CM is not too keen on Bumping their nightlies etc.....

Hi there, Let's be a bit careful about calling Cyanogen stupid here for this. I'll be 100% honest and say I understand their apprehension to having a device (their buildboxes) make external calls to a web service they don't control.
Can't say I blame them for saying no, either.
That said, it does indeed look like for the time being there will only be Unofficial builds available, which isn't a big deal. I'm happy to set up nightlies on my buildboxes too.
I'm hoping @invisiblek hasn't abandoned the project either, as he's extremely talented when it comes to getting this stuff working.

Wow..
Not gonna go read the entire Bump! thread right now, but wasn't Codefire thinking of making the process (meaning, I guess, the code) available to developers so they could bump locally?
Hi guys, let's not go off and freak out over this. Discussion is still ongoing, and even if CM doesn't decide to officially build for this phone, we still can have builds done externally by anyone who wants to do so.
Bump has an API that anyone can use as long as they have an account, so there's no reason to be upset.
Keep calm and carry on
Darn that's a bit disappointing. But I'm perfectly fine with anything; official or unofficial as long as it works.
I hope to build Pac for d850 soon! Sucks cm takes this kind of approach to it.

What I think is retarded is that Brint has no reason for not doing it. He's literally being a nazi-like figure just blocking it because he doesn't like it. I'm sorry, how does this make any sense? The worst that would happen is that the bump service (external site) goes down and the build fails. Brint, get over your ego...
CM keeps going down hill with stupid mistakes (like this). First with the One+ One; you gotta be invited to buy a phone? wtf? The hardware is already second grade at this point, who wants a One+ now when you get an N6?
I'll be happy with a solid AOKP rom or a pure Google Lollipop build with xposed/gravitybox
I'll wait to see how this plays out. Hopefully CM will become comfortable with the bump process. I can understand the initial hesitation since it requires something that they cannot control. If they end up not supporting it, honestly it will be CMs loss. The G3 is a very popular phone and there will be plenty of ROM choices out there. So if CM doesn't support it, I'll still have lots of options (and I'm sure someone will unofficially support it too).
Yeah that's really a load of crap especially seeing how Dan already had the script ready to autobump. It's not like it's really that much more work on cyanogenmods part or was Brent just too pansy to have a call out to another server.
I guess we will all have to annoyingly go download and update manually from the forums unless lg actually decides to release a legit boot unlock.
Yeah, I don't really get it!
Hmm, so it seems there be some sort of process they can use still. Keep your hopes up guys
Care to elaborate?
Regardless we will have unofficial with the devs (probably timmytim)pulling commits and upgrading it just as good.

Please let me know, how much you want nightly builds for the vega tablet.
be honest - if you got no interested in them, say so - its not taken as offense.
we are probably too small to get included in the official build process, but i would provide semi official nightlies.
always build from latest cm7 sources. no mods, nothing changed, build the same way the official nightiles are build. on a regular basis. usually i am on my pc each day - being able to invoke the build script and auto upload it.
Voted for the regulary option but that is because I'm a flashoholic
At the moment I'm using your april 3rd version and flashed all versions before that. Especially when you can flash without loosing data/apps/widgets I see no reason not to update regulary.
I usually flash each version hoping some bug will be fixed, some performance increase will be seen, etc. But a weekly would be fine for me as well for example. Just very thankful for the work you're doing for the vega and CM7 is already an excellent piece of work on it.
I agree for 100%.
I´m also a flashoholic like dagrim1
Once or twice a week would be very appreciated.
Thanks for your time and work. Even when the Android 2.2 Vega rom runs a little bit smoother and more stable this ROM has so much more potential. And I love it really.

I´m on corvus rom last week and something, but I would be really happy to try anything new...
so, my vote - yes I would flas them to try (for sure) and use them, if they would be better than corvus...

One or two nightlys per week would be fab!
Hi my name is Harplo and I'm a flashoholic
what exactly is different to the viewsonic G 10? i mean in terms of hardware? because my theory is, like the dream/sapphire projects if this CM build could be built for "both" if the hardware is 99% same, then there would be a lot more interest.
i guess the first thing would be to check to see if the kernel sources are any different of the two devices. just a long shot that might save time and gather a lot more interest if they are very similar?
i hope to see them regularly, maybe once a week not like every night. i know that its a lot of work that goes behind it as well as time. specially if a person is doing it on their own.
thats more than enough demand. will starting building this once i finished the tablet tweaks... that long, the tablet tweaks builds are nearly the same as nightlies... just added my stuff

That is great. I wrote a message to Apache14 about starting a thread, but i did not get an answer. But i think he gets more then enough pm's from people wanting things.... Anyway it would be very nice when there would be a nightly. Flashed all your builds till now.
Thanks.

