Google Search has Stopped. - AT&T LG G2

Hello all. Man, it's been a while. Well, on to business.
I just downloaded the most recent update about... A month ago or so I think?
The past 2 weeks, however, my Google search has stopped working. If I access the app or click the search bar on my home screen, it pops up for a second, then crashes and gives me the option to report. Also crashes when I try to use voice in Chrome.
So far I have:
1. Cleared cache, data, etc.
2. Uninstalled updates. It didn't work before re-updating it, and I have now done this 4 times.
3. Reinstalled updates to no success.
4. Attempted to backup my phone with the stock backup, only to have it fail, thus blocking a factory reset (don't want to lose my data). This is ALSO an issue I am having, so advice here would also be appreciated, though not necessary. I think my broken GoogleSearch messed it up anyway.
Has anyone found a solution to this? Is anyone else having this issue? Or has my famously bad luck rendered me the only one again?
I am running a bone stock D800, unrooted. Please no hate for my lack of root; every time I root I seem to break something (bad luck, not inexperience!), and I tried to keep from it this time.
If you have just a patch or workaround that's perfect. My goal is to keep my G2 functioning until April 2015, then I can get a new phone. Any help appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Bump. It's getting worse. It used to only do it when I opened the app. Now it does it at random about every twenty minutes.

Bump.
Voice recognition is completely gone everywhere now.

Bump. Finally factory reset since apparently nobody across several different forums knows what's causing this. Guess what? Still broken!
Could really use any help at all. This is driving me insane.

Never mind! Apparently the update decided to go ahead and brick my phone today. Won't even boot to the LG logo. Had to buy a G3. Fantastic.
Would appreciate it if you closed this thread, mods.

Cannot download from market

I'm not able to download anything from the market. I just get a message saying download unsuccessful. I've been having this for a few hours now but thought it might be a problem with the market but haven't seen anything else about it. I've cleared the cache and data for market and for Google apps and to no success. Has anyone had this before and know how to fix it?

Mine was quite dodgy yesterday but sorted itself out late last night. Never tried today, but I'm inclined to think the market seems to have issues at the moment.
Getting the same problem here..... I've managed to get the things I needed by retrying a lot of times tho..... Took about 14 retries just for the IMDB app

[Q] "Device not compatible" error in Play Store

So either I don't know how to use the internet or I'm the only person with this problem (on an evo shift, of course).
Tried everything I found on every site (even on different phones).
"Device not compatible with this version" error on most apps. The apps don't even show up in the play store when I search them, I have to find a link to the store online, then I get the error.
Info:
Evo Shift
CM7.2 RC2
I'm looking for a solution before I end up wiping it in frustration.
Suggestions?
Thanks.
What version of the Play Store do you have? Have you tried installing a different verson of the Play Store. Had something similar happen with a themed version.
Try flashing the latest google apps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311342
Play store version 3.5.19
But that was just after I tried flashing that new gapps, still nothing.
Can't find a different version of just the play store...care to throw me a link?
yeah i had this issue before on my bionic not sure why it does this but try flashing again wipe etc.. and see if it is the same issue or try uninstalling updates on applicatoins "play store" etc... sometimes that fixes the problem..
Well, wiping it and re-flashing CM is gonna be my last resort.
Ill try it tomorrow if all else fails.
Tried downgrading, and now the apps (like facebook, instagram) show up in the market, but they're still "not compatible".

Settings -> Manage applications -> Play store -> Clear data
Try to releaunch Play store.
Tried that, cleared data, cleared every cache possible, tried several different gapps .zips, my phones getting sick of it so my journey is nearing its close.
I'm thinking its something to do with the play store reading my device as something its not, but in the settings everything checks out. (htc_speedy, etc.)

Are you using any kind of market unlock software that would spoof your device from a different provider?

The android market was renamed / rebranded as the play store a while back

Is your LCD density stock? Changing lcd density often causes play store issues. If it is you can try using the market enabler app to get access to the market. If that doesn't help try editing your build prop to spoof your phone as a nexus s as that is probably the compatible with the most apps.

Yeah when I first started having this problem I saw the lcd density solution on an Evo Design forum, and I had just recently set my density to 210, so I figured that was it. Changed it back, NADA.
But I changed my info to that of a nexus S and everything is working now. Thank you!!

No problem! I ran into that when I was running newSense a while back (bad flash I believe) and didn't feel like redownloading and reflashing the rom so edited the buildprop
when you changed density back, did you reboot/ clear cache and dalvik then clear market data? If not, then that probably still could have been the issue.

