HDMI-CEC - Nexus Player General
Just thought I'd let you all know that the Nexus player does in fact support HDMI-CEC. This wasn't on any of the specs nor any reviews so I thought it was a feature I'd be losing from the chromecast... Glad it's there.

My nexus player does not turn on TV when I cast to it , my chromecast does it on the same port , am not sure about the HDMI CEC on nexus because of this
Hmm... It absolutely does it on my TV which is a Samsung LED 55 inch. Maybe they have it working partly and that's why they don't list it as a feature?
Does it pass through remote commands such as navigating menus/play/pause etc? My Samsung Bluray player does this through my Sony TV's remote.
I can confirm at least partial functionality for HDMI-CEC on my LG 47LN5750. The TV remote is able to send dpad commands to the NP, but auto-on/input switching functionality does not appear to work as it did for the chromecast.
Edit: After changing from the chromecast to the NP in the same HDMI port, I had to reset some CEC settings on the TV and all is functioning normally.
Is the nexus player always on just like the Chromecast is when plugged into a wall outlet?

Yes, it is always on. It has a "sleep" mode where it shuts off the display, but the device isn't really OFF.
Is there a way to get the player to turn on the tv besides casting?
Since the player comes with a remote it would be nice if I could just push a dang button and it would turn on the tv if it was off.... I think the home button should send tv wake command each time. Or instead if the nexus player is in low power state it should send wake command when the player wakes.

Can someone answer this question? I'm afraid navigating menus with back / home and media commands like play / stop / pause / fast forward / etc won't work.

My new Sony tv does pass through the controls, back/home/arrows/select, its enough to work with.
Its sometimes a little challenging to wake up (hitting back usually works though)

My old (7 years) Samsung TV also controls the Nexus Player just fine through HDMI-CEC.
Controlling NP with the TV remote does work over CEC on 2011 LG TV, but I find that it's substantially slower than using NP's remote a 2.4ghz remote/air mouse. YMMV.

With my LG TV remote i seem to have to press the play or pause buttons twice to get a response. It isnt just slow, it only works the second time i press the button. The dpad functionality is even stranger. I press right it does nothing, then press left and it goes right, i press center and it goes left, i press up and it selects whatever is highlighted with the center. With each dpad press it does the last button I pressed, if only there were a way to fix this. I really just want a fancier bluetooth remote for the Nexus Player that could turn on my TV, control volume, and maybe even just be fully functional universal remote through CEC? Does CEC have the capability to function in both directions? That would be lovely but I wont hold my breath. The remote juggling that is necessary with this thing is my biggest complaint.

What buttons did you use for home/back? I just got a new sony TV and programmed my Harmony and CEC is working great but I cant figure out which buttons do home/back.
I have an LG 55LA690 and before I used Chromecast. I have Sinplink enabled for it, so when I cast something to it, it switches the TV from antenna mode, to HDMI. Well, this is not available for Nexus Player. I do not see simpmlink being enabled for it and it does not switch to player when casting to it. Also, I have that awesome Magic Remote for LG and it does not work with the player. Such a shame, as the current nexus remote is quite limited.
Later edit: I managed to make LG's simplink to work with Nexus Player by changing the HDMI cable. It seems that my older cable was not CEC compatible.
I can confirm that The Nexus Player can receive CEC from my television, but can anyone confirm it can send signals to other devices (Volume Control, Input Switching, Power)? I haven't been able to find an Android app that provides this function.
I have a Sharp Aquos LC32D64U Television. The IR remote can provide the same functions as the remote included with the Nexus Player.
When I hit the googlecast control on my phone it switches/hijacks the input and switched the tv to the nexus player.
Side note, I now have a nexus player in the office too, on a w7 sony tv, which doesn't do the CEC control (even with the other cable that I know works), the w8 I have down stairs does work fine. Bloody sony and standards!
I have a Panasonic Viera TV. The CEC worked on the nexus player but I had to wipe it and start fresh but now the CEC doesn't work. Does anyone have any input?

Hi guys, I'm looking for suggestions for a specific type of remote control software, I used something long ago during the Gingerbread days but I cannot find it at all... I want to be able to use my phone as a mouse using the accelerometer (something like this app) for a computer over LAN but with the added option of having an on screen button or something which opens up a keyboard on my phone for typing on the computer. I don't need to see the computer screen on my phone such as in TeamViewer. I tried using a regular bluetooth keyboard and mouse but somehow the range suffers in certain spots where I sit, and I have battery issues... Feature Wishlist: Any added functionality like also working over the internet, volume button support, not needing a server application, good ui, etc will be a bonus. Thank you!

Found a cool built-in function on my Nexus Player. Try holding the circle (home) button on your Nexus remote while on any other input on your TV - it should switch to the NPlayer input right away! PLEASE HIT THE THANKS BUTTON IF I HELPED YOU!
Huh. I've had my NP steal focus a couple times. Maybe the Home button got squeezed by accident. By any chance do you know how to make a computer steal focus the same way? I have a Logitech K400 (awesome keyboard+mouse) by my chair, so it would be neat to be able to switch the focus like that.

