I recently purchased a g tablet from office depot, when I got it home I let it charge up. When I turned it on it said there was a update so I let it install, but when the tab restarted and came back up I noticed I now have a bluish line running horizontally across the screen about an inch from the bottom. By chance did the update cause this or is it just pure chance it happened on the reboot.... anyone else ever run into this?

I got same problem. I think it is factory defect. It is like dead pixel.
I think I have to exchange for different one.
Yeah kinda what I was figuring to. Have to call in the morn see if they have one for an exchange.

Using stock? And did it seem OK with the original firmware? It could actually be a firmware issue, as I know that VS / TnT updated the graphics drivers.
I have not seen this issue myself, but you could have a different board that could be affecting you. It's possible.
I actually saw this one when I updated from my original ROM to the first OTA update.
Since then I have applied two other updates and have not seen it.
FYI. I have contacted VS about other issues. I was not aware of the 30 days replacement warranty.

SEARS has this, and I think Staples was 14 days. They'll exchange / take a return if there's a hardware defect. Not sure what OD's policies are.
If you recently purchased it (ie. after Thanksgiving), you probably fall under the more lax return policies most stores have for holiday shopping. If you were planning on running an alternate firmware, I'd give vegan or tnt lite a go and see if the line goes away. If you're planning or remaining stock, then I'd say return it and see if the next one has the same issue.
This just happened to me on the latest ota.
happened after first ota update. tried restoring it but no go. ended up exchanging for new one now everything is peachy
I purchased a Transformer yesterday which will be my second one. I returned the first one. Wondering why I have not received the 3.1 update on new device. The first one updated over night. Anyone have any idea what the time frame is for the 3.1 update? I have a full battery and great wifi signal. I have checked in about phone for updates many many times. I have done a search and nothing seemed to come up regarding this. Any and all help is appreciated.
I received mine today... connected to my wifi... 5min later it updated.

I must admit and also agree i cannot understand why people cant just download the update from the asus website.
I think it is an issue though maybe with the lack of a decent manual,if it was mentioned when you opened the box up that firmware can be manually updated from the site we wouldnt hae to view the same posts all day.
Also it may mean we have a lot of new users which means they are selling the transformer like hot cakes.

Because the serial number on my TF is invalid. When I checked in to register the device it kept coming back "invalid serial number" I contacted Asus and was told to take the device back for exchange or refund as they have an internal investigation as to why units were being produced but not entered into data base and they have no time frame for resolution. Seems it is spread throughout the globe, look in this forum and you will see it is an issue for numerous devices. No valid serial number means NO warranty down the line. So what good would it do to manually update when you have no warranty??? Also why should an individual settle for a $400.00 device not functioning as it should out of the box??Yes not having a valid serial number and no warranty and no update are unacceptable. Please excuse me for asking a question on this forum. I got a refund as they had no Transformers on hand for exchange. I now have decided not to purchase until they get this serial number issue sorted out,(if they ever do)or perhaps looking into the Toshiba Thrive.
You should return it if you have a invalid serial number, your going to have warrenty issues if you ever need to send it back for repair

Yes Exactly what I did. I checked the display ASus in Office Depot where I purchased the device and it has not been updated either and has full wifi signal and plugged into power supply and I did a manual check and it came back no update available.. I wonder if it has the invalid serial number issue as well. I would really like to know how wide spread this "invalid serial number" is.
well i had to manually update mine. because it never got the update. but when i registered it, it registered fine.

Iconia users (me) suffer from delayed updates and then they're pushed 1 or 2 days (by states or regions) then pulled away, so, some are stock, some updated and some have 3.1... wich I think is worse.

I bought mine today and recieved it OTA within 15 minutes of hooking into my WiFi.
I bought an Asus Transformer here in the UK about a week or so ago, only to get it home and try all the Rooting / Downgrading methods (Aaarghhh, Damn B70 version), pity I didn't know sooner.
Anyway I've decided to buy another one from Staples and give this one to my brother, I got the guy instore to check the serial number for me and he's put a B60 one away for me to pick up tomorrow, but before I buy it, I'd just like to check, are all the B60's Rootable and Downgradable. I'd hate to waste another £350.
I have looked for info on this but can't seem to find the info I need. Also the power drain issue on the B60's, is this something that still exists after installing a new ROM, or is there another way around it...
Thanks ...John...

I have a B60 rooted..but I don't know if every B60 could be rooted..
All B6O's can. The key change happened during the B7O run.
No Problem, all B6O are rootable. The locked SBK starts with the latest B7O models the first B7O's are rootable too.
I have a B5O tab and a B6O dock and there is no powerdrain problem.
You can buy a B6O without having any problems with rooting and flashing rom's.
Have fun with your new rooted Transformer and sorry for my bad english

For some reason I've already posted this and it didn't work, but...
Thanks for the info, at least I can go and buy my new one without that annoying niggle in the back of my mind.
I was just wondering, though. Apart from the secure boot key, are the B60 & B70 tablets the same, and if not, what are the difference between the two. I,ve heard some stories of creaky cases and speaker imbalance problems..
Thanks ...John...

