[Q] I Think I May Have Recieved the Wrong Kind - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I think I'm running into a little issue, I was invited and bought my phone for almost a month ago, rooted it and flashed the Paranoid Android Beta as well as others but am on PA currently because it's pretty cool. One thing I was doing today was testing out the camera with a couple of buddies down by a lagoon and I noticed that I had run out memory. This raised questions so I checked the Storage section of the ROM and it said I had 16GB! It's weird because when I first got it I clarified if it had 64 and it did and now it's giving me this 12GB of storage after I formatted the phone. I need help, I checked other ROM's and it's giving me the same issue now. Thanks guys.

Did your phone come with a white (16GB) back cover or Sandstone Black (64GB)?
Other than that, I would suggest posting this on the official forums, probably the "Inviteshttps://forums.oneplus.net/forums/invites/" forums would be a good place.

Download http://dist01.slc.cyngn.com/factory/bacon/cm-11.0-XNPH30O-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip
And then flash userdata 64gb IMG in fastboot. Don't worry, your phone is still 64. If the back of your phone is sandstone then it'll be fine.
Visit the stickied threads on how to use fast boot if you're confused on how to flash the file.
If you need help or still confused. I'll help

Not a problem. I read about this problem in the past. http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/64-gb-storage-internal-listings-t2818560 that person had the same problem, easily fixable.
Most likely something overrode your phone to make it think you were using the 16GB variant and not the 64GB. Luckily it doesn't do any harm, just a visual misrepresentation.

It looks like a hardware defect. But I still recommend you to do a factory reset. Which firmware are you using now?
You can to try flash some rom

@cas_xp im usuing tahahawa's 2.2 v1.3 but ill give the factory reset a try. thanks!
@Emacore i cant flash anything becuase i don't have a working microSD slot....
UPDATE: doing a Reset Leaves the Phone hanging
also would it be possible to save pictures from the camera to the internal storage as i cannot use microsd cards?
There is a way to flash ROMs without an SD card. Guide here. WIND now has the Nexus S, maybe you'll want that as a replacement? I'm uploading the latest update to my ROM like, right now. Try flashing it with those instructions. Also try an app hat adds on-screen buttons.
thanks alot tahahawa! your the man . yeah im actually thinking of getting the nexus s

Quick question to the OP. Have you modified this to work with the A2? If not we've been down this road already and there will be consequences if you try to perform a recovery from a backup with this

We have asked developer nitroglycerin33 to make us our own bootstrap that works and here is the link

Guys as JRW 28 has said.
This has been tried and done with fatal issues. Until nytroglcerin33 gets the official CWM package updated, there is not much I would try with this, we have done backups and restores, as well as attempted a flash or two with NO SUCCESS.
I am not trying to be a pain here, but there are some of us who have been working on these things for almost two months since this phone came out, try a search in the Atrix2 section next time as there is a thread already about this, and until we get the bootloader unlocked we are going to have very limited abilities on this phone to develop, if you want to help out someplace go jump in there.

No worries, that was not aimed at anyone, it was more in genral, so that anyone who reads this sees that this is a very slippery slope right now, we have had at least 2 people that we know of, who bricked their phones using the / a similar method that was in the OP here.

I wouldn't say I have had no success... I'm able to backup and restore system and data using that atrix 2 recovery. In fact, the bionic one worked as well but I only used it a couple of times.
I've been using it to go back and forth between 55.11.16 and 55.13.16, 8 or 9 flashes so far without a brick.

You can only flash ROMS made for YOUR SPECIFIC MODEL. Just because it's a Galaxy S3 ROM doesn't mean it's okay on your phone. You need one for your specific version. I don't know what Criskelo is, but I have never head of it.
A quick search pulled up this:
Criskelo ROM for Rooted Galaxy S3 i9300!
If you want to know which ROM I am running on my Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 right now, it’s this Criskelo ROM. (PLEASE DO NOT FLASH THIS ROM ON U.S. or Canadian Galaxy S3s! PLEASE!)
If you did indeed flash an international ROM on your phone, it's probably a paper weight at this point. Go to mobiletechvideos and spend $60 to get it jtagged. Do some research before flashing next time.

