Hey guys
My mom and day just upgraded to the s5 as well.... They have both the black ones.... I have the white ones...
I was just looking at both their phones and saw a small gap between the chrome bezel and the screen....
On my phone (white one) the bezel is sealed tight and flsused with the LCD...
We took it back to the sprint store and replaced it with two different black ones..... same issue....
Is this normal and will it affect the dust and water resistant?

I bought an HTC Evo 4G LTE on Friday along with a screen protector and a case. Anyway, I'm no good at putting on the screen protectors, so I asked the phone guy at best buy to put it on. Fast forward to this evening and I noticed what appeared to be 3 small specks of dust that got under the protector, with a larger one. As I was inspecting them, I found that they were actually tiny black circles (think speck of dust size or even dead pixel size). I'm going to be taking the phone back tomorrow for a replacement, but in the meantime, I'm curious what these are? I've done a lot of googling and the closest two pieces of information I've been able to find say they are either dead pixels because they are about the right size and show up best against a white background, or that they are moisture damage.
The question is, which seems most likely? Can dead pixels manifest themselves as circles rather than squares? And also could moisture damage be so minimal that only four little spots appeared? I should point out that the screen protector was the variety that uses a liquid sprayed on the phone to ensure a good clean overlay on the screen, and also that the salesperson used some blasts of compressed air directly on the screen to try and clean it before applying the protector (I've heard thats a big no-no).
I had a similar problem once with a no name chinese tab.
I noticed a bunch of black spots (square) the size of dead pixels all over the screen. I removed the protector and wiped the screen clean. It was tiny specks of dust indeed.
While blowing hot air onto the screen is a big NO-NO, IMO blowing compressed air wouldn't cause damage. Its the heat that damages the LCDs.
Curious how specks of dust would produce that effect, considering they are not uniformly shaped. Anyway, I've got my fingers crossed now that the problem really is dust rather than a bad screen, since I would hate to start this new phone off the same way I started my last one (returned for defective hardware / software 3 times in 3 months).
Thanks for the input and I'll be sure to post up the results tomorrow when I take the phone into the store. I've already discussed it with the store and since the salesperson was the one who installed the protector, if it turns out to be dust, they will replace the $25 protector free.
Turns out it was dust, or some other contamination, but it was UNDER the screen so that, while you could see them with the phone turned off, you couldn't get at them in any way. Home now with a replacement phone, but as my first experience with HTC, I'm not super impressed...
I have been waiting with you guys ALL year and ILOOME was the only company that tried and tried to get us a screen protector. After 13 prototypes they failed and gave up I see. Now almost a year later and with SG EDGE and S6 EDGE+ as well as NOTE 5 it seemed like all hope was lost. But I just found out a Chinese Company just released a 9H GLASS screen protector!! You can get then on EBAY today! The catch is there about $25 and they ship from China which means you have to wait up to get it. I buy from China a lot and I get stuff usually in less than 2 weeks. But thats me and Im special. ...If you do a search on ebay for Note Edge Glass Screen Protectors you will find them about 10 items down. Some sellers are selling them with S6 Edge. The glass has white or black paint on the tips to blend in. And you will see some are gold for the Note 5 and S6 Edge...Good Luck and Happy Shopping!!! I ordered mine today so I cant say how good they are or tell you the quality for that matter. But for that price coming from China it should be NICE!
I ordered one, and when I got it, the glass wasn't curved. Even though the picture showed it was. Seller refunded my money. Please report back when you get it and it's confirmed that the edge is protected

Both sides? You mean in and out? Because a curve on the left side would mean S6 and not the Edge.
I got the Note 4 and the Edge one is still one the way... the quality on this phone is really nice it has a white edges rounded to match my wife's white note 4 I ordered black because my Edge is black still waiting.... fingers crossed
No, look close at your left side. The screen has slight curve at the edge. Note edge full coverage glass screen protection is finally here lol

F'ing awesome!! Thanks for the pics. Which one did you end up getting?? Going to order asap!!
Here is a proper ad for them. Do yourself a favor and get it from someone that has it listed like this. I recived silver not clear and they being a total pain to deal with and if course they in china lol
I actually found it on amazon and its coming in next day shipping. This way I don't have to deal with some BS from China or Hong Kong. It may be a little more expensive but with amazon backing it, I feel it's worth it.
It looks to be the same design with the same colors that excessive81 got. I'll let everyone know when I get it in. Here is the link:

