Hi guys.
Some two months ago, I got the AT&T update which destroyed the battery life on this phone. Small tasks make it turn warm quickly and it lags a lot.
Ex: on the first KK update, my G2 on standby could stay at 100% for several hours. Now with this newest update, my G2 on standby stays at 100% for about an hour or so.
Does anyone know how to return to the very first KitKat update that added Knock Code to the G2? I can't stand the barely one-day battery life anymore.

I'm looking forward to the gingerbread release mostly for the battery drain fix. If they can make this phone last 2-4 days without bleeding dry just sitting idle then I'd die a happy man...
Do u know if the next update has the lg camera app like froyo?

Don't get a smartphone if u want it last 2-4 days. That's asking the impossible. Or get a lame iphone 4. Id have to say its a beast in the battery department.

My old mytouch used to last 2.5 days... 24 hours should not be to much to ask. Currently it seems impossible for this g2x to go 12 hours.

My Nexus One with no sim card inserted lasted almost 5 days before finally quitting. Im sure if someone was able to tweak the polling timeouts and data consumption on idle we could get 2 days out of a phone easily (with no use)
You have to remember some people dont use their phones like us. This is also why I think iPhones are viewed as having amazing battery life. Android users love to play with their phones, the screen really never shuts off.
What's the point in having a phone with no sim card lasting 5 days? I can get the same use out of a brick. Not trying to dis but really, what's the point?

no it doesn't like i said i already played with it and everything change to gingerbread
guys i dont think they'll make a phone with the batter last 2-3 days.. for reasons when your phone is working on the time even when its asleep... like web, facebook, email and more
i had a nokia back when their were popular and the battery lasted 2-3 days because it wasnt such a thing like wifi. facebook or other stuff that make your phone run all the time.... you can have an extra battery if you dont want to be without a phone when that battery drains...
you know what i didnt though about it... but he suppost to have that phone to test this week and when he bring it over ill take a picture with it.... and like i say the last time he got the phone to test the battery lasted 4 hours max and thats why their taking their time to resolve that problem
Im actually on day 3 but Im only running 500 Mhz and its under volted I just did this to see how long it would last with light use

Ive been using a vzw iphone 4 for the last couple days, and ill say, its battery is much better than the first g2x i had. I absolutely hammer that battery..with around 5-6 hours screen on time..and it holds up well.
I've read along time ago before the first iphone came out that the battery would be integrated into the whole device and that it would fit into unused "nooks and crannies" to give it that extra lasting power. The only downside, I believe is that you can't manually change out the iphone battery. So that's why the iphone has a greating operating time.
Although I'm glad LG and other Android manufacturers didn't limit us Android device owners with a non changeable battery, I believe that they can tweak the operating system to not "bleed" the battery when just on standby and just being idle without the user not actively using the phone.
Even with Wifi, data, bluetooth, GPS, screen display etc. disabled, after a few hours on non use it's not surprising to find the battery has drained sometimes up to 10% within 2 hours. This is unacceptable, and doesn't have to be this way.
Fix it google by disabling the "spyware" you implemented into the android OS.

Little ticked with this g2x battery, but you got a point with the iphone. Someone laughed at my battery, saying their iphone was so much better and all that meanwhile he hardly used the phone. Then I also have a co-worker that barely gets 5-6 hours without recharging as well.
This turned into ANOTHER battery thread.

Come on guys, I cleaned this thread. Why the rudeness??. The OP is just stating something he wanted to share with this community and you start posting about his grammar and other nonsense stuff.
Please, just focus in the discussion or just read the post (with no comments, if you are not going to contribute).
Thanks,
I know battery life is one of the big issues Gingerbread's supposed to fix. The SGS2 came out on 2.3.3. and the battery life has pretty much been abysmal. Samsung's releasing a 2.3.4. update next week. This explains why...
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Almo...uffering-from-power-consumption-issue_id19060
On the bright side, the battery *****ing on the Sensation forum hasn't been too bad and they're on 2.3.3. So maybe the OEM's can do some driver tweaking to get past the problem. It might just be something to keep in your back pocket should the LG update be on 2.3.3.
Thought you guys would get a LOL out of this... on my 3rd battery from tmobile trying to convince them to just send me a new phone.. told the rep it dies in 4 hours of idle time... His excuse "well that's because the G2x is a very powerful phone that does a lot of things so 4 hours is about normal." bahahaha nice try. new phone arrives tuesday.

