Before you flash CWM Recovery You should Do This To return to your stock recovery - General Topics

Hey Guys before any Thing This Method Requires Root And who fear from root beacuse it void your warranty Dont worry about it unrooting will make it as nothing happened
Lets Start :good:
Our thread will talk about Recovery And There's A Few Threads That Talk About It
If you wanted to flash an CWM Custom Recovery But You Wanted To Go Back To Your Stock Recovery for any reason There is An Easy Way To Do It
There is An APP In Play Store Named "Rashr" This App only requires Root Access To Backup Your Current Recovery And Your Kernel
First Time you open the App It Will Ask You About Giving it the root access After Granting It will ask You You about the name you prefer on your backup image of kernel and then it will ask you about the name that you prefer on your backup image of recovery Then it Will Save It In Your SD Or In Your Internal (it depends on your phone or Your tablet ) An I Folder Named Rashr
Copy This Folder In Your Pc (Recommended) Or On Any Safe Storage Media
App Also Flash CWM Or Any Type Of Img That It Is An Custom Kernel Or A Recovery Without Changing Your Downloading Counter By Putting The Img In Your sd or dowloading it from your device directly and choosing the file From your files manager (my files) The Program Will Ask You If Its A Recovery Or A Kernel (You Must Choose the right type or you might get Problems in Device And I Am In That Case Not Responsible For What You Did) And Click Go And It Will Flash It like Light speed And Then Enjoy
And To Reset The Flasing Counter (Downloading Mode Counter ) Use "Triangle away " There is an Paid version in play Store If You could buy It And If You Couldnt there is a free version By The Same Devolper in xda : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/orig-development/2014-01-15-triangleaway-v3-26-t1494114
I Would Be very Happy If You Liked This Thread (The First Thread) And An Thank You Would Be Enough And Put Your Reply ,ASk Me I Will Always Be There

[Q] About rooting, unrooting, custom rom

Hay. I plan on unrooting my phone and re-rooting my phone then installing a custom Rom, but I have a few questions along the way.
Why unroot and reroot?
- My copy+paste is messed up (phone freezes and crashes when trying to copy a text)
- Looked online and was told to change the clipboard permission under data
- Used a root browser and it showed "data" folder as empty and told me that I did not have root access
- downloaded a root checker program and said that My root was messed up
- noticed a few other programs that requires root, no longer recogonizes that I have root access.
- Yes I am up to date with Superuser app.
So that is why I am going to unroot and reroot my phone.
So here are my questions
1. Do I have to reset the flash counter if I am going to reroot my phone?
2. I have Titanium Backup and I dont want to lose my game data, or data on my "notes" app. Would I do a user app + system data batch backup? or would backing up my system data and restoring it mess up the settings on my phone?
3. Is this the correct process? "unroot phone > root phone and flash stock rom (route66 is the title of rooted stock rom) > flash custom rom?
Sorry, on my first smartphone and dont want to mess anything up (like it seems I already had)

1. No - the only way the flash counter is tripped if you flash custom software in odin.
2. It's ok to backup user app + system data But do NOT restore system data. Safest option is to let Playstore restore first. From TB, choose “Restore missing apps with data” and do "app only" then do it again “Restore missing apps with data” and do "data only." More detail here.
3. I don't see why you would need to flash to route66 to return to stock rom - just Wipe data/factory reset, then wipe cache partition and then wipe dalvik cache (under advanced menu).
Sorry my understanding was that when you flash a rom with root access then your phone is rooted.
So is the process, root your phone > and flash custom rom?
Flashing the custom rom is the only flashing I have to do?

The Process
1) Full TB Backup (recommended)
2) Root
3) Unlock Bootloader ** Update ** I used EZ Unlock 1.2 found here.
4) Flash Recovery (see below)
5) Do a Nandroid Backup and save to your external SD card and optionally your pc
5b) ** Update ** Back up IMEI. The how-to is here.
6) Factory Reset & Clear Cashes (see previous post)
7) Flash new rom
Other flashes
You will need to flash a custom recovery - it is from this interface that you flash your new rom. The easiest way to do this is to download the Playstore App EZ Recovery and choose one of the options and Flash. Not essential, but if you want to get the most current cwm touch for the gs3 you can to go to the romManager site here and download for the Verizon SG3 (EZ Recovery can use a custom recovery not included in their package).

I wouldnt use the ez-unlock for the app store as 1.4 doesnt show if the bootloader is locked or unlocked (he hasnt corrected that yet). I would use 1.2, there is a post around here with a rootzwiki download link for it.

Thanks for correcting me - I'm glad to know it's not fixed yet - I'll hold off my update on it.
The link to 1.2 can be found in this thread: here.
I left out one step - I backed up IMEI before flashing a new rom. The how-to is here.

[Q] Need help rooting my phone...

