Hello guys,
I got messed up with my tablet
The IMEI is unknown now
Here's the chronology
1. I flashed Gnabo rom v7
2. Then the network seemed unstable, in which it got disappeared and reappeared randomly.
3. I thought I should flash boeffla kernel, then I flashed it
4. Network seemed stabilized
5. I left it over night, and in the morning the tablet lost its signal, in which it show "no SIM card inserted".
6. I restarted over and over, change the SIM card, nothing works
7. I remembered I haven't clean the kernel script before I flash the boeffla, so I think that was the cause.. Then I decided to clean the script via CWM With "sybr cleaning script" which I got from here on xda
8. Reboot the phone and voilaa! The IMEI Is unknown
9. No more "no SIM card inserted", just a blank signal on signal bar
10. I tried a way to restore the imei here on xda on thread "9 steps to repair imej", in which the methods is to backup efs folder manually, and then so on an on.
Now my tablet shows random transparent window in which shows some sort of tablet information
Here's the picture

If you have a backup with efs partition init you simply recover this. (Better all)
If not I can tell you that I needed 3 weeks to recover mine. And now I have a fake IMEI.
But it works.

I haven't backed it up yet
But I read here in the forum that the efs folder is untouched, so I assume it still intact?
Could you tell me how to recover yours?

I cant tell you what I've done the whole 3 weeks. But finally succseded with ChimeraTool.
same problem here no IME and no EFS Folder note at factory test screen
after flashing the [4.4.2] Gnabo Rom V7 [AIR COMMAND - NOTE 2014 APPS ] ROM with clean flash and it worked great for few days the note awake one day in a loop restart...I wipe all again and here started the drama... I lost the EFS folder and I am without a back up for it....I tried to downgrade the bootloader to flash a stock icescream sandwich sam rom maybe that restore the original efs but what I got a factory test screen with no EFS or IME please help and for anyone read this please consider that the above ROM could have a bug .... I am not the only one who got that problem pls backup your EFS folder and consider the risk for bricking your note.
SAM service answer/solution for repair it was to change the board (80% of the device price) = go buy a used one or a brand new from a cheap country....
appreciate any help
please Arnomaf tell us we need and appreciate your help
did you bought a license to repair IME ?
did you be able to restore your original IME with this tool ?
I have to wait to pass the 3 days trail or buy a license from day one?
it worth it..i mean it really were the only step to restore the ime and efs folder through this tool?

Hello everybody,
This is just a small guide I made for rooting ALCATEL OT-918 (Maybe also 918D or M) devices on which SuperOneClick fails. Most of the files are not by me so all credit goes to the original author...
Tutorial:
01) Unzip usb_driver.zip and install the drivers. (phone shall not be off an plugged in, thx dbask)
02) Copy the file Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip to the root of your SD card.
03) Make sure your battery is fully charged and turn off your phone.
04) Head to the directory SP_Flash_Tool_v2.1134.00 and start FlashTool.exe.
05) Make sure the menu Options->USB Mode is checked.
06) Use attached scatter file creator to make scatter. (or use Android_2.3.6_MT6573_Android_scatter_918.txt)
Warnings/Errors like this can be safely ignored:
Code:
[Warning Hint] Get BMT block count fail, default BMT block count is used!
Code:
[Hint] Bootloader files are lost when automatically loading by scatter file.
Code:
Please make sure you want to go through anyway.
Code:
DSP_BL is unchecked, which may result in a boot failure
07) Check the entry with name "RECOVERY" and double click it.
08) Select the recovery.img file and again make sure ONLY one entry is checked.
09) Click the Download button and plugin your phone with the USB cable.
* Wait some time (untill the recovery file is loaded to your phone) *
10) Unplug your phone and press the volume up and power button at once
11) Select "Flash Zip from SDCard" and choose the Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip
12) Confirm the update and reboot your phone. Everything should be done, phone is rooted!
Actual tutorial made by others. I only try to make it a bit more clear.

ALCATEL Scatter Retriever v0.1
Just to make this thread a little development related: I coded a tool that should be able to automatically create scatter files for your (ALCATEL) device. It is only tested on my own device but it should work for other (ALCATEL) devices too (Sources can be posted if needed).

