[Q] Display resolution - 1920x1200 - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In the introduction of the Sheild tablet on the page where all the specs are mentioned, it says 1900x1080p. but the correct display is 1900x1200. Am i right?

Yes. It is 1920 by 1200.

1920x1200 is the 16:10 version of 1080p. In marketing terms, this tablet is 1080p Full HD because the average consumer doesn't really know about 16:10 and 1080p is pretty universal. Rest assured that the Shield tablet is 1920x1200.

Vote: 9.7 4:3 or 10.1 16:9 Screen? What you like more and why?

Hello,
As we all know there is today two main players in ZPAD series:
ZPAD T2 (Gtab, 10.1" Screen)
ZPAD T8 ( Same specs as Gtab with 9.7" IPS Screen)
I am wondering what most people like 9.7" 4:3 format? or 10.1" 16:9 Format Screen?
thanks for all repliers!
PS: From my research, Cheapest rates for this devices found on HOTMID.COM
They'r also selling the new revision of Zpad T2/Gtab with the better screen (Improved viewing angle) compares the original T2/Gtabs.
Love the wide screen format for both movies and apps.

Budget droids you would like to have here in the Philippines
Hello Everyone,
Which droids would you like to have available in the Philippines? and which ones that are available would you want to buy?
I'm more or less a patron for Cherry Mobile/ Karbonn units. Maybe because I have not really tried anything else yet.
Cheers!

Im actually curios about the new phones that are comming out as well as the brands... Cloudfone has been around as long as both Cherry Mobile and My Phone (more or less). i think their hardware is pretty good also. Pero si My Phone has not yet release a quadcore import. It would be very interesting to see what they come up with soon. The can't afford to wait too long since lumabas na ang Flame 2.0 with a Qualcomm quadcore.

It would really be awesome if we could finally get the chance to pit these two quadcore phones against each other in a head to head performance battle.
One other thing to compare between the two are their displays. Since the MP919i has a larger display but has the same resolution as the CMFLame2.0 its pixel density will be lower. As a benchmark, the human eye is said to be able to distinguish a maximum of 300-350 PPI (pixels per square inch of the display) and Newsprint is at 120-150 PPI only. for those who are fans of Bulgar. The Flame 2.0 has a density of around 250 PPI (this is rounded off). Meaning that for the display size of the Flame(4.5in Diagonal) coupled with its max resolution(540x960 pixels) it gives you decent enough pixel density for most hardcore smartphone uses such as gaming and mobile imaging.

the canvas hd has a resolution of 1280x720 with a 5 inch display giving it a density of 293.72ppi vs the flame 2 with 960x540 at 5 inches giving it a density of 244.77ppi
and the ability to see pixels depends also on the distance from the screen... retina displays are a good example... the iphone's retina display has 326ppi vs the macbook's retina display at only 227ppi
"Steve Jobs said the magic number for a retina display is about 300 PPI for a device held 10 to 12 inches from the eye. One way of expressing this as a unit is Pixels Per Degree (PPD) which takes into account both the screen resolution and the distance from which the device is viewed."

Fake IPS screens on ASUS devices?

I recently bought an ASUS zenfone 5 because I needed a dual SIM smartphone without spending too much money, but still getting a good device.
The zenfone has good specs, 5 inch 720p IPS screen, Intel dual core processor that performs pretty similar to some quad core ARM processors, 2gb RAM, 16gb storage and runs Android 4.4 and ASUS also promised to update it to Android 5.0 Lollipop. It is definitely not a high end smartphone, but it does the job.
I was happy with it, but the screen quality really disappointed me. Since ASUS says it has an IPS screen I guessed it would have good viewing angles and color accuracy like I see in many devices, even cheap ones like Moto G, but it was not the case. I usually show a lot of photos and videos to many people and some of them cannot see it clearly if they look from a different angle.
It should not happen with an IPS display, actually it behaves like a cheap LCD display found in those really simple smartphones. I made a video to demonstrate what happens. It is in Portuguese but I think you can get the point by just watching it.
So, what happened? Are they using cheaper screens, fake IPS displays? Is there a simpler IPS model that behaves like that?

[Q] 1080p video on 1280x800 (quad core) tablets ?

So i need a new 10 inch tablet and i'd like not to strugle to play 1080p (that means 1920p width) video.
My old tablet (acer a500) had a 2-core cpu at 1Ghz and was not even able to play 720p that well. So assuming the new one will be quad core would it be able to decode 1080p video or not ?
And if yes will it be on HW or SW mode ? (MX player)
Or should i buy a 1920x1200 tablet just to be sure ??
Well...
You need a full HD tablet to play full HD videos which means the screen resoultin must be higher or equal to 1920x1080.
1280x800 is NOT full HD/1080p

What can I do in order to play 1080p or higher on my phone?

When I try to play videos with 1080p resolution or higher my phone says that it can't play the video. I have a Blu Studio 5.5 with android 4.2.1, 5.5 inches 480x854 screen, Mtk Mt6589 quad-core 1.2ghz and PowerVR SGX544. Thanks for the answers!
Trying to do so would be completely pointless. Like streaming 4K Netflix on your 1980 Zenith.
I'd like to do so in order to play my gopro videos on my cellphone
