So, I know am not as knowledgeable as most on this forum, so please be gentle!
I am using the TF700-t, 64 GB internal, with a 64 GB sdcard.
I installed Crombi-kk 4.4.4 on my TF700 a few months ago. Everything worked fine for a couple of months, then I started noticing apps would freeze, the tablet would suddenly reboot on its' own volition...the tablet seemed to have a mind of its' own!
I formatted the tablet, reinstalled, clean install of apps (no backed up data), it worked fine for a few weeks, then the same issues, along with app icons suddenly disappearing from the main screen and new app icons appearing on their own. Really spooky!
Three days ago, I formatted the tablet, installed Crombi-kk again, clean app install, worked fine for a few hours, then started misbehaving again, with the same issues, but now some of the apps (e.g.: Alarm Clock Xtreme) did not function at all (resulting in me oversleeping and being late for work).
Today, I formatted the tablet twice, reinstalled Crombi-kk, installed apps, and rebooted after each app installation (prior to opening the apps). I am noticing that some apps (specifically Google Play Music) refuse to open on the tablet (Apollo works fine). Several apps take a significantly long amount of time to open. There is no seeming pattern as to the issue.
Call me perplexed in North Carolina! Any suggestions or ideas as to what could be occuring? I am on the verge of going out and purchasing a new tablet (but it will not be another ASUS), but do not really want to spend the bucks.
Are you on the correct bootloader???
Other than that, I would recommend to flash a different rom and see if you get the same problems.
I would start with CROMI-X or even stock rooted, try ZOMBi, CM11 - lots to choose from.
That should tell you if this is rom specific or unique to your tablet.

So, for the past month or two my Charge has been great. Absolutely no problems that couldn't be fixed but yesterday this phone started crapping out. First, the phone got itself stuck in a bootloop without me even flashing any files/messing with system files in ANY way. I just noticed I couldn't install any apps through a file manager/market so I rebooted and the boot animation would never end.
I did a factory reset and reflashed Eclipse131, I didn't want to do that because I hadn't backed up my apps but it seemed to be the only way. Well, it fixed the bootloop issue but then EVERYTHING force closed. I literally couldn't do a thing on the phone, anything I tried opening force closed.
So, I used Odin to flash the .pit/.md5 recovery files to fix my phone and all was well... except now I can't recover my contacts from the SD card(so all my 100+ contacts are lost). I can download apps from the market again but installing them through a file manager causes a bootloop! I've never been angry at this phone but right now I'm considering throwing it at the wall, mainly for the 35+ apps, 7 homepages & 100+ contacts I lost for no apparent reason.
Could anyone help? I don't know what the hell is going on and I want to just install the .pit/.md5 again and sell this annoying thing on eBay and buy an S2/Prime when they come out.
I had some similar issues bizarre issues start recently. I would periodically have issues with the market, which I didn't think was a big deal. All of a sudden, my phone was blazing hot in my pocket. I pulled it out and was at the boot animation and it was just sitting there. I pulled the battery, booted it up, and everything start force closing all the time.
I couldn't isolate it because I had recently done a lot of new things to my phone in a short time. I was running GC FE, but installed imoseyen's kernel, V6 SC, Loopy smoothness, Badass tweaks, and the 3G enhancing script all in a short period.
Since all that, I simply ran eclipse with PBJ non-OC for a day and then flashed GC GBE with ext4 when Kejar posted it. No more issues, but I'm trying to be careful with what I install. I'm not even restoring stuff via Titanium right now, just to be safe.
Not really a solution or even a diagnosis of your issues, but I know where you're at.
Hello guys, and before you ask, yes i looked all over the place. So i'm coming from an HTC Inspire, originally had the mt3g and nexus one. I really liked the screen of my wife's infuse so decided to get one myself. so i found one on craigslist that was reasonably priced and was hoping i didn't get ripped off because i'm having issues.
So it wasn't rooted or unlocked, which i had to do myself, which wasn't really an issue, since i consider myself a very capable user. got cwm and even installed a couple different roms. one thing i noticed when installing them however is that apps would periodically disappear.
