Hi everyone. I am new to this forum, but trying to find an answer to my problem.
I have an HTC Sensation 4G from T-mobile running 4.0. Recently started Beta testing Solavei. I put the Apn settings that they gave me in the phone. I am getting 4G data, but I can't get mms. Ivemtried several suggestions of other users, but it seems none of them are using the sensation.
I saw a thread on this forum about a file that will reset the factory T-mobile APN, but I'm not exactly sure how I would go about putting the file in and if this would help. I am not really interested in rooting the phone or developing or anything like that.
There are 2 APN's solavei gave me. One for data and one for mms. There are 2 other t-mobile APN's in the phone (data and mms). I'm worried I might need to delete the tmobile mms, but since it's 4.0 I can't use back up and restor to do it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Try this go to Setting/Mobile network/Acces Point Names and then press the menu button. When the pop up menu appears select Reset to default. Then open the T-Mobile APNs and edit those APNs to the APNs for Solavei. Make sure press the menu button and select save before you back out of the APNs. Do this for both the data APNs and the MMS APNs.
Also if Reset to defaults does not remove all other APNs then do this. Select the APNs you want to remove and then press the menu button and select either Delete APN or Discard. One of these should remove the APNs. I think if you just edit the original T-Mobile APNs your device should work properly. But you may have to remove the T-Mobile APNs all together and just creat new APNs for Solavei.
Neither of those work, because the APN's are locked ( there is a little lock next to them). Reset to default just leaves them there and they are uneditable. I already tired both. But thanks for the advise. I'll keep looking for an answer.

Have you SIM unlocked your device? Also the APNs that the device is using should have a little green dot to the right of the data APN.
Edit: I reread your first post and I think you are talking about the PG58DIAG.zip file. This file will allow you to SIM unlock your device, you must be SIM unlocked to use another carrier with your device. You can find this file in this thread here. You just need to put the file on the root of your SD card and then boot your device into the bootloader and it will automatically scan for the file and ask if you want to install the update. Just follow the on screen instructions and then follow the on screen instructions when the diagnostic starts. Here is a hint when you are done running the diagnostic you will have to pull the battery and then put it back in. Also when running the diagnostic you want to choose yes for all the options it ask if you want to do.
I unlocked it using the htcdev. Is this different? The green dot is on the solavei data APN, but there is no green dot for MMS.

Yes SIM unlock is different from unlocking your bootloader which is what HTC Dev does. When you SIM unlock the device you unlock it so it can use any SIM card from any carrier, if you do not SIM unlock it you can not use the device on any other carrier but the carrier the device was made for. The thread you linked is just for unlocking the T-Mobile APNs to try and keep them from knowing you are using your device as a mobile hotspot for other devices. It has nothing to do with unlocking APNs for use with other carriers.
Ok, thanks. I will try the instructions that you sent me. Thanks so much!

Need help with APN
Hi,
I have HTC One S under Tmobile brand.
I have unlocked it and tried ATT sim card.
I am using the Net10 sim card under tmobile service.
The APN setting is by default are for tmobile and after creating the custom APN for Net10 it goes back to tmobile.
Again the phone is unlocked but I am not able to change the APN from tmobile to net10.
When I putting the ATT sim card it works good and there is no Tmobile apn at all but as soon as I am inserting Net10 sim card the tmobile APN shoes up again.
What can I do to remove the tmobile apn permanently.
Thanks in advance

The cdma part is already unlocked? i think the phone comes unlock but it needs to be unlocked via olipro for gsm in us
ok, i think that was the problem getting it connect to boostmobile. they keep seeing the phone as a sim sprint phone. Should i try the olipro for gsm in us unlock?

For boost cdma just goto to the phone option and turn it to cdma and make sure to remove any sim card from the phone
ok, i did that, and now i need the espt code to edit my msid information. when i hit ##3282# or ##775#, i get the unlock code screen.

umm i dont think you can edit your msid? not sure...but if you want the esn you can find it below the battery
have the meid on deck, that's fine. I just need to be able to access the msid setting this used to manually program the phone after the boostmobile csr set the meid esn of the new phone.

i think its all original cause i alredy rooted it and flash it to 6.5.1 XE
when i search network and select the correct network for my simcard it says
"Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"
and when i turn it to automatic select network it says
"Unable to connect to this newwork at this time. Please try again later"
what does that means

Hey,
I've already got my SIm Unlock code (this guide helped me get it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233513 )
However when I placed my non-TMobile Sim, I don't get the "SIM Code" popup. This phone belongs to my godfather and he's not sure if he tried entering the code too many times when he tried to use an AT&T Sim.
How can I check if its permanently locked and/or force it to bring up the Sim code popup?
I'm rooted with S-OFF but still on the stock HTC rom.
Thanks.
Edit: I've done the Diag screen to Clean S58 Data and it's still not showing up.. :-/
Edit 2: Scratch the above. I did the Clean S58 data twice, and I got signal. My godfather will love this!

Branded or unbraded doesn't mean fake or original.
Branded = it came with your sim carrier (any logo of your carrier on it?)
Unbranded= means the opposit
If you have a branded phone, you can use only the sim of your carrier unless you unlock it.
This is why I asked. Good luck!

Hello XDA-developers, I'm planning to root & load a custom OS into my phone but will my APN data get wiped?
your apn is normally loaded by default into your sim card, and rooting/flashing your phone will not erase that. however, in the unlikely case that you are unable to restore your apn, just google your carrier and apn. eg. at&t apn. or call them and ask for it.

Thanks.. But i'm still thinking whether to root & load a custom rom.
I'm trying to unlock my HTC Inspire. I already have the code but all the directions I find say "Insert a non accepted SIM & reboot" I stick in a non AT&T SIm (Straight Talk SIM), reboot & nothing happens, no prompt. Is there another way to get to the SIM network unlock prompt?
There is no need to unlock for straight talk. If you picked the att compatible sim it will automatically recognize it and work. you just have to enter the apn for data
Please post all questions in the Q & A section. Thanks! Thread moved.

Ahh, OK. Thanks. Though, I wish I would have known this before I bought my unlock code. But, it only cost me $7.50 so no biggie. I'll just save if for the future. Thanks again guys!
I unlocked my wife's HTC One S T-Mobile for Straight Talk. I have added the Straight Talk APN, however I see that it has been added but the T-Mobile MMS & Data APN are showing a locked symbol and it will not let me delete it. She can only receive text & data by using WiFi at home because of that.
Can anyone help me?
Try factory reset, in Fastboot. Atention! This erase all in your phone!
Or if you make backup, restore in recovery.