I'm pretty sure most international roms make a dometic S3 completely unbootable. I don't think you can even boot into ODIN to flash anything. Looks like you've tried. I don't think a PIT file will help, especially if you can't make it into ODIN to flash.

So I bought a JIG whatever that is... do you think that I should wait for it to get here It seemed like in a video i watched it pulled up download mode immediately I'd hate to drop 60 bucks just to find out my 5 dollar fix would have worked.
Kylewiddz, that 32Gb PIT file previously mentioned was mine. Hate to break it to you, but it sounds like you'll need a JTAG to bring you back. If you wanna try the jig, sure, give it a shot. Even if it doesn't work, with this particular bork, they do work and they're nice to have around. Either way, Josh at the aforementioned MobileTechVideos.com is the bomb. $60 is better than buying a new phone (or committing fraud by taking it back for warranty). Good luck, buddy (make sure you learn something from this ).

The website looked really good, but the 60 dollar price tag is just enough to make me wait for the jig to get here. But if (most likely when) that doesn't work, they'll be gettin my business for sure. Moral of the story: I'm an idiot Thanks to everyone who helped

Yeah, it's a hard lesson to learn when you've had the phone for less than a week:crying: The jig said 15 days to ship so I said screw it and just got my order done on the previously mentioned website. It was phone or Resi 6... anyways feeling much better about the whole situation knowing that I'll be up and running sometime in a week. (I came from the droid x which to my knowledge there is only one droid x type of rom, the whole multiple types of S3 that there are just went right over my head till I did some heavy reading post mortem:crying Also I feel like I can't over state the whole :crying: thing haha oh well

[Q] How to get out of Bootloader

I have an AT&T HTC One X, with android 4.1.1. I had been scouring the internet for about three weeks now trying to figure out how to Unlock the bootloader. I finally figured it out. Then I did a perm root, applying superuserSU and i tried to flash CyenogenMod 10.0.0, and i got stuck in the CyenogenMod 10 loader. So i went back, and cleared the cache and data and dalvik. Then it loaded, and it started at the home scree. It didn't take me through a set up or anything. Then I tried to touch the screen, and it wasn't responsive. I tried re-applying it and what not, and then it just stopped working, the CWM Recovery kept saying it E: Cant Mount /sdcard, and it would have a long list of things it couldn't mount (which was litterally everything, and now I'm trying to just reset it to the stock HTC so i can try again. Can any one walk me through how to reset it?
And this is what happens when you don't read and start doing **** without knowing what you're doing.
So lazy.
If you do enough research in this forum to tell me why your touchscreen didn't work in cyanogenmod. I'll help you get your phone working again.

Touchscreen issues are to do with HTC changing the drivers for newer 4.1.1 ROMs. What you want to do is downgrade the touchpanel firmware using h8rift's excellent guide. That downgraded touchpanel firmware will then work with all ROMs and also with newer TWRPs. I'm running 2.5.0.0 with no dramas here.

Also the reason you boot looped in the first place was due to htc's infamous "s-on" security feature. While s-on, you are required to fastboot any img file instead of flashing through recovery. Examples are splash screens, kernels, recovery imgs. If you also follow the super easy s-off thread, this will allow your phone to surpass any security checks, allowing you to simply flash anything you want.
So until you s-off, you have to flash the ROM then immediately boot into boot loader and fastboot flash the boot.img. then the rom will boot up just fine

