Random FCs on apps - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Seems like from a week or so the apps are crashing very randomly no app is crashing all the time but I don't know which one will crash when
Any solution or way to find out what might be causing this ?

I'm having the same issue... usually its hangouts, twitter, or the system ui.
i am trying to test out if using ART will be more stable versus using the Dalvic Run Time.

Frequent "xxxxxxxx Not Responding. Wait? Close?"

Tried a couple of different ROMS out there, and I'm still getting frequent pausing, temporary locking up on my Gtab when trying to open apps. Am I rushing the poor old guy!? Usually it starts responding again before I even hit "wait" but the frequent pop-up when it slows is really getting to me. Anyone experiencing anything similar? Any good fixes???

What roms are you using? I had this issue with the last dirty bean but get it much less if at all with the 120dpi smoothbean. You can change the governor settins under settings/performance/processor as well as limit background processes to 2/1 that seems to help. I laso turn off sync on gmail which helps.

1. Try Advanced Task Killer and hit the widget button to nuke the memory hogs. There is
a lot of people who dont recommend task killing as a solution, but it seems to get me past the
force closes.
2. Try an old froyo rom like Vegan or TNT Lite 4.4

Recently I was having similar problems with the gtablet slowing down a lot, so I started uninstalling some of my apps.
I had about 220 apps with Application Storage at 212MB free. I messed some uninstall and got into a boot loop.
At which point I did a factory reset. The factory reset ROM was a lot faster. So when I restored my apps and settings
froim Titanium backup, I restored about 120 of them with Application Free Storage at about 700 MB now.
All the slowness of apps and market have gone away.
So I would say if you see a lot of Force Closes or hangs especially during Market Update, considering cutting
down on the number of apps you have. The key metric to see if you are getting full is the
Settings->Storage->Tablet Storage->Application Storage (for Froyo ROMs)

Lots of Random ANRs/Crashes

Recently after "upgrading" to stock ICS, my phone has been crashing randomly. Mostly when im using the stock web browser or YouTube apps. YouTube crashes are especially common for me, they usually happen when the screen rotates during video playback. Web crashes are random. Usually takes my phone a solid 2-5 minutes to become responsive again, that or I have to do a hard reboot. Not rooted. Everything stock. Help?
Since I develop Android apps, I tried using the logcat in IntelliJ to see where exceptions were being thrown, but I was unable to pinpoint the source of the crashes.

Nexus 5 consistently having apps crash

Lately my Nexus 5 has been having some issues. I first started noticing this when I'd get artifacts popping up while on chrome. Then during reboot, play services would crash, and sometimes the launcher would refuse to start. Then other apps like Hangouts would refuse to let me view messages without a app crash. Even 3rd party apps have crashed on me.
I've done a full wipe and put stock 4.4.2, three different times now and within a day I get the same symptoms all over again.
This has been going on for over a week, I have absolutely no idea what to do now.
Any ideas? Is perhaps the storage bad? Any way to test it? Or what should I do.
Thanks
Flash clean stock and don't install a single app for those few days and see what happens.
If nothing, install just a few apps at a time per day. If it suddenly starts....you'll know its one of the few apps you just installed.
That's all I got. Lol

Are you flashing a custom kernel with it? Are you undervolting at all, running art? I specifically ask for undervolting, cause that will cause things to crash | reboot.
No, no custom kernel. Everything I got was from googles factory image site. https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/hammerhead-kot49h-factory-02006b99.tgz
And I've never undervolted before. I could root and perhaps increase the clock speed. Also not running ART. I did a few months ago, but switched back.

Well aside from rooting, best you can do is force stop all those apps, particularly the ones that are crashing specifically, then clear those caches from the menu. After you've done all your problem apps, reboot.
If he did a full wipe and installed a fresh stock image....caches aren't the issue. Its probably one app wreaking havoc. Lol

[Q]Facebook Alpha Not Loading Due To ART?

Recently i have started to notice that the last 2 Facebook alpha's have been experiencing severe loading issues when signing into the app and also when opening the app these loading issues would stay on the below for 20mins+ with full Wifi connectivity etc. I could not understand why this was happening until i changed back to Dalvik and noticed the app started to work like it should with no loading errors whatsoever so im assuming its an ART issue that was not present untill the last 2 updates. Has anyone else had this issue?

You're using the Alpha. Stuff like this is bound to happen. Sometimes things may break and it'll stop working with ART until they fix it again.

I've the same problem, every time they update the app I have to wait for the app to setup again, it takes for ever.
This originally happened a while ago with ART, but then they fixed it. Looks like it's back. I had it stuck at that screen all day (terrible wakelock), and it finally loaded when I left it onscreen and turned the screen off for a while at night.
If it was completely an ART issue, it would not load intermittently as it does. If you clear the cache on the app after FCing it it will load eventually.
It's just sloppy, bloated poor coding by FB - nothing new.

Apps crashing and freezing

So recently my htc u11 started to freeze from time to time and apps are crashing a lot and this never used to happen at all! And jt lags a little sometimes. Am i the only one experiencing this? Is it because of the new update? What could be causing this? I have also had trouble with Google play and when i try to update apps sometimes it says "not responding"
Try wipe cache or a factory reset.
May help
