Hello,
I was wondering if anyone is experiencing this weird hang up. When I try to make calls, it automatically ends my call without any rings. I keep trying to call and it keeps ending right after it dials.
I had to restart my phone to finally get it to work. It has happened twice to me now.
Same exact issue here. Rebooting sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Tried uninstalling Google Voice, same issue. Annoying as heck.
Same issue here, on T-Mobile. I exchanged my original phone because I was having radio issues (phone would not connect to the mobile network), but this problem seems to have carried over. Phone is set to use WiFi calling, I'm wondering if there is a handover issue when I leave my home wireless network.
I'm on T-Mobile as well, in north Dallas area. I do not have mine set to do WiFi calling, as it is guaranteed to drop your call when you leave your house (happens every time to me, so now I don't bother with WiFi calling).
This instant "Call Ended" issue is separate.
Yup, happened to me earlier, i had to turn the phone off for 15 minutes. Im on t-mobile
Solution!
I believe I have figured out how to fix this. Go into Settings, then More..., then make sure Wi-Fi Calling is on, then click on Wi-Fi Calling then make sure you have Cellular preferred selected. After I did this, I was able to make calls with Wi-Fi on or off. Hope this fixes yours too.
Same issue here. Call hangs up right after i hit dial. Tonight even resetting the phone twice didn't solve. Finally after 20 minutes I was able to make a call. So frustrating as I had an important conference call I needed to be on. I ended up texting a few people in the call, and my texts were successfully received, just couldn't call out. So frustrating, but comforting knowing that I am not alone. Think I might return this phone as this is the 5th time this issue has occurred and I've only had the phone for 6 days.

I have same issue. I turned off VoLTE and problem gone. Hope this helps.

Sorry, that is not a fix. I've used that configuration and still ran into the instant call ended problem. Thanks for the suggestion though.

VoLTE (voice over LTE) could actually be the problem - that is a setting that comes pre-enabled and I never disabled it. Makes sense to try disabling it and see if it happens again.
I'll report back in a couple days whether the issue happens again with VoLTE disabled.
Man I really like this phone, but the call ending and camera issue, I had to return it. Damn you sony!

The call ended issue hasn't happened to me since disabling VoLTE. Though I did get a call from my wife when she got off work, which when I swiped to answer, my phone rebooted.. that was fun.

It only happened to me once. Rebooting had no effect, but after turning off LTE everything worked. Makes sense that it would be a VoLTE issue.
you can try fiddling with the network mode settings in the more wireless/network option. the t-mobile rep. got it working again after switching the network preferences from LTE Preferred to GSM. That got calls working again. I believe I switched it back to LTE afterwards and I'm not experiencing any more problems with that error.
Same here. It was totally random as to when and how long it would automatically end calls.
VoLTE settings made no difference. Eventually the problem would return.
I just replaced it at the TMobile store.
Problem Solved!
So, I was having this same problem and reading this forum, I discover that I just need to change the network mode
Go to settings > More... > Mobile Networks > Network Mode
And it probably its marked LTE (only).. Just change it for LTE(preferred)/WCDMA/GSM
I hope it can help you
I have HTC One M7 with cm12.1 and I'm having this issue too!

This is my second G2x and both have exhibited the same behavior. It will dial a number, whether from the phonebook or the dialer itself, and the phone application will say that it is dialing. After 30 seconds or so, and no ringing on the other end of the line, the call ends itself.
I usually have to enable Airplane mode, then disable it, to be able to make a call. sometimes I have to go as far as rebooting the phone completely after which it may or may not work. Incoming calls fail as well so I am missing quite a few calls and texts...but thhe emails and other data messages come through.
Oddly, data works perfectly regardless of whether the phone is having problems calling. This happens in 2g as well as 4g. I have manually selected 2g and could not call and had the same trouble in WCDMA only mode. I thought it was related to Wifi calling but enabling that has no effect.
Any ideas? I am trying my other line to see if that SIM card is having trouble. I just have no other ideas at this point.

I used to have this problem frequently on my MT3G. Since someone else is having this problem on a different phone, I would guess that it's something software related.
Alright, it is happening on both of my lines. It might be a program that I installed so I am loading them back on one at a time to see if can determine which it is. I am looking at either Google Voice or Beautiful Widgets as likely culprits at this time but there is not certainty. I have also avoided installing Facebook and Twitter. I am able to make calls right now. I will see if this keeps working for the next few hours...maybe through to my morning coffee. I really hope it is an application, something I can do without, because it would be pretty bad if it is the phone. My girl just ordered one of these as well since she likes mine so much.

