i have a problem with my nexus 4 touch. Some parts of the screen have a low sensitivity. I want to replace just the digitiser instead of the whole lcd thing. Is it possible? Please help me. Thanks in advance.

It is possible but it will be very hard to do, you might even need special tools. I would recommend to just replace the screen+digitizer assembly.
This this myself too and it was very easy.

It is possible. But a major pain. I actually did it by using a hair dryer to melt the glue. It was a pain and I don't recommend it. You can find the whole display assembly instead for 50 bucks on eBay.

hello, so I dropped my phone and the screen is badly cracked. I'm comfortable with replacing it but I'm wondering if I should just replace the digitizer as the LCD looks ok except two discolorations at points of impact. I'm curious if they could be just due to the pressure from the broken screen or do you guys think I should just replace Tue LCD? Could those discoloration be permanent damage to the. LCD? Obviously,if I can avoid spending extra on the LCD I'd rather do that.
Thanks for any and all advice.
You will need both

Well, at least it'll be slightly easier since I won't have to pry the LCD from the digitizer.
Been there. I ordered my digitizer thinking I could do it. There is adhesive all across the screen. Lightly heated and gently pried apart. But no luck. Ended up destroying the lcd . Had to order the screen LCD pack. Working great now.

Just out of curiosity, is the at&t one x compatible with the S720E lcd and digitizer? I thought the S720E was the quad one x
i didn't know that this whole thing would be so difficult so i have ordered only the glass

I have opened the phone until the touch

i tried removing the glass properly for one hour but i coudn't do it, so i breaked the glass and twrow it away

is the touch damaged? if not, what should be my next step? remove the black plastic?
That glass you ordered is a touch screen (digitizer) itself. You broke LCD. Turn the phone on (obviously you can do it without TS) and see the damage for yourself. But most probably LCD now needs to be replaced as well.
btw, I think you have overlooked some clips or disassembling points as LCD is generally prone to damage, therefore no force should be used when working around it. It's also possible that for taking out digiter you need one of these (similiarly as for iPhones/iPods)
It also looks like the connecting flexi strip on the bottom right corner is compleatly recked and torn. (3rd pic)
Best of luck, but those pics look like disaster to me.
Edit - the more I look at those pics the more it looks like u need a new mobo...

Does anyone have any experience with separating and replacing only the LCD and Digitizer on a Nexus 5 from the from frame that they are in?
I've seen videos and guides where the Nexus 5 gets taken apart but they leave front frame + lcd + digitizer together and do not bother disassembling those.
From what I've read I can use a heatgun (I'll likely use a hot air rework station for better temperature control) to do this but are there more specific tips/instructions such as best temperature to do so or if I would need to further clean leftover residue and what I adhesive I should use when sticking on the replacement LCD/digitizer to the frame.
I would also appreciate links to perhaps this procedure being done on other phones as it will likely be similar.

For good reason they don't bother.
All of this heatgun stuff and everything, at least 50% of the time, many users will end up causing more damage than there was already.
There's a lot of people who can do it. It's just very very risky.
I'm not trying to insult your intelligence either. Just explaining why it's most likely that way.

Well the digitizer is already cracked so damaging the lcd/digitizer is not really an issue. Having now watched the Nexus 4 procedure for exactly what I want it does not seem that difficult, just time consuming.

Have you found a spare digitizer? It doesn't seem like anybody would even sell that part at this point. The success rate of separating the two is so small that anybody trying to sell this part won't get much business.

I have found a digitizer+LCD together which are also bonded together and will be purchasing that as a replacement ($100) for my broken digitizer. I'll just count the LCD as broken since there is not much I can do about it.
I had watched the method of separating a LCD and digitizer before and that seemed like a huge pain as was expecting that separating the digitizer+LCD from the frame would be a similar ugly process, however after watching a Nexus 4 video showing the latter process it seems that separating the digitizer+LCD from the frame is not that terrible of an ordeal and requires something like a heat gun.
That's what I mean . just buy the front panel. If you found it for 100 bucks. That's a good price.

I found it for 135 with the frame on ebay. Just replace the whole thing and put it all back together. Should be way easier

I found many digitizer replacement videos for Xperia U and other models, and all are the same process...
Just use carefully the hair dryer for the screen glue and done.
Seems easy

Ah, just one more thing...
The "glue" from the glass normally is on the entire screen OR just on the frame?
I want to know this, please

If you're referring to the OCA glue between the glass and the display, yes, it will be on the entire surface.
Hi everyone
The issue is that my screen cracked, no reason, I didn't sit on it or in didn't crash in the floor, simply cracked in my jacket pocket.
Now the issue is that half of the screen is not responding.
Is that normal? A small crack makes the touch completely unresponsive?

Yes. You've broken the touch screen, what do you really expect to happen?

Yes, and many do have problems. I work with touch screen systems for my job, so know how they work and how damage can affect them.

I think mostly phones which have LCD and Digitizer fused together seize to work. Phones which have different LCD and Digitizer continues to work ..
