Database Info

Wiped system. Unable to boot... Please help

I unlocked and rooted my N5. After this I wanted to wipe everything (except my internal storage where I had my new rom and Franco kernel). When I wiped everything I wanted to flash my rom. But I could not find it on my device. It looks like all my folders are empty.
Now I have the problem that I cannot boot, since I wiped the system. Somehow I am unable to add a new rom to a folder.
Can someone help me with this?!!

sideload the ROM you where gonna flash. CWM sideload is working fine. If not push the file with ADB then flash.

I use TWRP as a recovery. I tried to sideload the rom and flashing it (all with wugfresh tool). But it keep hanging when it restarts and wugfresh tool is waiting for the device...
I'm not that familiar working with ADB...

Read the guide in General about going back to stock, and stop using toolkits - it's better to learn it the manual way in the long run

people just dont get that toolkits arent that great.

Toolkits are horrible(IMO). Do you have adb or fastboot installed independent of the tool? If not look at the guides in the general section. Get them installed and start form scratch. I'm assuming you can still enter fastboot and recovery mode. Use those guides to start over by flashing the official image. Then do the rest of it yourself without a toolkit. Trust me you'll be much happier that way. You'll also learn a lot more about your device and the tools needed to recover from things like this. Good luck.

Endless bootloop?

Hey guys just got my nexus yesterday and rooted today...my issue/question is after I flashed the lastest build I seem to be stuck in an endless bootloop I really need my phone so any help would be awesome. I've tried mounting the usb via CWM but that seems to not work at all. Does anyone else know a way I could get my phone to load or push a different file to flash? I'll probablly post this in Q&A or General as well but I thought I'd give it a shot here first!

How does one go about flashing TWRP though? I can't get my phone to mount USB storage in CWM nor can I get it boot to just download or transfer TWRP to it? Thanks for the quick reply btw

Copy file into the folder where you have fastboot.exe
Run cmd. Cd to that folder
Put phone in fastboot and connect to PC
"fastboot flash recovery (whatever the name of the recovery is).img" enter this in cmd.

Ummm... TWRP is a custom recovery LIKE CWM. Install it via Fastboot .
1. Boot into Bootloader
2. fastboot flash recovery namehere.img (in cmd)
3. Boot Into recovery
THEN follow the above instructions.

[Q] OTA bootloader update when rooted?

Hi guys,
I run rooted unlocked Nexus 5 with CM11. I wanted to update the ROM but it failed - I read a bit and found out that it is due to old bootloader version. I would like to update it but I'm not a friend with ADB and stuff.... It would be great to use the most easiest way. I got OTA update notification but have no idea what it does - will it unroot the phone? will I lose CM11 ROM? Just trying to figure out what backups and steps shall I do to update my ROM. How shall I continue from here?

Attempting to take the OTA will fail.
Download the factory image and extract bootloader-hammerhead-hhz11k.img
Boot your device into bootloader:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-hammerhead-hhz11k.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader

You have a custom recovery installed, right? Flash the bootloader zip via recovery. However, you need to get familiar with adb/fastboot as you're gonna need them if you ever find yourself in a tight situation to fix your device.
Open the "must read" thread linked in my signature and find the thread which has all the info about adb and fastboot.

Thank you! I get it about ADB, I had to solve one my problem in the past via ADB. Anyway, I just need to find the 4.4.4 bootloader in ZIP (or probalby .img will work too?) and flash it? That's it? Does it wipe my phone or something?

You just need to flash the IMG via fastboot, no wiping required!

Alright. One more thing. Is it possible to convert the IMG file I have into zip to be able to flash it in TWRP?
EDIT: I found that Nexus Toolbox for my 5 has the option to flash the bootloader image so I will try this variant.

You don't need to. Just boot into fastboot, connect to PC, fastboot flash bootloader name_of_file.img, reboot, done

it's easy you must become familiar with fastboot and add the second you aren't it will come back to haunt you

I'm still waiting for someone to make a thread saying their device is "bricked because flashed fastboot to adb using bootloader while in recovery with x toolkit"

Alright, i ****ed up. need help

My phone suddenly started showing zero reception, so i tried wiping it to just get a clean start. Im using TWRP (which i havent really used in the past) and did the "Wipe Data" option rather than the normal wipe because i'm a ****ing idiot. now it says there is no OS installed, so yeah.
I can still boot into recovery but not much else obvously. I'm hoping there's a way for me to mount the phone to my mac and load on a rom and fix it. I understand how stupid i sound but i really need someone to walk me though this. I used to mess around with my GS3 and all my old phones all the time and never had a problem but i haven't with my nexus really since i first got it. I swear i'm not actually retarded.
What are my options here?

You could probably just flash the stock Nexus 5 image from here developers.google.com android section. You'll see a bit saying nexus factory images.
If you can't actually manage to transfer the file on to your phone and flash it from recovery, then just use the tutorial on that page using adb and fastboot.

Yep. The options are fastboot flash stock system and boot.img or adb push a flashable zip to your sdcard and flash via recovery

Thanks a lot. Solved it with adb sideload cm11. i hadn't really ever used adb before so i was in a bit of a panic.

[Q] Android 5.0 Update Is not Installing in my Nexusu 5

Hi there,
i am a nexus 5 user and few days ago the new ANdroid 5.0 Updates has showed up in my device so i tried to install the update, but after downloading the 500 mb update, it booted the device and in the middle of installation, it start showing me the error. I have tried like 4 times...with Boot loader locked, unlocked.......... wipes out the cache partitioning,,,, factory reset and even when i tried to flash the devices..it just shows an error that "the archive doesn't have the recovery. sig and one more file".....Please help me what i do and i am currently on 4.4.4 KitKat................

You have to flash stock recovery, boot.img etc before installing the ota

Just read the guides in General and it'll tell you what to do...

Your error is most likely linked to a file that was edited. Anything from your gps.conf to having Xposed installed. For OTA to work, your phone has to be completely stock. Rooted is ok, just not modified.

The sig error doesn't mean anything. Just read the thread I told you about.
fastboot flash the system.img and boot.img for 5.0 and you're done.

where can i find the recovery.img??

hi there,
i read the thread and i got the whole process....except one....you were telling me about flash revovery...and boot loader.......so there has to be an existing image stored in the computer, through which we can overwrite the recovery and boot loader in the device......so do i have to download the factory image from Google or what.....?????

Download the factory image for 5.0 from google onto your pc. Unzip it. Turn on usb debugging on your phone. Its in developer options. Flash each image from the unzipped file in fastboot. Read the guide rootsu pointed you towards for the exact order and commands to enter. Once you know how to use fastboot itll take you ten min to be up and running on 5.0 lollipop.

Don't you have to have your boot loader unlocked?

The update wasn't installing for me either. I had to update manually. The best way is to root your phone, install twrp and flash the stock lollipop rom.
