Cannot download from market - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I'm not able to download anything from the market. I just get a message saying download unsuccessful. I've been having this for a few hours now but thought it might be a problem with the market but haven't seen anything else about it. I've cleared the cache and data for market and for Google apps and to no success. Has anyone had this before and know how to fix it?

Mine was quite dodgy yesterday but sorted itself out late last night. Never tried today, but I'm inclined to think the market seems to have issues at the moment.

Getting the same problem here..... I've managed to get the things I needed by retrying a lot of times tho..... Took about 14 retries just for the IMDB app

I had the same problem but now sorted. Type in google the problem and you will get an answer. I think you have to clear google talk or google mail storage in applications, then manage applications all in settings. Hope this helps.

It's rooted with 023, using instructing from this site.
I have the same problem can't download in market after i used titanium app to uninstall some google stuff from my phone. Rooted last night btw thanks everyone for their help.
You have to reinstall gtalkservice.apk and Talk.apk. Follow this thread for instruction
=> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=716888
Really, but how does gtalk & talk relate to marketplace downloading/networking issues? Just wondering.

All of the Google related software is integrated into your account which in turn is how you purchase/use the market.
As for your issue, have you made sure your APN settings are correct since rooting your device? Make sure you've done that. As well, check the original root thread for a market fix in case that's your issue as well.
Edit: I just saw you're using Rogers. Make sure you use the x10a fix for the market. Also note that when I applied the fix, it took over 24 hours and clearing the cache several times before it started working properly. I really strongly recommend you check your APN as well though. Rooting/debranding the x10a from the Rogers network clears out the APN settings and most have had to put them in manually.

I faced it once long back .. but after that I rooted my phone for almost 3 or 4 times changing the firmwares and then the problem just disappeared.
Yea, APN setting entered correctly. I might just remove them and enter them again through. Thx for all the suggestions folks.

I since narrowed it down to my wifi connection, because it never seems to happen while on 3G. Could be something to do with my router settings. I'll try a static IP again, but I don't think that will help much.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I know that you said that you cleared the cache, but did you "clear data" as well? I think this is what I did last time mine acted up.
same issue here, I never use the market to look for an app updates anymore instead I tried to use App Update Notifier and it works just fine.

Clear data then restart the phone. This has fixed every market issue I've had yet.

Used the SGS tool script to reset the market and now its working fine again. Thanks for the suggestions everyone
this happens to me all the time... idk why
Have you tried downloading a small free app from the market? You can uninstall it right after, to see if it works. Whenever I flash a new ROM and restore apps with TiBu, the market doesn't see my restored apps. But, when I download a new app, the market then recognizes my restored ones. It's worth a shot and will only take a minute.
Edit: Sorry, didn't see you found out already, you're way is probably better too. >.<

Hm. I'm on overcome 3.0 as well. I can't find it anywhere, but there's a way to clear the Market cache which solves some problems.

Well ive deleted the data but it shows that i have no cache. So anything else to try?
Works great but i think a bit buggy, some of my apps are up to date but it keep asking me to update, but when i am at the apps description there are only open and uninstall option
Well i have some bad news for the overcome peoples. If you head over to the overcome thread you will see a new post. I guess the issue is with the base kernal or something that isnt creating the cache right. The good news is they have a fix for it, but the bad news is you will have to wipe everything and start from scratch. Also if your having problems with the old market, this will fix it as well. Head on over to the overcome thread for better explanation and fix.
edit: I just tryed the fix and it worked! Good news if you dont want to go through the hastle of re-stocking then the new version of overcome will fix it. It will be out soon!
ps: sorry if i made it look like i hijacked this thread. I just wanted people with this problem to know. Im done with this topic
Little bit laggy but works fine on overcome

Same issue with go launcher ex.....
It's an issue everyone with the new market is experiencing. If you just wait a while and check back later it will probably let you update. Or just set the apps to auto update. Or update them using the web market.
I haven't had an issue. As a matter of fact, it updated 22 apps via the auto update feature last night (incl GO Launcher).
OK thanks gtg/ guys

You are right, the problems with the new Market seems to fix itself a few hours or less after you upgrade the market.....
I had the same issues with it myself, was about to restore the previous version of the market when I noticed that all is well with the new market.