Otherwise thanks alot.
ok,
file should be attached
Is there something I am missing?
Thanks for your prompt replies..
I am very grateful...It was successful in restoring but it doesn't boot...it shows the logo then goes to a blank screen.
By the way I have Alcatel OT-918(without D/M/N) running Android 2.3.6.
Is there something that I should do before of after the restore?
I have tried with wiping the cache/data/dalvik cache before restore & after .
I give it alot of time but it doesn't seem to boot.
Is it possible that you give me the data and cache files too.Please......that is if it is possible..
Thanks alot

download the One Touch Upgrade software from here: http://www.alcatelonetouch.com/ph/products/andorid_smartphones/ot-918.html to reinstall your OS
to root, use this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27178532&postcount=16
Device is upto date and exits
I did that and it says there is no other later version than the one already install on your device and it exits.
Is there anything else I can do?
Thanks
@kippsoft: Sorry, but I cannot give my data and cache... it contains private stuff such as contacts, emails, password and all stuff like that... nothing more to do I guess
@ mr.expdia: I am very very grateful
I am very gratefull for all that you have one to me.Your time spend and assistance is highly appreciated.
Thanks alot.
But said those images were for Alcatel OT-918?Please confirm that?
I thought those were images before you used your phone...it is okay.
And do you have any working custom rom for 2.3.6? Most of the available are for 2.3.5.
Though my problem is not solved...I have learn alot and that is exactly what I wanted when I joined xda.
Thanks to all.:good:
They are captured while rooting my phone, so yes. And I do not have a custom rom, I think you need to wait for one to be created.
Greetings

do you have any backup of previous roms or atlest your EFS ??
If you have flashed the rom from Philz or CWM recovery then there are high chances that the developer have used the option of "Backing up EFS" and it might be on your sd card..
Please share what have you done so far with your tab.. if you got no backup of EFS then forget about calling functions of your tab .. All i can help without the EFS backup is in restoring your tab back to its normal state..
go to sammobile.com download your ROM from there :
1) Go to sammobile
2) Register and sign in
3) Go to firmware section
4) download the P3100 rom of your location ..
5) Flash it with odin with "Phone EFS clear " option UNTICKED
You might have ticked that option and your EFS got cleared .
Efs holds the imp data like IMEI numbers .. which is illegal to fiddle with in any country..
More info here : http://rescueroot.com/android/how-to-back-up-efs-on-samsung-devices/
and here : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.boris.efsbackup
AND THIS IS THE DANGEROUS ONE:

Do this only if you are little expireinced in rooting and stuffs ..
and i hope next time onwards you will be carefull to backup your EFS

it might be just a widget .. try removing it .. if it doesnt then i think you should just try to reprogram your EFS rather than trying to remove that yellow thing..
Just follow the links i gave you.. study what efs it .. go to the last link i gave , and try doing the things that it says to create your EFS..
Note: the guide is generic for all samsung galaxy devices .. so you might have to google up a bit to keep up with the guide..

For reasons unknown after flashing a Rom your Baseband and IMEI might show 'Unknown',
flashing stock firmware will bring you back your Baseband and RIL will work perfectly
but the Baseband is now unchangeable (not to everyone but this is what happened to me).
The Baseband is associated with the modemfs folder which is on the root of your phone.
To fix this you'll need a file manager app like Root Explorer, ES File Explorer etc.
Here's the steps:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
1.Go to the root of your phone Mount R/W and open modemfs.
2.Select everything and delete.
3.Extract the modemfs.zip that you downloaded from below.
4.Select everything in the extracted folder and copy it.
5.Go to the modemfs on the root of your phone and paste everything you copied.
6.Change every folder's permissions like shown on the picture above.
7.Change the permissions of GUARDFIL and trace_auto.conf like shown on the picture above.
8.Restart your phone.
Now you're done, your Baseband should be changeable and you should be able to flash any rom you want!
The modemfs.zip I uploaded should only work with GT-I9070 not GT-I9070P.

@M0shi Thank a lot. Your trick is awesome.
I was experimenting with various android OS. Unfortunately I formatted my modemfs partition. I thought my cell phone was dead. Even, went to service center, they asked to replace the motherboard.
After 10 days of search and experiment I ended up reading your article. It worked like charm and my cell is back to life. Wish I could by a drink for you. Once again thanks a lot.
When I'm trying to delete the files located in modemfs my phone reboots. After reboot the files are still here.

