Is it possible your model is 925 and not 920?

We need CWM so we can make a backup before trying to mess around in the system
It seems my recovery partition was messed up so again install original rom...

It'll be a while before that. We had zero support for OMAP4 in CM, and merging it in will have to be done carefully to avoid breaking everything else. The only thing I merged in already was the bootimage-building stuff, in order to get CWM out there.

Done. You can now flash CWM from ROM Manager (and reboot into recovery, and backup, and all the neat stuff RM does) on the O3D.

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but what exactly is the difference or advantage to the PSFreedom App you created?
Keep up the awesome work!
yeah.. after rebooting to try and get you that log, my phone seems to be stuck in a HTC logo -> off -> reboot -> HTC logo -> off loop, any suggestions? I can go back into recovery/hboot fine... but not my phone
@stoker25, This should not effect your normal rom in any way.

Typical recovery log shows that everything worked, although it still flagged an error.
The log is the ONLY file that my code additions write anywhere on the device other then the recovery img flashing.
I am honestly at a loss to what can cause your main rom to fail booting.
What rom do you normally run?

i was using ieftm's rooted 2.2 rom (the first one he made, it's probably outdated now), i'm thinking it might have something to do with the symlinked bootanimation, since it reboots before it shows it. gonna reflash now anyway, since i've been meaning to for a while...
can anyone upload unrEVOked for desire???
and can i use HTC sense rom?
So let me get this right, now we can have this with any rom and keep all usb usage (I'm using leedroid 2.1) within our roms? Just adds an extra menu in recovery?

[A510] CM10 UNOFFICIAL for A510 - need testers

Hi,
i'll create a more detailed thread once it's running, but my tab is at acer servicing (they did not fix it last time, forgot about the gps not working)..
I need some testers to flash this with Nothrills CWN.
It's a CM10 build based on pawtip work, and adapted to A510.
I'll not blabla you about the risk of bricking, exploding and destroying earth. you do that only if you know what you are doing

Started updating system in cwm and went to complete in a short period of time. Seems to be an early fail in the system upgrade. Wish I had more input but, seems to be an extremely quick process I'll time it, if it will help your prognosis? Please give me another shot!
Thx for all your hard work!
Here is the feedback from my friend:
Cannot boot to android, just hang there. n there is an error when doing the cwm restore.
ok, so just to understand it well, does the rom install without any trouble in CWN ? it's not clear to me if it works in your comments
then, if it's early fail, i've to work on kernel config and boot.img.
can you give a try to put another boot.img, it should not do the trick but .. let's say either the a510's original, the pawtip's a700 or the frankenrom 's one.
it's really not a comfortable situation as i'd like to test it and try to have something running, but without tab, you're my alpha-testers :/
Will try tonight...

just in addition,
can you check if adb can connect (let a adb wait-for-device or adb logcat runnning on cold boot)

No, it stuck on boot. I must have misunderstood you, I thought you(r friend) had an error msg in CWM.
I've been working on CM10 as well, but it's been a pain in the *$$
Are you using a pre built kernel or are you compiling source?
i'm compiling it
but i'd some difficulties to find what tricks might apply when compiling kernel for JB, as opposite to ICS.. did not find the difference tht might apply.
the only thing was that some jar frameworks might have to be listed twice, for CM10
i'll dig that once something boot
check out OP, new build online
feedbacks welcome
If you're coming off a different rom, make sure you're doing your full wipes before installing. You gotta clean the old data off first.

"starting services" does not stop...on boot up

Hi all , just joined xda-developers but i spend straight 14 hours trying to fix this DAMM photon q yesterday
all i got in the end is a normal boot after following this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2001108
BUT at the startup , the screen comes like for a millisecond and then this " starting services" logo doesn't go at all...it just continues forever
any help would be appreciate .
Can you explain what your setup is, and exactly what you've done to get where you are?
For example, you were bootloader official unlocked, on CWM and asa-10, etc.
Thanks.

