I'm pleased to present my MoDaCo Custom Jelly Bean ROM for the WiFi Nexus 7! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know.
About MoDaCo Custom ROMs
MoDaCo Custom ROMs are based on official ROMs. A MCR release is designed to feel like a stock ROM with optimisations, tweaks and complimentary additions that enhance the user experience. The aim of a MCR is to be ultra reliable for use on an everyday device.
Requirements
In order to use this ROM you must have a custom recovery installed. The ROM is installed at your own risk. A wipe IS recommended if coming from a ROM other than MCR or stock. BACK UP YOUR DEVICE BEFORE INSTALLATION!
MCR Nexus ROM features Include... (many optional via the Online Kitchen) - check kitchen defaults for what is in the prebake:
Based on the 4.2.2 / JDQ39 release, updated, rebuilt, compressed and optimised with the MCR build system.
For this MCR we've used the latest available shipping ROM, updated with all the latest versions of the installed apps, which we've run through our scripts to ensure that it is as optimised as possible both for install / download size and real life performance.

De-odexed... re-odexable.
Our ROMs are de-odedex, giving you the ability to flash other mods over the top, tweak the system and generally get the system set up as you want it without worrying about odex issues. We also include the 'OdexMe' application, which lets you odex your system when you're ready, saving valuable space on your data partition.

Pre-rooted
All MCR ROMs are pre-rooted with SuperSU preinstalled. In addition, the kitchen allows you to choose between secure, insecure and secure with patched ADB boot images.

Enhanced Quick Settings
The quick settings in Android 4.2 are cool, but limited. MCR builds include a customised version of the excellent 'Quick Settings' mod by kevdlui, allowing you to customise your toggles by holding the Settings button down. The WiFi and Bluetooth buttons are also changed to toggles - long press to access the settings menus.

Apps aren't disabled on boot
Jelly Bean added a feature to disable apps on boot that aren't intended for your region (Wallet, Ears, Magazines etc.). I think we're smart enough to make that decision ourselves right? So that doesn't happen in a MCR.

Legacy Play Store
Isn't it frustrating how Google removed the ability in the Play Store to see which apps you'd bought in a nice simple list? I thought so... so I created 'Legacy Play Store', which has this feature.

Legacy browser and Flash
Google might be ditching the stock browser for Chrome and Adobe might have canned Flash, but we still need to use it sometimes... so it's included in a MCR.

We've patched Google Wallet to remove all region and root checks, so you can have a play!

Google removed all support for syncing contact information via the Facebook app, we put it back. It's basic support (an app like HaxSync is more fully featured) but hey, it works!

MCR Nexus 7 ROM specific features Include... (many optional via the Online Kitchen) - check kitchen defaults for what is in the prebake:
Alternative UI options (clickable when hidden menu keys with alternate locations, search button)
A number of different UI options are included - the default option makes the legacy menu button available on both sides of the screen for easy reach and also keeps them active when invisible, handy if there's a pesky menu button at the top right that you can't quite get too! You can also bring back the good old search button. In stock Android the navigation bar always stays at the bottom - in the kitchen you can choose to have this move to the right. Finally, percentage battery meters are also included in stock style and round style.

Please see the post below this one for the changelog.
Installation
To install this ROM:
Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and copy to your sdcard.
Restart your device in recovery mode
PERFORM A BACKUP FROM THE MENU
Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to the internal sd card! Remember that due to the 4.2 user changes, you may need to change to the '0' directory in recovery to find the zip!
If you have problems with Market licencing, check your device date!
First boot may take a while - be patient while it carries out it's pre-dexopt. It's worth it!

If you have a general question, please post in the topic.
Thanks
It's impossible to mention everyone who contributes to the Android community by name, but to everyone out there who does great work and shares it with us all - you have my gratitude and respect.
Future Updates - READ THIS!
By providing this ROM I am not guaranteeing that future updates will follow. Due to limits on my time and the fact that I have a large number of devices for short periods of time, it isn't possible for me to continue providing ROM updates indefinitely. Please do not donate / sign up on the assumption that future releases will be available (I don't want you to be disappointed!).
And finally...
Details on how to donate should you wish to do so are in the download topic at MoDaCo.
Enjoy!