Basically... You have to have CWM installed. Then put the zip file on your sd-card and boot into CWM where you choose 'install from zip' and select the zip.
But not having to wipe depends on the update itself, not the method. Often when changing between roms a wipe is necessary, sometimes when updating a rom as well but very often you can update without any problems.
Great news about the nightlies!

Just discovered your nightlies and flashed them!
Looks great!
Thank you!
Sorry this is slightly off-topic, but for those of you who regularly flash nightly's: Do you have a method of easily restoring apps+data+settings other than Titanium? I have found using Titanium restore-all often leads to problems.
It would be great if somehow an app could allow our tablets and phones to automatically update the read-only partitions nightly, but still preserve... everything that is read/write (and then kill dalvik-cache and reboot).
Here you guys go! Enjoy

Not coming for G2x I guess, not until LG/Nvidia release something.
All we can do is hope an official ICS release is made for the G2X or the O2X so we actually get hardware acceleration...
i know everyone wants an official ICS release but there are plenty of ICS roms for our phone, whats so special about a CM9 one? they all have the same drawbacks so really its just a matter of preference. and since cyanogen makes roms for just about every single phone out there he cant take the time to customize one for our phone, thats why i think the devs here make better roms

Aren't you the beta tester for someone on these threads? You should learn a little more before saying things that are incorrect to the public... Yes our group for the G2X is doing some awesome work, but none of those are actually usable for a lot of us. I use my phone actually, alot and ICS is no where near usable, I don't even record or anything but even taking a picture and exiting out the app a certain way will cause for a reboot to be able to take a picture again... and like monkee said, Ricardo (Cm_arcee) is the CM dev for our phone and almost if not all LG line of phones. If CM team were to release an official RC it would be with fully working everything at least. That's why we were excited with it, compared to what is available now.

totally forgot about arcee and as far as all the roms here using his fixes i dont see that as completely true as there are some roms here that are using AOSP pure so not using CM at all. unless (and this may be possible) his fixes are getting added into the code upstream then in a round about way those using AOSP would be using his fixes

and yeah im a beta tester for Genesis and what did i say that was incorrect? and just because im a beta tester does not necessarily mean i know everything there is to know about android, but i know enough. i didnt mean to offend CM or people who love CM, but ive used it as well and really it just comes down to preferences. i truly dont think that CM is the be-all-end-all of G2x roms...thats all im saying
and why would anyone think that when CM releases a rom that it will be error free or have all features? i've been using 7.2 and for a few releases bluetooth call audio isnt working and that is the case with 7.2 stable, so your argument about having everything working doesnt hold any water
Don't mean to sound like I'm bashing you but I don't mind spreading the knowledge I've gained over the years of basic rooting and android...
None of what you see except for the OTA stock based roms are doable without the CM team... EB AOSP included. It says on their 1st page "A BIG THANKS TO CM-TEAM for they're amazing work without these guys hard work and great features none of this would be possible for me..." it's just how it is, Steve (cyanogen) Kondik has been at it since the G1 days... so CM is pretty much the "be-all-end-all of G2x roms" if your phone didn't function well on stock... every phone is like that, not just the G2X, other wise we will have stock based roms with tweaks here and there but making the lock screens and coding them out to where they function like they do is mostly and all Cyanogen... This is what I've gathered over the years if I'm wrong about some of it, I wouldn't surprised... Since I've been rooting and everything for the past 4 years, I should be a Dev by now but I'm too lazy for that plus work, school and a social life, I don't have the patience either haha.
7.2 stable is not stable but it is about 100X more stable then CM9 in my eyes and lots others, some people have no issue with it being the way it is but I'm super picky and 23 years old, I go out a lot and answer lots of calls, need stable battery those sorts of things, ICS is none of what I need or want on the G2X... also why I'm switching phones shortly.
again I didn't mean to attack, just opinionated I guess lol.
no worries, i didnt take it that way, im pretty opinionated as well
and you have great points about how you use your phone and what you need from it. i guess thats where i need to make a mental note that not everyone here uses their phone the same way and want different things from it and the software that runs on it
and i did not in anyway mean for my posts to sound like i was bashing cyanogen (dont know him well enough to call him Steve LOL). what they do is incredible and they (and all the other devs here) make flashing our phones fun (at least for me)
i think this can be let go, no harm no foul?