Still doesn't tell me what you've done, what state the phone is actually in, etc.
I thought my question was pretty straightforward. Unless you provide more detail, I don't know how anyone will be able to help you.
Is this a stolen device? Why is it not qualified for the official unlock? Either way, how does that play into what's wrong with the device?
Did you have custom recovery on it? Give some details!!!

i think i am a noob at explaining things but let me try again...i don't know the exact history of this phone , my friend gave it to me yesterday and its not stolen ... he paid his insurance every month but then who know what he did... i have no idea why its not qaulified for the official unlock probably because he bought a new phone on the same line so the company deactivated this phone..
ok so when i got the phone yesterday , the bootlocker logo appeared and i was unable to do anything ...then i installed CWMrecovery and it was successfull and then i installed every possible rom available online as far as i know but same thing happened with all of them ..... successfully installed , it reboots and little square thing saying " starting services..." and then it does not go away at all ... but at the same time i am able to bring the top menu ..and go to the settings and everything from there but i can't go to home screen since ...it is black and is occupied by "starting services.."
so finally i came accross this thread for master reboot and i followed it ....i installed TWRrecovery and made backup and then restored a backup providers by that guy ... i flashed new stock recovery after that... so following his thread , he told that if all went successful ... it will return to original stock
and now i am at the same screen as previous... " starting serivces..." my friend told me he tired to root it and he messed up really bad ..so i believe there is still some old files in the internal storage from previous rom versions.... but i deleted everything......wiped, data facotry reset and then
installed a clean backup provided by the thread starter...... and everyone else had success except me ...
i hope i answered your questions if not .. i would aprreciate if you tell me what exactly you want to know ..... thanks
i also tired every US ROMS from here http://sbf.droid-developers.org/asanti_c/list.php
and all of them showed " starting services.." after i installed them from sdcard using CWMrecovery.

[Q] p920 debrand ?

Hi. Please could somebody help me. I have a UK model from orange. It's now unlocked but has orange bloatware. I have searched the forums for a debrand method but only found one, and that only works with win xp.
Is there any way to unbrand this phone with windows 7. Orange did not support this phone and it's still stuck on android 2.2.2.
Thanks in advance

*This asumes you've installed
Follow this on the official LG site: http://www.lg.com/uk/support-mobile/lg-LGP920 , and go to the tab "software update".
But instead of just updating your phone do this: Click on User/Support (above) then emergency mode, insert your IMEI and click on check
?
It didn't work i'm afraid. What's really odd is that the phone is on froyo 2.2.2 and the OTA update from the phone says there's no update available. Yet the lg update tool tells me an update is available yet after it has downloaded and about to 'install' it stops and says that the update cannot continue because a 'fatal error' has occured ?
Very odd. I'm guessing the orange bloatware is the problem. I HATE orange !
Edit. Ok, i just installed all the flashing tools to my pc (win 7) But when i open flash tool a window appears saying 'lg usb/parallel key is not detected. i'm also asked for a password and id ?

Do i really have to keep entering an image verification everytime i need to reply on my own thread ? Seems so daft.

Funnily enough i tried your method first. The flashtool kept asking for an id and password so i could not continue. Where do i find the id and password ? that was with flashtool 1.1 running on win 7
Copy the indicated file over the original as instructed or use 1.2 if you want. You also have to run the installer before using it...It might be a good idea to run it in xp sp3 compatibility mode.
dll
The link for downloading the p920 .dll file is broken. Is it available anywhere else ?
Thanks for telling me, I'll repost it...
In the mean time you could try this. It's not my link, though

Thanks drastic00. I've downloaded the link :good:
not working
I've now tried all methods and nothing works. The furthest i have got so is to hit the yellow start button on the flash tool, but the port does not become ready. I have followed all instructions to the letter.
Recheck step 1 details carefully. Be sure antivirus and Defender are off when downloading and decompressing. It won't start until drivers are installed correctly.
You should see the devices in device manager with no 'blinking' of the omap device, and LG CDMA USB SERIAL, on which you change the port number to 41. Then you are ready to flash.
That part is fiddly.

