Interesting ROM!
I have some questions:
I'm on a LPX13D based ROM.
Sooo, is it enough to do a dirty flash if I want to install your ROM over that?
And if I want to try the Nexus 6 apps, I should download the n6_app_privapp_dump.7z file?
Am I right?
And I see your ROM has the latest Franco kernel! It's amazing!!
Good luck for this ROM!

- You can easily do a dirty flash from your stock LPX13D, the script automatically performs a wipe cache and Dalvik.
- Many of the gapps have already been updated in material version on playstore , only a few will need to flash it from recovery or copy it to the system folder app. By tomorrow add convenient zip for Nexus 6 gapps not in playstore . The discussion is under construction I intend to do a good job and provide adequate support for alla users.
Thanks...!!!

Well, I'm gonna try your ROM and do a dirty flash. I'm very excited about this

Thank you!!!

Testing now, everything runs fine, seems good

I'm going to create update.zip to update the rom when I make small changes to make sure that you do not have to download the whole ROM every time. Of course also put the full version ...
Now I'm going to sleep, I awake from yesterday, in Italy is 3:33 pm ..... almost 24 hours a day online for work-related reasons. Whatever you need we will reply when I wake up.

Sleep well

Well, I tested this ROM very hard today.
It is buttery smooth and full stable!
Battery life is perfect for me. My 4G signal is quite poor, so I was on wifi, was browsing with Chrome Beta about an hour, hardly played with Asphalt 8 and Modern Combat 5 for 20-20 minutes, used Tapatalk and Google+. Sync is on, Google Now is on. I've got almost 2.5 hour SOT and I'm still at 48 percent!
Great work @daniel84cs!

Thanks I am very happy that you like it I will try to improve it even more, I can not wait to come out lollipop in the final version, then they start the games. Obviously I can not wait to come out the Nexus 6, but will develop for both, my work is just beginning, not released public release from the Note 2 time, but I never put the ROM on xda because I had a lot of time, but me the most important thing is to always be on your side and to share with you my passion.

Does root work in this?

The full ROM is not prerooted for my choice, being simply flash the ROM and Supersu.
I'd rather not create prerooted because some members had expressed the desire to have the franco kernel, NoADS without root. But I leave it to you to decide.
Do you want to be prerooted the next full rom.....???

Yeah.. Please make the ROM prerooted.

Let's see how many people prefer prerooted, answer with +1 or -1. Based on the membership will assess the prerooted version.

Do you think that restoring apps from titanium backup (i'm on purity 4.4.4) could lead to any stability issue?

No problem you can restore it.......use the latest tanium backup beta for L preview......search it on twitter..

+1. but still wouldn't mind unrooted since we can easily flash supersu.

For those who use titanium backup the latest beta improves compatibility with lollipop.

Perfect Android is a redistribution of the Android Open Source Project and Google software code that I have lightly modified to make as a daily driver for myself that I'm sharing with the community. This project doesn't have and won't focus on adding a ton of features and mods but instead focus on stability, and reliability so yes basically this is a stock like rom but not just stock my only efforts will be to make it run better, and be more polished, and complete.

This ROM is basically like a stock rom of jelly bean so there is not a need for screen shots ........
Always remember that XDA started out as a great place and will remain a great place as long as we are great to each other anything used in this ROM is available upon request and feel free to use this as a base rom for any other project my ROM is un-branded just give me some mention .......

Can you have some screenshots?
yep its uploaded
it looks just like stock I built it to be at least as good as what you get from google if everything is working correctly that is when I will begin modifying but for now it looks like the stock ROM so I didn't think screenshots would be needed
first of all you have to give us changelog, then i'll flash it, because now i don't know exactly what are the differences between Your rom and stock, so is it worth flash it?

