just got a D6633 and when I put my SIM in I can make calls but I get no data at all (not even 3G) does anyone have any ideas?
I already verified Settings -> Wireless & Networks/More... -> Mobile networks -> Network Mode -> was set to LTE (preferred)/WCDMA/GSM
Please let me know!
Have you set APN?
It was an APN mistype as soon as I downloaded from the internet it came alive Thanks! This is my first unlocked phone not used to have to add the APN.
I'm glad you fixed the problem.

Hello, I think my phone is simlocked. I bought my nexus s from carphonewarhouse here in the UK on vodafone contract.
My vodafone simcard works fine but if I put another carrier simcard in, it says no service but I have full/good reception. Also it does not ask for a simlock unlock code!
WHen I manually choose the network it says, unable to connect to the network.
I have changed roms etc.. to stock and even tried 2.3.2 radio and the 2 new 2.3.3 radios!
Please help? I thought all nexus s works with any network?
all Nexus comes sim unlocked
if you try another network, make sure it has the correct frequencies supported
Did you try radios meant for the other carrier's network?

I couldn't find them, do u know where I can get it from? I tried all network Sims in the UK, none work except vodafone.
You probably have manually selected Vodafone in the past and the phone tries to connect to Vodafone. You have to go into settings and select 'automatic network selection' or manually select another network.
Am I the only one stoked by the timestamp on the op <.< 1337

I've tried that, it says "cannot connect to the network"
Check your APN settings (Settings, Wirelss & network, mobile networks, APN).
You might have success by manually adding the correct ones for the network you're attempting to connect to.
Are you inserting ACTIVATED SIM cards? Also does making voice calls work on it? If voice works and data doesn't, it's your APN settings that need adjustments.

Hey There,
Have a Rogers (canada) version of the I727R, I followed all the instructions to root and get SkyIceCream v7.2 up and running. Looks great but the data connection did not work after I made the updates. Wouldn't connect through the browser or market.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
APN?

Check under your mobile network settings, if you have an lte plan set your apn name to ltemobile.apn
sky cream sandwich sets your apn to the non lte apn name... And if you have an lte plan that won't work.

After you set it uo run the apn backup app for the next time you flash

I went into Network Settings and made sure the LTE option was set. But that didn't solve it. Is that what you mean by APN?
Sorry n00bish question.
Thanks

Go to Settings -> Wireless and network -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names
Do you see it set to ltemobile.apn or another server? If it's not ltemobile.apn, you'll need to add it so click the Menu button and choose new APN to add it.
I will give this a shot tonight.. Thanks!

Network Icons?
Guys, not the same issue here as my network seems to be working and connecting properly. For some reason though all network icons at the top are gone. The only think I have is the battery icon. No wifi, 4g, network, nothing.
Any thoughts?
Hello there, i just got this phone 3 weeks ago and since i have wifi i didnt test the 3g conection before. i activated a data pack and i just realized that my 3g doesnt come on at all. the screen shows 4g left side of the signal strengh but it doesnt work at all. i got at&t version. i confirmed with my carrier and i did activate data, they even helped me to set up the apn but is still not working. can you helpe me? thanks!
PD: they said they couldnt have done more because they dont support that type of device
Does it say 4G or 4G LTE? The at&t icons are a bit different I'd you're not used to them.
4G = hspa
4G LTE = LTE
So if you're getting the 4G icon you are actually getting 3G hspa speeds.

If another carrier besides AT&T, you will need to find the APN settings for your carrier and manually enter it into Settings>Mobile network settings>Access point names. Select "New APN" and enter the correct settings for your manufacturer.
The 4G icon simply means a network is present, it doesn't mean you are connected to it.
thank you for helping people. whel actualy i wouldnt mind getting 3g network access, the point is that i dont have internet access at all. i called my carrier (Claro - El salvador) and they helped me to set up the apt but is still not working. i was wondering if there is something else i could try to fix this
nevermind, i finally fixed it
Please share the fix so the information is available for anyone who might have the same problem in the future.

sorry. well, first i did master reset, once done i set up an apn (carrier provides you with this info), then went to mobile network > network operators > select automatically. once the device found the "CLARO" network i turned data on and got internet service.
Thankyou, these threads live on long after we're finished with them so it's important to have the information readily available for future troubleshooters.

I'm guessing you either had not entered the APN info exactly correctly the first time. Or also, after entering the APN you actually have to select it as the "active" one on the list of APNs (making sure it has the colored dot next to it). Maybe it did need a factory reset, but this shouldn't be necessary just to change APN.
Happy you got it figured out.
Hi, first time poster here, I have a problem. I am completely unable to send/receive phone calls after I downloaded paranoid android, and I would really like to know how to fix this.
Images are attached, except for 2 of them (size limit)
I would attach a link to the reddit thread I made, but I can't until 10 posts.
What carrier/provider? Verified APNs and you aren't using LTE only data mode?

My provider is Sprint. Not sure about APNs. I am not using LTE only data. Sprint data works, (3G and 4G) and so does WiFi.

For future reference, if you are missing your phone number like that you need to update your profile. The profile contains the programming information for the network, similar to the info that GSM based networks store on the SIM card.
I just purchased a brand new Xperia Z3 (D6603) and cannot get my LTE to work! I am on Giff Gaff
I followed instructions on how to setup the APN on this page:
https://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Settings-for-your-device/Sony-Xperia-range/ta-p/8630180#faq_no_1
Has anyone on GiffGaff in the UK managed to get their 4G to work?
If so, could you please post your APN settings here?
Thanks!

You have problay already sorted this one however just incase anybody else is looking for a solution here is a few
giffgaff internet and MMS settings are normally automatic and you should not need to do anything other than what is listed below: (Please ignore anything you have already tried)
1. Turn the mobile OFF and then Back ON again. (80% of all issues can be sorted by doing this))
2. Make sure Mobile (cellular) Data is enabled.
3. Make sure 3G or 4G is enabled.
4. Check you have credit and or a goodybag DATA plan (specific to giffgaff)
:: Dial *100*7# from the keypad*and press send - to check goodybag balance (specific to giffgaff)
:: Dial **100# from the keypad*press send - to check airtime credit*balance (specific to giffgaff)
Alternative solutions: (specific to android)
Toggle 3G/4G OFF and enable 2G instead then wait a while then toggle 3G/4G back ON
wifi is known to interfere with DATA (Internet) so turn wifi OFF
There maybe an issue with the 4G signal in the area check you can check the signal on the o2 service checker site
Reseting / factory restore and or messing with settings and tech APN stuff should be a last resort!!!!
