I have a g2x that has absolutely horrid battery life when using WXCDMA. When using it on the go, I sometimes loose like 1% life per minute or so, getting quite warm in the process. Also, when these monsterous drains occur, it continues killing the battery while sleep.
When on wifi, the life is great. I have already tried all of the various fixes, but I haven't run across anything that would stop the wcdma modem from sucking so much power.
I'm wondering if reflashing the baseband would work? Is that file even available? Input is greatly appreciated, cause I am envious of people that can make it a full day on a charge....

"Flashed multiple roms" isn't helpful. Which roms did you flash? Have you tried CM7 or one based on CM?
Have you monitored your battery usage to figure out which apps are eating up your battery?
Do you turn GPS/bluetooth/wifi off when not in use?
Replaced battery (seems to help people who have over heating issues)?
The most common causes of the battery drain/overheating is a rouge app and/or just a bad battery. My battery never even gets warm. I've noticed that even after long periods of gaming or internet surfing that the phone is relatively cool, so it seems you definitely have a problem there. Finding that problem is key.
Before you jump the gun, my SETTINGS>ABOUT PHONE>BATTERY USE:
Cell Standby = 58%
Phone idle = 42%
Display = 2%
I don't know why that equals 102% but just roll with it. A good battery monitor app will tell you which specific application is eating battery. I don't use those as I don't have a need to since I don't have a problem, but check those out and report back.

I have a brand new sim card.
Yes I have tried cm 7
I haven't tried a new battery simply because its not the battery that gets really hot, its the phone, specifically the area around the camera lens.
Also it doesn't do this while on wifi.

I think the processor is around the camera lens. I tried flashing a rom that would simply not boot. It would go from the LG screen to a black screen and hang. That is the only time my phone has been warm around the camera lens.
So try to figure out what is taxing your processor and stop it. What rom are you running? You still haven't provided enough details. What about a battery monitor? What apps do you have installed?

Nothing was taxing the processor. This has happened on the stock rom with no added apps. Surfing the internet is what made it warm. I used an app called watchdog to see the cpu usage and nothing even went above 40%
Hey guys, for whatever reason I cannot get past an hour to an hour and a half screen on time per charge. I used to be able to consistently get 3 but for whatever reason that no longer seems to be the case. I use CM 10.1, usually the official but sometimes mastamoon's build. Intially I thought my battery went bad but even after replacing it with a new one I've seen no real difference. I actually replaced the phone once as well but still to no avail. Any ideas?
What's eating most of your battery? Do you have Better Battery Stats it has more specific info on wakelocks.
If you have no significant wakelocks first thing I would try is a different ROM/kernel combo. TouchWiz roms generally get better battery life than AOSP.

Yeah, but it seems like people usually end up getting better battery life on AOSP ROMs than I am. I haven't checked this iteration of CM but usually it's screen on time eating most of it and wake-locks doesn't seem to be an issue. It just drains super fast, especially with even 5 minute phone calls. I'm in the middle of Cleveland so signal shouldn't be an issue. Although it is usually yellow on the graph.
I would definitely install BetterBatteryStats and see what that shows you. I only run AOSP roms and while battery life isn't great its nowhere near that bad.
I'm having the same issue. No big wake locks, my phone just dies really fast. Running latest AOKP nightly with latest KT747 kernel

So here are some pictures from my dreadful battery life. More to come. Anyone see anything? I'm not sure what deleted wake locks is.

The only thing I can get from that is your poor signal, it's simply destroying your battery. I don't see anything else that could be the problem besides a bad battery.

I also think it's mostly due to signal loss. You have an 8 hour no data connection. That entire time your phone is looking for a signal and killing your battery. I highly recommend trying to use a touchwiz rom, doesn't really matter which one. I used to use cm10 but it would drop my signal constantly. From my experience, touchwiz roms are much more stable when it comes to holding a phone signal.
There are some amazing devs who've made some cool aosp features and customizations built into touchwiz roms. Some highly customizable roms are goodness and hyperdrive. In my opinion, pair one of those with nova launcher and you'd get a very aosp like experience with the stability of touchwiz.
I also recently flashed the mb1 firmware, that's giving me slight increases in signal strength. Might just be a placebo affect, but I think it helps.

You might have to try a touchwiz Rom. My battery is at 77% after extensive use for an hour and 40 minutes.

I am having a similar issue with stock, verizon OS. There was a system update just a couple days ago through verizon, and I installed it, ever since then it's been horrible. My battery usage blames it on "Media Server" though. Not really sure if it's related, but wanted to let you know in case it might help someone trouble shoot. Also, I noticed that since the update, my 4G icon in the top is on at the same time as my Wifi icon, which previously was just one or the other depending on if I was connected to Wifi or not.

