Hi does anyone else have a grainy and noisy front camera experience? I mean in the view finder is horrible and then when saved the picture gets kind of fixed, but still snapchat doesn't make this arrangement for example.. Of course it's more noticeable in poor lightning conditions
Nothink u can do ,all xperia z3 have same engine : Take a photo and then remove noises .The problem is snapchat only "take a photo" ,this app won't remove noised (i think its related with DMR keys algorithm)

But in a dark environment If you cover the front camera with your finger what do you see exactly, I mean is it completely dark? Would you upload a screenshot for me please? [emoji16]
If i using default camera my screen is almost perfectly black (of corse i talking about photo ,not camera viewer) ,in snapchat i have little blue noises ,its all of high ISO (if camera see low light ISO get high ,and noises become more visible) its normal for everyone ,cuz as i said snapchat can't use our algoritms to remove noises (its feature only for default camera ;/)

Black screen while you have your finger over it? Yea that's what you want...
Looks like we are trouble shooting your nude pics being too blurry for snapchat based off that second pic ahha

Please I'm talking seriously, it's not just snapchat instagram as well I just want to know if other people experience the same
As i said, photos from your smartphone look corect
Sad indeed.
Guess when i finally get a Z3, I probably wont be snapchatting much because I already dont on my Moto G due to poor front camera
LOL!! You guys should check out the front camera comparison at phonearena. Z3 came last. Surprisingly in both front and rear camera comparisons....
I use the screen as flash you can turn that on in the snapchat settings. The photo's now have much better quality.
Other camera apps can use the algorithms to correct noise, snapchat can't apparently
Guys an easy fix to this Snapchat problem is just to download the app SaveMySnaps. It allows you to use the default camera to take snaps. Im sure there are alternative apps for instagram too that use the default camera.

I'm sure all of you know that the Touch Pro camera flash turns brighter during the actual taking of a picture. The problem is that the camera doesn't adjust the brightness accordingly! The brightness is adjusted during the preview but thats with the camera flash at a lower luminence.
Here are two examples of the lack of adjustment, in comparison to my Sony Ericsson W810 with its flash as well.
Touch Pro: http://www.mylilsite.net/images/compare/sdtpw8v3/tppaperflash1.jpg
W810: http://www.mylilsite.net/images/compare/sdtpw8v3/w8paperflash1.jpg
Touch Pro: http://www.mylilsite.net/images/compare/sdtpw8v3/tpheatsinkflash1.jpg
W810: http://www.mylilsite.net/images/compare/sdtpw8v3/w8heatsinkflash1.jpg
As you can see, the W810 (which also makes the flash brighter during the actual taking of the picture) is properly programmed to compensate for the change in brightness while the Touch Pro doesn't do anything. Whats the point of having the flash if it just ruins the picture?
Is there anything I can install or modify to get the Touch Pro camera to be smarter like the W810??
Bump!
How about disabling the flash from getting brighter during the actual taking of the picture?
You could always:
1) turn off flash in the camera app
2) run nueLight3, htorch, or another flashlight app and enable the "bright" flash
3) run the camera app (which should compensate for the brighter flash), and take the photo.
Sorry to say, i dont think so - well i havent found anything atleast. Had the TP for a year (just upgraded to the Leo a few weeks ago) and never found anything to make the camera take a decent pic (flash or not) in all that time. Sorry!

Hey, thats a good idea!
Unfortunately...
What I did #1:
1) Ran the Camera app and left the light turned off
2) Pressed Home button
3) Ran nueLight3 and turned on "High Beam"
4) Triggered ArkSwitch and selected Camera
5) Took this screenshot with Shake And Save:

}
6) I couldn't find nueLight3 running in ArkSwitch or Task Manager and couldn't even run the app again. I was only able to turn off the light by resetting the phone. I guess the error experienced by Camera crashed nueLight3 as well.
What I did #2:
1) Ran nueLight3 and turned on "High Beam"
2) Ran the Camera app (triggered by holding PTT button)
3) Took this screenshot with Shake And Save:
4) nueLight3 was still running this time.
Has your idea worked for you?
@Beeble, yeah I agree the camera itself also sucks (my SE W810's is much better), but when outside or just needing a quick picture.. I'd go with my phone. However, it better be able to take pictures properly with its own included hardware and features . So I want this flash issue fixed.
Are there any other ideas?
I've taped a piece of paper to the inside of the backplate over the 'flash' LED. It manages to diffuse it slightly, but I still get a 'bleed' of light from the direction of the flash.
I think having the ability to adjust the behaviour of the flash LED would be great... If the timing of it could be changed so it goes brighter just before the photo was taken, then dims for the actual shot, it would work similar to red-eye reduction in regular cameras.
Any luck in finding an app to help with this since your last post?
hate to say it but, theres no absoluetly no way you can fix how the flash reacts when taking a picture, HTC is not good at specializing in cameras unlike Sony, but the suggestion the guy above was saying is something i would try out, if it doesnt work out for you, theres no other alternative at this moment
Man, really wish some solution was found, hopefully someone finds one. I just had a bad experience using the flash, it was great to have, but that totally bites how it doesn't compensate for the extra flash at the end. Defeats the purpose of the flash. I got the same error trying with htorch.
is there a camera app that has a better panoramic feature than the one that's already built into the HD2? the one that's with the factory camera app doesn't stitch together well. Auto stitching would be great.
Agree on that, "autostitching" should realy be standard. Almost impossible to make a perfect panoramic photo atm...
I really hope someone can make an app with auto stitching cause the HD2 takes beautiful pictures. So having a panoramic feature that actually works right would make it 100x better
Best solution is take individual photos that overlap, transfer to PC, then make panoramas with one of the many progs available for desktop.
I concur. In fact, the best panorama software I had the pleasure to use was (believe it or not) windows live photo gallery.
Here are some examples I had shot with my Canon 720IS...
I challenge you to find any seems, the image was made of 8 images stitched together.

Oh, that's easy to find seems in that picture
Bottom left, something wrong with the tiles on the floor and the handrail/(other english expression for it).
Also, look at the trees from right to left, you'll notice something on the far right side, colours are different too
But that's a pretty good result for Windows Live Photo Gallery!
I still use Photomerge in Photoshop for making panoramas though.
I haven't seen any camera program on a mobile phone do some good stitching and I don't think they are capable of stitching a XX MPix-Pano together well...
I'd be happy if anyone could prove me wrong on this!

Lukas

You got me!!! (though, I still can't seem to find the tree anomaly that you speak of )
As for the colour correction, the source images did not go through any post processing, they were straight from the camera (in full manual with preset white balance, exposure compensation, shutter speed, aperture as well as ISO) I guess the colour variation might be the result of the weird angle of the sun
But, I guess that would be 'good enough' for 99% of users here.
Also, if you are using a mobile for creating panoramic images, that would be the least of your problems.
My wifes iPhone has pretty good app. It's called "auto stitch". It actually works pretty well. Oh well i guess if there's no mobile app for the HD2 I guess I will make panaramic images with PhotoShop. Would be nice to just have it done right on the phone.
Are you looking for something that shows you markers whilst you take the pic, or just something that can stitch pics together?
I think one of the problems is HTC's camera driver (which you'd need access to to write such an app) is a bit of a closed cupboard for developers It's easy in code to access the images after they've been taken (so it would be possible to have an app thatt could stitch existing photos), but not easy (impossible?) to access the real-time video feed bit so that you could overlay stitching markers whilst taking the pics. If you do it the way you're meant to in code I think you get a really low-res version of it from what I've read. Probably HTC being lazy (getting it to work for them but not for any developers). Shame as I reckon we'd have a few iphone-esque augmented reality type apps if things were a bit clearer on that front
James
I found a way to get pano pic´s on the HTC HD2!
Just install this cab... i tried to put it to work and it didn´t worked... I uninstalled it and after it keep on working fine...
I tried the above cab on my HD2
and in panarama mode it takes a very light/bright first image then freezes and reboots the phone in about 30 seconds. Just FYI.
Strange, because i having enabled panoramic photo function by my own registry mod and this mode working very good (of curse best results are when we set light, ISO etc. manualy).
Unfortunely panoramic photos maked in this mode having low resolution, so i suggest is better take few normal photos in different sides and join in some piece of software in PC, because this give much better results.
Since mighty Zn5 i have greatest respect for Motorola camera phones. Soon enough I hope I will change my X10 for xt720.
I would like to see your shots and hear your thoughts about xt720 cam, cause its a shame that this phone doesn't have thread like this of its own.
Thanks
actually the photos taken are not as good as it's counterparts..
well, only photos taken with xt720 you can find on internet are those on Esato forum http://www.esato.com/phonephotos/index.php?make=Motorola&model=MilestoneXT720 and most of them are mediocre except those indoors which are excellent. Majority of other photos, are taken from car or something, so they dont represent true quality. So I wanted to see some representative specimen here
If you check out XT720 reviews, most of them have pics from the camera (for the purpose of the review). I find the camera is pretty good (amazing with the flash in dark environments).