I not making any claims with this ROM I just sharing it if you use it fine if not fine, I don't get into the whole screenshots large claims huge changelog thing I just post and share I also maintain this ROM for the Sprint Galaxy Nexus which it has done just fine so if you want you can do a search here and see what and where I come from .......
I'm very happy when see any new rom in N7 development, because nexus need fresh look from developers, so i was thinking that You could push some new tweaks into ours devices. Almost all roms here are just "cleaned" or "minimalistic" or "performanced" in real these rom are almost stock with the same user experience. So do not get angry when I want to know if there will be something more here...
Does it work with twrp?
After flash with twrp, I see the information is Android 4.2 JOP40C. I dont know whether it is flashed or not?
I will happily try your rom to see how it compares to CleanRom, give my feedback tomorrow

I'm not getting angry with you in fact I agree however, regardless of how you feel about those roms someone still put that effort into them. Honestly for me the N7 is a new device and before I go making claims that my ROM can start your car and end world hunger I want to make sure that it at least meets stock standards. AOSP has done a lot of work to somewhat remove google entries in their code so it has taken me a few days to re-build AOSP code to work correctly with G-APPS and other Google code I do NOT claim to be an over the top developer I just do this as a pastime I have certain things that I do not like and thats why I have started making my own ROMs so that I always get what I want. Now I can tell you this and I know this as a fact THIS IS NOT A WINZIP KITCHEN ROM IT IS BUILT FROM SOURCE it took hella work to get it up to a win zip ROM and thats where we're at so far lol. When I learn all the changes to the 4.2 coding I will start to add small feature to my ROM.

Final Rooting Suggestion/Help Needed [REGARDING OTA AND GAPPS]

So I've downloaded all the stuff and made my mind to root the device.
Just some final questions..
1) I would be installing Xposed Framework on the device, will it hinder any OTA updates to the stock ROM?
2) If I install a custom ROM like CM, and then let's say Android 4.4.3 comes out... What should I do to update to the Android 4.4.3?
3) What is the need of getting Gapps when flashing a custom ROM? Aren't Gapps already present in Android?
4) Any other drawback of installing a Custom ROM?
Don't forget to search. Every thing you need to know is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47369234

Okay searching XDA is the best way to find out these answers, but I'll help you
1.) Using Xposed framework will stop you from receiving otas
2.) If you're running a custom ROM when 4.4.3 drops, all you will need to do is flash any 4.4.3 ROM that drops to update. Believe me, when it drops it won't be long before some 4.4.3 custom ROMs surface.
3.) Most custom ROMs do not include gapps. You'll need to flash those separately. Read the ops of each ROM you're interested in to find out if they're included.
4.) You have a Nexus, they're made to be rooted. Lol
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
If you're using a custom ROM though like CM, 4.4.3 doesn't really matter. Since it's a custom ROM it won't be releasing an update at the same time as google. It would be whenever CM releases their update that's based on 4.4.3. Anyone should feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though. I'm fairly new to everything as well.
I have not unlocked my bootloader.. And have many things on my device [Been Using It For Over A Month]
I have many apps, contacts, app save files [games], etc.
Will I need to re-download all the apps again? Is there any way i could preserve this data? What all can I preserve.
Also, any Custom ROM suggestion. I liked Paranoid Android, but it releases a new beta like every week... This means that I'll have to flash it again? Leading to data loss every time?

Hi,
No need to flash obviously all the new update if you don't want unless there is an important bug fixed or a new feature you want. You can dirty flash (wipe only Dalvik cache and cache partition) so you won't loose your data.

Because it turns into something like "best" rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/best-rom-kernel-threads-t2477889... And you will have 20 different suggestions depending of each users needs, it will not help you more.
You need to test by yourself, read the OP of the rom threads to see the features, issue, videos, etc... read the last pages of the rom thread for feedbacks.
So.. I just want customizations to make android fun.. Paranoid would be fine?

