Hotspot not working - packet loss - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My nexus 5 is on 4.4.4
for an unkown reason, internet connection between my phone, and laptop connected to my phones hotspot is different..
after troubleshooting, i found out that there's major packet loss that starts with my phone itself.
i used my sim with a samsung s3 mini, and hotspot worked flawlessly with absolutely no loss...
After i contacted my carrier, they mentioned that this isn't related to them as loss starts with my phone and not their network...
i used "mtr" (my traceroute) to find this out , check attached screenshot please (sometimes loss goes up to 70 % ).
I tried the following with no luck:
Factory reset
Stopped encryption
Switched from LTE to 3g
Switched from LTE to 2G
Plugged phone to power while using hotspot
Any advice?

[Q] T-Mobile Tether, data keeps failing randomly

Hey,
I have a Nexus 5 that is set up to basically act as a router using wireless tethering. I live in an area where I constantly have full-blast LTE that is usually above 30Mbps. For about a month, everything's been great until this last week. Now, every few hours my data connection gets killed completely after anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours after tethering has been running. Data stops working on all tethered devices as well as the Nexus 5. Entering airplane mode and then resetting the WiFi tether fixes the symptoms, and if that fails, restarting fixes it.
I've disabled wireless_tether_dun (sp?), switched to IPv4 and I sometimes use a VPN that passes through all network traffic through the VPN. Even with VPN disabled, the data drop keeps happening.
I know there are so many things that can be going on, but has anyone else noticed this recently? I'm wondering if it is a hardware issue, a signal issue, or perhaps T-Mobile has changed something on their side of things that is killing my somewhat obvious abuse of their network.

I am having the exact same issue -my post- in a completely different place, only I have been assured it is completely fine to use my phone on the network in this way. Did you ever find a solution to this?

WIFI problems

Got a new S8+ yesterday.
Everything is fine except WIFI, it keeps disconnecting all the time, going on and off, until it finally stops working...
I tried removing all background signal checking and all unnecessary options, and also I did reset it to factory twice, but the problem persisted...
I have my former S7 Edge on the same network without problems...
I am having the same issue. Disconnect then reconnect every few min.
I had one disconnect this morning but it transfered to the 2G instead of the 5G.

Check your network settings; it may be switching between LTE and WiFi to "conserve energy, buy having the strongest connection." I have had that issue in the past with other devices.

Tried that already, but it is completely disabled..
In fact
Nearby Device Scanning is OFF
Wifi Calling is OFF
Location is PHONE ONLY
Smart Network Switch is OFF
Network Notification is OFF
Hotspot 2.0 is OFF
Keep WIFI on during sleep ALWAYS
and it is still happening.....
When I was first provisioning the device at home I was running it off a Ubiquiti AP Pro and kept getting disconnected. I took it off WiFi and ran the setup on 4G LTE only and connected to my WiFi after. I run Google Fiber and did some 5GHZ speedtest and was never less than 600mpbs up and down. Absolutely 0 chance the initial issue is my network at home. I haven't seen it disconnect since the initial setup but that does worry me a bit. I'd wipe the network profile and set back up.
Probably unrelated but I've found that the 5Ghz WIFI strength on my S8 5.8inch is terrible. The 2.4Ghz is fine though. Compared to my Pixel the 5Ghz is on average about 1/3 the connection speed at same range as the pixel and has much lower strength signal (testing with WIFIAnalyzer). If I cup the phone with 2 hands in landscape mode (how I normally watch videos) I often lose my WIFI connection completely from the 5Ghz network here.
Me to having same issue with WiFi disconnect automatically getting irritated from that
How to fix this guys
Had the same problem on mine. Setting the IP address to a Static IP fixed the issue.
Try going to settings, backup and reset, reset network settings. See if that works.

LG G3 D850 (AT&T) Data Connection Issue

Hello,
I have bought LG G3 D850 8 months ago.
It is a rooted mobile with FULMICS 5.1 rom installed. There was a problem with mobile battery timing.
for this issue i installed XPOSED Framework and after it everything work perfect.
I use wifi mostly and i did not try even once to use data connection.
Now after 7 months here is a problem with mobile network.
everything was working perfect now after 7 month when i enable wifi connection then sometime mobile signal drop and then search for network and after 1 or 2 second network back to normal mode but wifi keep working perfect.
NOW, The main issue is my Data Connection, when i enable data connection then sometime it work perfect and mostly as usual it drops signals randomly and search for network and continually repeat same issue unlimited time a day.:crying:
i have tried different apps even i make changes to Build.prop but no born fruit.
BUT WHEN I DELETED MY APN SETTINGS AND THEN I ENABLE MY DATA CONNECTION SO NO ISSUE OF SIGNAL DROPING. BUT WHEN I SET UP APN SETTING THE ISSUE IS SAME AGAIN.
The issue is same and still persist.
ANYONE CAN HELP ME ABOUT THIS ISSUE.
ABOUT SIGNAL DROPPING WHEN I TURN ON DATA CONNECTION.
HELP ME PLEASE.

Data Connection Drops on Moto G XT1045 (T-Mobile US)

I was curious if anyone else experienced or has familiarity with this issue. I've been dealing with this since I got the phone almost a year ago. Sometimes when my phone has been idling and I return to check something, the data connection will be unusable. The 3G icon will be visible but internet unavailable (4G works fine, but I prefer to have my phone set to 3G only). It's possible to wait 30-60 seconds for the connection to reset itself, or under settings, switching "Cellular data" or Airplane mode also restores it. Aside from that, the connection is mostly reliable & I don't have any usability issues once data has restored.
I've always ran CM & LOS on this phone so I haven't tried using a stock ROM (solution suggested in an older thread... Mobile data cutting out). I've also flashed the latest Lollipop Radio Firmware (fsg & modem). Thanks for any help.
Edit: I think this may have had something to do with visual voicemail being enabled. I've since switched to AT&T where VVM hasn't worked at all (they suggest using their app) and the problem has gone away.

WiFi & LTE Connection Issues

Hello all!
My wife is running a T-Mobile Note 10+ and having major issues with the WiFi and mobile cell service. She constantly runs into her apps like Netflix and Plex saying she has no connection. She's complained of the WiFi being bad and having to disconnect from it, and then she can use LTE to watch shows, and then sometimes LTE stops working and connecting to WiFi fixes it.
Here's the thing. I finally was able to see it when it was having a fit on the WiFi. Going into the connection settings showed it was connected to our 5GHz WiFi at 7Mbps connection speed. Nothing was loading. This was on a 1300Mbps link. I disconnected from the WiFi and reconnected to it, without moving the phone's location, and voila! It reconnected at 300 something Mbps and everything started working. I believe it may be doing the same with LTE as it cuts out randomly and constantly. I saw it myself while we were driving somewhere and she couldn't load websites. My phone (OnePlus 7 Pro) is on T-Mobile as well and I have NEVER run into these issues. We are on the same provider / plan.
Her phone is fully updated and isn't rooted. I haven't touched it as a tech nerd so it's running as a total consumer as far as settings go (haven't played with APN or wireless radio or anything).
Has anyone else experienced these issues? Does anyone have any ideas to fix this?
Did you try a different wlan access point? Actually i am on the Note 10 with Exynos. Wlan and LTE are working nice for me.
Perhaps your problem is meanwhile solved through an update.
I have the same problem, mainly in LTe but sometimes also in Wifi
ANyone found a workaround ?
i've been having this issue constantly since the march security update. Didn't notice it before but it'll disconnect from my wifi, still recognise it but wont reconnect unless i restart my phone
Same here. Brazil SM-N975F.
