[Q] Picture for multi user account with Android Lollipop - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I just flashed from 0 the new Lollipop on my Nexus 5 (with full wipe)
At first startup I entered my google account data and everything is in sync correctly but I do not see my photo appear in the top menu circle.
But it worked well with the previous version.
I tried to remove my google account and add it back but without success. even to remove my google + account.
If you have any idea.
For the moment i put an image manually but i would prefere to have my google+ profile picture.
Thx
F.

This is what i have done.
1. Open Setting -> Apps -> All -> Contacts Storage -> Clear Data
2. Open Google+ -> Settings -> Your account (under Account Settings) -> Contacts -> Keep contacts up to date

I've got the same problem and the above solution didn't work for me. Any suggestions?

I tried it. It does work. Plus, the picture is correctly updated if I change it in google+ (but there is a delay of many hours).
My hardware : nexus 10, lollipop 5.0 Kernel 3.4.67-gf299445
good luck

Is there anyway to remove the photo and leave it blank?

Identity theft?

As far as I understand, there are no way of securing personal data on an android phone (?)
Now that millions are walking around with unsecured devices with their google account information, facebook, twitter, etc logins all stored in cleartext, doesn't this open up for huge problems with identity theft and general security issues with people putting more and more of their life in these services, but losing their mobiles and let others get to their data?
Not meaning to troll, just concerned, and just got an android mobile...
Homescreen -> Menu Button -> Settings -> Location & Security -> SCROLL DOWN -> Install encrypted certificate -> set pasword

It is not clear to me if that helps secure i.e. stored passwords from the browser, or passwords/credentials for the different apps.
I'd appreciate all insight on this issue!

[Q] facebook contacts

hello everyone i just want to ask a quick question, my sensation 4g which has s-off is rooted and has android revolution hd 3.6.4 flashed i have logged into facebook and it has synced all my contacts from facebook to my phonebook which i dont want, so what i wanted to know how can i remove all the facebook contacts without having to log out?
Go to people- > settings -> view. Select ONLY Facebook contacts.. Then go and delete them all in people - > options - > delete - > select all
Other method is to go to applications->manage applications->facebook->clear data..
But i think that, other method will erase your account.. I dont know exactly
I hope i helped
Cheers
Or, since you're on 3.6.4, go into contacts, tap menu/view and uncheck Facebook for HTC Sense. That should hide them.
Alternatively, clear Facebook data as above, log back in, and when you open contacts for the first time, tell it to only sync data how you want it to. Either all FB contacts, only the ones in your phone, or none.

If you disable the Google Photo sync to remove Picasa albums, you loose Google+ upload photos function.
I have the same problem. I tried deleting some of the pictures straight from Picasa and now , where I deleted the photos I get blank spots in my phone's gallery . Also, as you stated disabling the sync seem not to work.
If somebody has found a solution we're waiting for an answer.

Use this one instead the original. First make backup of the original app, then push it with the ADB.
Can you please let us know what edits were made to this apk?

As long as you stopped Google photo sync, try clear cache in Google+ in setting will have picasa albums cleared.
I had this problem as well, after a bit of googling here's what I did and it worked for me (I was offline during this process!):
1. stop google photo sync in accounts & sync settings
2. go into the app drawer and drag the google+ app to the top where it says view app info
3. force stop it and clear data
4. do the same for the gallery app
after that I restarted the google+ app and restored my settings (keeping photo sync off when it asks you on startup of course) and the picassa albums were gone!
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I unselected the photosync from account and mounted as USB. Then when to android folder and then to Gallery 3D. Then I went to cache and deleted the files that had picasa in it and unmounted the phone. Then went to gallery from manage apps and deleted data and cache and voila ! =)
1. Make sure your "Google photos" option in "Accounts and Sync" is unchecked.
2. Go to Settings > apps > All Apps > Gallery. Now hit the "Clear data" button
3. Go to Settings > apps > All Apps > Google+. Now hit the "Clear data" button
4. Go to the Gallery app and hit the menu key and refresh.
5. Your albums won't go away immediately. Patience.
I got same problem, here my solution,
Remove that account (after sync all contents you want).
Disable Sync.
Add your account back.
Enable Sync and then fast disable Google-Photo sync in that account.

Cheers, worked a treat!
Or
simply observe Sync 'on', delete album from g+, re-sync, turn off sync.
Any solution which doesn't include turning off Google Photo synch?
For normal galleries, adding a .nomedia file in the directory would normaly do the trick.
Does someone know where the picasa pics are stored in the phone? (they're accessible offline too, right?)

[Q] How to disable sync contacts to gmail?

In previous android phones I could easily disable contacts sync to Gmail, leaving them only on phone.
But now in Nexus 5 I don't see such option to remove check in "contacts" check box.
Everything syncs by default.
Maybe it's now hidden somewhere else?
Or google did remove this option?

It's there - stock 4.4 rom. Go to Settings > Accounts & Sync > Manage Accounts - and find your gmail account, tap it and sub-menu open, you can uncheck contacts, photo, drive, music, etc. (same is my older HTC running Gingerbread)

Thank You for your tip
Oddly I didn't find option to turn it off there, but I did find it here in Nexus 5:
Settings -> Storage -> Apps -> Google Contacts Sync disable this application to prevent synching People with Google Contacts.
Problem solved

[Completed] Contact Data getting deleted

I purchased a Moto G4 mobile phone from Amazon about 2 months ago. At the time of purchase, I already had Airtel connection. In addition, I also got R Jio connection, which I am using for Whatsup & Browsing.
I have been noticing that on day to day basis, one or the other contact details is getting automatically deleted. I imported all details from Gmail a/c. Later someone suggested that the deletion is happening because of sync with Gmail. Hence, I delinked it. Even then, this problem continues.
Just at the time of requirement, when I want to call a person Or send an SMS Or whatsup, I notice there are no details. It is becoming difficult.
I have written to Google also and no response.
Awaiting an earliest solution.
Thanks,

Hi there and welcome to assist,
Try this...
1. Make a full backup of your contacts. To backup your contacts use any third party app from the PlayStore. I recommend using [SMS Backup & Restore] by Ritesh Sahu.
2. Make sure you have only one main Google account syncing. If you have any other Gmail account go to settings > Accounts > click on the other accounts and remove it for now.
3. Go to settings > backup and reset > uncheck Backup my data (this will erase all of ur backups on Google servers).
4. Restart your phone and restore you contacts using SMS Backup & Restore.
5. Go to settings again > Accounts > Google > here you should see your Gmail account. On top right corner click on the three dots > Sync now. Wait until it finish syncing.
6. You can now re-enable Backup my data. Settings > Backup & Reset > Check Backup my data.
7. Re add your other Gmail accounts.
If this method didn't work try to disable the Google Contacts Sync service with Startup Manager .
You'll have to create an account to post in the main forums if you have any other questions.