[Q] Give a second life to my Nexus S

Hi,
I decided to post my own topic and not in the CM11 thread, because this is probably not a CM11 issue. As you know, the Nexus S has only 512MB of RAM including video. Mine has been having quite a lot of slowdowns (apps refreshes/restarts) for the past weeks. I am wondering what I could do to help it and avoid buying a new phone (no money and I still love that phone).
However now, there are few things that I can't do anymore.
- I can't listen to BeyondPod (podcasts) and receive/send SMS in Hangout. There's not enough RAM to run both apps and even when I am listening to BeyondPod, the SMS alert might not trigger when a SMS is received. This happens in few apps here and there.
- Sometimes, someone calls me and the screen stays black so I can't answer. Again, this is due to RAM usage.
- I use SwiftKey as keyboard and it can't take 30-45 seconds to load in some apps such as Chrome.
I am running CM11 Nightlies. I usually update CM11 once per 2 weeks with the lastest Nightly available. I don't wipe the entire configs, I just upgrade. It's been a while since I've wiped everything to be honest. I probably updated CM10 to CM11 without wiping the configs. This might be one thing to try but I am not sure if it would help to regain some RAM/juice. I am running the stock kernel of CM11. I know there are few kernels with a bigmem patch, but does it really work ?
As for launcher, I am running Apex Launcher as well with SwipePad. Greenify runs in the background and hibernate pretty much every apps it can. I don't have the Greenify donation package, so it won't hibernate on the system apps.
I am wondering if wiping everything and installing a stable version of CM11 (or another lighter ROM?) would help. I would use TItanium Backup to reinstall the apps and their settings. I wouldn't use TiB to push the configs of the ROM if CM11 is reinstalled. Would a kernel or ROM with bigmem patch a good idea ?
This would probably be a temporary fix, because apps and ROMs are asking for more and more CPU/RAM these days.
Thanks for any input,
Neo.
A clean flash isn't a bad idea, just backup your rom first.. Backup your apps/ data on your SD with titanium backup and then you can just restore them.. You could try my stable v1.1 script and use Guru (CM kernel with bigmem) or Devil and you will notice the improvement.. Also the CM m9 is a very nice rom.. Happy flashing..

Thanks for your answer Setting.Out.
Before I receive your answer, I did some research on my side as well. It turns out that I have downloaded your ROM (the Farewell edition) and the cn.fyodor AOSP 4.4.3 ROM. I decided to go ahead and install the AOSP ROM instead of yours. I wanted to try AOSP instead of CM, being a CM user for the past 2-3 years. While I was satisfied with the AOSP ROM for the past day or 2, I am now unsure if I will keep it. While performances are good compared to what I was used to, I have some issues. The videos in YouTube are lagging like crazy (although videos in VLC work fine) and the audio stutter sometimes. I listen to a lot of music and each few minutes, it will stutter for a split second. I never had that issue with CM11. Also, I can't find a kernel with bigmem on AOSP. There is the marmite kernel from bedalus which seemed promising, but everyone is having FC with the Google Play Store and BLN/BLD isn't working anymore on this kernel.
How does your ROM compare with CM11 ? I know yours is CM based. Is there less "bloatwares" in yours ? CM install lots of stuff (themes, bugs reporting, etc) and I don't want that. I prefer to use the Xposed Framework instead of a ROM with multiple settings that I don't use. Having a CM based ROM would be nice to be able to flash the Guru kernel.

It basically is CM11, a little less bloated, but similar feature set.. Give it a try, you can always flash another rom if it doesn't suite you.. Slim 5.1 is another favorite of mine, if you'd like to try that one you'll need to search their thread as it wasn't a public release..

Your "Farewell edition" is Kitkat 4.4.4 or 4.4.2 ? So that I can download the appropriate Gapps. I also understand that the Gapps you provide in your thread are a minimal package, so my Nexus S doesn't run out of space (which happened to me few months ago due to the new official Gapps package).
Thanks

dirty flash over previous and playstore app can't connect to server.
Same issue with camera-mod here here. But not even a reboot helped. Can't start the camera app anymore.
I started stock-camera and switched between front and back - no problems. But the camera-mod keeps telling me that it was stopped, every time I try to start it.

now I re-flashed the camera-mod and it still doesn't work
so I got back to Open Camera and I love it

When i enabled quick boot mode in developer settings.. BOOM!!! The os crashed.. followed by bootloop.. Then i again.. Clean installed the rom. Other than that no problem. Its a very stable rom and that too for a rom in alpha stage.. Its unbelievable.. !! Good work guys!!

