Fix for Sprint No data/LTE connection after upgrade - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After upgrading to 5.0 Lollipop my mobile data connection stopped working. I could make calls out but had an exclamation point for the data. Phone status said cellular network state disconnected and when attempting to update the project and profile I received a network error message.
From searching it looked like the issue was with my APN/access point names but I was unable to find a way to edit them. I didn't have the option under preferred network type.
My fix was to use *#*#72786#*#* to reactivate and reset everything. After that I was able to update the PRL and received a LTE connection after the profile was updated.
Hope this helps someone out.

I'm having the same issue on Sprint device running CyanogenMod. I'm really confused though – how is this fixing the issue? It seems to have reconnected me to data, but I don't know if this is long-term or short-term. Any more details you can provide as to what this does exactly?

I had the same issue here with Nexus 6 on sprint's network.

[Q] 3g issue

Hello there, i just got this phone 3 weeks ago and since i have wifi i didnt test the 3g conection before. i activated a data pack and i just realized that my 3g doesnt come on at all. the screen shows 4g left side of the signal strengh but it doesnt work at all. i got at&t version. i confirmed with my carrier and i did activate data, they even helped me to set up the apn but is still not working. can you helpe me? thanks!
PD: they said they couldnt have done more because they dont support that type of device
Does it say 4G or 4G LTE? The at&t icons are a bit different I'd you're not used to them.
4G = hspa
4G LTE = LTE
So if you're getting the 4G icon you are actually getting 3G hspa speeds.

If another carrier besides AT&T, you will need to find the APN settings for your carrier and manually enter it into Settings>Mobile network settings>Access point names. Select "New APN" and enter the correct settings for your manufacturer.
The 4G icon simply means a network is present, it doesn't mean you are connected to it.
thank you for helping people. whel actualy i wouldnt mind getting 3g network access, the point is that i dont have internet access at all. i called my carrier (Claro - El salvador) and they helped me to set up the apt but is still not working. i was wondering if there is something else i could try to fix this
nevermind, i finally fixed it
Please share the fix so the information is available for anyone who might have the same problem in the future.

sorry. well, first i did master reset, once done i set up an apn (carrier provides you with this info), then went to mobile network > network operators > select automatically. once the device found the "CLARO" network i turned data on and got internet service.
Thankyou, these threads live on long after we're finished with them so it's important to have the information readily available for future troubleshooters.

I'm guessing you either had not entered the APN info exactly correctly the first time. Or also, after entering the APN you actually have to select it as the "active" one on the list of APNs (making sure it has the colored dot next to it). Maybe it did need a factory reset, but this shouldn't be necessary just to change APN.
Happy you got it figured out.

Accidentally changed APN setting now no call/text but data connection is fine

I was out in the country trying to get my phone connected to a network as the rest of my family (same plan) had connections with their iphones. Low and behold a new setting shows up in mobile networks that I had not seen before, Access Point Names. My biggest mistake was changing settings in something I knew nothing about but I did and pressed restore factory default. Once I reached an area that had a data connection, it seemed all worked well until I tried to send a text. I soon found out I couldn't send or receive any texts/calls.
I've flashed to stock, updated prl, and nothing has worked. I tried to change apn settings using those from this site 4GLTE, but it proved futile. Now I'm stuck and more frustrated than I was before I couldn't get service.
I feel like an idiot and really could use some help! Thanks!

call your carrier and check your apn setting with them. Fastest and easiest way.

Help request: LTE Data works,"no service" otherwise. IMEI/number, but no texts/calls.

Help request: LTE Data works,"no service" otherwise. IMEI/number, but no texts/calls.
Software: Android 5.0.1 Skydragon M8 v2.0 Sense 7
Many people have posted issues with LTE where their cellular signal was fine for "2G" functions like calls and texts.
I'm having the opposite problem. After leaving airplane mode (landing at an airport today), I have a "No Service" message in the status bar drop down (notification tray), and the Settings>Network information page shows "Not Registered." However, I do have an IMEI (see details below). However, LTE data works perfectly fine.
I've obviously tried changing the settings in Settings>Mobile Data (preferred network to Global / LTE / LTE/legacy 3GPP mode) connection type global/auto/LTE/etc), to no avail. If LTE is connected it works flawlessly, but I cannot make calls or texts, and show not registered on the network. Data roaming is set to deny, but even allowing roaming does not change the situation.
Before this happened, I HAD gone through all the XTended Settings, and even 'looked' at (but did NOT change) some advanced settings pages, including the 'hidden' HTC network info page ( *#*#4636#*#* ). Again, however, I didn't change anything -- unless by accident?!
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Anyone know if I may have inadvertently changed something and can change it back (a setting that would persist in the hardware through NANDROID restores and factory resets...). Or, any other advice to restore the cellular service connection to normal?
I've tried a full NANDROID restore (multiple times) to a working copy, and a factory reset. I have limited access to a PC since I'm traveling, so re-flashing the VZW firmware or stock recovery or lollipop/verizon RUU would be challenging.
I did spend a good 45 minutes (at a library, my only PC access!) searching the forums and web, but to no avail.
Settings information:
OPperator Name: Verizon
Signal Strength -114 (I've had better but still have the same issues)
Mobile Network type: LTE
Service state: In service
IMS service state: Not Registered
Roaming: Not Roaming
Phone Identity page:
IMEI shows up (15-digit number...how can I verify I didn't mess this up?)
Phone Number is correct
IP Address: 100.66..... (looks good)
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
Same here
I'm having the same issue. When i try to make a call my LTE bars drop to nothing and it says call failed no network available. Any ideas or help would be nice. I was using venom rom as well. I'm currently trying to flash the newest RRU to see if that resets things. I'm wondering if it somehow my sim card. I took it from my droid turbo. I've made sure to turn off advanced calling on my VZW account though.

