Pulled my bone-stock (with current OTA updates) Nexus 5 out of my pocket and the screen was already on. It was asking for an encryption password to decrypt the data on the phone. I figured it may have turned on in my pocket and the pocket movement caused too many pattern unlock attempts. I turned it off and went about my business for a bit. Now the phone won't turn on.
It does not respond to being plugged into a known working usb cable and usb charger.
It does not respond to being placed on a known Qi wireless charger (the charger does indicate a connection).
My computer recognizes it as a QHSUSB_BULK device, but cannot find/install drivers for it.
Tried every power combination of vol-/power, vol+/power, vol+-/power.
Any suggestions?
Sounds like you busted your bootloader. I guess even the secondary won't come up?(Both volume keys and power button)
secondary bootloader fix attempt
Unfortunately my phone did not respond to those combinations of power/vol buttons.

So I've got a Sensation phone that won't start. Bootloader menu can't be accessed as well. When I plug it in, the orange LED lights up, stays on for about 3 seconds, then goes off for about a second and finally lights up again and stays on permanently. Tried with a different battery - no luck. When I connect it to the pc via micro usb cable, the computer recognizes the phone (installs drivers for htc sensation). And there's something more - when I connect the charger in a completely dark room, the display backlight becomes visible. The screen doesn't light up but it also doesn't remain completely dark. It's like the screen is on but completely black.
So what can I do? Thought that the power button might be defective, so I removed the black tape over the button and short circuited the two small pins on top of the button. It didn't work. I can't fire it up through abd, because usb debugging is off. So do I have any options beside selling it on ebay or giving to a service technician?
Hi
Greetings
try this it might be your last option

Thanks for the suggestion
I haven't tried this solution yet because the problem does't seem to be a QHSUSB_DLOAD issue.
Upon connection with pc it identifies with hardware id USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0FF9&REV_0228 as a mass storage device...
I came across an Xperia E device for flashing. But its hard bricked I guess.
So far, I've tried to revive it all alternatives except for disassembling the handset.
1) Does not charge with any charger.
2) Have used different batteries.
3) Does not recognize in Flashmode or Fastboot mode
4) USB is not recognized at all.
The only hope that seems to come from this handset is,
Sensor light. This is 'not the Red Light' that comes while charging or powering on.
A small light deep in the sensor appears when doing the following actions:
1) Connecting charger with or without the battery, activates this sensor light.
2) With the battery, when I power it on, the sensor light appears till I release the power button.
3) When doing the power cycle reset option using the volume down or volume up with power button combinations, the sensor light stays till I release the power button.
So there seems no life, in this except for this faint red light in the sensor.
Any ideas?
By the way, this seems to have happened after a full reset including the internal storage using the factory settings reset option.
Device uses a custom rom.
Take Out the Battery!
Hold Volume Down!
Plug in Charger - MAKE SURE ITS FROM WALL SOCKET NOT PC!
YOU SHOULD BE IN FLASHMODE!

I got a Sony Xperia E C1505 (Rooting Status: Bootloader unlock allowed: No).
I have flashed it with free a firmware (C1505_11.3.A.2.33_CE.ftf) and made a backup of the TA partition.
Later the cellular is rebooted and does not boot again anymore, staying in a difficult state of hard bricked and the symptoms are same described by shaam_viru.
In general:
- Volume up down no response (obvious)
- Volume key down no response
- Any USB device (MTP, MSC, Flashmode) is not recognized
- The battery does not charge (wall socket was used not PC)
- Phone do not turn on with or without the battery and the adapter plugged
- Turned on with the battery or with the adapter, the device is limited to cast a faint and fuzzy flow of red light
Greetings.
same problem
I am currently facing this same problem on my device......IT happened as soon as i wiped my internal storage(factory reset including data deletion)....I was on a custom rom as well...The symptoms are the same as the first post.
If someone can help me i would be very grateful
Hello folks,
* mistake in title: I mean volume down + power
I'm having some trouble with my Samsung Galaxy S6 not responding.
I can't remember which Android version it has; it's whatever it came with in 2015, so it's Marshmallow or earlier. The phone is not rooted, not modified. I think that USB debugging is enabled.
The phone is showing a slowly blinking blue notification light.
It does not respond to pressing any of the keys, does not respond to soft reset (volume down + power), does not respond to hard reset (volume up + power + home).
When plugged into a computer via USB cable the computer does not give the option to connect to the phone.
Running "adb devices" at the (Ubuntu) command line with phone connected returns blank list of devices.
What are my options? Is there some other reset option I haven't yet tried?
Did u figure it out? I am having the same problem, thinking of changing the motherboard.
Same problem here, I wake up and the phone was dead, without touching it
It has RR OS 6.2 Android 8.1, no notification light, just nothing... Dead
This is weird, it's happening to me too, the same days...
If you find something about or see other S6 users with the same problem comment here
It is stupid answer, but leave phone for discharging battery, charge for a 15%, maybe (for quick discharge, if phone gets stuck again), and try to turn on. If it's doesn't helps, you can go to recovery and do reset.
So problem started when i dropped the phone and smashed the screen panel (i was sure when i removed the screen) however, the phone was responsive to fingerprint scanner and vibrated even when connected to my PC it showed it was connected but since the phone is locked i can't seem to access any files.
I left it overnight connected to the charger and woke up on a BEEPING sound from the device and power button didn't seem to stop the sound so what i did is power button + vol down and it stopped but now the phone is not responsive to the fingerprint and it won't vibrate.
I know that i have to order a screen (Egypt is not a supported country for repair) but is there any way to be the sure the phone is responsive to anything? I'd like to think that i am stuck on the recovery mode but since i have no screen on the phone i can't seem to exit it.
The phone is switched off due to a fall impact which caused slight movement to the battery interrupting the power. Is there any way to boot without those important keys? It's stuck on the battery charging screen when I plug in the cable and I can't think of any other way to bypass that to access recovery or download mode because if I do, I can boot the phone from either of those two using adb or fastboot commands. I can't do anything on the battery charging screen. Is there a reset pinhole or something in this phone? Is this a dead end?
Should be able to short the power switch pins, I replaced the switch in my nexus 5 ages ago and couldn't tell you which pins did what, but it's 100% possible with a small length of wire/paperclip.
Run fastboot oem off-mode-charge 0 on the bootloader the next time you can and you'll be able to turn on your nexus just by plugging it in into a computer or charger. Quite useful when your power button doesn't work.
And yes, shorting the power button is the only way you're going to turn it on, careful though.
To access the bootloader without volume down you can use adb reboot bootloader
