[Q] Is BMM still popular? - Motorola Atrix 2

Hey guys. I have been out of the Atrix scene for awhile. I remember that BMM was the ****, but the developers abandoned the project. has it changed at all within the past year? I have been using TWRP on my other phone and I love it. Should I still use BMM or should I move on? Thanks.

No update for BMM until now, but we're still using it to install most of ROMs at this time

Oh wow really? Whats new with it?

Ok cool. And if I want to run a Kitkat on system 1 I shouldn't run the BMM play store app, correct? I've read that it tends to soft brick phones in those ROMs.

Quite the opposite. It's the only recovery app that will flash KK ROMs. Just make sure you get this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.projectlense.bootmenu.manager

Yeah I've tried that. It gave me a "Wrong BMM busybox" error and soft bricked my phone. Luckily I did a full backup and was able to bring it back. Is there a way to get it to run under KK?

You don't need to reinstall it after you flash a custom ROM because the recovery files are automatically installed. But if you just want to have the app you just open it and when it prompts you to install the recovery files, don't do it. Hit the back button and the app will function normally after that.

Ah that did the trick. As long as I pressed "back" it didn't install and give me a "wrong busybox" error. Problem solved, thanks man.

It tells you it only works for BusyBox by Stephen and whether you'd like to go on ahead and try with your currently installed variant of busybox.

It'll be a while before that. We had zero support for OMAP4 in CM, and merging it in will have to be done carefully to avoid breaking everything else. The only thing I merged in already was the bootimage-building stuff, in order to get CWM out there.

Done. You can now flash CWM from ROM Manager (and reboot into recovery, and backup, and all the neat stuff RM does) on the O3D.

sooo please tell me what going on right now, what is the state of your device, you are able to get into recovery correct? its not the stock recovery which is recovery 3e. it turns on but allot of the apps are not working. so since the signature verification failed, you are going to go to (this is assuming you have CWM NOT STOCK RECOVERY) install zip from sdcard then toggle signature verification, and try to reflash the rom you wanted and since the google play store isent working on your device you need to flash the gapps. it needs to be the version of android the rom you want to flash. (gingerbread roms dont need it but ICS and JB need it) just google gapps and look for the android version of what the rom is.

[Q] Is my Android phone dead?-- Help!

I don't want to make a really long post so I'll get straight to the point:
I own a rooted ALCATEL OT-991d. So today I was scrolling through App Manager when I saw Google Services Framework. So the thing is, after the root, my phone started having errors I didn't have before. My download notifications in the System UI from the Browser and Google Play wont vanish. I'll press clear and after a time it's all going to vanish but after a few minutes or after I open Google Play it just goes back again.
So here's the problem: I thought that Google Services Framework was the culprit (I know that was very stupid of me. Now I know what it is for) so I deleted it. Actually I hesitated and cancelled the operation but it was too late. So I tried looking the solution up, but to no avail. I downloaded 3 types of the said Framework but it wont install. I kept on getting the "Application Not Installed" Error.
So now I did a Factory Reset. So everything worked fine, except for the Setup Wizard. I was able to set the language and such but when I came to the "Set Up Google Account" part, it kept of crashing (because Google Service Framework is already gone) thus a fruitless loop. Now I can't even use my phone at all 'cause I can't bypass the freaking Setup Wizard.
Any tips? I can't buy a new phone at the moment so I'm at my wits end here.
I'm sorry for the long post and if I violated anything, it's because I'm quite new here.
My phone is on Android 2.3.6. I didn't have a chance to check the baseband etc. 'cause I never knew this would happen. But if you guys need it I can check my sister's device since we have the same phone. Thanks!
Update
Okay I found a solution..
I want to install a new ROM but I don't know how. I downloaded something like an Android 2.3.6 ROM and when I try to install it it says the signing failed blah blah. Help? Do I have to wipe the phone of its stock ROM?
Can anyone provide me with a working ROM for Alcatel OT-991d? Stock ROM's fine.
Thanks!