I had this same issue, running from ruu then rooted. I didn't noticed until I started seeing voice mail notifications but never heard the phone ring. When I tried to dial out I got the immediate call lost message. I couldn't figure what was causing it so I just did a reset. I made sure not to restore any systems data from prior to the Lollipop upgrade. At this point everything is working, the only thing I haven't installed yet is the xposed framework and sense 6 toolbox.

What kind of reset did you do? I know my issue is slightly different, but I did a full RUU-flash yesterday (latest lollipop version) and still no luck. Unfortunately I'm out of the country now and access to a computer is limited, and I don't even have a SIM card yet to check if cellular service would work anyway.
I do intend to do a flash of the stock recovery and radios once I have the time and access, but that may be a while...
Still, I'll keep checking this thread to see if anyone posts any other options

Just go into settings and to Backup & Reset , this will return your phone to a fresh install and remove all non bundled apps.
Before doing the reset try going into Settings then Call then change Preferred Network to Global, or toggle from LTE then back to Global.

Can't make or receive calls

All of the sudden I can't make or receive calls on my huawei m7, if I make a call it tries to dial for 10 seconds and then terminates. I get no dial tone, people calling me gets nowhere. Text messages work fine, 4G/WiFi works. I have noticed that if I turn 4G off I get no signal, so I have no 2G or 3G, I've tried factory resetting which did nothing. I've also upgraded to 5.1 and downgraded to 4.4.2, no difference. Also tries clearing the data on the Google apps as some people have suggested.
Anyone got some ideas what could help me with this problem? Would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance
hey pal just change your network mode to 2g 3g( i mean deselect 4g lte wcdma auto connect from preferred network mode. because 4g lte is meant for data use only. I f your carrier and phone doesnt support volte. u cannot make calls over lte networks.) after selecting 3g 2g auto connect just restart ur phone and then check. I have same problem with my mate7. I fixed it with the help of google. Thanks google.
Hello,
Did you find a fix for this issue? I'm having similar issue with my Mate 9.
Any advise/suggestion would be appreciated.

P905 International Version, GSM works only, not registered network issue on LTE

Hi all,
I was using my P905 international version with LTE before my EU trip.
In EU, I lost the 4G connection in roaming. When i came back to home country, i found out LTE is not working, when i attempt to make a call, i get not registered network message and lose connection.
But I have phone function and EDGE internet in GSM only mode.
IMEI number is correct, and it is same as original.
Try to solve problem, I made factory reset more than 10 times. I installed Hong Kong, Taiwan region roms Kitkat and Lollipop, even Lineage os from here. But no luck, no LTE anymore.
When i play around with *0011# and Q > 0000>UE Settings & info > setting>Protocol>
I receive 4G connection for a while then I lose it again.
I tried Auto/Manual Network Choose too, nothing works but GSM only.
I checked EFS files, everything seems correct, no corrupted file there as I understand.
Do you guys have any idea how to solve LTE connection problem?
I think i found a solution. Not sure.
I download the CP / MODEM file from following link.
https://zfirmware.com/samsung-galaxy-note-pro-12-2-p905-repair-firmware/
I made hard reset from the system. I delete user files and reinstall it.
4G and 3G came back. Now it is connecting to 4G and can make phone calls. But the connection drops after 10 mins. I need to turn off mobile connection and reconnect it. It connects for few minutes or never.
I need to restart the device and getting 4G or 3G connection for a while again.
When it connects to 4G or 3G, if it is stable connection, I can make phone call too and does not receive not registered on network error.
Should I install Stock Rom again? or try to play with some config files?
Do you have any idea?
no idea?
is there anyone has nv_data files in EFS folder? I think mine is missing.
Hi, I have the same problem.

I do not want to give up with my P905.
no help?
do you have any idea to have stable 4G? Only LTE mode is not stable. I tried. Now GSM/WCDMA/LTE mode is running but, LTE is dropping very often. I get stable connection with other Samsung Device.
as i see, there is no help. I am changing to T835 256gb LTE version.
