Hi, Im on 4.4.4 unrooted S-On, from what I heard verizon is unlocked but when I put in a Straight Talk sim it doesn't let me change the APN settings. When on the apn menu I click on Options (3 dots) and it only says "Reset to default"
I cant root or s-off yet until Sunshine 3.0 is released, is there any other work-around?

Yeah that's the problem, when I click on the 3 dots it only gives me the option to "reset to default" it won't let me add any APN

Your problem is that you are trying again to ADD APN from CDMA options, instead add from Network preference
you can not add GSM setting from CDMA options.

I had the same problem.
You have to select "LTE/legacy 3GPP multi-mode" from the preferred network list first.
Then go to GSM/UMTS Options/Network operators and select appropriate carrier.
Then input the Access Point Name as instructed at carrier website.

Hi everyone. I am new to this forum, but trying to find an answer to my problem.
I have an HTC Sensation 4G from T-mobile running 4.0. Recently started Beta testing Solavei. I put the Apn settings that they gave me in the phone. I am getting 4G data, but I can't get mms. Ivemtried several suggestions of other users, but it seems none of them are using the sensation.
I saw a thread on this forum about a file that will reset the factory T-mobile APN, but I'm not exactly sure how I would go about putting the file in and if this would help. I am not really interested in rooting the phone or developing or anything like that.
There are 2 APN's solavei gave me. One for data and one for mms. There are 2 other t-mobile APN's in the phone (data and mms). I'm worried I might need to delete the tmobile mms, but since it's 4.0 I can't use back up and restor to do it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Try this go to Setting/Mobile network/Acces Point Names and then press the menu button. When the pop up menu appears select Reset to default. Then open the T-Mobile APNs and edit those APNs to the APNs for Solavei. Make sure press the menu button and select save before you back out of the APNs. Do this for both the data APNs and the MMS APNs.
Also if Reset to defaults does not remove all other APNs then do this. Select the APNs you want to remove and then press the menu button and select either Delete APN or Discard. One of these should remove the APNs. I think if you just edit the original T-Mobile APNs your device should work properly. But you may have to remove the T-Mobile APNs all together and just creat new APNs for Solavei.
Neither of those work, because the APN's are locked ( there is a little lock next to them). Reset to default just leaves them there and they are uneditable. I already tired both. But thanks for the advise. I'll keep looking for an answer.

Have you SIM unlocked your device? Also the APNs that the device is using should have a little green dot to the right of the data APN.
Edit: I reread your first post and I think you are talking about the PG58DIAG.zip file. This file will allow you to SIM unlock your device, you must be SIM unlocked to use another carrier with your device. You can find this file in this thread here. You just need to put the file on the root of your SD card and then boot your device into the bootloader and it will automatically scan for the file and ask if you want to install the update. Just follow the on screen instructions and then follow the on screen instructions when the diagnostic starts. Here is a hint when you are done running the diagnostic you will have to pull the battery and then put it back in. Also when running the diagnostic you want to choose yes for all the options it ask if you want to do.
I unlocked it using the htcdev. Is this different? The green dot is on the solavei data APN, but there is no green dot for MMS.

Yes SIM unlock is different from unlocking your bootloader which is what HTC Dev does. When you SIM unlock the device you unlock it so it can use any SIM card from any carrier, if you do not SIM unlock it you can not use the device on any other carrier but the carrier the device was made for. The thread you linked is just for unlocking the T-Mobile APNs to try and keep them from knowing you are using your device as a mobile hotspot for other devices. It has nothing to do with unlocking APNs for use with other carriers.
Ok, thanks. I will try the instructions that you sent me. Thanks so much!

Need help with APN
Hi,
I have HTC One S under Tmobile brand.
I have unlocked it and tried ATT sim card.
I am using the Net10 sim card under tmobile service.
The APN setting is by default are for tmobile and after creating the custom APN for Net10 it goes back to tmobile.
Again the phone is unlocked but I am not able to change the APN from tmobile to net10.
When I putting the ATT sim card it works good and there is no Tmobile apn at all but as soon as I am inserting Net10 sim card the tmobile APN shoes up again.
What can I do to remove the tmobile apn permanently.
Thanks in advance
Hi guys,
I bought a locked LG G3 D850 from ebay. Than I got unlock key. Key is valid and I unlock the phone with succesfully. But if I set it on with MetroPCS simcard I get messege "Phone not allowed mm #6". And it is showing network service available but "only emmergency calls". And it is working with at&t sim card.
Before unlock I did root, twrp, stockbackup and flashed it with CARBON-5.1.1-UNOFFICIAL-20151117-0602-d850. Than I restored to stock and unlock with key.
The seller said, that the phone is not blacklisted (he called to at&t) and not stoled or any else. That was his personal phone and I got it with box. I checked IMEI on blacklists and it is clear.
What is the problem it can be? Help, please!
Problem was with MetroPCS simcard, phone works with other simcards
Try this
Dial *#197328460# then you get a menu.. Select the (1) utms > (1) debug screen > (8) phone control >(6) network lock > options (3) persosha256 off > then wait at least 30 seconds.... Then go back by pressing the menu button then select back and now you are in... Then select network lock again then choose (4) network lock initialize and wait at least one minute then reboot the phone..