When it says zip verification failed its because you need to install a custom recovery like Clockworkmod or TWRP in order to flash custom ROMs
And Mate, Always do some searching before asking a question! There's already a guide on xda-developers teaching how to flash the stock ROM on Alcatel OT-991d
Anyway, I hope your phone works! Good luck

Help: Wipe+Root

Hi all.
How can I wipe my Nexus 5 so it is a plain Kit Kat 4.4.2 (like the day I received it) and just root it? it's currently in 4.4.2 and rooted, but with a lot of stuf in it too. My main concern is how to wipe once it's rooted, and how to reroot.
For those who like to read, a little more info:
I have a Nexus 5 which received 2 days ago. I come from an iPhone 5S, so... pretty newbie...
I unlocked the bootloader and rooted the device after unboxing, and have been using it since. Problems are:
1. I just found out about CWM and its capabilities, and I intend to use the backups a lot.
2. I kind of ****ed up with a couple of apps I regret installing.
3. After a backup I just did today, it asked to whether or not fix the recovery (or something like that). Selected YES, nothing happened. It then asked to fix the root... said YES and screwed it completely. I had to put SuperSu in the phone as a ZIP and manually install it again to recover my root access. It kind of looks "dirty" now, lol.
Anyways, I'd like to make a whole device backup from CWM with Kit Kat out of the box, no extra apps installed. Just rooted. Then install all my stuff, sync contacts and so on, and make another backup.
That's why I want to erase the device and have it all clean (just rooted).
Thanks!

Oh please, I know. I was just hiding my ignorance under the iOS carpet.
Will give a read to both links tomorrow. Will definitely do link1 on friday if I find the time, and will then consider either doing link2 or going the CF-Auto-Root way.
I'll let you know how this all ends.
Again, thanks!
Update:
Followed steps in link1. Everything went fine.
Gave a deep read to link2. Found it understandable and easy to do and follow, but decided to go the CF-Auto-Root way just because I had done it before and worked nicely...
Everything OK. Something weird happened -again- though. After the clean restore and root, I installed CWM and proceeded to make a backup of the plain system. After it, it asked to fix root again. I had previously said YES, which lead to a broken root, so I said NO this time. Same thing happened!! I lost root and had to manually install SuperSu 1.93 from ZIP in CWM... Why does this happen?
Anyways, I have another question. If one day I decide to restore from this backup I just made, will it be exactly as doing a complete restore following link1?
Thanks!

Oh damn it... Really? OK, a couple of quick questions:
1. Did reinstalling SuperSu leave junk in the file system?
2. Will flashing TWRP leave anything either?
My OCD would probably make me restore again if the answer to any of those questions is yes.

Stop using cwm... use twrp or philz which can turn the nag off.

Thank you very much!
I just saw that TWRP is in version 5.7.3 in the Play Store. Any reason why you linked to 2.6.3.4? I'm asking because I guess it'll update as soon as I boot. Right?

I just looked at it. I'm not sure what that is. The file I linked you to is the latest image from goo.im which is the official twrp depository.

I'll just install your file, specially if you can't even tell what that thing I linked is. Thank you jd. :good:

That's the twrp manager. Different things. One is an app and one is a recovery

Flashfire forcecloses.

I downloaded the Flashfire apk in hopes I'd be able to flash from my phone without recovery and every time I try going into the app, it instantly force closes. Has this happened to anyone else?
It's probably because your bootloader is unlocked.
Honestly though I haven't heard of this.
I'm assuming you have the latest version and that you are rooted correct?
Has it worked at all on your setup?
Have you tried factory resetting, installing, and trying?
Maybe this might help someone who is more capable of helping than I am.

Have the latest version and I'm rooted. I've tried multiple times. Ah, I guess I'll just continue trying.
No issue with stock rooted.
No good. I knew one of the last 3 updates had a force close issue on 64 bit fixed. Was hoping it was that easy. Hopefully someone else will pop in for ya

There is one thing you might try. Delete the app. Go to your root folder data/data and delete the eu.chainfire.flash folder. Download and install the app again and see if it works.

Tried your suggestion, still doesn't work. Oh well, I'll just have to wait til something else comes along that'll let me flash.

Where did you download the apk from?
What version is it?
When you say it "force closes", are you getting an error message?

Finally got it working... then I go and upgrade my phone last night. Can't even use it til a new root method comes out.
