Unlock as in unlocked bootloader? It truly depends on what android version your on?

You can only root on 4.4.2 unlocking the bootloader is no longer an option

Probably not, there is need of an exploit, but this last only for root, if you want also custom recovery you will must unlock bootloader. No chance to bring back bootloader value to initial state and never there will be.

Why not Odin back to KitKat? I do it with the S4, S5, Note 3.... it worked. Try it.
If ur on 5.1 you cant roll back ur Bootloader nor can you downgrade back to KK

Probably you can only downgrade to MM, in any case you can try downgrading to KK and see if it's possible, if not then have MM stock ready...

Soft brick, you'll need to reflash stock MM.
Just do some more homework in the S5 thread before you're doing anything. Don't take my words as guaranteed!

They most definitely will not unlock a bootloader after locking it in the first place.