I told everyone that Ricardo promises to port it as soon as he gets his hands on it. I had a long conversation with a friend last night about these fauxm9 ROMs. If you read my interview with Ricardo you would know he totally regrets his decision to release this crap. Source has even been pulled from cm. Our "CM9" source is a pile of app breaking hacks. I have the upmost respect for our devs, it is not their fault, but they have put soooo many band aids on this turd that I've noticed stability diminishing with each release. Too many patches, no real fixes. If anyone has noticed, ics releases have slowed dramatically. On the other hand, CM7 is on the brink of perfection, yet nobody's doing any kangs. What's left on CM7, blue tooth? I'm sure if devs worked on it they could figure it out in no time. Anyway, that's my opinion, and it's formed from pretty good sources.
I'm sure everyone knows what great friends mt3g and I are, but I stand by his his last comments. CM9 doesn't exist for our phone. Period.

Right! I love ICS and CM9, but fact is, these latest kangs of kanged kangs are soooo unstable it's comical they're being released. Focus should turn to CM7 until cm or lg releases something for ICS. Trust me, LG has to do ics for the O2x, it will be here soon enough.

I'll update my thread accordingly once the nightlies begin. Since it'll be a couple of days before the nightlies actually begin, I'll run another build in the mean time. Partly because I want to make sure the CM repo will produce good builds
Yay!
Bugs that still exist: touchkey w/ BLN that they're using is just an interim driver... I need to finish porting that. Also, the random WIFI MAC bug. Ugh.
Oh! And there's a work around for users of the official CWM in ROM Manager. Until once the new builds kick in, you should be able to install them through the official CWM, which will allow CWM to update and correct their problem. This is some serious catch 22 stuff. But it'll get worked out.
Otherwise, you people should be able to start enjoying some nightly CM goodness.
I can then go on to finish the I577 port and get them on their way as well...

Hell yeah! In a couple of weeks we went from doubting whether we'd ever see ICS on our phones to official CM10 support.
Seems I've lucked out with the purchase of my last two phones thanks to the awesomeness of the folks here on XDA. A couple years ago the HD2 was the most powerful subsidized phone available from T-Mobile (Nexus One was probably the best phone but couldn't afford to buy it in full). I reluctantly bought the HD2 but wanted Android OS so bad. About a month later devs ported a stable rom over via SD card and then made it NAND flash-able.
A couple months ago I was due for an upgrade again. I had to buy two phones (my wife's MyTouch 3G just wasn't cutting it for her) so I was again on a limited budget. When I looked at the specs I chose the Blaze since it seemed like the most powerful phone for the money. I was again bummed because it was running an older OS version than my two year old WinMo phone but now here we are!
:good::victory:
Could someone explain to a newbie, like myself, how official CM is different than unoffical.
Does it mean that offical CM fixes are automatically generated for Blaze every night? Is there a different place to grab these updates, than here in the Blaze Development forum.

Yeah, CM official will be generated on their servers (which are some serious kit) vs. the 4.5 hours builds required of my home machine.
The nightlies (in theory) should begin tonight, I'll update the main thread once it's all officially there.
I've been working closely with the devs in CM to get all this committed, therefore the next nightly should be just like my 10/09 build + my BLN fix + changes within CM from 10/09-10/12 (which in theory will be the first nightly). And then every nightly after that will get the CM updates moving forward.
With CM10 being official, it might not be too far of a jump to also add official CM9 builds. The device definition is mostly the same, just a matter of different binary blobs for the video. I'll have to talk to the guys about that.
The majority of the work I did was in porting the kernel changes into the main kernel repo. This is also going to benefit the CM9 build as erikmm asked for a copy of my patches. It means he'll get my WiFi random MAC bug (until I fix it), but other stuff should work... better?

We'll get an M in a Month, the M3 (hopefully about the same time I place my order for an M3 ). They specifically held the kernel patches back so they could roll out the M release first. And they did this understandably. The patches I did could have seriously affected a few other builds (T989, I727, I717), etc... So they waited till after the monthly to add the kernel patches and add us to the device tree. CM had been in a soft freeze mostly for the last week.

As many us experienced, the OPO seems to be riddled with issues.
My biggest issues are:
-Multi-touch
-Ghost touch/Typing issues
-Camera. Often says it is not connected.
OPO has said the Multi-touch and touchscreen related issues are software. I was wondering if any custom ROM as already figured out the solution. Not being able to type quickly and correftly is extremely aggravating.
I know the issues with ghosting. It's really annoying. I've just slowed down my typing speed but it still gets annoying. It's likely a software thing. The camera issue is the camera driver failing to start. Happened on my lg g2 however the kernel dev added a button to his app that restarted the camera driver. I get the error when I use snapchat a lot. Besides those I'm really liking this phone!

The camera issue is the camera driver failing to start. Happened on my lg g2 however the kernel dev added a button to his app that restarted the camera driver. I get the error when I use snapchat a lot. Besides those I'm really liking this phone!

Have you tried any custom ROMs? Found any solutions? Seems to be getting worse.. Really sucks.
The only way you're going to find out is to flash a ROM for yourself. Make a backup first, that way if you need to go back out only takes a couple of minutes to restore it.

