T-Mobile WiFi Calling App Port - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was searching but haven't found a these thread with this app. Any who got news on this.

That is not something that anybody has been able to duplicate. You can simply use Google Hangouts but unfortunately it will be with another number. THe N6 is supposed to have it with an update sometime next year. I read that somewhere.
Remember that is a stock T-Mobile function

It wont happen. Unless T-Mobile puts out a wifi calling app to the play store. In the Nexus 4 forum there was a bounty of like $3,000 to get it working and they never did. I've read that Lollipop has made it easier to implement so hopefully an app gets released in the future.

Yes I know that it's a stocked function on T-Mobile phones. Many stock functions have been ported, reconfigured, tricked and used on other phones. This is XDA all we need is someone with the "know-how". I'm pretty sure its not a hardware issue therefore it is fair game. I seen a thread were we can configure more base bands to get more signals!!! This definitely falls in that genre of work.

If it were that easy it would of been done a long time ago. The issue was T-Mobile had no AOSP phones with wifi calling already in it. This was more than like the issue with porting it over. But now when the N6 gets wifi calling or wifi unleashed as it called we should then see some port attempts

Thanks for the clarification, I am hoping sometime in February we will have our answer.

When would i9020a Nexus S get the ics update?

I just heard that the other Nexus S phones (except Nexus S 4G) already got the updates, anybody know when the i9020a will get the update? Thanks you!
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Google said it will be a month before all Nexus S devices have the update so at this point all we can do is wait.
If you're feeling brave though, there are a few guides floating around saying how you can flash the i9020T (TMO) ICS OTA update on your i9020a and then flash the ATT radio back.
Thanks, but I'll just wait. I already have bad experience with getting into my phone
Damn... I have to wait another month?

ohh nice thats cool !!
There are a number of different roms in the development forum that use 4.0.3, if you are feeling adventurous. Some of them are for all the different phones.

well... not really two months, more like a month and 1/4. Well even less, depending on when the update comes out. Beginning of march or later. I'm crossing my fingers: I've been waiting patiently for the update and I hope it comes in march
If Google doesn't release an ics update for Nexus S at March, I will lose my whole respect to Google and android... this is getting unfair to a lot of people.

Agreed. I will stop buying android phones. I already bought 3 and was disapointed with them all.. Until this one.. and if google doesn't release ics I will be mad.
This is what you walk into with open source software, with the nexus line of phones, you get updates first not right away.
Its the cost of having an open platform. Its unfortunate, I like being on the cutting edge but its all about preferences. I like flashing, tinkering and messing up. This platform allows it, the other popular platform is more streamlined and closed. You get updates for all the phones once but in my opinion its lacking the tinkering factor. Also, once you go samoled, you never go back.

You should have no issue with unlocking n rooting a nexus..
- Only setback would have to be, the device not being found w/ your pc. aka manually installing the samsung driver properly.
I just redid my sdk after a fresh winOS. n i always spend the most time on just this part...
Rooting the NexusLineup is are one of the simplest bootloaders to unlock.
If i'm not mistaken the whole nexus line up was built for the developing purpose n experience;...
N to answer your ICS-OTA Release for the crespo4g no matter what people tell you.
google had a setback w/ the ns4g n only this device. Cause of 'wiimax' connection issues.
I personally think google is looking for outside help rather then trying to figure it out.
But until you see the official tweet from the official nexus/google/android twitter accounts, or your unrooted device receives the ota. Then no ics rom will properly work to its full ability for our 4Gmachines!
To set record straight there was the orginal rollout for the NS4G.
People reported the issues.
Thats why they didnt continue.
This is why i only stick w/ apple.

Google Wallet compatibility

I'm rolling with a Nexus S right now, and just discovered and started using Google Wallet. I know that the One X(L) has the NFC chip, but can anyone confirm that it is compatible with Google Wallet? It's not a deal-breaker, but it is up there on my list of features that I'd rather not do without.
I thought wallet is only available on sprint/ unlocked nexus phones.
Depends on Carrier. AT&T wont allow it because its putting all of its resources into Isis.
Seems to work on the nexus s that I have on at&t, although I have not tested it by tapping the phone yet. The software installed and I was able to set it up though.
AT&T might not support it, but we will find a way to put it on

There could be so many security holes though if we went about it that way. I think in this case it'd be best to wait for whatever comes out ISIS or whatever.
I tried it on my Rogers One X and it says there's a problem with the secure element

Has anyone managed to get this working?
You get $10 for free by using it FYI.
We will get a working APK method eventually of putting it on. Verizon's Gnex wasn't allowing it either but people found a way to get it to work. Its only a matter of time IMO.

Honestly I'm really hating At&t for crippling this device, I really want to try google wallet, and don't want to have to resort to hacks to make it work, but I will if i get the chance
With the main thread for Google Wallet (GW) now reaching well into 200 pages it is getting to the point where it takes hrs to find out if GW will work for you.

That makes no sense, if its an at&t branded phone then its going to support what at&t allows. Just because you use another carrier doesn't mean that changes
Starting sometime soon unlocking phones for other carriers is going to become illegal so its definitely not going to be a priority

Lol makes perfect sense to me since I don't use at&t. Especially since at&t will unlock your phone with a 10 minute phone call to their customer service.
Also will us prepaid users even be able to use Isis? Probably not, so will get screwed.
How are they going to make sim unlocking illegal? Jail breaking is already perfectly legal and you can even clone your phone as long as you own both devices and pay for your service.

Not really. Might be feasible to spoof the activation from a previously enabled Verizon phone but I don't think anyone's even started working on that, and THAT would be an ugly workaround.

