JB to KK KEEP ROOT - Sony Xperia M2

Hello I updated to KK and found that towelroot didn't work on it so I rolled back to JB and now i'm trying to get back to KK AND keep my root. Possible? I used Flashtools so it doesn't let me update officially and i'll need to use Flashtools again to get to KK.
I don't mind losing data as long i can get root in KK i'm fine
Thanks in advance

[Q] Updating Rooted Phone - Keeping apps/data?

Hello all,
My Photon Q is rooted with the stock ICS ROM. I'd like to update it to at least JB cause I have a few apps that require 4.1. I've been away from the mod company for a while - what's the best way to update while keeping my current apps and settings? I have an OTA pending, if it would be easier to unroot, update via OTA, and root back (but not sure if unroofing would factory reset the phone).
Thanks for any and all help!

Unrooting doesn't reset the phone, but for safety, make a full nandroid backup of your phone's current state via recovery.

Can't update to Lollipop!

Hey guys, so I really need your help with this.
When I bought my phone it was on Kitkat 4.4.4, after a month, I got the Lollipop 5.0 update via OTA, updated and all ok, then after a while I got the 5.0.1 update, which had this major bug of memory leaking that kept draining battery like crazy.. So I kept searching on how to downgrade to Kitkat 4.4.4 and I followed all those steps to install Kitkat using fastboot/adb tools.. And it worked, I've been running Kitkat now for a week and it's amazing, no memory leak bug, no battery draining.
And just by curiosity, I tried to check the updates, but it says that my system is up to date.. I mean, it doesn't give me the Lollipop 5.0 update nor the 5.0.1.. What's up with that?
Does that mean that I can't update to Lollipop via OTA again? I just need some clarification about this if it is possible Screenshot has other information such as build number, kernel, etc..
PS: I have the CMW custom recovery installed, maybe that's what's stopping the OTA update?
Thanks guys ^^
The update isn't available to everyone all the time...it goes in batches..
Anyway you will eventually get the notification, but you wont be able to install it as you're modified. Anyway, no worries - you know how to do it manually now.

Easiest way to get from 4.4.4 rooted to 5.0.1?

My Nexus 5 is on 4.4.4 (was wating for first Lolipop update with some of the bugs fixed before updating.) It's rooted with TWRP. So I can't perform a stock OTA. I rarely mess with the ROM/Recovery/Bootloader so each time a major update comes out, by that time I forgot what to do. I know there are instructions out there but it's a bit scarey not knowing for sure if they are the right ones for my particular situation.
Essentially I want the easiest+safewest way to get from 4.4.4 rooted to 5.0.1. I don't mind going back to fully stock if that is the easiest+safest route. I can root again later down the road if I need to (not really making use of any apps that I can't live without that need root and having stock OTA would be simpler in the future.) If I have to lose all apps/data, so be it, but I'd obviously prefer not. I found these instructions, but they are going from 5.0.0 to 5.0.1

If anyone can throw me a bone, I'd be grateful.
Thanks

Just use the Google flash all bat file. Just backup everything to pc first
There is no need to go back to stock if you don't want to.

[Q] How to root 5.0.2 on Xperia Z3 ?

Hi Guys,
ı just updated to Lolipop via (23.1.A.0.690) Baltic Generic ftf.
Now i want to root my device for use incoming calls stereo speaker and for close all mod
i searched a lot of times. but i couldnt find the guide... can someone help or show me?
You cant
You will have to downgrade to .93, root, install recovery and flash a pre rooted version of 5.0.2
Thanks
But I dont want to start everything from zero. Can I do without cleaning data via flashtool
flashing a 4.4.4 rom over the 5.0.2 without wiping the data but you will probably get boot loops and force closes, when changing a major revision of android its always best to start fresh
if you are concerned about data just take a backup of the data of the existing 5.0.2 stuff then put it back on when you have rooted and flashed the rooted 5.0.02

I doubt that will happen as its easier to downgrade, root and then upgrade than to find a whole new exploit to root....

Lollipop OTA

So i eventually received my lollipop OTA this morning (UK, EE).............
But what exactly do i do with it
I'm rooted (Locked BL). I obviously can't install the OTA the normal way, can i ?
I was waiting for some custom ROMS to be made available but don't seem to see any. Will these follow soon since the Lollipop update has went global?
I'm kinda torn tbh.... i have my phone set up perfectly on KitKat and it looks amazing and some of my favourite xposed tweaks aren't available on Lollipop e.g. Blurred System UI.
Anyway...If i should decide to install Lollipop (i probably will) what would be the best method?
(Are we talking going back to stock, installing OTA, then re-rooting, or is there a more simple method?)
I believe u only lose root. Install and re-root is my fiddy cent...
Download your respective firmware and make a pre-rooted rom based on it.
And flash it via recovery.
Stick with KitKat.
Sorry to hijack the thread but if I root without unlocking bootloader, will I get to update normally via ota or companion app? I don't mind losing root access if only to reboot later. And does it affect drm keys etc?
I'm rooted with kitkat and received the prompt for lollipop OTA. The point is it downloads but won't install, so to upgrade you'd need to use flashtool, PC companion or boot into recovery and flash an appropriate zip. None of those should have any effect on your DRM, but you'll lose root unless you're flashing a pre-rooted version of lollipop. If you do opt for a rooted version of lollipop it's still a bit unclear whether recovery is fully available to you, and xposed installer has a rack of issues either way...... you might want to hold for now?
Thanks for that I'll wait it out for now. The only real reason I was really updating was for the move to sd feature. Do anyone know of any alternatives?
The point is, I just wanted root until the ota. So it will update normally via sony PC companion?
OTA Can't Verify on Rooted Device
I noticed the update this morning. Phone rebooted like it was going to work but didn't. Now it allows me to download it over and over and each time it says "could not verify". Is there any good reason to want this update? I'm rooted on the 77fw and my phone works fine as is. I do not want to update and find out I lost root. Unless there is a very good reason to, I'll just wait and see if a rooted zip becomes available.
Stickin with kitkat. I will not run without root.