I couldn't figure out why it was doing it at first, and then upon my research found no one really that had a similar problem.
example. Going from the original rom, i installed R3volution. No problems, i loved it, however after installing Go Launcher and a few addons i didn't already have (i didn't wanna use titanium seeing as how i was coming from the Inspire) i rebooted to make sure my system was doing okay, but things didn't really go so well.
After i rebooted i found that Go Launcher wasn't installed at all. I couldn't even find it. I was going to find it on the Market but couldn't even find that either. I was very disappointed and kind of anxious to find out why it was doing this. After researching, i found it may have been apps2sd. I completely removed my sd card, followed the same steps and had the same results. i have no idea why it does this.
I've had similar issues with the original factory image but not to this extent. If anyone has a solution or some kind of input i would HIGHLY appreciate it. I really love this phone and i'd hate to have to tell my friend i can't sell him my inspire lol.

bad flash..start over.
use adam outler uckj4 or mine uclb3. follow ops.
get into cwm recovery. wipe everything.
reflash rom of choice
I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks.
A fresh start sounds like a good idea, but it could still be apps on the sd card. The physical sdcard you removed is different than Android's "sd card," which is actually just the /sdcard directory on the built in memory.
Did you try going into Settings/Applications/Manage Applications and then clicking on a app that appears to be missing? Sometimes i have issues with apps or their widgets and it gets fixed by going to there and clicking "Move to phone."
Anyway, good luck.

I actually did that but it only works with my rooted stock rom. i really want to use the custom roms.
I also used odin to return to stock, is that similar?
So i did it but when i tried accessing recovery mode, it scrambles my display. no idea why...
Qkster and Matt you guys did me a great service, thanks a bunch. I did both and it appears to have fixed it. i ran into a spot of trouble when i installed gb because i couldn't enable dev mode in usb (it auto-shut off) and recovery was just a bunch of jumbled data, but i eventually got it working.
I'm not running revo and will probably try a few other roms! I'm a little hesitant since my phone hasn't been this stable in a while and i aim to keep it that way for a while lol. You were right about it not being a good flash, wiped everything again and went back to oem to fix it. I also had to remove apps from the micro-sd on the original rom, newer roms appear to do this automatically so that's nice lol.
Again thank you both!

good to hear you got it working.
change the title of your thread to:[SOLVED] Apps disappearing.
Hit the thank buttons...we love it.
hey qkster
i having this app dissapear problem also.. i just flashed SAUROM ROM to test and every time i reboot my phone it would disappear and i went into manage apps i can still see it but when i try to move it over to sd it would say " failed to move application. application not found" but all the apps i store on external sd would be there.. any ideas? another bad flash?
Fast Boot option may be the culprit
In case anyone checks this old thread...
I did not need to move anything back onto my HTC Droid Incredible phone (either memory or internal storage)
I did find a neat tweak that appears to work for just about any sdcard in any Android device, as long as the option exists in the Android OS settings
CUT TO THE SOLUTION BELOW -- SEARCH FOR ////
Some (not all) of my apps moved to SD (all by Titanium Backup Pro) have begun to disappear and (sometimes) reappear without warning after I began to add and delete large Virtual Machines created in QEMU from my 16GB SanDisc class 10 microSD card on my HTC Droid Incredible running rooted stock Verizon Android Froyo 2.2.3. I know this thread is far from my phone's "home base", but from what I can tell this problem with disappearing apps located on an sdcard is NOT determined by hardware or even Android version.
I also happen to use LauncherPro by Federico Carnales instead of the built-in HTC Sense launcher. I noted elsewhere on XDA that a user had suggested that because at least some (maybe all) launchers start before the SD Card that this may be a problem, especially if changes are made to the sdcard that the launcher did not perform, or was not active during their performance by other apps such as Titanium Backup. That fits my situation, because I unmounted the SD, physically removed it to a PC, and added/deleted large VM files to save (lots) of time. No problems of this sort before I did this, so there must be some connection.