Hey Paul, Nice to see you here...Still waiting for the shipment of the device and the mess Google did in the ordering process, I will be getting both 8GB and 16GB version. Good to know that we already have something to flash on as soon as it arrives....
Been using it most of the day without any issues. Thanks!
Thanks for having one so quickly & giving members the option to build our own with the kitchen!
I am going to thank you in advance even tho I have not got my nexus 7 yet can't wait to try your build out

Thanks paulobrien, first thing I am flashing when I get the device. If you need any banner/logo, let me know.
The launcher with the landscape mode enabled crashes every time I add an app or widget to the homescreen. Other than that the Rom seems to be working flawlessly. Any ideas to keep the launcher from crashing? Thank you modaco
How much HD space is left on the 7 after this install?
Just baked me my first ROM since rooting my N7 Thank you Paul!!!
I like this ROM a lot so far. The MoDaCo launcher is fc at random times and when you try to drop widgets on the homescreen. Its the only thing I can call a bug that I have found thus far. I flashed the Atlantis 2 kernel and the combination is nice thus far.

Hi Paul,
I noticed that you listed Apex Launcher as an alternative for this ROM, personally for your appreciation of vertical app drawer scrolling, however Nova Launcher does do this too...if you weren't aware
I get this bug too, not much of an issue though as the stock launcher is also included, but it would be nice to use the launcher horizontally!
Small question, I don't think it's specific to this rom, I guess it must be missing from the stock rom too, but on a youtube video I saw they could say 'Google' from Google Now and it would open the voice search, rather than pressing the microphone. Maybe this is just on the Galaxy Nexus though. Would be cool to re-enable it.
Other than that thanks for your quick work!

This feature works fine. It only works with Google now open though. I assume you are trying to use it like the s voice "hi galaxy" thing but I'm not sure if it works that way. Try saying Google when Now is open it will respond immediately

HTC Sense users look for 2 things. An experience to match the beauty and perfection of their HTC ONE or get the closest to a Google Experience without ruining their HTC Sense experience. I've done both... The solution you ask? Ive built a hybrid just for us.
Based off of the AOSP Launcher3 latest revision in kitkat and my private OpenSense SDK, Id like to introduce HTC Sapphire UI for HTC ONE. Sapphire is an exclusive 3rd party launcher designed and built specifically for the architecture of the HTC ONE device lineup and OpenSense SDK offering users an unbelievably smooth and Google/HTC hybrid experience. Sapphire offers users a launcher experience that both meets the expectations of Google fans and Blinkfeed fans as this launcher is binded to both Blinkfeed and Google Now.
Current Features (Going based on Dev Preview)
*Based on latest revision of Launcher3 kitkat
*Built on SDK21
*Built on OpenSense 7 SDK
*Mirrored off HTC Framework
*Activity and Custom Shortcut support
*HTC Widget Support
*AOSP wallpaper crop support
*Google Now always listening support
*HTC Blinkfeed persistant support
*Optimized Interface for HTC Sense
*Super Stable User Interface
*Highly Modified Launcher Activity based on Prism
*Google Sync (WIP)
*Gesture Recognition/Launch
*Swipe motion detection
*Sapphire wallpaper chooser (choice of wallpapers)
*S-Dashboard
*Sapphire Search Bar
*Sapphire Time Clock

I think htc , itself wont like you tampering and putting something on playstore which makes use of htc framework.
they removed htc look alike widgets , dont think this is gonna last long on play store.
or
u planning to just keep it only on these developments forums?