Im willing to try out this ROM and experience 5.1 improvements. What are things that I should look out for before flashing? Are calling, texts, camera. etc working. Is it stable *enough*
Hey i got one question
I tried flashing the rom for severak hours, but I always get this error.
E:Cannot execute binary file.
I tried dirty flash, full wipe, even flashing from a clean install of CM11.
Can anybody help me?
download link dead
hey, just wanna say your link for OPO team nocturnal rom is dead
Awesome Work!
Hats off to Team Nocturnal for an an amazing piece of work. Can't thank you enough
Everything seems to be working flawlessly on built VM12.1 - 20150410 (radio, BT, GPS, sensors, etc) and I'm already into one week of flashing this rom. No lags or FCs whatsoever. I must admit, since first introduced to custom rom flashing, I've become
somewhat a flash junkie. Sometimes, switching roms on daily basis but this rom has given me no excuse.
Just one question though. Is, 6xxmb ram usage (with only basic system apps running) considered as memory leak?
I understand it's a common issue when running Lollipop.
Thanks again guys. Looking forward to future updates. (This is already perfect but I can't help it -Never Settle!)
Missing Appops
Hi. Thanks for the ROM. Are loving it, and at very impressed. I am missing Appops though. Hand I not done something? I flashed clean, then Gaps, then SU. Using the 15th April build.
Modem
Hi,
I had an issue of not receiving texts/sms/phone calls ON wifi.
I had this issue with Temasek's build and then switched to Nocturnals and the ROM still had this issue. I ended up going over to Blisspop's thread and using a modem alpha build they listed and this fixed the issue. Just FYI because I never had a funky issue with modem's or not receiving text/phone calls on wifi. Everyone else worked fine while off of wifi.
Other than that, I've played around with the ROM and it truly is a great experience with smoothness, now I'll be checking out that battery life!
Thanks team.

[ROM] [5.1.1_r1] [Grouper]Lustrous Lollipop for Nexus 7 (2012)

Introduction
I'm not really into writing long elaborate OP posts, so here it goes. This is an AOSP compiled, flashable ROM. This ROM is fast and smooth, it is not bloated with useless features. Lustrous ROM has features being added that make it even more useful. I put a lot of work and love into this rom, if you like it show me some support by donating!

This should be in the Nexus 7 original development forum.

I'm pretty sure it should be in Android Development though.

I thought this was the forum for Flo/Razor and the original development forum was was Grouper/Nakasi, although I may be mistaken.
EDIT: My mistake, it looks like they've changed the forums, been a while since I was last here.

Check the third post of the thread below, lots of resources for unlocking your bootloader, rooting and installing custom recoveries. Read read read and come back if you have any questions/need any help. There is also a toolkit by Wugfresh in the development section, which is pretty straight forward if you prefer.

I'm trying this one on my Nexus 7 2012. This is exactly what I was looking for (fast and lightweight).
So far performance is great! Good work!
There is some privacy guard to control app permission in the rom?

Ramping up to push out the 5.1.1_r2 update. I'm not really sure what to add, since I imagine my rom to be as close to stock as possible, with only a couple added things. I'm thinking an Advanced Power Menu.
Cool. I'm on a N7 (2012). Will I need to flash a tablet tips zip for the different dpi setting or is this already set up for that? Thanks in advance.
I would appreciate the APM. Also, does this ROM support F2FS or data and cache?

Looks very nice, does it have double tap to sleep on statusbar?
It's the only feature I need thanks!
Wow I apologies this is for n7. I must have to much going on...anyway I've installed rooted and so far loving it!
Thread closed - Source still not apparent in OP.
I'm suspending this project since there doesn't seem to be a big interest in it and I have other things to move on and do. There are plenty of other Roms for grouper. If I see a big interest spark for my ROM to return, I'll look into it. Thanks everyone!
Thanks