Just disable the caller id app and the 4G icon won't show up. Also I don't think you get my post as I said extensive meaning watching movies and playing games with out any screen off time all in an hour and 40 minutes the person who started this thread is on an AOSP ROM and is getting the same. The main difference is I still had 2/3 of battery life left while his battery is dying or dead. Right now I have been on this phone for 3 hours and have about 60% of battery life left. I don't have a media server problem and on a custom touchwiz ROM with a custom kernel.
Usually the ROM is not a factor, its one of two things 99% of the time,.
1. a rogue app, that won't stop looking for location or data or is just hung
2. Poor or lost signal and the phone keeps boosting power to stay attached or search for signal;

Edit: As many have pointed out by now,
It appears that you are not getting the best cell signal on your phone. From personal experience, I can tell you that bad reception takes a huge toll on battery life.
You could try switching modems/roms to see if that will solve your problem. In my experience, I have gotten better signal using a TouchWiz ROM. However, I do miss the lag-freeness of CM
So I've been noticing that my phone's battery is constantly hot, and my battery life has gone from fair, to poor, to piss poor. My battery is supposedly healthy, and a few cpu monitors have sworn that my cpu is running mostly in the minimal state. HOWEVER, System Info (app) is saying that my cpu is constantly running at 60-100% non stop. It may or may not be going into deep sleep. I have Odin'd back to stock and everything, but this problem still persists.
I was running Miui v5, then I was running Illusion rom, and now I'm on the stock, 4.0.4 rom.
Please help I don't know what's going on!!

Doesn't sound good.... If you went back to stock and the problem is still occurring then i suspect a faulty battery.
Do you have another battery to test with?
Is the phone still under warranty?
I'd test that alternate battery if you have one. Either way though I'd return it to the store where you picked it up since its likely still under warranty.

Besides the stock battery which I still use, the only after market brand that I know and trust is ZeroLemon. I have the massive 7000mAh version but they have slim ones too. Look for them on Amazon.
my phone suddenly started overheating this week. I've been using it the same way I have been since I've gotten it, but I've recently started installing kernels on it, such as ElementalX and Franco. I had been using Franco's kernels since the third day I had my phone (Nov. 14th) and I didn't have a single problem with them. Then on Sunday, my phone started getting slightly warmer. I decided to change to ElementalX and not, the phone has been overheating even more. Could it be that kernels are actually having an impact on my phone's temperature? or is it one of my apps going wild in the background? Anyways, before I installed any kernel on my Nexus 5, it would idle at around 32-38 degrees Celsius and when in use, it would never pass 40. With Franco's kernel before the overheating problem, I would be getting the same temps. When it started overheating, it would get to 34-40 and go up to 44 but never past 45 wen in use. Now, on idle, the minimum seems to be 42-47 on idle and ramps up to even 52 when I'm using it. Please help

I don't think that this is a kernel problem, I think something is wrong with the battery. I'd check with the warranty guys on this.

nope, batteries are chemical and this chemistry tends to behave very differently as time goes by, that's why I don't like devices with in-built batteries. Some iPhones last for 4 hours, some last for a day. The difference is the condition of the battery of a specific device.
Just to make sure, i'd put KitKat on it and see if anything changes, however, if it does not, I'd go and check the battery.

that should not make the battery overheat. Overheating usually means that the battery does not properly function.
post ur battery stats
There's an app called tempmonitor that will allow you to see both your battery and CPU temperature.
I've also been having overheating problems but mines would reach up to 50c on idle and when watching videos or web browser reaching up to 65c. So hot I can't even hold it. But this would happen randomly. I'd check to see if any process is causing this but that doesn't seem to be the case. And this is after flashing to stock kernel and rom.
Called Google to ask if it was normal and if there would be a software update to fix the issue. But they set me up for an rma to send the phone back for a replacement.

I've been using the temp. monitor in Trickster to check my battery/cpu temperatures and my battery is usually at around 30-32C on idle and my CPU is usually at 42-46 idle and up to 54-56 when in a YouTube video or a Netflix episode. I will be calling Google this afternoon to see what they say about this. I'm guessing I'll also get set up for an RMA.

They sent me a replacement. I currently have both and have factory reset the faulty one. Before I factory reset though, downloaded all my apps and made sure that the one they had sent me was almost an exact copy of the older one so it would be a fair comparison and I played the same YouTube Video on both and checked the cpu/battery temps. The temps on the replacement are definitely a LOT lower. The new one idles at 32-36 while the other one idled at 42-44. After the YouTube video, the replacement was at 41 and the faulty one was at 52. I'll be sending back the faulty one today
Hi guys. I have a problem regarding heat with my g930f. After updating to Nougat the phone started to heat in the area of power button. It doesn't matter what app I am using it randomly starts to heat. The device is rooted and now running Superman rom with super stock kernel. The battery is draining like hell when the heat occurs. Installed BBS and monitor what is causing the drain. In most of the cases says Android system and/or wifi. What I noticed is that I can't fully turn off the wifi. It doesn't matter what the icon shows - off or on, BBS says that the wifi is 100% of the time on. Besides the device goes to deep sleep normally and when is in that state the battery drain is very low - 2% for 8 hours. The SOT is no more than 2 hours which is very bad. Tried stock rom, superman rom there is no difference with heating. The most interesting thing to me is that the heating problem occurs randomly - scrolling browser, watching youtube, playing games, listening music - sometimes it happens sometimes not. Still didn't tried to rollback to MM but frankly I don't want to. I just like Nougat. Any suggestions or ideas what to do will be appreciated. Cheers
Wifi might be locked on due to location services. Connections->Location->Improve accuracy.
Otherwise the low SOT suggests somethings hogging the CPU. Did you factory reset when you upgraded? Have you tried seeing if this happens in Safe Mode?

The location services is set to device only. Yes, I did wiped everything couple of times before and after install. And yes did happens in Safe Mode
No one has any ideas?!
If it doesn't stop even after a full wipe and firmware flash then it might be hardware damage? The heatpipe is in the right of the device, so that could be damaged maybe? It doesn't explain the battery drain though.

I read heat can make these batteries discharge faster when it gets to a certain level, don't know any details though. Maybe it's worth checking out.
