Why are gapps included in most of these AOSP Lollipop ROMs but hardly in the KK ROMs? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Most of these new Lollipop ROMs include gapps. I thought Google didn't allow that and that's the reason why the KK ROMs never hardly included them. Someone enlighten me...

difference between xnph44s and cm11 m11

Hi team,
Quick question from a newbie.
What's the difference between the fw preinstalled on my opo and cm11s m11.
When cm12s will be released, both fw will receive ota at the same time?
Thanks
Ebt
Cm11/cm12 is faster with updates there is already cm12
Cm11s is the same but has different lock screen and thats acualy the only thing i see is different and the only thing I like..
Cm12s will come like next year begin January.
They're both very similar but the way that the updates work for CM11 and CM11S (XNPH44S) are different.
CM11S contains some closed-source applications such as the lock screen, AudioFX (supposed to be open sourced but not yet), WhisperPush, and some other applications
CM11.... is possible to flash a zip (you'll have to find it) and make it be like CM11S since all the applications are in that zip.
Personally, I would just forget about CM11 and CM11S and flash CM12 and get in the Lollipop business as thats where all the interest is in right now.
Both, thanks for your reply.
Very useful to understand difference between CM11s/CM11.
But definitely, I'll go for CM12
Cm11s is the opo specific ROM for our phones. It has features or fixes for opo specifically. It's the "stable" version good for public release.
Cm11 is either snapshots deemed stable (example m10, m11, etc) but there's also cm11 nightlies that are not deemed stable they are built every night with usually new additions that could make things better or worse until tested
Cm11 based ROM are all KitKat ROM
Cm12 projects are all Lollipop based ROM. As you can see there's no snapshots such as cm12 m1 etc so there's no version deemed stable. In fact CyanogenMod hasn't even released one officially, everything you see here is unofficial and built by users.
Cm12 ROM are all in alpha stages but CyanogenMod is working on it at this point

Returning to Kitkat (Need Help)

I have been using various 5.1 roms for the past 3 weeks... Lollipop roms are constantly giving me problems. So i want to try a 4.4 ROM...
Which is the most stable 4.4 ROM the OPO has ever got..??
It needs to have the best battery life and lot of customisations...
And should I flash a stock 4.4 ROM before trying any custom kitkat rom..?

See my post below, running CM11s with Boeffla's kernel (with touch fixes). You could set it up as a secondary on multirom. You just need to flash the cm11s modem. See the other link below for running lollipop and CM11s alongside each other.

CM11S (44S or 05Q) is actually the most stable kitkat rom
You can find AOSP kitkat rom(Stock Android) on oneplus forums build by oneplus team
If you want any add-ons, you can install xposed with the above ROMs

Fully functional AOSP 5.1.1 ROM?

Does anyone knows where to find a Fully functional AOSP 5.1.1 ROM?
I'd rather suggest you SlimLP, CyanogenMod 12.1 or Omni. Depending on the builds, everything works, and take into account pure AOSP doesn't have camera support.
The 3 mentioned roms are in the Original Android Development section.

[Request] AOSP rom 6.0.1

I've seen some aosp based roms with tons of nice features but i've yet to see a pure aosp rom.
so is anyone willing to create a working pure aosp rom? (yes i've seen the aosp thread but critical things dont work)
thanks!:good:
It takes some time to build a rom from the ground up... So if you'll just wait that AOSP rom will work as well as a CM13 rom.
Try the latest Tesla rom, Its aosp based.

any rom 4.4.4?

I'm wanting to do an miui port but couldn't find any 4.4.4 roms for my device (xt1225)
Does anyone got one?
No. Not a 4.4.4 ROM, but possibly a kernel.
The first custom ROM we got was CM12 (5.0.2) which was Lollipop, over a year ago (March 2015, before Motorola gave us Lollipop). The CM dev @Skrilax_CZ wrote the kernel for the CM ROM, and it was based on the Moto 4.4.4 kernel at the time -- even though it was Lollipop ROM.
Then, for CM12.1 (Lollipop 5.1.1), he used the Motorola 5.0.2 kernel sources.
But for that original CM12, the kernel was based on 4.4.4. He adapted it to work on Lollipop. So, not sure it would work with a 4.4.4 ROM. You would have to ask him.
ALL custom ROMs for the Quark in this forum, no matter whether CM-based (CM, Resurrection Remix, Sony Xperia) or AOSP (Mokee, Nexus Experience) use @Skrilax_CZ kernel. You will have to do the same, unless you want to write your own.
There were no 4.4.4 custom ROMs for this phone. Besides stock 4.4.4 factory image, the first custom ROM was CM12 (Lollipop).
Why do you want 4.4.4 custom ROM for this phone? It's not like MIUI is stuck on 4.4.4
I see a MIUI Marshmallow ROM right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/len...rom-miui-lollipop-5-1-1-lenovo-a6000-t3304261
I see MIUI Lollipop here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/len...rom-miui-lollipop-5-1-1-lenovo-a6000-t3304261
Either Lollipop or Marshmallow MIUI would be your best bet to port, as you would have @Skrilax_CZ Lollipop or Marshmallow kernel to work with.
If you port Miui to whatever version I want try it