One of 2 things could cuz this as I see InsertCoin users are having the same problem. A feature request has been modified in the rom to the point, Sapphire doesn't understand it or the model ID number doesnt match of what it should be in Google Play to talk back to compatibility list.
I will be investigating this

So apparently HTC has been working on bringing its Sense Home Launcher to non-HTC devices. Their latest beta apk seems to work fine on non-HTC devices. So far I've tested it out on my M8 running the latest H14 GPE and it seems to work fine enough (although I feel it looks less polished than the Sense 6/7 version with regards to Blinkfeed). Anyway, here's the link to the apk. Be sure to install the latest HTC Sense Home 8.01.775526 beta from June 30th. Apparently earlier versions don't work.
DOWNLOAD
- Can only be installed on devices running Android 4.4+
- Does not require root
Screenshots
Test Notes
1. Blinkfeed works. However I couldn't seem to get Facebook to work. It asked for authorization but it just looped endlessly.
2. HTC seems to have brought the theme store to non-HTC devices as well. Have not had the chance to test it out thoroughly, so do report here if it does (or doesn't) work as it should.
3. If you were hoping HTC also brought the iconic Sense widgets like the huge clock + weather, you'll be disappointed. Didn't find any trace of it in the settings.
Disclaimer
This is owned and created by HTC. I in no way am posting this as my own work nor will I be responsible for any mishaps or bugs that may occur. I'm merely sharing the link here for people to try. Also keep in mind this is still a beta product. Expect the occasional lag, stutter, crash or bugs here and there. Future updates may break compatibility with non-HTC devices so also keep that in mind.

Hi, RohinZaraki...
Well, I've just downloaded and installed this on my Nexus 9 tablet, which I suppose is cheating a bit 'cos it's built by HTC under license from Google... but running stock Marshmallow Android.
Anyhow, it works... sort of!
The major problem is it doesn't scale well for tablets. The icons are tiny and the app drawer looks vaguely ridiculous with tiny icons separated by lots of space, and with no way of changing the app drawer grid layout beyond 4x5.
And there's no way of adding more than four app icons to the dock bar.
On the upside, Blinkfeed works...
I was able to login to my Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr accounts and they all display in BlinkFeed without issues. News Republic also works too.
Odd that Google+ doesn't seem to be available though.
-------------
Anyway, thanks for sharing this, RohinZaraki - it's appreciated.
I'd read somewhere recently, that HTC where planning on making the Blinkfeed Launcher available for the wider Android community. I just didn't when, where or how it was going to happen.
-------------
I've appended some screenshots of how it looks on my Nexus 9.
Kind Rgrds,
Ged.
The latest version (26 July) works very well:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/htc-co...-sense-home-8-01-786968-android-apk-download/
Version 8.01 is for non HTC devices (in case someone looks for future updates).

Hi peeps. I'm currently running my U11 on Rooted 7.1 Nougat Stock ROM, which I love to pieces, it's very smooth, fast & stable.
I would like to know what peoples experiences are with Oreo, since it's a big job to upgrade once you've rooted. Are there any real advantages to updating? Is it worth the hassle?
Give me the skinny
cheers :good:

I was glad to get it mainly for two reasons - A it allows our company client certificates to be imported that were too advanced or something for Nougat (so now I can browse our internal systems from phone) and B there is LDAC support (useful if you have high-end Sony BT headphones) and other Bluetooth hi-res audio codecs on top of regular aptX. I also find the UI neater, and like new option for do not disturb mode (notifications off until next planned silent time ends) but that alone wouldn't make me flash. Let's see what others have to say
Oreo was the start of all my problems... It's a tough situation though because Oreo brings with it the latest Android security patches...
But have had endless network, SMS and Wifi issues ever since.
Good luck!
Icons are UGGLLLYYY! as hell! And yes i know themes ... but cant fix all problems - you need to change launcher =(

I suspect upgrade process is at fault, which wouldn't occur when re-flashing the rooted phone and restoring or re-installing your apps there. Just my guess though. Personally I didn't experience any such problems after OTA to Oreo.

