Hi guys, I've found a thread to do the resizing the partitions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192061
Since after ICS, the cache partition doesn't used to do anything at all, why not converting it to become part of the /data partition?
So, just a question here, is this possible?
Your answers are much appreciated

Hello,
I want to boot the stock ROM from the SD Card. So i must know the Size from the /data, /system, /cache... Partitions.
Did someone know how big they are?
I need to format the partition with ext2 or ext4?
And should i also try the CM10 Build?
Thanks,
My A700 is bricket so that is my only Chance to get it Work.

Sorry for my English...
No one?
If someone has the Root Explorer you can see it beside "installed as r/o (r/w)"

Hey guys
Recently I've got a ZTE V970M (MT6577) phone and so far it's awesome. However, some people have been asking for a way to extend the /data partition because some games are heavy 'n stuff. That's alright.
There is a method which resizes the partitions by altering the MBR on the EMMC and that way the /data partition ends up with 2GB (from [email protected]) + 512MB (the assigned for /data), but I want to do something different, without having to edit the MBR that way. Dunno, it's fishy imo.
My idea was to format [email protected] (which comes in vfat) as ext4 and then editing init.rc and change the partition mount points from [email protected] to [email protected]
If I do that without formatting, the phone boots but it asks for an encryption key. Reading on the net, it's not asking for an encryption key, it's the fallback mode for when it can't mount the /data partition and then it believes it's encrypted, but it isn't.
If I format the [email protected] to ext4 (mke2fs -T ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p6), parted shows it's on ext4 and all that shiz, but the phone seems to disconnect itself from ADB once it finishes booting, and hangs in bootloop. Since I can't ADB it, I don't know wtf is going on with the phone. Something tells me I'm close to reaching the goal though.
Looking on the net I found this useful link -> http://blog.kangkang.org/index.php/archives/242 which talks about extending /data the way I want to do (for the Tegra2 one, but it shouldn't matter). However, Chinese isn't my main or secondary language (lol) and google translate does an horrible job at translating it.
So, anyone got ideas on how to extend such partition? I just want to swap the normal /data partition with the internal SDcard partition, so in theory if I format it to ext4 and swap the mount points it should work, it's just a swap, but why it isn't?
Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I hate bumping but, nobody yet? I've seen this being done in other phones... any ideas?
I can't believe no one has an idea yet... come on, this is XDA... wtf is up?
Yeah, I wanna know this too. If formatting the EMMC on my Note1 to anything other that the FAT32 will help?
Hey guys, i'm running CWM recovery v6.0.4.7. In the recovery, i see many partitions under 'Mounts and storage' like:-
/boot
/system
/cache
/data
/persist
/firmware
/sns
/data and /data/media (/sd card)
Would someone care to explain what's inside these partitions and what are the risks if i format them ? Also can someone explain which all partitions are changed when i flash a ROM/kernel etc ?? Thankyou :good:
Hi there,
This thread here ( [REF] CWM - Clockworkmode menu options & Partitions– GENERAL KNOWLEDGE) gives you a lot of the information you are looking for. Though this is in the S2 section the principles are all the same so you can ask questions in that thread.
NO hope there
That thread was last updated in May. And i only want to know about /persist, /firmware, /sns more importantly, which i searched everywhere but could'nt find. Any help would be appreciated

I would suggest asking in the thread linked above.
Also asking here may be useful: Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Please keep in mind also that the partitions you are talking about are extremely important to the device, messing with these areas could lead to irreversible damage.
Yes i do understand that these partitions are vital for the proper functioning of my phone. But i would love to know which all partitions are changed when i flash a ROM. For eg: I formatted /boot partition once, but flashing a custom ROM immediately restored the necessary files and i was up and running again. Only later did i discover while reading a post that /boot partition consisted of the kernel and the RAMDISK, which is included in every ROM zip file.
Thank you and thread closed!
Hey guys
I made a mistake and wiped the internal storage of a Moto G.
I already dumped the userdata partition to an image file but I fail to find an application that says it supports F2FS.
Do you know any apps I could use?
Thanks
Hello, I am interested to know if it is possible to successfully shrink /data partition in twrp recovery and make it accessible as an sd card in the rom, also if it is possible to make it survive an internal storage wipe. I would like to use that as a partition for backup files and flashable zips. Is it possible to complete the procedure without having to lose internal storage?
hi buddy, this is 2018, i guess you query was valid if you had made same post in 2010.. secondly /data partition is unified with /sdcard so your question is not valid at this date
Ok, I see, well thanks for the help anyways, cheers, the devs may delete this thread now.