My Objective
I want to root my phone backing up:-
Stock ROM
Stock Recovery
Personal settings
Contacts
Device Config
Model: Samsung Galaxy SL GT-I9003
Firmware Version: 2.3.6 GINGERBREAD
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.DDKP2
Internal Memory: 4GB
My Action Plan
I've planned to root my phone following a safe approach:-
Make backup of the Stock Recovery on an SD card.
Flash ClockworkMod Recovery.
Using ClockworkMod Recovery, make NANDroid backup of the Stock ROM on SD card.
Root!
Problems
I can't find a way to fetch the Stock Recovery and store it on an SD Card. I've googled a lot on the topic, but could not find a solution...
I would be greatly thankful for any suggestions...
Tools I currently have
Odin program
ROM Manager
Terminal Emulator
Android SDK (which includes ADB)
ClockworkMod Recovery Image for my device
Super One-Click program
for root use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987169 or anything over the net
and for making a backup you should use cwm search for cwm for your device or use rom manager from google play to install cwm
and I think rom manager can backup the rom

The android.secure thing is not an issue. It means you did not encrypt the file system.
The constant root nagging is a 4.4 bug, I think.
You should use TWRP instead.
Or use philz....

Backup should be in /data/media/clockworkmod/backups
You can use a file explorer, like root explorer, to find it.

First week root. Samsung bootanimations, CWM, and boot files.

{This I the third time I'm posting this in the forums, I hope that this is the right place ???}
It's my first time customizing an android phone after rooting it, and I have to say, there's a lot to learn. Samsung devices are made to read qmg files when it comes to boot animations, but I'm already making my own boot animations, and I have a lot of questions I hope this post isn't that long.
================================
1- after installing CWM can I UNINSTALL it using odin? Or is there any other way to do it without my computer?
================================
2- I know that you can't UNflash files, so when I flash a zip file (specifically bootanimations4U) what files should I back up? I'd rather back up only the files that will be replaced? Or is there an app to back up files from a certain folder and just bring them back if I want to bring back the normal animations?
================================
3- let's say that my device is rooted, it has CWM installed, and also, has the . zip enabler flashed already and in use. I'm planning to FORMAT my phone in a couple of weeks because I want to use it as if it's rooted with the whole storage available (I don't have storage problems I just want to do that) but my question is...
==========
-Q3: if my goal is just to delete my data and apps only, can I just use the factory reset from the settings? Do I need to do anything regarding CWM or the zip file I've flashed? Will CWM be deleted? Will I have to flash that .zip reader enabler (bootanimations 4u) again? What do I need to do if I needed to reset my phone without any problems?
================================
4- is there a file size limit for the bootanimations.zip files on Samsung devices (galaxy s5 android 6.0) and also the audio file size limit?
================================
5- what is the condition in which I have to flash the bootanimation4U.samsungani.zip file and not the other one?
If u want to format you can do it by wiping data,cache,dalvik it does not effect custom recovery and reboot

[TWRP/ROOT] Karbonn A41 Power

I am gonna keep this short as I am posting this from a tablet and I dont have a physical keyboard.
Download all the files below
Extract the recovery on your C:\ drive so that its short to type
Put the phone in fastboot mode and type the following in the command window
fastboot flashing unlock
fasboot flash recovery C:\recovery.img
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
After successful flash, disconnect, take out the phone battery, put it back and press volume down+power button untill Karbonn splash screen to boot into TWRP recovery. Go to youtube to check how to change language to english.(Sorry I made this on a windows tablet and in half an hour, didnt check properly)
Now the first thing you want to do is make a backup.
Select only boot, system, data(if you want to) to make a backup.
Please refrain from messing with any other partition in your phone.
Flash the SuperSU zip file to root your phone.
Install Root Explorer and delete all the crapware the phone comes with(specially Tap n Buy which you cant disable) and Google Apps that you dont require.
You can use the light weight versions of some of the Google Apps called Go Apps. Some I have provided along, like the Maps Go, Youtube Go.
You can install the Pixel Launcher if you want. Also if you delete the google photo app, please install the lineage gallery apk.
Although it has 1GB RAM, its still not enough. Specially with Android 7 and the google apps installed. Specially the Google search app consumes a lot of RAM. Multitasking is not possible. Delete the gboard keyboard and install the lightweight keyboard I provided along. Do not update it in playstore
For this device Android Oreo Go is more suited with Google Go Apps.
Thank the original developers of the apps
I modified the TWRP of another phone to work with this phone. I didnt originally make the recovery. It is made for an older chipset SC8830 and not for this phones chipset SC9832. I just modified it so that it would work. If you find any problem, please report and I will try to solve it. I dont know who is the original porter btw.
Backup and restore of the rom, flashing zip files work(thats all I have tested cuz thats all I need).
I am unable to flash the stock rom with the flash tool so I am not gonna mess with any other partitions(search the web for it)
IMEI can be restored with the IMEI tool(please do not ask for it)
Please only backup, format, flash and modify only boot, recovery, system, data and sdcard partitions
If you do not know and you modify the other partitions that relate to the basebands, wifi, mac address, IMEI, etc.... then I am not responsible for your stupidity.
With supersu powers, comes greater responsibilities
If your device bricks, then dont blame me
Link to my stock firmware TWRP backup. Restore from TWRP http://www.mediafire.com/file/tf0enb455nafp6n/Rooted_stock_without_crapware_and_replaced_GApps.zip
Only boot and system partition backups
Extract the files to your TWRP backups folder in your sdcard.
Its not a zip flash file.
I made this as a test. So any issues, please report.
Tap n Buy was annoying me as I cant disable or uninstall. And due to large apps like google app and gboard, whatsapp, even messaging was closing down. Very important to me both.
So I found a workaround and its working pretty good.
I'll try to post a proper recovery once I have time.
Recovery booted but it's not modify anything in system and its revert back to stock after reboot
