Now that root is achieved. Suggest good root apps!

My current favorites are:
Root explorer (pretty self explanatory)
Barnacle wifi tether (finally wifi tether is possible!)
PicMe (Take screenshots of your phone via web-browser)
SetCPU (erm, not sure if this is actually doing anything but I really liked it on my magic .)
Titanium Backup (Backup all your apps + settings - the settings being the kickass part .)
That is all ^^;

Adfree ( blocks ads from browser and apps!)

If you follow the new root method, titanium backup will work - but you'll probably lose all of your settings and installed apps, to do so.
I think it is the best thing for you to do, to avoid problems later.
autostart - you can control what apps start and keep others from starting when you turn on the phone

2. Titanium Backup
3. Startup Auditor
4. Shoot Me

The flashing zips isnt "within" the app when you open it. Open the app and then hit the top button. This will hijack the boot process. Then press on "success" when it comes up. Then press "reboot recovery". This will reboot your phone into the hijacked recovery and allow you to do a full backup of your phone. Use the volume up/down keys to.navigate and the camera button to select. Go to backup/restore, then backup.
See my guide for more info:

Thx for stoppin by. I've actually read your guide about 20 times So I do what you said and I'm "backed up"...well, thats gotta be good, but I STILL don't see how I flash the 2.3.340deodex.zip that deodex's me.
You simply use the bootstrapper app to boot into recovery and select install zip from SD card then choose zip then navigate to the zip then select it then press yes
Got it.thx

[RECOVERY] ClockworkMod 3.0.2.5 upgrade RFS / EXT4 COMPATIBLE!!!

OK GUYS AND GIRLS, WE'VE WAITED A LONG TIME FOR THIS ONE!!!!
CWM 3.0.2.5 UPGRADE WITH RFS AND EXT4 SUPPORT!
Please note: some people have had the samsung recovery appear after this flash, and in my testing, in some circumstances, the stock kernel can actually flash back the stock recovery. Due to this, I highly recommend that anyone flashing the new cwm with this flash, please also flash my clean kernel, located here: Clean Kernel EC05 1.03d thread Also note, that the one click version of this should not have this problem, since it takes away the ability of the stock kernel to flash the samsung recovery.
http://drockstar.devphone.org/EpicTools/cwm3.0.2.5.zip
Flash this with your current ClockworkMod to be upgraded!
Notes:
* This flashes bml8 kernel only, this kernel is stripped of bloat, for minimal file size
* 3 finger boot required to enter the bml8 recovery from power off
* Key assignments: vol up/down= up/down, camera button= enter, back cap key= back
hehe: has mkasick keyboard patch, so thumbing is faster!!!
* Full restores of backups done from prior cwm versions may not be possible. Do backup and restore > advanced > {choose backup} > and selectively restore the partitions you need.
* Once new backups are performed, those backups can be restored to *either* rfs or ext4.
* Now backup and restore includes both the kernel and recovery too
* Use in conjunction with my Clean Kernel, for ROM Manager support, other kernels will soon follow suit:
Clean Kernel EC05 1.03d thread

THE COMMUNITY!!!! I HAVE FINALLY SEEN DEVS WORKING TOGETHER IN WAYS I DIDN'T THINK WERE POSSIBLE...
LET'S KEEP THIS UP, AND KNOW THAT COOPERATION BENEFITS EVERYONE!!!!
* koush: the friggin man! he compiled the recovery binary, and gave me the advice I needed to finally get dual fs support!
* Rodderik: without his initial kernel training, I never would have gotten this done at all
* tanimn: for hosting of cwm koush files in this github, and sharing experience that was genuinely helpful
* mkasick: for the keyboard sysfs patch, for faster key response
Gonna test this out now...
works great...it has been thoroughly tested great job DRockstar!
will be included in my kernel soon as well!
Works great, been testing this the last few days... will beincluded in EC05 Plus 1.2

I do have a slight problem. I booted into CWM and it's all there, but it wont let me select anything. I can scroll no problems with my keypad but when I hit enter...nothing. Hitting the home button doesn't work either.
Any thought?
Looks like it works with the vol keys and the home button on the screen. Even then it seemed to be pretty slow when I wanted to get into the backup mode. It actually showed the hat and sat there and then I pressed home again and it went to backup/restore.
Just not sure why the keyboard keys don't work.
forgot to mention... that the back soft key goes back, and not power, camera is enter

cwm 3.0.2.5 uses the edify script, so all zips that use edify, are going to be fine.
Is there anyway for this to auto convert the file system to ext4? If not its ok. Working fine for me so far.