You want help with a device but you don't tell us any kind of information about your device, how smart was that? What you need and how to do it can depend on what device model number you have.

Where did this problem start? Did you cause this by modifying, attempting to root or flashing the device with something that caused this?
If so, about your only option is to use your device's flashtool to flash the stock firmware. If your device's stock firmware isn't available then you might be out of luck repairing your device. If this is the case then your only other option might be getting someone that has a device exactly like yours that is rooted and getting them to pull copies of the various .img files needed for your device then using adb shell to dd those .img files on your device. But, to be honest, I don't think this is gonna happen for you. You probably will have to take the device to a repair shop. It will probably be cheaper to just buy another tablet because the cost of repair will probably be more than what you paid for the device.

Okay not sure which Flash tool to use nor get my stock rom I dread to say but i dont think there is one available. Its a generic tablet its made by Quanta. Not sure how to put it in a download mode either I assume ADB is the only way to transfer any files.

Your device probably uses SPFlashtool or fastboot.

Its pretty easy to fix a soft bricked device , even if stock rom isnt available , any rom compatible with his device can fix the issue .

To be compatible, the ROM typically has to be ported and that usually requires the stock firmware or stock source from the device that the ROM is being ported over to. 99% of the time you can't just flash a ROM from a different model number, even if the CPU is the same, there's quite a bit more to it than that. The android operating system is built for the specific hardware it is installed on, the two devices would have to be exactly the same and have the exact same components, any differences in hardware make he firmwares incompatible.
For this particular device, I doubt the stock firmware or stock source code area available, even if it were, porting another ROM wouldn't be necessary because if it were available it could just be flashed with that instead of porting a ROM.
About the only time a ROM from a different model number can be used without any porting or edits being made is when the devices are exactly the same device just rebranded with a different "name".
But thanks for trying to tell me something that you thought I didn't know, now it seems I've told you something that you didn't know.

1.Search for your tablet's root package , download it and move it to your tablet's sd card. Then enter your recovery mode by pressing power button+ Home button+ Volume button at same time for 10sec. Once entered , go to option "apply update from sd card" and select the root package you downloaded. (CONGRATS YOU HAVE ROOTED YOUR PHONE!)
2.Search for your tablet's 'custom recovery' , download it and flash it through odin tool(pc) .
3.Final Step ! BASED ON THE RECOVERY YOU FLASHED THESE STEPS MAY DIFFER , SO REPLY ME IF YOU SUCCEED IN FLASHING CUSTOM RECOVERY

Odin is for Samsung devices, not other devices.
The device they are repairing is not a Samsung device. They have this device and a Samsung device. The issue on this device occurred while they were in the process of flashing their Samsung device.
I know you're trying to help but don't post anything unless you are absolutely certain that you know what you're talking about.
In this case, you didn't and that can easily lead to a hard bricked device because they followed your instruction.
Stick to answering questions about devices you personally have dealt with, don't go assuming that you understand someone else's device. They are all different, the methods, tricks and tools for one won't necessarily work on another.
You understand android somewhat but judging by your posts, you don't understand the differences in devices and methods. But you will after you've been here a while.

thankyou so much for the fast responses much appreciated to take your time to explain. Okay i have a question what would be the course of detailed action to preform getting any and all missing .img's it may need. Also i know its a crazy question but would i be able to preform this in store with the displayed tablet that matches mine? How difficult is something like this, and is there any other methods at all I can try to boot past this bootloader. And now that i remember correctly from reading others this happened when I upgraded to 5.1 or 5.0 thank you everybody once again!

No, you wouldn't be able to get it from a tablet in the store, it's a rather involved process that requires connecting the device to PC, it also requires rooting the device and flashing a custom recovery, and that's all before you actually get to where you can pull the files. It'll take a couple of hours,or more to do it.

The only other option is pretty risky. You can try a firmware from another device that has the same CPU and hardware as your device, you'd have to compare specs. It would have to have the same CPU, same screen resolution, same camera(front and rear), same amount of RAM, same amount of internal storage, same accelerometers, etc.. It has to have all the same components that yours has.
