Hi,
I'm having a problem when playing games high in graphics such as GTA San Andreas and Infinite Flight, where i get significant amounts of lag and stutter which makes these games completely unplayable.
Usually there is no problem in games with lower graphical demand, but i didn't really buy this phone to play the same standard of games which my old Moto G could have easily handled.
I have had this problem for sure on both 38R and 44S, and i believe i had the issue on 33R as well.
I've tried using both Franco and AK Kernel but there is no difference to the issue. Switching my phone into performance mode actually seems to make the problem worse.
I have also tried having the phone plugged into a power source when playing games, but again this does not change the issue. The only other thing i could try doing is using another ROM other than CyanogenMod.
I'm starting to wonder whether my phone is defective. Anyone else having this issue?

I'm running GTA 3 v1.3 on my Note and I'm noticing some stutter. Not stutter as in low framerate, but some micro-hangs when driving around. Framerate is very good, but this stutter is not normal. My Galaxy S, while running at a much lower framerate and no audio doesn't exhibit this. It's like read speeds from the internal SD aren't high enough to stream data to the RAM, and this leads to lag. Anyone else having this?
I'm running stock LA4, stock CPU,very few apps installed. Could this be ROM related? I didn't notice this in videos of GTA3 on the Note on YouTube.
Any ideas?
Galaxy S: 800x480
Galaxy Note: 1280x800
The Note has to push A LOT more pixels than the S. GTA doesn't stutter here, but i'm running custom kernel, Franco #7 on LB1 deodexed w/ few stock apps ++.
I'm not talking about framerates. Framerates are high. This is the kind of stutter like there isn't enough RAM.
The only explanation I can give is that SD-card read rates are not high enough.
Hasn't anyone else experienced this on stock ROMs?
Please, can anyone check this on their Note? I'm running LB1 with franco-7 kernel and this is still present. Framerate is even higher now (with frame limiter off, ofcourse) due to the 400 Mhz GPU clock, but it still stutters. This didn't happen on GTA 3 v1.0 when I first tried it when it came out. It could be GTA's fault and not the phone's.
It does this no matter the graphics settings. Even on lowest resolution and view distance and everything else off...
Thanks for the help.
I haven't been playing all that much, but I definitely have had some hangups too, about 0.3-0.5 seconds long.
I assume this is GTA related problems, some caching might be done in the main thread only when certain models/textures are needed, causing the lags. I played several HD games, and others seem to be better at smooth performance.
I had the same problem initially. It would pause for a split second every once in awhile.
Inadvertently because I had just got my phone and was just testing - I had to reinstall and it seemed to run perfectly. I don't know if it's a different version/update (how do you tell?) but I believe it was GTA Anniversary Edition 1.03
Yeah mines the same hangs for a split second maybe once every half hour or something. Not a major issue, its never really bothered me with it not happening very often.

you need to uncheck something from graphic setting mate. if i remember well was lowering viewing distance or something like that... it worked for me after.give it a shot.
I have a problem where it vibrates randomly... Any ideas
No one encountered this?
Yeah, vibrates randomly for me too.
I don't know about the stutter. Don't think this is the phone. It used to run nice and now, despite the good framerate it stutters like mad. Really annoying. Or maybe the borked something in the latest update (v1.3).

Try turning vibration feedback off. Its in options>audio>vibration feedback.
I made it much smoother by unselecting the Max frame rate option I believe, I also installed chainfires 3d app so that may have also contributed.

Any particular settings for Chainfire 3D?
I noticed the hdmi output is a lot faster since last update. Very smooth as it was supposed to be. Also the touch bug which affected games like jetpack joyride (drop on fps while Touching) is not happening anymore. Anyone noticed any other change?