Nice, i have been wanting to try this as well. I was never able to install it from the app.
Edit: just flashed the cwm zip and it installed with no problems. I like the new options and clean menus. I powered off and turned back on several times, and am not seeing the issue you reported in the op about booting to recovery. It boots to system every time. 3 finger boots to recovery like normal. I am currently running randomrom hawk v4. Nice work, i'll try some more functions with it throughout the day.

Can i suggest a re-name option for the acs updater app in the "manage and restore backups" section. I like how the acs app lets you immediately give the backup a custom name, but I like the ability of that "other" rom managing app to easily rename a nandrod created from the 3 finger boot.

My apologies if I'm misunderstanding, but these would then be "Odin-able" backups?

No they would not be 'Odin'able, just easily extracted using 7zip and better compression, as well as a tad faster.. but no backwards compatibility..
and as far as I'm aware any backup going back to 3.0.0.25 should work... but as always YMMV, so don't rely on it...

Try powering off using the menu option in CWM4, OP wasn't referring to any other form of power off. I tried it, and experienced the slight inconvenience he mentioned - but it was as easy as selecting "reboot system" from CWM to get back to the main system, so it's not a deal breaker.
I haven't had time or cause to test much else yet, but this looks promising

New to rooting. Applications aren't working.

Recently rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. As of now I'm running Cyanogen Mod 10. Before that I was using Cyanogen Mod 9.0. However I've experienced the same issue with both roms. My favorite apps wouldnt open. However Google play store works so I figured its not my gapps.
1) Spotify- just shows a blank screen nothing else.
2) Evernote- not able to create the database file and tells me to restart the device and make sure my memory card isn't full.
3). Lecture Note- App needs a directory at the media/shared/external storage (SD card) to store the notebook.
So just by searching the forum and not seeing much on the topic, I figured I missed something in the process.
I don't use titanium backup and neither am I familiar with it. But if I have to learn then please tell me so.
I've always wiped before flashing roms.
I know CM 10 is a nightly and all that jive but I really like it. But without apps working then it is useless for me.
Oh and not sure if this is related but every download from a hyperlink on a web page results in a download unsuccessful.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
May be try to reflash rom again latest nightly for your specific device + flash gapps jellybean not ics + full wipe after flashing those (wipe cash+wipe dalvik cash in advanced options)
If not working so try wipe data of apps you want in setting
If not so send messages to developers may be their apps not compatible with jellybean need update

Netflix
My device P5113 4.04 stock
I rooted using this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657056 but now netflix will load up, and I go to play a video and load forever then i get error 11003(note netflix works fine on my phone/ps3).
Does any body know a fix for this?
The original reason i rooted was to attempt to move the notification bar to the top (i hate it at the bottom b/c I constantly hit buttons). So i tried to do this:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/18063-move-the-status-bar/
(1) download ES File Explorer
(2) go to settings and activate root explorer and mount r/w
(3) navigate to /system/
(4) click on build.prop and select "ES Note Editor"
(5) look for the line item called "ro.sf.lcd_density=160"
(6) edit it to read "ro.sf.lcd_density=161"
(7) exit and save the file
(8) reboot
Click to collapse
and I broke android(would not boot, go only a black screen) b/c i added this to the file, because i didn't find it, so i had to reinstall.
So my other question is is there anyway to move the status/notification bar to the top? Im about to go back to stock but, i will root again if i can fix netflix.
