they've been talking about vlc coming to Android for months now but I haven't heard any updates in a really long time. Has anyone heard of when its supposed to be released?
No. I do believe some people were able to build it from the git. Maybe someone can post there results.
I for one can't wait.

There was a update from one of the developer back in Feb.

"Anyway we are not ready to release a version until some months because we want something stable and nice to use"
In the past few days, I've seen that a lot of devices have started to get Lollipop ROMs, such as the 1+1, Xperia Z3, Galaxy SIII Mini, and even the SII. I am wondering, is there any developer currently working on Lollipop for the d2vzw/d2lte? If not, does anybody have any idea how to compile Lollipop for the SIII?
Been lurking around as well. Noticed that the i9300 and the i747 models (no longer unified) both have Alpha Lollipop roms in production. Currently on Moto X (First Gen) but would love to dust off the old GS3 to get an early taste of 5.0. Been looking into porting but it's well over my head, plus I don't want to be the guy who bricks his backup by trying to port an early rom build. Would love to see a thread pop up tho about a release

Carbon Rom is moving in that direction, but it will take some time to see a build I'm sure. They don't tend to release unpolished roms.. Especially on a new version of Android

Makes sense. Haven't been around the scene in a while (my Moto X is locked down tight) so I thought I'd take a peek and see if you guys were getting any Lollipop love just yet lol Thanks for the response and I look forward to what the devs push out soon!
Welp, did a bit of digging and got the rom working on my GS3 but unfortunately I have no signal (voice) but LTE is working. At this point I imagine it's a kernel issue unless someone knows otherwise. gonna do a bit more digging tonight to see if I can't fix the problem.

Any update on the build? The d2att/ATT SIII has a working build already. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/orig-development/cyanogenmod-12-t2944071
Would it be possible to compile this for the VZW SIII?

It's not safe. DO NOT flash an AT&T ROM on the Verizon variant.

Absolutely not. Only if it specifically states d2lte. This one says d2att which can and will brick your device

One of them may be updated, I'm not aware of any but I'm not always in the development forums anymore
From my CM11 S3
As the others have stated, I wouldn't recommend flashing the At&t variant even though we share similar hardware (basically the same). Since the GS3 is my backup, I tweaked their rom and it booted for me, but like I said, there is no voice/sms working even tho LTE does activate oddly. I went to the IRC to see what I needed to look into but the devs there confirmed that they are indeed working on a rom for you guys already and I know they have made better progress than me. Wasn't looking to duplicate efforts, so I said I'd just stop and wait like everyone else cuz it'll be so much safer in the end. Sorry if I got anyone hyped but legit builds are in the works by expert devs, so no worries!

Theres a VZW Lollipop ROM from Mastamoon that works pretty well. Its under his CM11.X thread though, a link on that thread is a page back or so.
Camera doesn't work, but you can download open camera from the market which works.
Edit:
Didn't realize @TheSiK1 already linked it.

CM12 official will be here soon enough. After reading a bunch of comments it's quite buggy. Personally I'm going to wait to flash it
From my CM11 S3
I'm using right now and considering, I found the first 4.4.4 ROMs much bugger than this one. Using it as a daily driver. Home button only works after screen is unlocked. Can't wake phone using home button.

If its buggier than CM11 how come the home button doesn't work properly? Sounds like a bug to me, this is a good reason why a lot of people don't test things out until the bugs are worked out

The build, at least for me, has been pretty great so far. The home button does in fact work, you just can't wake the phone with the home button. But I understand that people need something very stable to use, but I'm OK with a few bugs.
A Few months ago, OPO and Cyanogen, said 90 days after the official Lollipop release from Google, the OnePlus One OS would get the big Lollipop date. So that puts it end of Jan / early Feb. But is that still on track of happening ?
But...with the all the news lately of Cyanogen and OPO not getting along, and the whole India deal, etc...
What will OPO official release as far as the Lollipop update ? Will there still be a CM12S made specific for the OnePlus by Cyanogen ? Or will OPO just release their in house Lollipop ROM they made themselves without CM ?
The last I read, there is a big update coming in January, which would presumably be CM12S Lollipop. OnePlus also has announced that they are on the verge of releasing their own, house built ROM, so it's possible that is also coming in that time frame.

There's not much point in asking that here, nobody here can answer the question properly. Plus, even if CM were reading here, they don't respond to requests for ETA's.

Not really asking for an ETA. I know they both said 90 days after Lollipop code release.
But my question is more about if it will even come at all now ? Due to the rocky relationship between OPO + Cyanogen.

Yeah but unfortunately the answer remains the same; nobody here knows, we can only speculate. The only people who know are CM, and they won't comment on it. There's the "big" update coming in January but I'm not putting any money on it being 5.0, they haven't even hinted to that.
As with everything when it comes to ROMs/Kernels/OTAs... no one knows and employees don't release release dates because then they'll feel pressured that they'll NEED to have it done.
Would you rather have a rushed release with bugs causing your phone not to work properly? Especially if its a person who does not involve themselves with rooting/flashing?
Or would you rather have a release where it works and is tested thoroughly.
If you can't wait, try a Lollipop ROM. If you want to stay as close to stock as possible, flash CM12.
I am not asking for a specific CM12S release date.
This thread is more about asking if there will even be a CM12S released period, ever ? With all the recent bad press between OPO and Cyanogen. I am worried there might not ever be an official OnePlus One CM12S OS release at all now in a couple months ?

That is specific to the market of India. I'm sure that oneplus and cyanogen have a contract that they need to abide by otherwise therell be lawsuits.
I wouldn't worry about it, I'm sure there will be a cm12s. When? Don't know.
If you can't wait, flash cm12 unofficial. Now if we talk about the oneplus two (or whatever they plan on calling it, I wouldn't be surprised if they did abandon CyanogenMod in favor of their own rom.)