This method is only known to be working on VZW M8's.
I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF SOMETHING WRONG HAPPENS TO YOUR DEVICE BY FOLLOWING THIS GUIDE!
Before proceeding ahead Just check which bands your service provider uses and note it down somewhere.
(Since there are many people out there who have asked about jio or other indian carriers, for their convinience i am writing a short note : In india Reliance Jio is using band 3,5 and 40 and airtel is using band 3 and 40. all other carriers are also using these three frequencies only i.e. 3,5 and 40. I am no longer using my verizon m8 currently i have an indian galaxy S7, but when i was using my m8 i was able to connect to band 3 using airtel, i also tried using jio but it doesn't work at least for me.)
Steps To Unlock The LTE Bands :
First of all ensure you are on stock verizon rom.(Its Really Easy to Enter Diag Mode On Stock Verizon ROM)
if not use an RUU from this thread(use the latest one.):-HERE
Install HTC Sync Manager on your PC before proceeding ahead, by putting your phone into install mode.
Now once you have flashed the ruu or you are already on stock verizon rom and also installed htc sync manager, Follow these steps :-
1. Download DFS Tool
2. Skip this step if you are using a CDMA SIM.
Put your phone into cdma mode by going into Settings>Mobile Data>Network Mode>LTE Only Mode. Enable USB debugging as well.
3. Open Phone Dialler type on the Dial Pad ##3424# and press call button. Phone Should enterr into diag mode. If you are on marshmallow firmware phone will ask for MSL code, Here it is - 000000(6 times zero).
4. connect your phone to the computer and install DFS Tool You just downloaded on your computer.
5. Optional : Create an account on this website - https://www.cdmatool.com/
6. Open DFS tool and login or just skip the login if you do not have cdmatool.com account.
7. Now you will see your m8 listed as PORTXX(X - Refers to any number between 0-9) in DFS Tool. Double click on it.
8.On the DFS Logs window you should read something like device connected.
9.Now in main DFS Window click on Band Tab, then under the bands tab you will see two tabs, HSPA and LTE click on Latter one.
10.Click Read.
11. Select the LTE bands you need.
12. Click write.
13. Restart Your Phone Once.
14 Put It Back Into GSM Mode/CDMA mode depending on your network provider.
For Stock ROM Users Only/Custom ROMs Based on Verizon stock ROM/Still Not Getting LTE
1.Download This APP
2.Then Select GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto in the App
Still not getting LTE?
Reset phone through stock recovery(4.4.X reccomended.)
Test for at least a day and then report back by either participating in the poll above or replying below.

Flashing a rom shouldn't change it. It would only change if you flashed an RUU or flashed just the firmware for the phone.

Yes it should remain as is no matter whatever ROM u flash.
As far as firmware flashing is concerned i will get back to you on that one.

You might not be having that good 4g reception in your area. That can be the most probable reason. Try using your SIM in some other 4G phone and tell if the same thing happens.
I tried this on my GSM-unlocked HTC One M8 (w official marshmallow installed), but I can't seem to get into the diag. mode. I was asked for MSL code after I type in ##3424#, but I don't have the MSL code.
Anyway to get MSL code or get by this one? Do I have to unlock the phone to do the steps as in OT? Mine is still locked and S-ON.
Your help will be very appreciated.

'##3424#' wont work on GSM M8.

Tried your code, but adb gave me the following:
system/bin/sh: can't create /sys/devices/virtual/android_usb/android0/f_diag/on: Permission denied
Does this mean I have to unlock and S-OFF my phone?
When I type in command su, it's not a valid command. I assume su means superuser? My phone isn't rooted, still S-ON.

