Looking for a recommendation for a app data syncing app that i can use to sync data with my tablet and galaxy s3, eventually ill upgrade to the s5 or wait for the s6. I do not want to have to redownload all apps on each device and do the settings because it gets annoying. I do have Helium Pro, but with the last update its extremely buggy and although i back up my app data to google drive, when i try to restore it says i have no files.. I also have Rom toolbox pro, but i wasnt sure if i back up the apk + the data from my s3 it would restore on my tablet and next phone properly.
Are apks that you download universal? Meaning if i backed it up with the app data on my s3 it would work fine if i restored on my tablet or any other device. Any recommendations on a better app sync app?
Thank you in advanced.

If I am moving to another android phone how do I back up/transfer all the data and apps? One of my friend has Atrix and we both were planning to switch phones for some time to see which one we really like.
Is there something like iTunes where I can sync up all my apps? I am not much worried about data (songs, photos etc.,) but I bought a bunch of apps which I would like to transfer them from phone to phone.
Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for the reply. Can you please help me find where "google sync" is located on my phone? When I go to Menu->Accounts&Sync->Google, there is only option to sync my books, contacts, gmail and calender.
I am very new to Android so sorry if I sound naive.

If I remember correctly as long as you log into your google account it should sync all your apps that you've bought or downloaded from Market. I could be wrong, if so some one please correct me.

When you use a google account for the Market, it will remember apps you have downloaded. It does not however save settings, preferences, cached data, etc.
I ran Android on a Fuze for over a year before upgrading to the Inspire. When Google released web access to the Market, it allowed me to track which apps are installed to which phones. When I switched phones, i jumped on my PC and clicked all the apps from the Fuze I wanted on the Inspire and Google automatically downloaded them to the phone.
If you want the apps and data backed up, you may need a product like Titanium back-up. I used it on the Fuze but since that was rooted, not sure if it will work on the Inspire with stock ROM.
or, if you're taking your sd card with you, you can use an app like app installer by gregory house to back up all of your apk files. or titanium backup does the same thing.
the market always screws me somehow. I purchased apps when I first got it only to find that it didn't remember me buying when I rooted and put on a custom rom. Even using titanium, 99% of my apps restore but I have ran into a few that won't due to licensing. When I go to the market, no record of it at all. I missed how itunes and cydia remembered everything you had. Don't miss the iphone though! lol
I use titanium backup. Works quite well.
I have quite a few apps associated with my Google account, so I selected only the ones I wanted to use on the One X. Then all of a sudden I noticed all my apps had downloaded to the phone. So I uninstalled the ones I didn't want then while I was doing this they started re downloading on their own.
I don't see any menu setting to prevent auto downloads, only auto updates, which is un checked.
Any clue why the apps are downloading on their own??
Sync
This has happened to me on just about every phone I have had. (even on custom ROMs) This leads me to believe that it is part of the data sync through your google acct. Of course, I could be wrong.
Did you have you apps and data backed up through Google from a previous Android phone?
Check under: settings -> privacy -> backup/restore

Yes by default on some android versions your apps, wifi settings, wallpaper, etc are kept on servers for backup. Maybe since 2.3 i think? I never used it and always disabled it on any custom roms since i use titanium backup. for non rooted devices it's nice though.
Could be apps that are linked from other apps. Like soundhound is in the music app. If you uninstall it, it will reinstall. As does tunedin radio
Right now I'm using AOSP messaging app off play store. I was trying to get back the samsung one for s-note integration, even though im not sure i'll ever use it. It just states it stopped working after titanium reinstall.
I'm having some trouble restoring my SMS from nexus 5 to S6. I've tried using SMS backup and it only restores a small handful of SMS. Not sure if it's an issue with my Nexus or S6. I also tried Helium, but it doesn't seem to be working on my S6.
Anyone experience this? I'm non rooted.

One of the reasons I love to root. No limitations on what apps you can use. I use Titanium Backup for this, wifi, bluetooth etc backup.
Tried Helium and ya it didnt work for me either.
I would suggest SMS Backup for non root but you already did that.
You could install a third party SMS app like Chomp SMS, GoSMS etc... as some of them have a feature to create a backup of you messages and MMS too. Then install that same app on the S6 and move the backup you made with it over to the S6, then restore. Save the backup to your cloud service then download it back to the S6., or wifi direct it to the s6, however.

Thanks for the recommendation on another 3rd party app. I'll give that a shot!! And yeah, I would root right away on my s6, but I kinda want to see how Samsung Pay plays out, and decide if it's something I'd use. Anyways, really appreciate the suggestions.
Prior to buying my Gear S3 I was a crack-flasher - always flashing new ROMs on my phone (Nexus 6). Since getting my S3, that's come to a halt because I notice the Samsung Health app does not restore data from my Samsung Account and even using Titanium Backup to backup/restore the data isn't a solution. I've noticed when I restore data through Titanium Backup, the Samsung Health app does not sync with my watch.
Anybody know of a way to do this? I'd really like to keep jumping around and experimenting with ROMs, but only if my watch can use historical data.
Go to settings of Samsung Health app, click on Samsung account and set up sync.
When you install Samsung Health on new device It should sync all data to new device.

That's the word thing. I've done all that and it backs up but doesn't seem to restore. I wonder if it restores based on device ID instead of purely the account.
When I install a new ROM, it generally creates a new device ID.

Just saw that the account is setup but auto sync wasn't enabled. I bet that's why.