Ipega 9023 on my Nvidia tablet K1 device
@ android 6..1 latest I am trying to play RTS games via gamestream on my laptop to my Nvidia tablet using the ipega controller. Now it does work and im reasonably happy though i suppose it will get some getting used to. I am using the Keyboard and Mouse mode. While controlling the game with the analog sticks and gamepadbuttons function as mouse buttons. But i am wondering to try some other things. Can I for example increase/decrease sensitivity of the analog sticks functioning as the mouse? Or increase/decrease the acceleration of the pointer/analogstick.. Would be great if you can fiddle around with it. Also one other thing I really want changed is the keyboard mode. Some default keys are mapped to the keyboard mode of the Ipega 9023. Now ofcourse I want to use specific buttons for the game itself and switch between keyboard and mouse mode as I play my RTS. But how would I do this? There is no documentation on this... which is annoying. I also heard about Tincore. I installed it and it sees my controller, but not sure if this app can do what i want and how I would do this... Also have the software from the ipega company called android gamepad center. I started it but im not sure what this software does. If I do it like this like him, the gamepad center screen doesn't change, At my screen it just keeps saying connect blue tooth controller. Remote Camera Control Phone to Phone
I need a way to use a device or another android phone to remotely control the video camera software on the other phone. I have an LG V20 I need to control its camera software (the stock software) I need to be able to hit the record video button the stop button and MOST critical pause and unpause video button. (while recording) I want to use the V20 to make videos but to use the nicer 4k camera I need to face the phone toward me which means the screen will face AWAY from me. I can't see it or effectively touch it to interact with it. being able to see the screen smoothly would be great but so far I have found ZERO viable solution for that. inkwire was the closest but its grainy low res has lots of issues and I can't CONTROL the phone (tap anything via the remote connection) so I figure MHL connection to an HDMI screen. that lets me SEE the screen now I just need a way to hit start/stop and pause/unpause reliably and quickly. ideally a physical remote of some sort or an app that has start/stop pause/unpause buttons. any suggestions? all devices will be within arms length of each other. so something over network not needed. direct connect.
[Guide][Tincore Key Mapper] Simulate touches using any (supported) controller.
So finally after millions of google searches, discussions etc I was finally able to find a perfect app for touch emulation. Requirements: 1. Phone must have root access. 2. SE Linux needs to be set to permissive. 3. A (supported) controller and an otg cable. Should work with Bluetooth controllers as well. Follow the below steps and it should work without any problems : 1. Download Tincore key mapper from play store and give it all the permissions it needs ( display over other apps etc) in the app settings- other permissions. 2. Set SE Linux to permissive. You can do this using an app or the android terminal itself. (Google is your friend) 3. Open the app and grant SU permissions to it. 4. It'll show a tutorial and information. Just skip it or read it if you want to. 4. Go in the settings of the app and go-to devices : touchscreen. 5. For now don't change anything it the output device. Tick everything except Haptic feedback and Invert touch generated Y. (screenshots attached) 6. Now connect your controller using an otg (or pair it using Bluetooth) 7. Click on the search icon (device discovery) select the necessary devices. I myself select System, USB, BT and touchscreen. (screenshot attached). 8. Now, click on the three dot menu and click discover devices. You should get a popup now to allow the app to use the controller. you might need to minimise/deactivate the app in the menu to be able to allow the app to use the controller. If you didn't get any popup then recheck if the controller type is selected in device discovery. If you still don't get any pop-up, your controller might not be supported by the phone. Click on Minimize/ deactivate to minimise the app. 9. Now just open the game / app you want to use with the controller (or even use a screenshot of the controls ). Open the app from the notification tray. 10. Click on the screen and then keep on pressing/ holding the keys on the controller and you should see the corresponding key on the screen. Just drag the key to the part of the touchscreen that you want to simulate. 11. Do the same with all the keys / analog sticks. 12. Click on the "tick" icon and check if touches are being simulated. (Enable show taps in developer options) Note : if the app detects the controller but touches aren't simulated change the touch output device to NVT CAPACITIVE TOUCHSCREEN in Devices: Touchscreen. About the application:- Tincore Keymapper is an Android application. This application is a transformer/creator of connected periferals. It allows you to convert or create input devices like gamepad, touchscreen, mouse etc... into a different ouput device that you physically don't have on your tablet, phone, hdmi tv stick etc... Display touching and pressing buttons at same time wont work together. It has something to do with android, because on other mapping apps, even with autoinput+tasker it wont work. tried also with mapping volume buttons. same thing System wide.

does this still work with android 13 ? i can't get it to work. i tried on raspberry pi with androdi 11 + 13. The touch event just not happen when i trigger the defined button-events.