Well I am pretty sure Camera issue is due to incorrect GApps installed (if you are on custom ROM), for me I have moved from CM to PA to Mahdi and never had any issues. In terms of typing issues there was a fix made on Mahdi (from CM commit I guess) and it has improved but no 100% gone yet. But as far I know it should be fixed relatively soon with CM update (big one) pending. Apart for multi touch i find the phone pretty nice actually Just my $.02

I've heard good things about Mahdi. Now seriously considering!

They don't ever give ETA's, just like any other dev, and it's rude to ask them.

Awe bummer.. No time line for my suffering.
Although I agree with not asking for eta when it comes to a freelance developer, I do think this is different as they are no longer a developer that does it for their leisure and pleasure, but cm now does it for a profit, profit that comes from our pockets as we pay for the phone. So in my opinion, we have a semi right to know when what we're paying for, will be fixed
Not trying to argue. I agree it's rude to ask other developers for eta

True, although we never get eta for updates from samsung, lg, HTC or really even Google for that matter. Lol.

I think we've given up on them haha
In the past few days, I've seen that a lot of devices have started to get Lollipop ROMs, such as the 1+1, Xperia Z3, Galaxy SIII Mini, and even the SII. I am wondering, is there any developer currently working on Lollipop for the d2vzw/d2lte? If not, does anybody have any idea how to compile Lollipop for the SIII?
Been lurking around as well. Noticed that the i9300 and the i747 models (no longer unified) both have Alpha Lollipop roms in production. Currently on Moto X (First Gen) but would love to dust off the old GS3 to get an early taste of 5.0. Been looking into porting but it's well over my head, plus I don't want to be the guy who bricks his backup by trying to port an early rom build. Would love to see a thread pop up tho about a release

Carbon Rom is moving in that direction, but it will take some time to see a build I'm sure. They don't tend to release unpolished roms.. Especially on a new version of Android

Makes sense. Haven't been around the scene in a while (my Moto X is locked down tight) so I thought I'd take a peek and see if you guys were getting any Lollipop love just yet lol Thanks for the response and I look forward to what the devs push out soon!
Welp, did a bit of digging and got the rom working on my GS3 but unfortunately I have no signal (voice) but LTE is working. At this point I imagine it's a kernel issue unless someone knows otherwise. gonna do a bit more digging tonight to see if I can't fix the problem.

Any update on the build? The d2att/ATT SIII has a working build already. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/orig-development/cyanogenmod-12-t2944071
Would it be possible to compile this for the VZW SIII?

It's not safe. DO NOT flash an AT&T ROM on the Verizon variant.

Absolutely not. Only if it specifically states d2lte. This one says d2att which can and will brick your device

I am really excited for a lolipop ROM. Do you guys know of any developers working on one for the VZW GS3?

One of them may be updated, I'm not aware of any but I'm not always in the development forums anymore
From my CM11 S3
As the others have stated, I wouldn't recommend flashing the At&t variant even though we share similar hardware (basically the same). Since the GS3 is my backup, I tweaked their rom and it booted for me, but like I said, there is no voice/sms working even tho LTE does activate oddly. I went to the IRC to see what I needed to look into but the devs there confirmed that they are indeed working on a rom for you guys already and I know they have made better progress than me. Wasn't looking to duplicate efforts, so I said I'd just stop and wait like everyone else cuz it'll be so much safer in the end. Sorry if I got anyone hyped but legit builds are in the works by expert devs, so no worries!

Theres a VZW Lollipop ROM from Mastamoon that works pretty well. Its under his CM11.X thread though, a link on that thread is a page back or so.
Camera doesn't work, but you can download open camera from the market which works.
Edit:
Didn't realize @TheSiK1 already linked it.
MastaMoon said hes not really gonna work on it much though...
Are there other devs you talked to that are working in it or just MastaMoon?

CM12 official will be here soon enough. After reading a bunch of comments it's quite buggy. Personally I'm going to wait to flash it

I'm using right now and considering, I found the first 4.4.4 ROMs much bugger than this one. Using it as a daily driver. Home button only works after screen is unlocked. Can't wake phone using home button.

If its buggier than CM11 how come the home button doesn't work properly? Sounds like a bug to me, this is a good reason why a lot of people don't test things out until the bugs are worked out

There's no question its not perfect.
I don't mind being a bit of a guinea pig as long as it doesn't brick my phone!
I'm just surprised its not more buggy than it is this early on!

True, but I'm not one to always jump on a rom right away. Plus CM from cyanogen mod will be out soon enough anyways

The build, at least for me, has been pretty great so far. The home button does in fact work, you just can't wake the phone with the home button. But I understand that people need something very stable to use, but I'm OK with a few bugs.