I noted that other users have tried reformatting SD, substituting different brands of SD, using newer/older SD etc. None of these reliably helped. So I skipped these options.
//// The (simple!) solution I tried that SEEMS to work (only time will tell!) is buried in the main Android Settings (accessed from the Menu button while in Home screen). Under "Applications" there is a setting "Fast Boot" that I checked long ago and forgot about (it seemed like a good thing to do at the time). The text warns "Turn off to use some Market apps" (that shows the age of my 2-yr old used phone and Android OS -- ohmygosh!-- because it refers to Market rather than Google Play Store!) Anyway, I unchecked the option and rebooted the phone.
Yes, it took a bit longer to boot (maybe a whole minute!), but after waiting about another minute ALL my home screen apps had normal icons and loaded properly. Titanium Backup Pro batch scenarios confirmed there were no apps in a forced uninstalled state (i.e. I had not done the deed, the system somehow had done it or at least rendered the apps "invisible" to Titanium, which decided they needed reinstallation).
The only odd behaviour was that auto brightness was turned off after I unchecked Fast Boot and rebooted. Going into Android Settings > Display and rechecking "auto brightness" took care of that. No other oddities or strange behaviours thus far (but it has only been about an hour).
I will report back here on this thread only (Samsung Fascinate > Fascinate Q&A > What just happend? apps on sdcard) if anything else requires reporting. Silence implies success!

First, Lonnnng time reader/modder/hacker/technut, first time poster.
Secondly, my questions are: 1) Anyone else had such a positive experience as I did? And 2) Anyone else reproduce or trigger this ‘update’ in ICS?
Story below:
So I just purchased TF101 used, brought it home, and found out the long and hard way about the SOD/RR/DOCK/BATTERY/KERNEL issues that are plaguing a lot of users. So I researched for the past week (I'm a new owner), tried JB, ICS, etc, rom after rom. Still had same issues, and new ones (no wifi, sound, docking support gone, etc).
So, I went BACK to honeycomb 3.01 by flashing official update (WW version as I am in Canada) zip via CWM. I wiped cache, dalvik, data via CWM. Installed the zip. Tablet booted up perfectly. I did not sign into the google store. Turned tablet off completely WITHOUT being docked. Cold booted. Shut down. Used it for about 1.5 hrs, no reboots and could not repeat SOD/RR. However, HC is very slow compared to ICS. I then looked for the 3.2.1 update as it apparently makes the dock work correctly, and could never find it ANYWHERE (one rapidshare link and it was dead), all links were dead as the JP vers is the only one on Asus official site. 'check for updates' within the tablet did not work.
Next, I downloaded official xx.27 ICS off Asus website (around 253mB). Same procedure. wiped all cache/data/etc, flashed in CWM still (never put stock recovery as many recommended, didn't see the point). Booted tablet. Signed onto wifi, skipped signing in google account. Once in, turned off and cold booted back on. Used it for maybe 10 secs, and Asus updater pops up in task bar. The update had the same file-name of the update I just flashed however it had a July 27 date on it, and it was 302 mB (noticably larger than the 250~mB) update. NEVER saw this dialog before, even with my many attempts previously and all the different flashes/roms. Updater rebooted, installed itself (maybe 2 mins). I shut down completely once back in. Also, I still have not signed into my google account.
Following ICS update and shutdown, I then plugged my dock into wall outlet. I then finally docked (while off and for first time during entire process) the tablet, which then booted up. It immediately recognized the tablet, and made that ping sound confirming it was connected. Tablet booted up. I shut down, cold booted one last time. I then put it away on my shelf, lid closed. I opened this morning and 0 SOD or battery drain, which happened with EVERY SINGLE kernel/rom I tried for the past week. It would either SOD or RR. I left it open on 'about tablet' with uptime counter. It is still going. I checked various emails this morning, and ran some videos, etc, etc. Trying to reproduce RR/SOD. Usually it would occur within 10-15 mins of actually using it unit/being on wifi/etc/sleeping and waking.