i've noticed it to be much smoother in general as well
Considering I just got this yesterday that is some welcome news! I thought it was always this smooth!
I wonder if it fixed the issues with the snes emulator. It would skip/slow down and the sound was horrible at times, although I think this may be related to the actual application versus the windows OS. Anyone else experience the same issue with the emulator?
Hey guys,
I recently bought an HTC One S that seemingly had a custom rom already installed. I flashed it back to standard and then tried playing a game (Crossy Road) only to find it was plagued with shadow issues, flickering textures and graphical issues.
Now the phone is obviously able to run this game, my question. Is the Graphical issues caused by a dodgy rom, or a faulty GPU in the phone?
Is there an easy way to tell?
I just wanted to find out everyone experience with this game in terms of performance. I have a Snapdragon S8+ and notice that the game can stutter very noticeable at times even though most of the time it runs at 60 fps. My understanding is that it dynamically loads/streams content in which could explain the temporary dips in fps. I played the game when I originally got the S8+ and I don't recall having any stutter at that time. However, I went back to it recently and have noticed it now. I just wanted to confirm that this is a common issue with this game or if it's something specific to my device.
I'm having the exact same problems, certain parts are unplayable (where you rescue the girl and wander through the frozen palace).
Did you install via Play or from elsewhere? I picked it up as part of a humble bundle so I'm curious to see if the latest play store version is the same.

I purchased and installed it from the play store. Its version is 1.0.0 and no updates since May 05, 2016.

The same version as mine then.
It's a really good game, just virtually unplayable in parts. How far did you get?

I didn't get too far into from the first time I played it (I was still in Chapter 1). When I went back to it recently it was lagging with almost every step I took.
After playing around with a few things on my device yesterday I mentioned in order to get rid of the stutter I was seeing. I downloaded a software update HQH1 which appears to contains only the August 1st security update. I also uninstalled a few apps since I was running low on internal space. I also uninstalled Samsung Game Live since I kept getting a memory low warning message that was related to it and I wasn't using it in any event. After doing that and starting a new game, the stutter went away! I will play through the game and see how it goes but there was definitely something that appeared to be causing an issue. My suspicion is that the Samsung Game Live may have been causing an issue even though I wasn't actively using it.
Played this game on steam before. Sad ending
I was able to narrow down the issue with the constant stutter I am getting in the game. If I'm connected to a Bluetooth audio device such as my wireless headphones the stutter disappears right away. However, if the audio is playing through the S8+ speaker or even if connected to my headphones using the audio jack, the stutter returns which in turn makes the game virtually unplayable. At least now I have a work around to the issue. This reminds me another game, Badland, that has a really bad audio reverberation when connected to Bluetooth but the audio plays normally otherwise. I recall the developer for that game acknowledged that it was a bug in the audio driver they were using that it appears to have never been addressed.
Hi everyone.
Someone else experiencing problems while gaming?
I'm playing Dragon Ball Legends and sometimes the game becomes very very slow.
Tried deleting the game from Game Space, and it seemed worked at first but happened again...
I've set 120hz and 60hz manually also, and the problem persists.
Sometimes going to the home screen and back to the game works but I play online, it's annoying.
I think it's inadmissible for an expensive phone like this to have such issues. It's my first Chinese smartphone, and I'm not so happy with it
i find the GPU is set a little to passive. (slow to ramp up). Works well for battery though not so much for gaming. You can use "Game Space" an pre-installed app to make it run full power all the time. Games run great. Though phone gets hot and battery suffers.
IV been trying to use my PS4 controller via Bluetooth to play COD but it's just really bad lag and after touch movement, it's like after you stop moving or ADS it's like it keeps moving for about half a second very unplayable anyone else come across this?

Dragon Ball Legends works great on mine in any settings. I don't play online matches though. Maybe you just have poor connection?

Hi.
I fixed it turning off the battery saver option at the game settings!
That sh*t was bugging the game performance somehow, instead of helping me lol

Of course battery saving would decrease game performance. I'm glad you found the solution.

Well, I had a S7 edge and the Xperia xz2 before, always playing with the battery saver ON and had no big issues...
Yes the fps was far away from now, but I could play without any problems.
With the Oppo it's impossible to play.
My gaming experience has been less optimal lately, Fortnite is laggy even if I lower the graphics. Maybe the game is not well optimised? I'm on C57. Have you noticed anything like that?

My phone is a japanese model, here's A23 and I have no idea what the equivalent version is abroad lol
But I guess it isn't your phone problem...