Talked to them about this today. I have been losing about 20% an hour while plugged into USB (while using the phone). They just read the steps the computer shows them.
First I was told that I need a task manager to kill apps I am not running. I was also told if I have a lot of apps that could cause this too. I mentioned that apps in memory aren't using the processor, and therefore not causing battery drain. I was then informed that having a lot of apps could cause the phone to run slowly. I mentioned I wasn't having issues with the phone running slow, but an issue with battery drain. They then told me that the processor has to work harder when there are stalls due to having many apps. I then asked why there was so much memory on the phone for apps, and mentioned that working in development myself, have no idea how this could be. There was no more discussion about this.
I was then asked how much I charge my phone. I said I charge it over night to full, and then while I am using at my desk I usually have it plugged in to the computer by USB when I use the phone, which equals to about half to 75% of the work day. I was told this was too much and there was no response when I mentioned again that this was during use and it was still draining. My only other option was to let the phone die.
A few more things to check and they finally said they were going to send out a new one, but that they were required to go through those trouble shooting steps first. At that point it is obvious they repeat what they are told.

More people need to emphasis this. I'm so very tired of 'tech support' telling folks to use task managers and killers on Android.
so far running cm7 and now cm7 xboarder v1.0.1, I am getting anywhere from 17-23 hours of battery life on a daily basis. I am texting throughout the day, regular phone calls with at least a 45 min call every noight and regular pandora use for around 5 hours a day. After rooting, my battery life tripled and then cm7 and its variants are making it even better. just my 2 cents
X boarder?

id say my battery life is pretty good, cm7 RC1 and fauxs kernel. lasts me all day maybe more. moderate use too.
Ehh whenever im at the t-mobile store and they're always speaking nonsense, complete idiots.
I spoke to an escalation Rep at LG and she told me LG is okay with 25% drain an hour. Ha! L

My pet theory concerns the charger. Did a battery swap and still had issues. This was the week the phone was released. Started using my hd2 chargers and have had zero issues since. In reality there are probably several issues, but this is what has worked for me.
make sure you guys turn off led notifications...kills the battery in no time
Any idea how to turn it off? Looked everywhere for that setting

When I first got my phone battery life was great. 60+ hours on 2g. When I did the first update back in june I could barely hold a day, so I turned off data completely in order to do so. Now, I thought the kj2 update would fix it, but I still have the same issues with battery performance.
My question is does updating the baseband mess with the battery calibration? Like, if I rooted (I am not) and recalibrated the battery, it should fix the problem? Thanks a lot

Question for those who have had their phones for a while.
Just got a Verizon SGS3 in New York City. Love it, but battery life sucks. Rooted the phone. Froze some things using Titanium Backup. Don't see a list here of applications that can safely be frozen. Wondering if anyone is willing to start one?
Also Looking at installing Phone Info:
Phone Info
which supposedly lets you turn LTE off which is said to increase battery life. Don't know why Verizon doesn't let you toggle 4G on and off.
Now I'm looking to unlock the bootloader and install a kernel that let's me under-clock. The phone is so fast I would think I could slow it down a bit without harm. EZ Unlock is said to easily and safely unlock the SGSIII bootloader on Verizon. At that point, I'd be looking for a modified kernel that supports under-clocking.
Anyone point the way to such a kernel or any other tips using the methods above?
Thanks
Harry

Battery life on this phone is fine, about 16-20 hrs for my daily usage. Expected about 4hrs average screen on for the battery. It's the second best behind Razor Maxx.
Stock? No way. I get about 3 hours screen, and it never lasts past about 4 pm.
I had an S2, and this is much worse. Bigger battery, but more drain somewhere. Maybe the LTE, as my S2 was not on LTE.
What is your definition of "daily usage"?

Hey all
I have a Sprint Galaxy S 6 that I just updated with an update that claimed to be to improve "battery drain".
It is losing 13% in a half hour without using the phone.
I have no apps running.
I go to settings and it seems that Google Play services is always the one that uses most of the battery.
I never got great battery life but this update seemed to make it worse.
Am I missing something big???
Any advise would be appreciated.

Probably your phone won't go into deepsleep. This is caused by wakelocks and alarms. You can fix this by rooting your phone and install powernap or factory resetting your phone & start all over again.

I would rather not root my phone... I did it with my last three phones and was more trouble than it was worth for me. The phone has all of the features that I like and I don't have a need to flash ROMS.
Any other suggestions?

In that case factory reset your phone, this will delete all of your apps and data so also the wakelocks and alarms. From then your phone will go into deepsleep and you won't lose so much juice when you don't use the phone
Hi, I'm also having battery life issues. I've factory formatted from recovery menu, but I still get battery issues. I charge my phone about 3 times a day and I don't have any significant drain according to the battery usage settings.

The same here. I have everything okay according to battery stats. But I lose like 5-8% an hour when screen doesn't work. Don't know what to do.
I basically surf the net and use WhatsApp. By early afternoon, I'm down to 60% battery. I unplug my charger at 6am everyday.