I have a feeling that somehow Google is sending code (since you authorize OTA updates when you sign in) via being signed in that is somehow RR/SOD'ing (my theory), or there is some mysterious update I somehow triggered through this process. If anyone has reproduced this please let me know. But for now, this seems to fix battery drain at the very least, however I am running stock CPU clocks.
As i and many other are familiar with the RR/SOD troubles i have to say since i've updated with stock rooted .27 i haven't got the trouble anymore
Just checked and my transformer is still 86 % of battery capacity with an standby time of 1 day 18 hours
Before this update it almost always RR after using it when it was in standby mode again !
Ever since this update procedure my RR/SOD problems went down to near 0. I had one reboot in 3 long days of using my device, and that was from the stock browser. Which crashed before as well, anyways. I think this is a definite fix, which DOES NOT rely on external apps.
Not sure exactley how I triggered the update process. Please someone reproduce this 300~mB update that I triggered using CWM the entire update process!
Also, I have since extesively installed Google Play apps, and non-market sources. Not one crash, SOD, or RR. Dock work, charges excellent. Been using the unit for 2-3 days off and on with cbr viewer, movies n music playing, tonsof web browsing, etc. NO RR! NO SOD!
Hi folks,
What is a good diagnostic software package I can run to see if I have a memory or other hardware problem?
My Tab 2 10.1 p5113 has been glitchy for more than six months. I initially blamed it on the horrible software update late last year, but even after taking the subsequent update (MK3) this thing still has force closes all over the place and reboots often. My other identical 5113 has been rock steady since the MK3 update.
I've wiped the tab, installed several different custom ROMs. OMNIROM was much less glitchy, but it still would die after a while and reboot. I would also see some graphic artifacts on the screen, sort of in a line from left side about mid-way down the screen. This persisted over a few different roms I've tried, coming and going.
Eventually I wiped everything and did an Odin-to-stock MK3. The tab is still unstable, even before installing any non stock apps. IT rebooted while doing its initial setup (right after entering Google account), then again during the first app update once playstore realized it was a year out of date for the apps.
If it were a PC, I would be running memtest and other utilities to troubleshoot memory and "hard drive" communications.
What's the best thing to try here? I'm thinking to sell it on the Swappa Boneyard, but interested to do full diagnostics first...

I picked up an Mi 4 a bit over a year ago to test Windows Mobile as the organization was evaluating the ecosystem then.
There wasn't enough interest in it so the phone sat in a drawer for several months.
Wanting to breathe new life into the device, I made the switch back to Android this morning via MIUI 8 without issue.
Then I learned LineageOS was available for it so I laid that down:
Got TWRP setup per https://twrp.me/devices/xiaomimi3.html & https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/cancro/install
Got LineageOS installed per https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/cancro/install
At the same time, installed the nano variant of OpenGApps http://opengapps.org/?api=7.1&variant=nano
Everything went off error free and the phone booted just fine.
But after getting it all setup, I started seeing several notifications that various apps won't work until Google Play Services is installed. When I tap on the notification, a window briefly launches then disappears just as fast. I assume it was the Play Store but it can't be certain because its essentially a blank window that appears for less than a second without fully drawing/rendering the content within. When I click on the Play Store, it won't open at all, often not even displaying anything (even momentarily) on screen like the tap on the notification does.
I booted back into TWRP, re-applied the same nano variant but that didn't help.
Thinking I made a mistake somewhere, I started over by wiping and reinstalling the OS, downloading & pushing a fresh download of the nano variant package yet the problem persisted.
After the second installation I decided to try with the super and stock variants but both failed due to not enough space on /system.
I'm in transit at the moment so I'll give it another go with the mini then micro variants later, but wanted to get this out there in the event someone could point out what I might be doing wrong.
Thanks in advance.
Solved - Use Mini Variant
I applied the mini variant and all is well.
So I have to ask the question: Was what I experienced to be expected? If not, what might I have done wrong?