Happened to me twice today, first in the AM and then again around 2200 central time. i recently started using setcpu so not sure if thats an issue or not. anyone find the app responsible?
Yes, it has happened to me too, usually after it is in standby or idle, and this is my second phone. But my second phone not happens as often as the first one. Reboot is the only way I can get it to work. I notice that the signal is very weak only 1 or 2 bars.
That is a very good point to mention...that it is almost always directly after bringing the phone out of standby. Mine just did it again.
Same problem here. I don't even know how many calls or txts I've missed since.
Had this issue with my N1 and I always chalked it up to cruddy radio and/or coverage. I've since had it on my g2x once or maybe twice I think (had g2x for 3 days now), but at least after it timed out I was able to try again and the call would go through. With my N1 it would never recover unless I toggled airplane mode or sometimes even needed to reboot.
I hope there are some improvements in this area, because bad radio was my biggest gripe with my N1, and i really want to love this phone!

I just realized that wifi calling works. I also just called t-Mobile and after 30 minutes of diagnostics they told me that there is a network outage for new activations. Since it took them so long to figure out there is a network outage, I think they are full of it.
Are you still having this issue?
My wife just emailed me saying she was trying to call me but the call wasn't going through.
I was immediately getting calls when I changed my SIM yesterday...

When I first turned the phone on and called to activate my new SIM, tmobile made a test phone call to my new phone and everything worked fine. But now that I think about it, I think wi-fi calling was active at the time. I haven't received any calls today so not sure if the issue is still there.
This happened to me when switching telco, I got a SMS from new operator with a date but no time when my number would be ported. On that day I could make calls and send SMS but not get any calls. Turns out my number had been ported to new telco without me realizing this (I was still using my old SIM since it seemed to work to me.) After changing to new SIM everything was fine. All of this was on a desire though so might not apply to you ofc

Calls not coming through - possible solution
I had this problem when I first got it.
First under settings->call->Use Internet calling - make sure you select Only for Internet calls.
Now go to wifi and make sure you are connected to a Wi-Fi network - then click the More menu listed under Mobil Network (three dots). If you have wifi calling enabled, go to Wi-Fi Calling Settings->Connection Preferences and select Cellular Preferred - otherwise you won't be able to make calls when not near a Wi-Fi.
Hope this helps - it took me forever to track it down!

The problem is i can make calls, just can't receive them. I don't think it's the phone as when people call me it goes to an automated message saying i'm not on the network. Even my voicemail doesn't work.
Ok. This is very strange. It's happening on both of my One S phones. It's possible it only started after the OTA update.
When wifi is on and wifi calling is enabled, the airplane mode setting goes into a state where it says it's "turning off" and the on/off button is diabled.
When it's like that, I can not send MMS with Go SMS (I can send with stock messenger during that time).
If I turn wifi calling off, airplane mode goes into off and I can send MMS with Go SMS.
I know the OTA had something to do with a wifi calling fix, but I think they broke something.
It's like when wifi calling is on, it's disabling the ability for mobile data to come on to perform functions that are not done over wifi (i.e. MMS).

It's in the settings menu, I don't have the phone at the moment, but I think you have to click the dotted line under mobile network and it's in there. Yes, wifi calling is free, but you have to call them and add a free wifi calling plan to your account.
Any further discussion, I'd ask that you start your own thread.
Anyone able to confirm my findings on the issue I posted about and any thoughts as to what's going on?
I cannot exactly verify what you are experiencing, but I use GoSMS and I have always had trouble with it and wifi. But I do think it had gotten worse since the update.
In my situation when I boot the phone art home (where I have no signal and a fixed, auto wifi connection), wifi calling isn't on... Until I make a call. Then it takes about a minute to turn on and turn blue (it almost always starts out with an "invalid SIM" error). And in my situation, until wifi calling is running, my SMS is spotty. Them while it is initially on I can also send SMS. Then when it goes off again (usually if I don't make a call for about 30), at this point I cannot send SMS without a reboot.
I am running various log applications, and in reading the log enough times, I can definitely see consistent regular errors mentioning the GoSMS app. I also am pretty sure this update fixed a few things, but it also broke stole things.
You should go download a log program, and let me know of you see GoSMS errors.

How'd the screw this up so badly? It's going to be months before they push a new firmware up to fix this.

So any work arounds to get MMS to work with Go SMS w/o turning off wifi calling?
Also, I posted on the T-Mobile forums here:
http://support.t-mobile.com/message/148722
Maybe some of you can jump in here and voice your complaints too?
I was able to get HTC to escalate to a tier 2 tech who was very vigilant with trying to reach me to discuss the issue.
After detailing exactly what's happening, he commented that he say some other reports of this issue and something about a youtube video detailing it as well. Said he'd look into it further.
The next day, he called back saying they confirmed it's a bug and it would be fixed in the next maintenance release, but had no idea when that would be.
Very happy with HTC's level of support (after the first few go arounds getting tier 1 to finally understand what I was talking about and escalate).
A T-Mobile forum rep also noted that they've reported the problem and are working on it as well.
Not much else I can do here. Hopefully there will be another software update coming in the next month or 2.
This is happening to me as well. Like you all, when I called Tmobile to ask them about it, they said both the signal fluctuating problem and the random airplane mode are known problems that HTC "is working on a fix for. I guess the pro is that this has been a pretty big phone for both HTC and Tmobile, right? So I'll be optimistic about a fix. OTOH, can I assume this isn't a problem in the ROMs?
Well I hate to disappoint, but this isn't just a HTC problem, I am on the Galaxy SIII and I am experiencing the exact same issue. I'm not sure if T-Mobile uses their own programmers to code the wifi calling and functions, and then just submits it to the manufacturer to add in or what, but there is definitely an issue here.

