[Q] [Help] Nexus 5 WiFi Stuck on "Turning On..." - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This problem started when i was using cyanogenmod 11 and flashed elemental x. I didn't like elemental x as it made my phone hot and drained battery, i then restored my phone to stock ROM with my nandroid backup with twrp. After 5 minutes of usage it rebooted when i dialled a phone number after that my wifi would not turn on. I have tried everything to fix this issue. The Things i have tried:
1) Flashing a custom ROM and kernel
2) Flashing the Factory Image
3) Flashing paranoid ROM
4) Factory resetting
5) Deleting the WiFi file from data/misc/WiFi
6) Shaking my phone violently
7) Tapping my phone hard at the back

How did you go about flashing the factory image?
Flashing stock properly should eliminate any software issues. So if it's flashed successfully, that usually leaves hardware as the issue.

Have you tried turning it off and on?
I know it sounds stupid but sometimes it just needs to breathe.
Have you cleared the caches?

Infuse stuck in boot logo loop

My infuse is rooted with zues. A few weeks ago, it was stuck on the samsung boot logo and it keeps looping. I wiped data and cache and installed zues again and it was fixed. Last night, this happened... so my phone turns on for 2 minutes max, then turns off and starts the loop. I can only keep on for 2 minutes before it starts looping again. by saying keeping it on for 2 minutes, i mean everything works! talk, text, games, ect...
so i turned it off, went to clockwork or root menu, whatever you guys call it, and i wiped data and cache. Whats weird is that even on boot menu or clockwork, it still wont stay on, it keeps turning off and turns on and loops!
i installed zues again, still turns off and loops
next step? is my phone dead?
Did you have any undervolt settings applied?
The phone is not underclocked, it is not overclocked. It was rooted, I unrooted it. its currently unrooted absolutely factory stock and still doing that. What can I do to fix this?
warranty is over as of 3 months ago
Forgot to mention the most important thing!!!
When I am on the phone with someone, it works perfectly forever, as soon as i hang up, it ends the call. this key thing might help someone find the solution!!

Don't panic just yet... I doubt your phone is dead.
You say you've "wiped data and cache". Are you also making sure to wipe /system and Dalvik Cache?
Try flashing Zeus again.
Boot to CWM, Wipe EVERYTHING (/data, /cache, /system, Dalvik Cache). (Alternatively, get "Clean Wipe" from Qkster's Scripts and flash with CWM to easily wipe everything.)
Flash Zeus and go.
If you're still having problems, perhaps try a different rom?
okay, I read everything you guys wrote.. This is where I am, I am open to suggestions
I am on the stock rom and unrooted. Phone still boot loops. What should I do now? Step by step instructions would be great. Im unrooted, so should i root again? even though im having this problem?
bump! really need help with this guys!
Have you tried going back to stock?
If it keeps looping while on download mode then I would say you are dealing with a hardware issue.

It just came to me that it doesn't loop in download mode. It does loop in clockwork, I flashed the stock kernel using ODIN and went completely stock through ODIN.
How do i fix this? i'm pissed that i had it for a year and three months and right after the warranty ended, the phone stopped working! Samsung never again unless this issue is fixed
I'm a newbie to flashing, so take it with a grain of salt. At least two more things seem worth trying to me:
1 - Try factory data reset (assuming you already tried the wipe Davlick and wipe cache). I'm not positive what this does, but I think you may lose some of your data if it's not backed up.
2 - If that doesn't work, try qkster's Heimdall UCLB3 stock (since you can get into download mode...shouldn't be a problem). This is complete back to stock so should be able to clear any software problem I'd think. I know you may think it's redundant since you are already back to stock, but worth trying imo since some things just take more than one try, and you may have had a bad flash the first time around.
Why zeus? try latest ones with jelly bean
Hey,
Try other roms based out of jelly bean. They are pretty stable. CM10 with 09/14 build is the latest
Here are the standard steps if you have CWM enabled.
1. Factory re-set (only when switching between different roms).
2. Cache partition wipe
3. Dalvik Cache wipe
4. Install the zip file
5. Re-start and wait until it re-starts. Initially it will take some time.
I have tried various roms and versions as well. Best would be the CM10 Jelly bean.
Thanks Kran.