Well, setting HTC Classical icons in Personalize - Edit current theme - Icons fixes most except for Google ones. I didn't really like how Oreo (or HTC?) rounded all the icons, with Google ones it works IMO.

This is the second Android 10 update for Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite. First Android 10 update bricked our phones.
This build has 213 System app. I hope they will do cleanup on the next one. We need a heavy-debloat thread because of this. I thought i am using pure Android phone. But this is too much.
It will be beneficial to restart your phone after the first installation.
I will constantly update this topic.

Thank you.
I currently have the previous version installed, which in my case caused the black dots at the bottom of the screen.
The update manager, however, continues to offer me the wrong update that was intended for Android 9, is there anything I can do to solve?

Just installed via downloaded OTA file on my Android 10 buggy update:
Black bars dissappered.
Magisk works.
Nothing weird going on, it looks just the same as the buggy update but without black bars.
Customize your pixel is still there.
System update still tries to download the Android P update and fails. Got fixed after a few hours, now says system is up to date.

4- Important Safety Information crashes.

This one and probably others doesn't crash for me. Gcam works as usual with focus problems.

I have no idea.
At first I was sceptic and didn't wanted to update, but some said it's working fine so I did. In the past 1 hour I didn't encounter any bugs and feels like there are some improvements on the phone with haptic feedback and bottom speaker sound quality.
The new ROM was officially announced on the mi forums by the forum moderator.
The new rom is again "partial" and announced in "phrases"... Such professionalism.
Yet for the users from the first wave, the update is still locked on P security patch.
I am not complaining about the update itself here... I am complaining on the... sheer underwhelming quality of the official Mi Community...
Also, for OP.
These were fixed in the initial first wave:
4- Fixed android.process.media crash while choosing Ringtone when DND on.
7- Known Android 10 features.
8- New! Qualcomm FM Radio app instead of Xiaomi's own. (as a side commentary, it's stupid, and if you check the system apps, you'll still find the old Xiaomi app there)
12- Camera captures less blurry Photos. (worked extremely fine and fast in the initial release)
13- Light sensor feels its working. Better than Pie. (took shorter to train, works ok now)
17- New! Google Play system updates! (If its not up to date tap on it and press Check for update button.) (this is the whole thing people were yelling at me it's not going to be implemented, back in the speculation posts... but ohh well)
19- App switching via Navigation button sliding works smooth then Pie.
Now what really matters is the following if you can confirm
-The pixel customization doesn't go away even after you "customized" your device again, and it's annoying.
-Full SD Card access cannot be found in settings, and would only appear after you try editing files with specific app
-The update did reset the battery optimization AI or whatever that function is called and sometimes apps notifications for specific less used apps since the update don't wake the phone up, apps that were previously used and started behaving correctly after a while
-The audio FX in Audio settings is missing and the old problem with a non-root system wide DSP (Noozxoide EIZO-rewire™ PRO) is still persisting.
-The wi-fi icon being stuck to only class 4 wi-fi networks
What I can understand from your list, compared to my initial beta list the following things are fixed:
-the missing kernel drivers fixed
-system animations
- New! Charging sound. (which are not present in 1st wave)
What I can't comment on:
9- I tested all hardware one by one via Factorykit Test app everything works as expected.
While this was true on some users, the fact that the 1st wave bricked so many devices, counts your argument as entirely true, and applicable in the "fixed" section of my list.
1- [email protected] fps Video Recorder doesnt work on OmniVision OV12A10 Camera sensor.
Can't confirm, since I have Sony sensor.
2- System button misaligned in Settings app while using 2 or 3 button Navigation. (see the attached image)
Not broken in 1st wave... So they really had to mess something up in a list of all pros.

100% doesn't brick?
Ok when will xiaomi roll out update #3 or continue update #2
Installed the update via update from SD card. So far everything working ok, I'm wondering what's the files to flash and order to do for having magisk and twrp. I guess ianmcd's twrp is for custom ROMs only, don't know if magisk 20.4 (cannary) works with this fw. Thanks for your advice..