For the OnePlus One, you're darn right there will be lawsuits if we don't keep getting CM branded official updates. That was what the phone was marketed as, printed with Cyanogen branding, and I as a customer bought it for. If they abandon CM branded official upgrades, I'd be forced to kick off or join a class action lawsuit against both OnePlus and Cyanogen. I won't tolerate bait and switch.
maybe in february
They are suppose to deliver CM12s in Jan(this month) ..at least at the very end, it's the 90 days they promised us. Feb is too late as it won't be 90 days but more
Don't promise if you can't deliver, also I'd like a pure android experience as a second option, something as pure as it can get(it performs better on benches ..at least their alpha version from what I've seen)

There's very little difference except CM11S has the fancy lockscreen and camera. CM11 receives nightly updates whereas CM11S received periodic updates.

Yeah it confuses me why people still beg for the same product with an S attached to it as it will make things better for them. This phone is a developer type of phone for people who will try rooting and flashing. With the recent updates in CM getting closer to stable why do we care about an 11s.
Also lets be honest if we do not have all the proper working features in a nightly you cant expect to see a stable release.... At least a 12M or something has to be put out for our phones too me before we say an 12S
@Zorachus - step back and think for a second why are you asking your question. No one associated with giving you an answer will come here and give it to you. You can Google it and see whats out there and draw your own conclusion. I feel this is what others were trying to get across to you. You are asking a question that can't be answered no matter how you slice it up

Because for some people it's a matter of principle. CM stated very clearly that this device would receive official updates for two years, if the S branch is dropped they're reneging on that agreement.
Because this isn't strictly a dev phone, this is a developer-friendly phone. Not everyone wants to unlock and root their device, in fact the majority of the user base most likely don't want to. So if support is dropped then those people are left with a device that isn't receiving the updates it was promised to have, those people have a right to expect those updates.

But I do know what I see...
That being a Lack of any NEW or UPDATED rom in quite some time. I believe it was posted in early December that weeklies and officials were coming soon. It's now almost the middle of April.
FYI, its been a week since your post...still nothing new.
I'll be one of the first to congratulate you and your team when a new official build comes out. Your product is good, I like it a lot, it's just the continued excuses and delays that make the whole thing look bad.
Unfortunately the issues with the N5 version of SlimLP persist.
For those looking for a very comparable, updated ROM, check out the ROM team Chroma has under development in the XDA N5 development page.
Motorola has finally started the Nougat soak test in Brazil. Let's hope it won't take too long for them to release the final version. However, the screenshots say it's Android 7.0 and not 7.1. Update 2: Android Headlines reports Moto X Style Is Receiving Android 7.0 Nougat In India
Update 3: Moto X Style and X Pure Nougat update spotted on GFXBench (Yes, again. The last time it was spotted on 7.1 was in last week of December.)
Update 4: A user on reddit who is located near Chicago states he received the Nougat update.
Soak test is going on in India also.
This is a good news !!!!!!
soak test is only available for limited users and if anyone who will break their rules will be out of the soak test permanently so don't expect that someone might just end up sharing the files !! all we need to do is just wait for that moment when it gets as stable as a daily driver and we all are good to go
its most likely 7.0 but i hope we get a 7.1.1 or 7.1.2
Why not get it now?
Google "AICP clark"
I've been running it since Dec 2015 on Republic Wireless with no problems.
I got bored waiting for official nougat and went to AICP 7.1
It's pretty good, can't see myself going back to stock tbh

Even on this forum not everyone is interested with custom roms. I used to mod my phones a lot but thoose were crapy low end devices and custom roms were really adding some performance but with this phone I don't see a reason to install custom rom. Even on my old moto e I went back to stock after trying few roms, moto software is really well made imo, so it's sad that their updates are way slower than they used to be and that they relase already obsolete software ;\.
btw from my expierience there is always something broken in custom roms, and if it's not broken now it will be in next relase xd

I'm with you here. I have no desire leave the stock ROM for any reason other than updates. It's been bug-free and smooth sailing for me with Motorola's software ever since 2015, no doubt because they stick to AOSP.
The only way I'd be interested in a custom ROM is if the developers were on a very long release cycle where they spent months ironing out every tiny bug before tinkering with new things, similar to how OEMs approach stock ROMs. That seems rare these days, though I don't follow things too closely anymore. "Man this ROM is amazing... except, oh yeah, Bluetooth breaks and requires a reboot... oh, and calls drop a lot... and, uh, call volume randomly goes to max/silent for no reason... oh yeah, and MMS just doesn't show up sometimes, and the camera crashes every 3rd open requiring another reboot" seems to be the way of the world, and I don't have patience for it. Putting up with random bugs can be worth it if it frees you from TouchWiz or Sense or LG UI, but when the stock ROM is already AOSP and fast/fluid, I don't see the point.
http://www.androidauthority.com/moto-x-style-pure-edition-nougat-758023/
I have to agree that stock rooted ROMs are my way of going now. Of course that also means I won't buy from makes like Samsung who overburden their ROMs with too much frill. Besides, with manufactures like one plus, the is really no reason to revert.

Honestly, a while... It usually goes Brazil, India, Europe, then US and UK (sometimes US/UK flip-flop). To be honest, Lenovo doesn't see the US as a major market, these phones are not carrier subsidized so their market penetration is minimal at best. US is always the last to get Moto (Lenovo) updates in the last 12-18 months. Not likely to see that change anytime soon. Each region will have it's own beta if history repeats, we are at minimum 2-3 months out in the US.
