Please close thread!!!!! - Galaxy Tab 3 General

Ok, it has been brought to my attention that we cannot port android l to this tab untill we have a proper kk device tree. Thread needs to be closed for now. Hopefully we get the kk tree so we can start on Lollipop!

Although an s samsung android L would be great too, whatever works best for you guys

Yeah whatever works the best go for it, really looking forward to this

I hate to be a buzz-kill, but at this point this idea is pretty pointless.
IMO it'd be best to get a proper device tree/blobs for KK. When we have this, we can go on, but we need a proper base first.
Once we have proper KK ROMs, I honestly don't think we even need Lollipop, because our device does not have the best performance. Which is also why I think Android L ports from other devices (other than deviants of ours that is) is useless, as they will waste a lot of performance of our already weak device.
So all in all, I'd rather spend my time working on proper KK ROMs than wasting my time on Android L.
BTW, this is not development, which is why it doesn't belong into the dev section

heh heh, while read the OP I said everything that you said but out loud. My whole class was looking at me.

Moving to general for now - if you have actual development down the line, let us know, and we can move it back!

Would love to see a Android L port for this tab ^_^
Pleas Ignore these assfaces that are trying to piss off, because its not a bad idea, since Lollipop is made with ART that contains more speed than kitkat.
Hope to see a ( maybe ) test build soon

We don't have proper resources to make even a test build for our device at this time, and as laufersteppenwolf said above, we don't need it at this time, actually, we can't make it at this time, don't be in the "give me, give me" crowd(read this somewhere in other thread, I don't remember ), think and then ask

I hardly believe. Samsung hasnt officially released list of devices supported for kitkat. it is currently rolling out 4.3 for several devices.
use OmniRom until this news gets confirmed.
We shall discuss over this one. better to move this thread to General discussion thread and Rename the thread once more time.
As per Google, Any mobile company must upgrade their device at-least 1 time in its life time.
also, There is 2nd opinion where, Google said, if any device is having 512 MB Ram and 4GB internal memory - Can avail the KK if their company wants.
So, In future, If Samsung wants, then can upgrade it. But as per Link - they have nominate it. It will get KK if only God or Samsung Officials want.

ask MOD to do it on your behalf.
This is like some joke. Theres no way Samsung is bringing kitkat to galaxy R. One may think that we may get official 4.4, because it runs on even 512 mb ram. But if u know your device properly, it was never incapable of running any jelly bean version IF Samsung wanted. And if u know Samsung properly, they won't bother bringing kitkat to long lost device which no one's heard of except their owners.
Also, that cited website is not a popular one. If this was true, the news would have been all over the web. The list has S2 on it, which is big deal.
I think when they nominated devices, they meant the devices capable and not the ones Samsung chose for upgrade. That's all i wanted to say.

How does kitkat has tegra2 support!
Just out of curiosity, how does kitkat has support for tegra2. If my understanding is correct, google has stopped supporting tegra2 4.2 onwards (or is it only CM). If kitkat indeed has support for tegra2, then oneday omnirom can see a stable release version right (we only have nightlies now)?
Also the support matters only for core apps that directly run os kernel. The ones that run on dalvic vm doesn't have have to worry about this right?

Yes. It is only CM that doesn't support tegra2.
Google uses neon instructions and since tegra2 lacks neon we don't and will never have support for features depending on neon. However, there is always a workaround so we just have to adjust with the workaround provided to us. Albeit nightly, Omni is stable enough to be used as daily driver. There are few bugs but those will be fixed over time. Omni will eventually get stable someday.

[Q] Latest stable 4.x ROM for Galaxy Fit?

I know there's no such thing as a "best ROM", so I'm not going to ask for something like that.
But is there some 4.x ROM commonly accepted to be stable and recommended for Galaxy Fit?
I'd simply like to get from the 2.3.6 version to a 4.x version without any trouble...
I see that there's an Alpha version for 4.4, some unfinished 4.3 version and a couple of different 4.2.2 versions... It's absolutely unclear to me which one to take. Which one would you?
Thanks!

and flash this kernel after rom flash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50353899&postcount=71
Pls,Give me feedback about battery/stabilty after flash, thank you
a stable 4.x rom which I have experienced were
aosp #3 by #root
nd
elementary v1.8 by alin.p
use MIUI V4 caspain series ,, its the fast and bug less rom ,, i have experienced
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2543086
Thanks for all your suggestions so far!!
Right now my favorites from the suggestions are MIUI V4 and elementaryUX. Based on the comments in their threads they feel to be the most reliable.
The device that I'm going to flash is not mine so I can only do this on weekends. The most important thing is that it runs stable and smoothly afterwards. I'll decide until next weekend which of the two roms to go with and will post my results. Until then I'm still open for ideas and suggestions.
Some feedback:
I tried MIUI first but after playing around with it for half an hour I decided that it's not suitable for our case. It's way too different from a normal Android look and feel. I even didn't find the app drawer...
So I flashed elementaryUX 1.8 and liked it's usability. However in the beginning there were some problems (like touch screen didn't respond well in the upper area of the screen, and tapping quickly on delete in the keyboard closed the current app and went straight to the lock screen...), but after flashing "cm9-9.2-AOSP-kernel-Paul.zip" as amedra suggested those problems luckily went away! Initially I thought that kernel will only do some performance optimizations but apparently it's generally very important.
I still have some issues (like QuickShortcutMaker doesn't work, AFWall+ doesn't seem to work properly, I can't get rid of the brighness control bar in the notification area, etc.) but for the moment I'm happy that the operation suceeded. The device is now running Android 4.x very smoothly. We'll have to see about battery live and stability.
Big thanks to you all!

