So I recently upgraded from my Nexus 5 from 4.4.4 KitKat to the Android L developer preview that was released in October. Now that the official final build is coming to Nexus devices, will I have to MANUALLY update to the final build, or will I get an OTA update (Considering I am using the PREVIEW right now) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yes you will need to flash the new update to your phone. OTAs aren't supported in the developer previews

I new to the Nexus 5, I used to to used the HTC One and on the One I could flashed ROM, radio, and firmware. I know that Google will soon release Android 4.4.3. Currently I have my Nexus 5 rooted with TWRP and PA. On my old One what I did when HTC released 4.4.2 update, was I flashed the phone back to stock (with S-OFF) get the update then rerooted with a custom ROM so that I can have the latest firmware. My question is that will I have to do the same thing too? Does the Nexus 5 even have a firmware update? If the new update does contain a new firmware can I used the method I used on the One? Or can I just update my PA ROM to 4.4.3 and be done?
Thanks for the help, I am just confused right now.

pa will add 4.4.3 into the rom when the code gets released. all youll have to do is update your pa rom when they release it.

Hi guys,
what you think about possibility of an OTA for CM11S, to upgrade Android version to 4.4.4 ?
Do you think it will be?
Regards.

Being honest I'm surprised it wasn't launched on 4.4.4 so I'd imagine we'll get there eventually

Yes, that's it....i'm surprised too!!
That's why i'm asking you guys!!
Android 4.4.4 exists for a long time, and i don't understand why CM11S don´t have it, even CM11 for OnePlus works in Android 4.4.4, but CM11S(dedicated ROM) not.
Thank you, for your reply!
We all are waiting for next CM11S OTA Update....
They announced another update for this week or next

Still not OTA update for Android 4.4.4....that's what we are talking about...
But it seems it is on it's way to get it.
About normal CM 11 nightlys, yes, already rolls with Android 4.4.4, but for sure you lose some features dedicated to OnePlus One, developed in CM11S, like Camera features.
So, i think it's better to wait for new CM11S OTA.
Regards

Lets be honest your asking in xda has anyone play with nightlies... come on now 95% of the people in here are running a custom rom. Waiting for a company to update your phone when there are capable developers here making your phone better to me is a waste of time. Root and upgrade your phone at your leisure and enjoy. Here is the changelog from 4.4.3 and 4.4.4
whatever is lost from 11S can be obtained just by searching this forum and nightlies of course will have more upldated options

Camera, lockscreen and kernel from CM11S can all be implemented back into nightlies
as far as version 4.4.4 of android is an openssl fix which is already present in cm11s. its nothing but a number at this point. but there will be an ota update soon. my guess is by wednesday if they keep doing updates on a monthly schedule.

I thought I read somewhere that CM11s camera will work on CM11 ROMs by just installing the .apk

Yes it can and I stated that on the page earlier. Also its only an apk not a big deal to try and see if it works. I use it on every rom that I have flashed in here including CM11
More than anything, they need to merge the latest CM M9 improvements into this next OTA. I don't even know if the current software is based on M8 or not.

No and this information is out there may I suggest some research. Please research before rooting as well so you know what you are getting into and know all your risks.
Plus any OTA will have a zip in the forum anyways. Plus they are on 4.4.2 we are all on 4.4.4 with Android L rom in the works. Be ahead of the curve root your phone and flash new CM

Sure, just flash the factory image in fastboot with the `flash-all`command in cmd. This will wipe the device so backup first

Play Store and OS is not really related, but please correct me if I am wrong.
You still can update to 5.0 manually via e.g. factory image. Nevertheless this will wipe your device (if you do not adjust the script) which is actually adviced with every major Android version (e.g. 4.4.4 to 5.0). There are guides in general that you can follow.
I just flashed back to stock to receive some OTA updates I've missed and not much has changed honestly so my question is what's the newest android version and built/software?
Right now I'm at:

I appreciate that. It shows the update 21r but doesn't show what the update is about. I believe this is the last update I'll need for a while so I should be able to root at this point and post up for a while.
Yes id wait for marshmallow to be out for a while to to see bugs and such before updating to it too i run kk until about 2 months ago just because of all the bugs

It hasn't come out yet for the US Unlocked model, AFAIK.
FWIW, if you jump on the One UI 5 Beta (Android 13),it's on the August 2022 security patch.

It's all right here:
How to install the One UI 5 beta on your Samsung phone
The One UI 5 beta is upon us! Here's how you can sign up for the program and be the first to test Samsung's latest OS.
www.androidpolice.com
No data is lost on the upgrade, just as with any stable Android update, but, if you do decide to roll back to Android 12, it will reset your phone.
@vvrrare
If you use any GoodLock modules, some have not been updated for compatibility with One UI 5.
