I am looking for Nokia's Here for Gear app.
Today, I got my wife a Gear S. It loaded "Here for Gear" in the setup process. It is awesome.
And I know that "Here for Gear" will be available for Gear 2 as well. But where is it ?
nobody interested ?
Any way you can extract it and post it here for us
I don't know where the install file is. This is not android and I don't know even if there is a install file on Tizen.
Besides , I'm not sure that it will work on a 320x320 screen device.
We should find the original release for Gear 2. Or elsei some good developer should modify it.
Today I gave up
Ordered a Gear S for myself. It is beautiful !
I will miss the camera and IR led on the Gear 2 but Gear S screen is really nice.

Using Gear Manager on Emulated device (Bluestacks, Genemotion, Andy and AVD)
Hello all,
I have recently been without a Android phone for a while but i am trying to use the "Gear Manager" from a Emualtor/Virtual device like the ones mentioned in the subject of the post
So far it has been the easiest to get Samsung Apps and all its addons and the Gear manager software to run and work flawlessly on Andy Emulator
Andy cannot use Bluetooth though and from what i managed to understand neither does Genemotion.
Since the Gear 2 uses Bluetooth 4 LE im not sure that even if it did use BT that it would be compatible with any of my computer set ups
since my gear is rooted and i have a feeling this can be possible somehow i decided to ask the forum
Is there a way to tunnel when connecting the Gear 2 to the PC via USB to the Emulator so that the gear manager would pick it up to sync it.
or is there any thought to an alternative that can yield the same end result
in the Case of Andy (emulator) would i need to set up both sides through Terminal to find each other ? or bridge them through Windows... just throwing out thought here
Anyway would love for the forums thoughts on the subject or tips/help...
Hey everyone!
This is my first time ever posting on XDA. I have been running custom ROMs for a while now and I love the clean, for the most part feature rich ROMs that strip all the bloatware out that these manufacturers force on their users.
There has been one thing that has been bugging the crap out of me and that's as the title states getting a Gear 2 Neo watch to work with "Gear Manager" now simply named Samsung Gear.
A little background:
I first attempted this on CM 12 (Lollipop Android), and there was endless thread of people attempting the same thing with different ROMs getting mixed results with a variety of either different version of the gear manager App and all different version of associated plugins. (All attempts I tried all failed, just couldn't get the gear software on my phone to find the watch, either when the phone was BT paired to the watch or not.)
So after giving up from complete frustrations. I decided my phone needed a cleanup (was getting really buggy from multiple app installs and who knows what else) I generally have root mode disabled whenever humanly possible. Lucky CM releases great night version of their ROM that can be easily installed an upgraded using CWM or in my case TWRP.
So Now I'm on the latest build of CM13 (Marshmallow Android) and as most of you know Samsung released the gear app to work on other versions of Android (But no their own hardware with custom ROM installed).
So The App installed and all I get is the "You've modified you OS that is incompat... blah blah blah, gear app won't run". Quickly searching this the latest post basically stated that all they did was change their build.prop file to say htc instead of samsung. I made these changes, re-installed gear app. Now it loads (At least some progress) but still no matter what I do the dang app refuses to find the watch.
Can someone please provide a clear step by step what I need to do to get my Gear 2 Neo, to work on my S5 running CM 13? I really don't want to back to TouchWiz :S
Anyone who received the Samsung Gear S3 pair it with any Iphone yet? Curious about your thoughts and if you still find the watch useful with its limited functionality.
Thanks,
Dan
I'm not sure but I think Samsung didn't say it was compatible with iPhones.

Doesn't work with iPhone.
Samsung did a beta test on iPhone, I don't know what happened after that or when they will release the final app for iPhone. Hopefully it will be soon for those that have one.

I am curious too. Would love to hear some S3 owners talk about what works (or doesn't work) on the watch when its not paired to a phone.