[Q] Factory Reset Did Not Wipe Anyhing

I'm trying to remove apps that's on this phone (GT-S7500) because some of the apps always force close and not working. Firstly, I tried uninstall the apps one by one, all went good until I rebooted the device, all of the apps are back again. Second, went to privacy>erase everything including SD card content, device rebooted and went straight to recovery. It was weird because normally it will reboot itself straight to home screen. So I select the option factory reset/wipe data, after that wipe cache partition and reboot. Device does not reboot but turned off completely (weird again) Turned it back on, and only saw that none of the apps were removed. Even the wallpaper are still the same. Next thing I do is manually boot into recovery menu and factory reset again, still the same thing, (device turned off without rebooting itself, turned it back on and everything was still the same) after few tries again, I finally decided to flash a stock rom with ODIN. Flashing was successful ODIN shows PASS, waiting device reboot but it shut off completely again. turned it back on, but nothing changes. wallpaper are still the same and every single downloaded apps were still there. Went to settings> about device only to found that it wasn't the same rom that I've flashed earlier using ODIN.(flashed 2-3 times again, results still the same) Very confused right now, suspected that the internal SD card was corrupted/damaged. Does anyone experiencing such thing on your galaxy ace plus? searched on xda forums and found that this issue was also happening on few other devices. This is not my phone, just helping a customer. Thank You.
After flashing stock rom
Go to recovery (stock of course)
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Reboot

Any problem with WiFi is a kernel related issue...the WiFi files are in the kernel...so I would flash back to stock cause it seems like a file got screwed up somewhere

Hey all,
After more than a week with NO WIFI, i have finally figured it out.
Here are the detailed.
ISSUE: After OTA update of 4.4.3 on new nexus 5, the phone was rebooted automatically and after reboot WIFI button was greyed out. It only showed "TURNING ON".
FAILED SOLUTION ATTEMPTS: Following step DID NOT HELP
1. Factory reset
2. Battery drain and recharge after full drain
3. Power off for few hours and restart
4. Whacking the set on palm (yes, whacking, it was a recommended solution on a thread)
5. Opened the handset and checked all the hardware link, every thing was fine
6. Bootloader unlock, recovery installation (TWRP), downgrade to 4.4.2 (downloaded from google's web page)
7. Downgrade to 4.4
8. OTA update from down graded firmware
9. Sideloading the 4.4.3 update on firmware 4.4.2
10. Rooting, and installation of custom ROM (slimKat, Cynaogen mod)
11. Installation of custom kernel (linaro)
12. Flashing of 4.4.2 & 4.4 Radio/Boot images on stock rom of 4.4.3
13. Clean install of 4.4.3 (removing everything from phone except recovery)
14. *#*#4636#*#*, goto wifi and restart.
15. *#*#4636#*#*, wifi state shown "UN-INITIALIZED"
Actual Solution that worked
***** Install Paranoid Android ROM on rooted Nexus 5. The issue is with Kernel , which control the HW/OS communication. Apparently Kernel of this ROM removed the issue (but installation of SlimKat/CyanogenMod/Custom Kernel).
I then restored the backup of stock 4.4.3 from recovery and did a factory reset. Wifi & every thing else works fine now *****

I've had this issue since yesterday on stock 4.4.4. A search of the Google support forums or Twitter will show posts from people having the same issue, all from the last few days. I've done a wipe and flashed the factory image and neither fixed it.

[Q] Memory leak or something else?

So this issue has persisted throughout wiping data/factory resetting. I'm really not sure what this is.
Basically what happens is that my phone will gradually get slower and slower until it freezes and then reboots. However, after it reboots, it will go into a boot loop. What I will then need to do is basically wait it out by shutting it off. Then, I wait for an hour (maybe more) before I try turning it back on again, at which point it returns to normal.
Any idea? I thought it might be a memory leak? But how would that affect rebooting? I'd like to also mention that at one point my recovery somehow disappeared as well. I managed to re-flash TWRP using Flashify, but I haven't dared going back into the recovery, because last time when I had lost my recovery, I ended up thinking that I had to wipe my phone completely (because even Download Mode wasn't working correctly).
By the way, I'm running an AT&T LG G2 d800, on the "d80010q" firmware 4.2.2. I'm rooted, with Xposed modules running, as well as the camera mod flashed. No other modifications have been made except for buildprop and systctl (kernel) changes through android tuner.

Stuck in the bootloop :(

I noticed One+ was a bit slow so I decided first to switch from power save to balanced and it was still going slow so I decided to do a reboot. After the reboot the phone got stuck at the boot animation. I can get into recovery tried a factory reset didnt help. Im wondering if i try flashing the OS if that would work. Plus what would be the best way to do so.
What ROM, Kernel are you using?
Switching from Power Save to Balanced shouldn't cause your phone to be stuck in a boot loop. Something else caused it.
Everything is stock, it was really weird I was considering maybe using adb to flash a stock img (although i have little experience doing that). I tried rebooting again to potentially start this process (this is after a good 5 or 6 reboots and a factory reset) and it started up to the welcome screen. Another side issue it seems like the factory resets for this device only wipe the apps + user data. I know if I was rooted i wouldnt expect the media to be wiped but its stock with the stock rom. I bought it off ebay and when i went to load my stuff i did a factory reset and noticed the previous owners data including call/text logs and contacts were all on the device

If you were to flash a stock image, it would be done in fastboot mode and not adb mode. So is your phone booting yet?
You can always adb sideload a custom ROM and flash that to get your phone to a bootable state again.
The phone booted up after a good 3 hours a factory reset and multiple reboots