[Q] [Opinions?] Best Kitkat ROM for me?

Hello everybody, I know it's against the rules to compares ROMS and say which is best but what I want to ask you is what do you think would suit the following characteristics:
Smooth and faster than stock (all of them are but you get it)
Clean and lightweight but with cool basic features
Bugs fixed (very important, the less bugs the better)
I am looking forward to android L but I heard about the storage problems and I just want to wait until it gets "Stabler". I appreciate every developers work (olivier, varun, devious fusion... ) but I'm sure you guys have your own opinions about which one suits your needs. I just want something that I can use daily without bugs. Also a rom that doesn't have the microphone problems?
I read another thread in which paranoid android was recommended and I kinda liked it, do you recommend it?
I liked it's features but I was afraid it might slow the system down... Also what's the best (again less buggy and more updated) cyanogen version? Is varun working with free xperia? I have plenty of questions because only now I though about unlocking the bootloader...

Hi,
My advice would be to try out all ROMs and pick which suits best for you. Everyone has different taste.
I personally liked Liquid smooth with thunderzap 4.7.
Regarding Cyanogen latest version (experimental RIL version by Varun is stable. Link : https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=taoshan).
As far as I know Varun is busy with CM12 bring up on various devices and fortunately he is supporting our device :victory:
If you have questions regarding how to unlock bootloader and flash kernel/Rom please check guide in Android development section here before asking questions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/development/guide-installing-kernels-roms-xperia-l-t2548498
Hit "Thanks" if I helped.
Thanks!
Right now I know I'll be flashing thunderzap because it looks awesome
But I'm really in doubt about paranoid android or cyanogen mod.
The thing I like about cyanogen mod is that it is really clean. In other words, the developer starts everything from scratch being able to only code the essential things. I really like that in a rom. no portings or copy pasting with old sources, but again, paranoid android developer also says that he built everything from scratch. So they are both awesome. I think I'll pm devious fusion about what bugs he has knowledge in his latest build.
I have bootloader unlock not allowed but I think I know someone that can get the job done (if I'm successful I'll make a thread about it) that's why I'm not testing already. I really hope varun fixes everything in cm12 he is a great developer!
By the way which should I choose, free xperia or varun cyanogen11? Is varun working on cyanogen12?
Maybe free xperia is more updated

Free xperia (FXP) will be updated every week with upstream changes.
But it may or may not be stable.
Cyanogenmod 11 by Varun is stable version. So I would prefer Cm11.
CM12 is already out but has some minor bugs. Depends upon your usage, it may be good as daily driver.
Go for repexpersis rom

It is flashed over fxp

[Discussion] Android Nougat

Heya! So Android team already revealed the Android N's name called as Android Nougat 7.0
So this is an opinion thread about Android Nougat for Janice. Is it possible to boot it?
Share your thought below
Anything is possible with the dedicated developers working with our Janice.
Who would have thought that we would get MM for our device?

@rudra75 LOL! Thanks for sharing your thought .Since no one who interested to working MM for our Janice except ( @Epirex thank you) , I thought it's imposibble to boot Android N on our Janice but let us hope we will
well said rudra , everything is possible with dedication anyhow i just wish this phone could get a decent and stable rom since last 2 android versions weren`t that stable with janice [ S advance ] i.e LOLIPOP and MARSHMALLOW . :cyclops:
Somebody said janice "impossible" to boot since KitKat but miracle keep showing. I still hope someone continue to define as "i'm possible" for Nougat.
As DaksAnkit said, we really need "Stable" MM for the momment. If SergeyL keep on helping Epirex, I believe we will have stable CM13 soon.

Oreo Rom For Sony Xperia L

Since Android Oreo 8.0 will release in a few days
I just want to know that will the developers create a custom rom based on the new android 8
I have been using my Sony Xperia L for so many years & I have used from 4.2 to 7.1 All of it
and now I'm using the nougat rom its very stable and I like it very much
If custom Oreo is created please give me a reply .Thanks
Whoa, slow down there cowboy.
It's not even out yet - and it usually takes a couple of months for the most popular devices to start getting good ROM builds. The devs can't work that quickly; don't forget that these are not official OEM updates.
The OEMs get the source code earlier, and they have entire teams working on them. Error checking (and fixing) takes a lot less time when you have teams that big. That's why it seems like they release stable builds "right off the bat" - but in reality they've been working on them for a couple of months.
If the developers don't want to do it, they won't. If they want, they will. Don't nag them about this, and don't be ungrateful.