Oh yeah I cleared every cache I could possibly clear before I did that. I tried everything. Never even knew you could change that type of info, but I did it with ROM Toolbox Pro.
Quick question, although it belongs in another section, how do you like newSense? I'm looking for something new after having CM for over a year.

Its probably the best rom on the shift. The best combination of speed and and stability. Although its probably not as fast as a pure aosp build, the difference is negligible. Drob, onelove and dread deserve major props. Its my go to rom when I'm on my college campus... as its the only place in detroit with 4G lol

Getting the Google Local search back?

Just got my phone today, and apparently the sticker on it that said updated meant that there is no local search due to... Lawsuits? Whatever.
I hate apple now.
Anyhow I've Googled it and can't find how to get this back.
Just articles talking about how it was removed.
Is there a way? Do I flash gapps from cwm recovery?

Does that apply to all phones they make now? I thought it was just the Nexus for a particular period. Now that you mention it though I just got mine today, same sticker and same results. This phone is so loaded and my first Android cell so I feel sorta lost and could be missing a setting.

I am not certain, but from the out of the box get go I was not able to bring any local apps up.
Not even settings, which was just asinine considering I am unfamiliar with touchwiz, and with ICS coming from GB... so I needed to find the settings and did not want to page through the apps.
None of that works, you can only search google on the internet, nothing else.
Same here, but I was wondering if it's a limitation of TouchWiz this is a crazy heavy skin. I'm coming from iPhone so I'm happily lost, I could have missed the setting.
Maybe someone can help me out, I'm running no sympathy VRALG1 however I pulled the googlequicksearchbox.apk(1.4.1.338691) from the nosymapthy VRALF2 , I can install it and my local search works great, until I reboot and then it doesn't work and the installed version of googlequicksearchbox.apk is back to version 1.4.1.396604. How do I stop it from upgrading or changing?

Yeah I figured it out myself, I just completely deleted it off my phone from titanium and then reinstalled the old version rebooted several times and it's still working.

Unknown error code during application install: -24

Hello everyone,
I always follow this rule when I buy a new device. I use the stock rom/kernel without root for the first 2-3 weeks just so that there's no hardware error popping up and also because I want to have that clean stock experience with each device I own. After I feel the time is right, I root it and then keep on flashing every now and then. So ATM, I'm fully stock!
I've been experiencing this particular problem/error while installing apps from the Play Store : Unknown error code during application install: -24
I have faced this error 3 times till now and sadly all of them have popped up while installing "PAID" apps.
Till now it has occurred with
1. Nova Launcher Prime
2. WiFi File Transfer Pro
3. Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour
SS: http://www.vinu.info/f/u/24Screenshot_2014-03-06-20-30-47.png
I couldn't even get a refund on the first two apps as the 15 minutes window had passed while I was searching for a fix. I like to support the devs but this is really irritating!
I've literally searched for hours finding a solution for this and the only thing which I get is : FACTORY RESET.
If you're rooted, then you can delete the package from /data/app/ or /data/data/ and solve it within few seconds. However, if you're unrooted, you're only left with Factory Reset.
I am currently on ART and I have tried shifting to dalvic but that doesn't solve the problem. I was using a HTC One X (4.2.2) previously and I have never faced this problem even once. So I'm beginning to think it's a KitKat related issue?
I have already performed a factory reset twice and I really don't find it a viable option now. I guess it's time to root now and begin flashing!? :cyclops:
If you guys have any info/solution regarding this problem, please share!
Thank you for your time!
It happens randomly. Have you tried deleting your Google account and adding it back? Fixes it for me every time this happens (and it's not a KitKat related issue)

Thanks for the suggestion. However, it didn't solve the issue.
I know it happens randomly and I may have been extremely unlucky to face this issue 3 times in a month!
PS: There are tons of people who don't root their phones, so each time something like this happens we have to wipe it completely?
It seems to me doing a wipe is your only option :/

I'll wait for a few days and see whether I can find any alternative, if not, flash a custom rom... Fedup with stock(unrooted) because of this stupid issue.

Chrome shows Wiki app is installed

Hi,
Since some update ago, not sure which one, my chrome browser shows that I have Wikipedia app installed when I don't actually have it. I don't know where to even begin to troubleshoot this issue other than add and remove the wiki app.
Attached are some snapshots of the issue.
Your help is really appreciated it, thank you.

Exact same problem on my Nexus 4. I even did a factory reset and the association came back!
Anyone out there with new information?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Before updating to the newest chrome, clearing data in privacy fixed it; but that's not the case anymore. I DID find out that it seems to be linked to my google account. Logged out of chrome, the association went away. Logged back in, repeat the same search, and it's back.