Been waiting for these im tired of having this ugly protector on my screen
Well I just got my gold tempered glad protector in from the link that I provided above and so far I am loving it. The installation was a breeze just make sure you clean the screen well! The curves are perfect, texting works like a charm and swiping the edge works without any issues. It does feel very odd like the screen protector is almost floating which I kinda think it is. I'll post picture to follow but you can see there are small dots where the protector comes in touch with the digitizer and cutouts where the back button and multi task button are as well. You have to look really close or at a certain angle to see this and unless you were looking for it you wouldn't notice. The gold colored borders act as the adhesive and as I was pulling off the back seal I could feel that the border was the sticky part not the see through screen area. The only issue I am seeing with it is the colored border is a slight hair off so the led behind the two bottom buttons don't shine through correctly unless you are at a slight angle and the top sensors, the word Samsung, and the front camera are also slightly off. This does pose a slight problem when you are using the front camera as there is a slight dark area on the top left and the bottom left corner. I don't use the front facing camera so it's not an issue for me but those of you that take selfies I know would have an issue with this. Overall I typed this entire review with it and had no problems texting at all and I give it 4.5 stars out of 5.
Edit.... Just realized that due to extra thickness of the protector my Oem flip cover doesn't close all the way. Enough that it turns off the screen and doesn't wake up but it stays slightly open. Hopefully it will correct over usage.
Oh and the S Pen works beautiful!! It glides on the glass amazing and writing with it is like there is no protector on the screen on all.
Pictures! Open the bottom one and zoom in to see the dots.
I guess after the picture is taken the dark ring is upper right and bottom right. I attached a picture to show.
Hi guys,
I have replaced the screen in my nexus 5 twice now. I purchased the screens from Amazon. The first screen on white backgrounds I would kind of see a square image on the screen in white. It kind of looked like the outline of the battery. It also had a few white spots on the screen. I tried loosening some of the screws but it didn't help. I contacted the seller and he recommended another replacement. He sent out another screen plus digitizer and frame.
The new screen arrived and I put it in. This screen is a lit better. I know only get 3 tiny white spots about the size of the screws in the nexus 5. Two look like they are where the battery would be inside the phone. The third is about 3 quarters of the way up the screen in the middle and slightly to the left. Why does this keep happening? Anyone got any ideas on what could be causing this?
One thing I have noticed is in the dark with the screen on around the sides of the phone in places I can see slivers of light shining around the screen. It seams that the tape that the screen provider used was not sticky enough. Could this be what is causing the white spots? The screen seams firmly attached at the top and bottom just the sides. I heated it up with a blow dryer and held the screen down till it cooled. It slowly goes back to the way it was.
Thanks,
Rocky
Light bleeding from the edges of the frame in a dark environment is not uncommon with 3rd party screens. Putting on a case can help a lot.
As for the white spots, it may be a manufacturing defect that has nothing to do with the way you assembled the phone.
So there is nothing that can be done about the white spots? I don't understand how both screens did this. Seams like there is a very high failure rate. From comparison and matching numbers s to the stock digitizer the replacement seams to be a stock digitizer and frame. The white spots are annoying.
It's possible that both screens came from the same production run. I used screens from aliexpress and only one had a bit of light bleed around the frame. Once I put on a case, you could not see the light bleed.
None of the replacement screens had any dead or stuck pixels or hot spots.
i just got an s6 from a friend for about $30, this is the first oled screen for me and its gorgeous! only issue was what seem an adhesive liquefies on the screens top right corner near front facing camera, i know its a common issue on the edge series but does the bubbles spreads even more overtime? what can i do to resolve this without replacing the whole lcd assembly? i mean just the digitizer can be replaced?
Hey all,
I bought my flip the day it came out and have developed some cracking and peeling on the crease of the screen. Is this something I can easily fix with a new screen protector or is this something I need to call Samsung for and use the warranty?
Wowsers, may I ask how that happened? I'd get onto Samsung. That's what the warranty is for after all!
This is just normal use. I don't do anything crazy. I have a desk job. It just started cracking one day and keeps getting progressively worse.
Hi i had the same problem. i saw a crack in the protector horizontaly in the crease right side 2 weeks ago(i bought zflip 3 on end of august) with a gray reflect on White color of the screen.
I decided to remove the protector (you tube vidéo helps to it and furthermore in the french stores all Zflip 3 demo units had no protector on it like flip 1). I bought an hydrogel protector taylor cutted by machine.
The bad big surprise is that the Samsung original protector is not an hydrogel one but a simple sticker like S20 models !! It's a shame for a foldable and the risj to damage the screen is high.
Now i have my z flip 3 with hydrogel that i managed to put myself because the vendor was not sure..... The feeling is better, feels stronger and i love typing text on it after.
I have 2 micro bubbles left but it's far better than to have a cut in the plastic.

Update: I got a new screen protector on Amazon and everything is perfect now. Removal and replacement wasn't much different than a standard phone.
Well done!!!, the phone is better after, the screen seems stronger, typing is easier and its protected!!!

Is it true when you replace the original protector with something else and it is not done by Samsung, warranty will be void?