The problem with the cases and speakers can happen with all TF tabs (incl. B7O). For the speaker problem the Update 3.2 should help. If not the custom Rom will solve the problem.
I'm happy with mine it's 100% o.k. No creaky case, no lightbleed, no batterydrain and no speaker problem.

Just a quick update, I bought the new transformer, and I've successfully managed to root it and also installed CWM.
I'm still running the stock ROM at the moment, time to go to bed I think, got work in the morning. :-( I'll try the Revolver ROM tomorrow when I get home.
Thanks for all the info, up to now everything seems OK with it, none of the previously mentioned problems.
Thanks ...John...

So I sent my tablet back to Asus a few weeks ago because it wouldn't turn on/charge. They replaced the main board and sent it back.
Everything was smooth sailing until I discovered that the tablet was running an old android version. I checked for updates in the "About Tablet" section of settings and received the message: "Internet connection error or the server is busy. Please wait a moment and try again" - I've waited three weeks.
My tablet previously had a US SKU, but now runs on WW with the new main board.
I decided that since I can't OTA, I may as well unlock my tablet and get rid of this piece of **** stock ROM. Alas, I'm also unable to unlock my device or connect to the device tracker. I suspect all these problems are related.
I know I can update manually, but I didn't pay good money for this tablet to use workarounds.
Has anyone experienced this problem before? If so, how did you go about fixing it?
Any help or advice would be appreciated! I would rather not send my tablet back to the service center again.

I receive the same error when checking for a system update. My tablet is completely stock and was not send for rma and also is on the latest android version. The system update screen shows the last successful update check was on 15/9.
I'm experiencing this as I type this. I haven't RMAed my tablet or anything, bone stock. For some reason it gives me that error now. I have a feeling its a issue on Asus end.

Don't know where you are actually located and where the service center that handled your RMA is, but if you are in the US, they screwed up. If you are in the US and running a WW firmware, you won't get OTA updates.
If you are in a WW region, you can try to clear cache and data and then force close CMClient and DMClient under Apps > All, reboot and try the system update again.
Not being able to unlock after having the main board replaced is unfortunately a very common issue.

Another possible reason for not getting updates is the servers in Taiwan do not have the new MB information matching the serial number of the tablet. That will cause updates to not register. Try connecting to the Asus device tracker website but as you stated it does not work. If that does not work then that is pretty much your proof. Only way to fix this is to have someone at the HQ in Taiwan update the server there with the proper information. After that if the website works then you should get updates again and unlock the tablet. If you contact phone support you will be wasting your time since they can't fix the problem and will say send it back for rma.
Look up the thread on the device tracker not working. You will find answers there if the servers do not have the proper info.
Good luck.

I needed to RMA my tablet again for an unrelated screen problem anyway, so I figured I'd try and get them to fix the device tracker/unlock issue at the same time. I called the service center (Australia) and told them that they messed up on the last RMA and now I couldn't use the device tracker anymore.I physically attached a letter explaining the issue (to the screen of my tablet) and away to the service center it went.
15 days of RMA later, I was reunited with my tablet and now everything works: updates (for the time being), device tracker and the unlock tool.
The fact that they don't just update the server information when they replace the mother board is fairly stupid and inefficient on their part. Oh well, I'm just happy I can use my tablet to its potential now.
Thanks for the help and information everyone!
Hello, my mom really wanted a new phone fast because right now she uses an old samsung and it's has some problems but for her phone is in need because of work... So in eBay we found an awesome deal! OnePlus One auction, and we won that phone only for 37 pounds. Phone has to come tomorrow, but I was scrolling through eBay and I wanted to read some feedbacks on seller again so I went to OPO information and then I readed that phone doesn't pick up any network. So, I know that mother will kill me because network will not work. So I wanted to ask, is there any way fix that fast without any parts changing? Just change something in settings and it will work?
Are you serious dude?
Ever heard of "If it looks too good to be true, then it probably is"?
If it was that easy to fix then it would have been sold for far more than £37. Basically, no chance of fixing it in settings I'd guess, but you could try flashing a factory ROM image and praying lots.
Not sure until you actually get the phone and see what's wrong with it.
Soo, phone came and any sims doesn't work on him. So we took it to the repair, they told that they will see if they can fix it. So we waited until next day, they told that they will try to fix it until today. We came to the repair and they told that they changed the sim tray and problem still exist and they said to us to wait until tomorrow if phone gets any better they will call us. But my mom wanted to know, can be that problem can't be fixed at all?
Does the phone show IEMI in Settings/About Phone/Status/IEMI Information? "do not post your IEMI" just let know if does.
For the price you've paid inc the repair you could have got a Nexus 5 in good condition on Ebay.

I think so that it shows IMEI, I can't check right now because phone is teardowned and I saw that antenna was corrupted so we gonna changed it on Thursday and what about nexus 5, we could get it but only 16gb but my moms needs more memory so .
And more about IMEI, last time when I checked IMEI was in place but I don't know what about last time when I restored the phone after flashing ROMs .
If you have TWRP installed try backing up the EFS partition. That's where the IMEI is stored.
There's no more problems after antenna change, thanks everyone who tried to help!