No still not because version's VOICE network is CDMA and if they don't have your ESN in their database you can't connect. Simple as that.
The methods of doing that is similar to those of flashing Sprint phone to boost mobile. But I think it's illegal and can't be discused in xda as it requires modifing imei/esn.

no, it has nothing to do with that.
verizon keeps a list of all the allowed ESN/IMEI numbers and will not let a number on their network that is not in their list.
I think he meant modifying the esn to match one in their database, which would be illegal. This thread should be closed.
I've seen some photos and heard some rumors that Verison will be carrying an official branded Nexus7 (boy, do I mean branded) sometime this year. Hopefully the 5 will follow

Nexus 5 ratted me out to T-Mobile for tethering my nexus 7.

I'm using easy tether app with VPN and Bluetooth connection. Kind of slow, makes it seem like working at work is a better idea. Help, any better way to fix that's less clunky

I use IbVPN but with another phone. So far it works. I assume any VPN solution would work.
Boy, that is probably the most misleading topic ever.
Anyway, the Nexus 5 has nothing to do with being caught tethering as your carrier can tell you're doing it by the user agent of the browser (the most typical method of detecting tethering) and other ways as well.
As for a workaround, there are several available but there's no guarantee on any of them that you won't get busted even so.
It's a chance you take - the carrier tells you it's against the service agreement and you choose to do it anyway; if you get popped and lose your service, the blame lies solely with you alone.
The user agent in this case is android using dolphin browser. Should appear Amy different than my phone.
I'm not whining, BTW, I'm aware of risk and consequence and adult about it. I'm also cheap, so after having used several nexus phones in the past the exact same way and never getting popped sure makes it look like the 5 is the problem doing the reporting about tether use.

This is bad news. I have always been able to tether any tablet through my Nexus device on Tmobile and browse with the stock browser and Netflix app. I have a feeling, Google is playing dirty and sending T-mobile/provider some kind of notice that tethering is now 'on'. I wish they'd develop an app like they did for Google Glass that proxying packets for ANY tethered device. Stick it to the carrier. Especially, Verizon.

Normal,, the thread title and subject are absolutely not about the release date ....
I emailed them and this was their reply:
"Unfortunately the release for this device has been delayed a little. It should be released within the following weeks. We apologize for the long wait and appreciate your patience."
Within the following weeks is extremely vague a timeframe. It could mean 2 weeks from now, 3 weeks from now, or next week. Which one? I'm certainly not banking on next week of course. Dual SIM with good specs at good price point is why I'm still with it, disappointed and all.Still nervous about software updates considering the company's reputation.

Maybe they are waiting for a Marshmallow release. Tgat would hedge the lack of updates issue for a year or so, but I think the odds are slim to none
I would love it if Marshmallow were the real reason, eh? I surely don't bet on it. There have been two other things cited-something about software and something about the quick chargers. So who really knows why. When it comes to updates, one thing that also counts is bugs and fixes, staying on top of things like that. Asus is decent with that with their Zenfone. In the short time I had mine, I had regular firmware updates.

I think I'll be still getting this phone. The bang/buck is just too big to ignore.
Even if I keep it stock, I think I'll be happy.
I'd like to still use Android Pay, and I don't think anyone's found a way to use it w/ a custom ROM (I could be wrong, but I haven't seen it).
I highly doubt they're holding out for Marshmallow, that's another 3-5mos of work in all reality...
Pure XL release delay
Blu posted on their Facebook page last week that the phones are ready to ship, but that they are waiting on the phone chargers from their vendor. Also state they'll post a release date update this week.

Agreed. I switched to Windows for a little while just to test it out and while I mostly liked it, I still ultimately prefer Android. My credit union doesn't have a Windows app and the mobile browser in my Windows phone didn't work correctly on their site so I couldn't do my banking so there were some quirks. Things like that but it still was mostly a decent phone that I might still use as my second line for the time being until I can get a good dual SIM phone.I'm using a not all that great but so so Alcatel go phone right now along with my trusty Note 3.

Some people on Twitter say they ordered even though the page says temporarily out of stock. we'll see what happens. . . i'm going to wait for now.
How can it be out of stock when it was never in stock? I'm holding off anyway because of an LTE concern that I brought up in another thread. I also would opt to wait until they came in stock anyway. And then if I saw that the LTE band that is missing is confirmed as not one near my house, I don't know, I MIGHT still consider this phone. I was looking forward to it delay and all until I read a review that it is missing support for an LTE band. (on both AT&T and T-Mobile for that matter. I'm on AT&T) I mean, I want proper coverage if I'm outlaying the $$$$. So then again, maybe I still would bypass it as I expect full LTE if it is being promoted as such. Will have to see how that unfolds.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Free mobile app
I might get this as a backup phone. If anything I'll return it if I don't like it. Amazon is the best when it comes to stuff like that.
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
I already figure that I'd least get phone reception just fine, (my 4G backup Alcatel go phone on second line is serving that purpose currently just fine and isn't LTE of course) whereas on the Zenfone2 because of the second SIM only being 2G, that part did in fact make a difference and I couldn't even use the second SIM for calls. This is why I'm being fussy. I'm sure the Pure XL will give strong phone coverage so I'd probably be okay there, but I do still hold to wanting my full LTE access and I want to see if this gets addressed. I mean, I want LTE for data usage when I'm in non WIFI areas. First though this phone has to actually be out in actual use so we can find out already!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Free mobile app
I put my pre-order in anyway as I have been running tests on LTE bands in my area assessing the concern I have with not having Band 5 for it, and my area doesn't seem to use Band 5 anyway, so I'm willing to take the gamble. No idea though of a shipping date.