Is it telling you there isn't enough space for Cordy?
I don't know what Gordy is, but I get no errors about disk space or anything else.,
I have been able to normally update apps for the past 2.5 days and I have updated a lot of apps cause I have over 134 apps installed.

Problem installing apps larger than 30 mb

So if you have tried to install Wind up Knight you already know it won't install on your GS4G, I asked the developer why and he replied:
"Hi Jorge,
Do you have an HTC Desire or a Samsung Galaxy S? If so, your phone is broken and you should complain to your carrier about selling you a defective product. Those devices are unable to download any application that is larger than about 30 mb. There's nothing we can do about it from this end--it's a problem created by Samsung and HTC.
Good luck,
Chris"
So my question here is, does any one have a fix?
I believe you go to manage applications market and clear the cache and data

Ha.. Defective... psh. So what are you supposed to do, return it for the same "Defective Phone"?
Big question, are you using Data or Wifi to download?
Have you tried the app download all files? I think I read somewhere that it would allow you to download larger apps.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I have tried both data and wifi, so there's no way to bypass this? I have never seen an app in the market that takes more than 15 MB but this one is almost 50 MB.
Download app to computer copy to sdcard and install using something like root explorer

EDIT: Oh well, I thought you could download the app to your computer fromt the android market... guess not.
Anyone have any other ideas?
I am having the same exact problem. I am trying to download a 31 mb file. It will not download. 20 mb files are fine. WTH?
I have tried all the app cache and data refreshes mentioned.
This is lame.
But, the suggestion to download to PC and load onto sd card is a great suggestion. Thanks for that. I hadn't thought of that.

I think raver posted a fix for this for froyo.
Those big files are usually games and if you search you can often find the apk available for download somewhere other than the market. I did that with this sword fighting game but the game turned out not to be worth much.
It could be the new market...
I had this issue a while back on my vibrant and now again with Wind Up knight on my GS4G
I believe its the new market causing the issue.
When I uninstalled the updates of Market 3.1.5 and rolled back to 2.12 on my GS4G, Wind up knights Downloaded and installed no problem. My GS4G is rooted with Stock ROM.
My Vibrant is on Cyanogen Mod 7 with Market 3.1.5, unfortunately version 2.12 is not on the ROM so I can not roll back and install this Game.
I don't think its entirely a device issue. There must be something about the hardware that the Market Software just doesn't agree with.
Any other ideas?
I saw that on SGS I9000, custom ROMs fixed it by changing the download temp file size. Maybe we van do the same on SGS 4G...
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
I have the same problem using the Android Market, but if it's a problem with the phone, why can I DL Peggle which is 74.1MB using the Amazon Market app? I've had no problems at all DL'ing huge files using Amazons Android Market. It wasn't until I heard about a game that was only on the Android Market that I ran it this problem.
I've also read that to fix this all you have to do is roll back to an older version of the Market. The updates have messed it up somehow.
the problem is not the device...
the issue comes with the market sets a cache limit ...
eg cache limit is x size apk is y size if below x limit download if beyond x limit deny
the reason the trick i posted in froyo worked before the new market is it deleted out the temp file folders and recreated tehm without the restriction imposed...
now its handled by the apk itself..
also note working on removing it from the market ;P cause honestly its annoying as hell!!!
Definitely the Market
Its definitely an issue with the new Market 3.x
And it is cache related, but should not be something that we have to worry about fixing.
I found the issue on Google code on the Open Handset Alliance Project. The bug is open, and it would be great for everyone that has this issue to click the star so that the issue can become more important and hopefully be fixed for the next update to Market.
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=21456&q=market%20insufficient%20space&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Owner%20Summary%20Stars&#makechanges
The issue was even opened from a rep inside Samsung.
Thanks all!