You will need root access without that it will not be possible to enter Diag mode in your case.
If you have non-verizon m8...why dont you just unlock bootloader via HTC Dev and root your phone. Also you can root your phone with kingroot without needing to either unlock bootloader or S-Off the phone iff you are on 5.x.x or lower as far as i know(Many people having verizon M8 used kingroot to achive s-off via sunshine while they were on 5.0.1).

If you have verizon m8 then you can unlock bands without root.
You need to go to cdma mode from global mode amd then go to dial pad then ##3424# as it says above in guide........
There is no verizon gsm model but all verizon m8s have gsm built in so that they can support lte, as lte is a different technology from both cdma and gsm but based on gsm.

Per Verizon, their M8 supports LTE Band 13 / 4 (700/1700 MHz).
Has anyone had success using this method to unlock bands 2/4/12 for LTE on AT&T/T-Mobile? I'd be especially interested if anyone is successful unlocking bands 3/7/20 for use in the UK and Europe. (I have a very tentative plan to visit the UK and it would be great if I could get 4G speeds while I'm there.)

I have a carrier unlocked Note 8. I am currently running stock AT&T firmware. I am trying to figure out how to get the OTA updates on my note. If I need to add a different apn. Does anyone know which one if is? Or is there something else I need to do?
Are you in AT&T network with AT&T sim card (either postpaid or prepaid)?
You can only get OTA from AT&T network server. I know it sucks.
You can borrow AT&T sim card from friends for a few hours if you're using other carrier's sim card. Or flash XAA firmware (unlocked and unbranded).

Yes I am on AT&T network and with AT&T sim card. But I still don't receive the OTA
If you can make a call or use AT&T cellular data,
put this in your phone app: *#8736364#
Then go to Field Test mode.
Change "Device Initiated date" to one or a few minute ahead. wait until you see "SET" then press Home.
Wait until you see software update to kick it.
Try several times if it doesn't work at first.
Still doesn't work? then put your sim card in different phone and turn on for 10min then put it back in your note 8.
Try again.
For your info, my note 8 is unlocked too. And in AT&T network.

So I keep doing the same thing when window Pops up by themselves.

Yes trying but don't get prompt to update. AT&T wont help if it's a carrier unlocked phone. Did you have to change your apn at all?
borijess, if I am correct, I think you mean you have an unlocked Note 8 directly from Samsung, right? You then odin AT&T firmware so you have a SM-N950U phone now. If that is true, you will not get OTA update from AT&T. This has been discussed before. AT&T will not put your IMEI on their white list. Only phones bought directly from AT&T will have their IMEI on the white list and those are the phones that will get OTA update. Many people have tried to call AT&T to add their IMEI on the white list but to no avail. We are stuck with odin every update, sorry.

borijess, if I am correct, I think you mean you have an unlocked Note 8 directly from Samsung, right? You then odin AT&T firmware so you have a SM-N950U phone now. If that is true, you will not get OTA update from AT&T. This has been discussed before. AT&T will not put your IMEI on their white list. Only phones bought directly from AT&T will have their IMEI on the white list and those are the phones that will get OTA update. Yes unlocked from Samsung.
Unfortunately, you will not get OTA update. I have tried multiple phone calls to AT&T to put my IMEI on their white list but unsuccessful. AT&T are on that power trip to try to force customers to buy from them. My contract is up soon and will definitely switch. Anyway, I have been doing odin since I got the phone to update.

I could pull AT&T OTA update on Red Pocket (GSMA plan). Red Pocket has same MNC MCC as AT&T.

Verizon, doesn't sell phones with an unlocked bootloader. Additionally, their phones are also carrier locked until they are paid off.

i ship this to my freind in canada and its working there perfectly
Before you connect to wifi or before you install your sim card .... Enable "developer option" then go into the "developer options" and scroll down till you see
" OEM Unlocking" select it so the switch is on
or slid to the right. Then unlock your bootloader reboot .... Again before you hook up to wifi or install sim go back and enable your "Developer options" then go into dev options and select "OEM Unlocking" so that its on again. Then hook up to what ever you want. Wifi, sim, whatever. Once bootloader is unlocked it can't be locked remotely by the carrier. So you'll be good.

I'm curious if removing my SIM card and trying this will work, since I didn't find these instructions until after I got my phone. Has anyone tried this method? Like remove it, enable OEM unlocking, and then reinserting it?

No it won't work for a Verizon phone There are many dead-end "unlocking Verizon BL" threads. Your phone may already be carrier unlocked but you won't be able to BL unlock.