I've coupled a Gear S3 with the beta version of the GearManager on iPhone SE. It worked much more than with the Gear S2. The system from the S3 obviously is much more sophisticated and tuned to the GearManager. So if an official version appears the combination Gear S3 with the iPhone obviously will be quite powerful.
Unfortunately no one can say when Samsung finally released an official version of GearManager.
Hello,
I'm in the same case than the author.
I have actually an iPhone 6S which I don't want to resell because I like it and it is not old enough to change for another.
Nevertheless, i'm really interesting by buying the Samsung Gear S3 since i'm looking for a watch with a good design (which doesn't look like a "gadget" as it the case for the Apple Watch).
I want to know if it is possible to pair the iPhone 6S with the Samsung Gear S3. I'm aware of the beta of Gear Manager for iPhone but i don't know which fonctions i will lose with this app, which function I can use and if it is still worth to buy this watch which cost 400$ (We can currently have it for 320€ in France).
I want it in order to receive SMS and phone call, be able to answer phone call and mb SMS too (it is not a big fault if i can't answer SMS). I also want to use the GPS functionality but I don't know if it is even possible with an iPhone pairing. Same for spotify, messenger notifications, chronometer.
Moreover, I didn't find a lot of information about the sport fonctionnality. They are talking about running but i'm doing workout 3 times per week and I wanted to follow/track my training with the watch if it is possible.
To sum up, that is my questions :
1- Which important fonctionnality should I don't be able to access with iPhone pairing ?
2- Which important fonctionnality should I be able to use with iPhone pairing ?
3- Is it possible to receive SMS ? To answer it ? Same question with phone calls.
4- Will I be able to use GPS fonctionnality ? Spotify fonctionnality ? Messenger ? Chronometer ?
5- Can I track my workout with the sport fonctionnality ?
6- Is it worth to buy it for an iPhone ?
Thanks,
Regards,
Ketaz
It is hard to say what funtionality will be finally available with pair Samsung watch - iPhone, as we have currently only beta Gear manager for iOS. Notifications and S-Health are working. There is access to the Samsung Store, but currently only free applications are available. I think that there will be no possibility to answer sms or calls, because iOS do not allow such actions from 3rd party apps via Bluetooth. But from the other side if Samsung will allow to install standalone apps directly on watch, it would be some oportunity if only pairing with iOS will not block it. There is no ETA of final Gear Manager for iOS, so we have a lot of speculations and nothing is confirmed.

Thanks for the answers.
Well actually it is possible to answer calls with every bluetooth accessories so it seems weird to not be able to do it with the samsung gear.
It's already a good thing that we can have notifications...
Should i be able to track my workout with S Health ?
Which free applications are available ?
@Ketaz: 1. to 5.: I think most will work and your desired functions are largely fulfilled.
At 6.: When will appear the official GearManager: then in any case YES!

Do you have a source please ? :victory:
Source (and my/our hope) is the last update info in TestFlight (dev.tool for GearManager iOS):
" Samsung Gear S 1.6.16111702 (1.6.16111702) for iOS is ready to test
What To Test:
- General bug fixing - Fix a crash when login to the Samsung account from Samsung App Store Known Issue: - At the menu Home -> Samsung App Store, back button not working to come back to the GM Home. This issue should be fixed by 2nd December (12/02)."