Maybe that's not a bad thing then. Perhaps an update to the wifi calling app is all that's needed to fix? That certainly would be a lot easier than needing new firmware.
Are you having the exact same issue?
Here is a quote off some research I've done:
It could be done technically. AFAIK all communication between MMS enabled components is done via standard TCP/IP. But in a regular provider setup the MMS store and forward server(s) (MMSC) are only reachable via the providers network. That's why you can not send and receive MMS via WiFi.
It's also the reason why you can not make a call and send/receive an MMS simultaneously when you have only 2G (GPRS/EDGE) connectivity.
Normally android will drop the GSM data connection if there is WiFi connectivity and all data will be routed through the WiFi interface, but there is one exception: The MMS traffic will still go through the mobile data connection.
Click to collapse
So normally, if you are connected to WIFI and send an MMS, it triggers your phone to open up the data connection with your carrier just long enough to send your MMS. With TMobile, there is something in the programming that is stopping our phones from doing so. However, this seems more of a GoSMS issue now because the stock messaging apps does perform this function fine.
I'm seeing this problem as well, but the other issue with WiFi calling for me is that it doesn't do touch tone automated systems well at all. Such as voicemail. It straight up doesn't recognise my password input at all unless WiFi calling is off.

I owned the ONE S before the SIII and had the same issue -- It will record your password, you just need to type it a lot slower than normal. I would suggest setting up visual voicemail, or downloading a visual voicemail app like Youmail.
I can do everything else on it. Text, Place calls, receive text and emails, surf the web. It won't ring calls are going to voicemail. I got a replacement phone from best buy. I have spent 2+ hours with sprint CS resetting and upgrading everything. I'm coming from a S4 that has been wiped.
Has anyone else had this issue? Fix?
Thanks

It resets the provisioning on the phone and forces it to re-download the activation settings. Aka kinda like a re-provision.
I'm having the same problem, but only when connected to LTE. Have you tried turning off LTE and seeing if you can get calls? Maybe we have the same issue with our phones/area.
same issue
It's been a while so I assume you resolved the issue.
I have the same issue. Switch to CDMA fixes the issue but then I have no LTE. tried the phone reprovision code. It worked but then stopped working after 1 call.
Same stupid issue
I have this issue and would really appreciate it if someone could share the secret to getting incoming calls.
Issue is with the service provider. In my case Sprint. Turning off Wi-Fi calling and Wi-Fi helps but CDMA only mode for places where there's only 1 to 2 bars for LTE Spark is the solution for now. Call up your provider and let them know about your issue.
Using the device on T-Mobile. Sometimes I'll just get a voice mail notification - without the phone ever ringing. Tested from a desk phone, and sure enough it goes right to voice mail without ever ringing. If I make a call outbound from the Zenfone 6, it will always work. Then I'm able to receive calls for an unknown amount of time. I can reboot and get calls after the reboot, but they will eventually randomly stop.
SMS also come though delayed by hours. For instance someone sends a SMS my way at 2pm, I'll get it at about 4pm. If I send a SMS out bound, I then instantly get all the inbound ones.
Anyone know if I need to whitelist something in battery optimization? So far the Zenfone isn't really good at being a phone. - great at everything else though.
Check your apn settings I think I had to update the default to whatever BYOD APN settings are for T-mobile see if it helps you
Also had this issue on T-Mobile. If APN settings don't fix it, I'd go to Auto-start Manager in Settings > Battery > PowerMaster and allow your messaging apps to run.
For me, I'd get SMS messages only when my screen was on, and some weren't received from contacts, like it shuts the apps off after not using them.
Same here. I'm about to switch providers because of this. What rom are y'all using? I'm on LineageOS 16. @wreid23 can you post your APN settings?
Tried unoptimizing all the messaging related apps, no effect.

This is extremely strange since this phone is not even Wi-Fi calling certified and it's not even a feature. This has been my biggest issue with the phone so far because you never know if you miss a really important call.

Asus denies the phone could be the problem (despite the phone obviously being the only variable). I replied to that thread anyway, with my experience of similar lost calls on a Moto x4 with Wi-Fi calling enabled. Maybe it'll give some engineer at Asus a push in the right direction...

I'm having the issue with T-Mobile 7T Pro, when I got the permanent unlock approval and switched to Mint Mobile sim is when calls went to voice mail, have you found a solution yet? Phone works fine if I use T-Mobile sim, but Mint Mobile sim in the 7T Pro is when the calls go to voice mail and text don't go out, if I put the Mint mobile sim into a Pixel XL all is fine. When I had to quit Mint Mobile becasue of this and go back to T-Mobile on prepaid again, all worked well.
The zenfone 6 is getting volte with the android 11 update so hopefully that fixes this issue