I dissagree entirely. It is easy. If it seems hard, the only reason would be that one did not have the patience to do a little light reading beforehand. And when you flat out give responses to easy questions it only encourages ignorance. The touchscreen issue is posted in just about all aosp Rom op and in stickies and a search would have brought up at least 10 threads with the issue documented aswell.
Honestly it is easy, but there's a lot to learn and watch out for so it can easily be overwhelming. After you toy around with it and see what command does what, what to flash, how to flash it, it gets a lot easier. Just lurk here often and learn the terminology and you'll be successful. You may get called a dumbass but that's because a lot of users here are really sick of people asking the same questions over and over, or they're just blatent idiots.
PS. Use the latest Nightly of CM 10.1, the new 3.4 kernel is supposed to be really slick.
Also, flash the 2.3.3.0 version of TWRP, versions 2.4 and above seem to have problems.

[Q] One X Hard Bricked

Ok, so I tried flashing cyanogenmod on my phone and ended up with what i believe to be a hard brick... I'll go through what I did, and I guess if there is any way to reverse this and return it to working condition, I would greatly appreciate this information. First, I used the exploit found in the all-in-one kit so that the bootloader could be unlocked officially by HTC. After getting my bootloader unlocked via the file sent to me by HTC, I flashed my cwm via fastboot. Everything seemed to be working fine at this point; the phone would boot into both the rom and the cwm. I rebooted the phone and flashed the boot image found in the cm rom I was flashing on my phone. I rebooted once again, erased the cache and dalvik, and then attempted to flash the rom. It was unsuccessful the first time due to failed asserts. I had previously been able to simply edit the build.prop file and remove the asserts on other android devices to correct this problem, so I attempted to do this. I tried again to flash the rom, which began installing, and then resulted in the phone turning off. I am sure that this has everything to do with my editing of the file, but I am just wondering why it did not work this time, and if there is a way to correct this without expensive hardware. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

It's not responsive to anything now... I realize the device probably won't make a recovery at this point due to my lack of knowledge and resources, but I guess I'm more wondering why exactly this happened, for future reference. I mean, if there is a way to fix it that would be awesome, but yeah, the screen and buttons wont turn on, and when its plugged in the charge LED does not come on either. My computer can still recognize the phone though in the device manager, but it is called Qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008, and there is not an obvious way (to me) to access the files on the internal SD.

It was probably a corrupted download and editing files on a Rom built by someone else wasn't the best of ideas can you access fastboot or recovery?

I downloaded the latest, most stable rom directly from the cyanogenmod website, and no, I can't access fastboot or recovery.

When you plug it in does it show charge light? And what is the file name you flashed? You should only download roms from here if it was a quad core Rom it overwrote the partitions and totally bricked it. Also plug it into a Windows pc and tell me what it's trying to install drivers for if it tries to install qhsusb drivers your dead in the water and need jtag or send it to HTC for about 200$ to have mainboard replaced.

As I said, the charge light does not show up, the file name was cm-10.1.2-endeavoru, and I don't remember seeing any drivers installed after that, but on my windows 8 pc (dont judge, its brand new), it shows up in device manager as qualcomm hs-usb qloader... Sounds pretty dismal, but thanks a lot for the input. Still wondering why this happened though.

This forum is for the evita. If you have the quad core and flash an evita Rom it bricks and vice versa. They are not cross compatable. Flash evita on international version u brick it. If you have the quad core you may be better off asking in the correct forum. I'll find you a link in a minute and update this post

Before I downloaded the rom, I checked and make sure I had a dual-core processor in the about section of the settings in the phone.

Not a idiot. Just keep in mind the two devices are not well separated on the websites. All available roms for our phone are here on xda. Dont even assume cm website will be that specific. I'd pm zarboz and see if he is willing to jtag for you. And it wouldnt hurt if you threw him a few bucks for beer or something lol

There were asserts in the ROM to prevent this kind of thing.

Yup, I did. I had done that in the past and it worked for my other android device, but I guess it wouldn't make sense for them to exist if there wasn't a reason. Thanks alot guys, I'm just starting out with this stuff and it's really good to see the amount of people who are willing to help newbies like me.