yes I am aware fo that, but those photos are quickly taken during 1-2 days needed for review. But when you use cell and know its strenghts and weakneses you tend to make much better pictures. General story about xt720 camera is, pictures are mediocre, it has shutter lag bla bla bla etc. in which I dont believe according to few samples and specs of camera.
In some cases I like x10 camera, but I dislike: fake colours, low sharpness, idiotic flash, poor night mode, slow interface etc.
Check this xt720 picture out

Amazing sharpness even strong light goes directly in lens
I don't believe the quality of the pics are bad, they tend to look great for me for the most part. Shutter lag is there kind of though (sometimes takes a good moment for it to take the picture after pressing the button) .
and what camera apps do you use?
i has been using the stock app but found out that it compressed the jpeg file too much...
shutter lag as if "time between pressing shutter and actual taking of the photo"? And how big it is? half second, 1 sec?
I ve read somewhere that nightmode is not functioning at all, that its like normal mode + flash, not like normal nightmode with higher iso and exposure?
Post images
xt has good camera quality (I would say better than ZN5)
I don't know of what shutter lag are everybody talking about, but the only lag is happening when you take first picture with xenon flash (this is normal behavior because flash capacitor needs to fill up)
it has very good macro mode, light metering is great (ZN5 would burn some photos with xenon, but with xt this is not case)
auto focus is really quick, and noise is acceptable (mind you this is not camera, but cameraphone )
I fully agree with pajo.
This is a great camera and all functions well. I do notice the shutter lag, but it only happens SOMEtimes, 99% of the time there is no lag. So that 1 time it does happen is not worth mentioning. I use the stock app btw.
I also dunno what people are talking about the modes. Night mode doesn't work? Then why does it work fine here? Same for macro. Also works. Everything in the camera works (I use Dexter 2.2 btw, but even on stock 2.1 it works fine).
I love this phone and the camera
well since I consider Zn5 to be best camera phone after N8, than you put up quite a challeng here . Go post some night landscapes and normal night shots so I can see quality.
Btw concerning HDMI, is it only for playing videos, or you can use TV for playing games, browsing etc.?
Disappointed with the camera quality
Actually I have XT720 with standard OS 2.1
I'm VERY disappointed with quality of pictures.
Here is some comparison I made between my NEW 8Mpixel XT720 and my OLD 5Mpixel Nokia N95.
Please check at attached pictures (name of the pictures should be self explanatory)
Now you really think the camera is good....
I also compared the phone with Sony X10 and Samsung "latest galaxy something" and the worst quality is with Motorola XT720
If you want more test (even more official) take a look at
GSMarena website where they have picture comparison of latest cameraphone and, please, address me to a phone that is worst that XT720.
I just have a question:
Is the camera performing better with 2.2 Update?
Thanks
Hi,
I got CM 11S flashed on my Chinese OPO, boot loader unlocked and rooted.
But the cam results are terrible.
1. Front camera though 5MP has better results.
2. Main camera, in Auto mode wit Flash set at auto, doesn't flash in darkness, if for some reason it does the pic results are so dull, creamy unsharp, despite that its a 13MP.
3. Flash sensor issues?
4. I got great results with Color OS initially......... and later when previously flashed CM 11 S over Color, they weren't that bad either..........may be by chance the the Color cam got ported over CM 11S?
5. So disappointed plan on going back to Color.
Any suggestions, recommendations,
Thanks.
Yeah, i'm not a fan of the camera. AT ALL.
Some things that bug me about the One's camera:
1) pictures look destaurated and color's don't pop.
2) exposure is too dark in almost all cases
3) sharpness is no where near my nexus's 5 stock camera.
Nexus 5's camera is MUCH better.
Unless someone can tell me how to improve this, I just hate the one's camera. sucks.