Nice ! Do you use it with an iPhone ?
If yes, can you try it with spotify please ? If it's working I buy it 100% sure
Spotify on my iPhone I can already control with Gear S2
OK you convinced me thank for the answers
... but I can not tell if the special spotify-app works on the Gear S2 with an iPhone. You can only control (next-back-stop) the music, which is currently running on the iPhone.
I've been hunting around but haven't seen this available anywhere. Has anyone managed to pull this off of their TB version of their Galaxy Watch 4 as of yet (and is willing to share)?
I personally do not use Facer but it appears they have some TB for Wear watches:
https://www.facer.io/explore/tag/thom browne/popular
Not clear how well these will work.
Yeah I've seen those custom face apps and tried them in the past on my other wear devices. They always just felt clunky and not as nice as a good stock face. I'm sure in time we'll find someone willing to pull the apk out of their watch and share.
If someone can tell me HOW to do it, I will, so long as it doesn't void my warranty, or flub the watch in any way. I have a tb gw4, that my wife uses, I bought the classic in 46, but want those watchfaces to match my phone, too
Sweet! There's a great post by Dante63 I think his username is on ADB commands with the watch. You'd be wanting to pull the APKs, but I'm not sure what the names of the APKs would be for these faces specifically. Here's a snip from his post on pulling apps with ADB:
~~~ Scenario 5: Pulling Apps ~~~
Enter Shell mode typing:
adb shell
then type
pm list packages
Find the package of interest then type
pm path <package-name>
this returns the path of the apk package location, exit shell
exit
now pull it typing:
adb pull <path-to-apk-package> <package-name>.apk
you have pulled the apk into the adb folder...
Edit: Here's the link to the thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...restore-system-app-install-pull-apps.4324063/
Looks like the app you'll be looking for will have the following naming convention, with the X's replaced with the Thom Browne specific watch face name: com.samsung.android.watch.watchface.XXX
Hey Everyone!
Sorry for the delay on this! I just started getting familiar with ADB shell this evening - it's been a little wonky, but I used to use SSH a million years ago for pc-work, so nothing too different thus far.
That said - I wanted to see if I could take this pet project a step further... the Thom Browne edition has a custom power-on and power-off (much like the z-flip and z-fold) am i able to pull those as well and apply them to other watches?
I don't believe there exists a method to pull firmware currently based upon the other threads I have reviewed. Maybe eventually, but doesn't seem possible as of yet. Unsure if these animations can be copied over in another way though...
Hey arenoken, have you had any luck extracting the watch faces? I'm keen to give my GW4C a new look!
Well if you're as impatient as I was you can use the image I threw together quick attached here with the My Photo+ face. Should fit the bill until arenoken pulls through for us.
Just wanted to kick this one along again, I've been lookin' all over but can't seem to find a pulled APK for these faces. Any chance you've had any luck yet Arenoken?
Hate to keep kicking this one on, but does anyone have access to this apk? Any way to get firmwares yet? I checked around but am not seeing anything new on that front...
Maybe i can make it for you with galaxy watch face studio. Can you olease send more photos of the face you want?
I wanted tag heuer watch face and no one answer me so i feel you.
With some help at the start from someone here,i made alot of watch faces and this is looks pretty easy.
So please send me the photos you can and i will do my best.
Here is 3 in 1 Wireless Charger Stand For Samsung: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Aqyl2H
I was finally able to pull the 5 Thom Browne Watch Faces from my watch!
OMG thank you so much, I dont know how I missed this reply until now!
Thank you for the amazing work. Can someone help me understand how to get these watch faces to work? I installed the apk on my phone but i do not see them in the phone apps list or inside the wearable app.
Just bought a galaxy watch 4 off of eBay, bit of a bargain (never used/AUD117).
I have a pixel phone and obvs wear os app on phone not working with watch, wondering if I can root watch and remove all Samsung crap?
Or not possible?
Might be possible. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rooting-galaxy-watch4.4452343/ The person who wrote this thread was able to do most of the steps, but there was an error. If that could be fixed, then yeah, you can root it
"We" have "tiny" problem(s) to do this easy for all GW4.
1 Reason is:
Recovery with Download Wireless is harder secured...
So no netOdin success...
With USB cable (wires soldered or..) no problem to use Magisk Patched boot.img and bypass with Odin...
USB cable means this:
SM-R765F Teardown
Dear friends, I found that the LTE connection is very useful when you have to leave your mobile somewhere and you can get calls and notifications through mobile connection. I bought a Gear S3 LTE (R765) from a Singapore site because in Italy it...
As tiny summary...
1 tiny second problem...
To patch with Magisk... I am using now Version 25.2 ... before 24.3...
You need boot.img from Stock Firmware...
So usefull to know exact Model Name?
Example:
SM-R870 or SM-R875F or SM-R875U or?
i guess what i am ultimately looking to do is to manage watch via Wear OS , and not installl that Samsung app on my google pixel phone... is that possible?
No you can't. You must have Samsung Galaxy wearable app and the watch4 manager app thing for the watch to work at all with any phone Samsung or not.
What you can do though is debloat the watch using adb app control (great little program) and the dev is super active on telegram for support with it.
As for the samsung apps on your phone, I use NextDNS and I have their settings to block pretty much all trackers. That way the blocking is taking place through DNS and not directly on your device so it doesn't affect your battery.
I saw only experimental attempt... with "success"...
Succeed connecting gw4 to wearos app, so maybe connecting to other phone will be without watch reset after pixel watch and releasing wearos 3 to other than samsung companies
Bluetooth debug also work
no notifications on watch
Never tried self.
I never used Wear OS before GW4... so no idea how to use this App...
Only short in Emulator and few Seconds with SM-R760...
And I am Samsung Fanboy... so I have Samsung Phone(s)...
Only as info...