A common problem many face in their phone is loss of IMEI no. This is results in no network detection by your phone. U can come to know you have lost your IMEI by checking Settings->About phone->Phone information. There under IMEI section you won't be finding your mobile IMEI numbers displayed.
Don't worry you can restore your IMEI's. Just follow my guide and you will be able to restore your IMEI. We will split the tutorial into two parts.
BACKING IMEI :
First step before performing all these things is that your phone should be rooted.
When your phone is in normal state with everything functioning install Root explorer and navigate to the below location >ROOT>DATA>NVRAM>MD>NVRAM>NVD_IMEI>MP0B_001
Now copy this MP0b_001 file to your SD card or PC whichever place you feel the file we be safer.
Now download MTK Droid tools . Now extract the zip file and open the MTK droid tools exe file.
Now in your phone turn on USB Debugging by going to Settings->About phone-> Developer options and there turn on USB debugging. Now connect your phone and MTK droid tools should be able to detect your phone. U should see a window like this appearing after your phone has been detected.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now press the ROOT button present in lower right corner. When it asks Supersu grant in your mobile click allow. After MTK droid gets access u should see a green colour box appearing in the lower left corner which means u have correctly granted access to MTK droid.
Now click on the IMEI/Nvram tab. A window should open and click backup NVRAM and MTK droid tools would take a backup of NVram in its folder.
RESTORING IMEI :
Now when you lose IMEI first try this method. Now take the MPDB_001 file which you took backup at the first step and navigate through Root explorer to this location ->ROOT->DATA->NVRAM->MD->NVRAM->NVD_IMEI. Now paste that file and replace the one present there. Now set the permissions for that file as RWER-ER-E. Now reboot your phone and you should be able to get your IMEI back.
If you still haven't got IMEI open MTK droid tools and connect your phone and press ROOT again and give MTK droid tools root access. Now click on IMEI/Nvram tab and select Restore option and restore the NVram backup which you took earlier. Now reboot your phone and you should be able to get your IMEI.
Extreme method :
After performing all the above if you haven't still got IMEI. Now switch off your phone and open SP Tools and connect your phone. Now click on format and format your whole phone. ( This wipes whole of the phone including NVram region ).
Now flash stock ROM through SP Tools and after it completes start up your phone. ( Don't be surprised. Your IMEI will still be in lost state only ). Now root your phone.
After successful rooting now connect your phone to MTK Droid tools and again press ROOT button and grant root access to MTK Droid tools. Now click on IMEI/NVram tab.
Now as you see in the image above you can see two boxes IMEI1 and IMEI 2. Now enter your device IMEI numbers manually in those two boxes.( You can get your IMEI no's from your phone box ). Now click replace IMEI. Now reboot your phone and you should be definitely able to get your IMEI restored.
Should you have any queries feel free to contact me and I will be there to help.
Will this work for SIM ME lock? Which popups every time I reboot my phone? It's annoying, it happened after I flashed CM11 ROM. Can you make it go forever?

Can you update link? It's not working
Hi,
I just unlocked bootloader of my Oneplus One 64GB Global Version and flashed TWRP Recovery, I forgot to take backup of EFS, and installed custom ROM (ColorOS) via fastboot,
Everything worked correctly but I lose network, there is no network, even if SIM card installed, WiFi never turns ON, bluetooth turns on but not discoverable, even after make it visible, nor it can find other bluetooth devices nearby,
Baseband version and IMEI number is unknown, After disaster I came to know that I must backup efs partition, On xda guys are saying that modemst1.bin and modemst2.bin are that files which I didnt backed up and they are unique to each devices, so I somebody's else backup won't be helpful
This didn't worked for me
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/fix-brickloop-audio-fx-fc-efs-corrupt-t2879061
So now, I have not network on my phone and not any backup, so are there any chance here to get it work back
I have attached some screenshots taken from this device

the guys in service center were not able to fix this, they asked me give device to them and that they will further send device to company. And it will take about 15 - 20 days, I didn't give phone to them, do not expect anything from guys on service center, they can't help you,
And please tell me too when you devices got fixed or replaced

You sure? It will be great if you could point out something. I have tried the guide from "markbencze"
I have also submitted a ticket to Oneplus in the meanwhile.

Also, shouldn't flashing to stock or any other ROM clear and rebuild all the system files?
Same Problem Here.
I did exactly like what you did. Flash color os after unlocking the device, and now i lose my imei :crying:
anyone can help? Thanks.
efs corruption is a *****.
unfortunately i am not aware of any fix for it, happens when flashing a rom on occasion. i did it to a note before and it broke my heart. only way is if you have a backup of your efs.tar file and putting it into the efs file generated in the androids home directory file.
Had the same issue.. Recovered Wifi with "fastboot erase modemst1" and "fastboot erase modemst2", but still no data. Have you solved?
There is a thread for that :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/imei-wifi-baseband-thread-t3076640
You can put your imei back.
Bro same issue... If u can help me.