My phone's issue is cam sucks with CM 11S?
When I got it CM 11S with cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed-fastboot OR cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed results of cam were not bad.
But with this OPO_64GB cam sucks.
Thanks.
For the camera, I don't know what to tell you, but it sees like you just want to modify the camera shutter and exposure settings to your preference. Or you can go into the themes/app section and reflash the stock camera.

I would have to manually over expose the camera EVERY TIME i launch the camera app. Annoying.
I've already installed Google Camera. The stock OnePlus camera and some other ones from the play store.
They all give the same results.
It's fundamentally a camera sensor issue.

Yea, that sounds amiss; personally, I haven't had any noticeable issues with my camera.
But shouldn't the settings persist though, so you don't have to do it EVERY time?
Am a a bit confused........does the Color cam give bad results or CM 11S cam?
Stock OnePlus camera and Google camera have similar results.....What do you imply by stock OP cam?
Is Google cam available at GPS, should I try installing it over CM 11S?
Camera sensor issues are with Color OS?
Thanks.
Guys, it's a matter of knowing how to use a smartphone camera properly. Point and shoot just doesn't cut it for all situations.

I've used the app Perfectly Clear to help edit brightness and saturation and have been very pleased.
Again, it's a camera phone. You can't expect DSLR quality. Great lighting is key with these sensors.

I have seen some complaints but for the less than two days I have had this phone camera has been wonderful.
Outside in good light is on par with most flagships in my opinion and low light is OK but have seen few phones that are better.
Been using slimkat with Google camera and response time is great with auto mode

i took same thing, by changing all camera' sby touching them allways at same point.. here are the results
1) Image taken by Camera Fv5 -
There is image Smoothing going on... which is same as Lenovo stock camera, but this gave the image size of 5 MB
2) Image taken by Cyanogen Camera -
In here, there is no image smoothening but detail level is Maximum than anyother camera i have tested, This gave image size of 6 MB
3) Image taken by Footej camera -
Here also i can see image smoothing, this exactly showcased what lenovo stock camera did , image size is 2 MB
4) Open Camera -
This is another camera which has Good detail, but image taken by Cyanogen camera is having more level of detail than this .. This gave image size of 8 MB ( The highest)
5) Fianlly Stock Camera - Smart ON
This is the fastest snapper among all the camera apps i have tested, but the level of detail is way lower, there is severe image smoothing going on ( same as Camera Fv5,Footej camera) , the image size is 2 MB
i decided there is something Wrong with Smart ON and OFF
so i took samples with ON and OFF , but the resulting image smoothening is similar, the smart ON mode took better exposure control than OFF mode, image sizes are same
Verdict : Open camera, and Cyanogen Camera are atleast overcoming SOME limitations by Lenovo , thereby causing better images than Other cameraapps that i have tested today .. but Color Composition is same in every APP , Brightness and exposure may vary depending on my Touches, but its least to bother..
Lenovo Stock camera app always takes images with lower exposure levels, thus resultant image is Pale
I prefer Cyanogen Camera as its giving more detail, with out smoothening the image aggresively..
@nandakis4
hi, can you share the link to cyanogen camera app? i can't find it in play store...
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/cyanogenmod
I like camera FV5 , you know you can go into settings and adjust image sharpness and if you save as PNG you get less smoothing than saving as jpg , but file is a lot bigger . . I'll post a few photos using different camera apps when i get time
Thanks @nandakis4 but not working on my device, the app stop at launch (cyanogen camera)!
