Conectivity problem - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I need your help, I have installed SlimKat 8.6 weekly after having the same problem with Dirty Unicorns, and the thing is that I can't connect to the wifi I'm sharing through my network board (The pc is connected to the router with a cable and I share that connection with the network board because I can't get wifi from the living room) and my girlfriend can, with her stock Moto G. It says obtaining ip adress.. or authenticating.. but after a while it says disabled for inestability. What can I do?

I found the solution! The problem seems to be the kernel, the stock kernel or the SlimKat kernel seems to have an issue with the Wifi. I installed xperience kernel and it works awesome!
Hope this helps someone.
Bye!

Hello I'm new here
I have sasmung galaxy s plus GTI9001 device with it's official stock samsung android rom v2.3.3 and from a while I wanted to update my device to Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 so I tried 4 or 5 stable and good roms like Cynageonmod 10.1 and MIUI and Jelly Beer and TigerJB Rom..........etc but they all have this WiFi issue with my device although as I saw it in the comments and screenshots of these roms the Wifi works on them with no problems

When you install a ROM, is your WiFi Mac address listed under About Tablet > Status?

Under Settings (in your custom ROM), go to "About Tablet" then tap on "Status". Check to see if your Mac Address is listed and doesn't say "Unknown". If it is listed, then you need to check your router settings and make sure it is configured to allow communication with your device. If it is not listed, then there may be a problem with the ROM. It can usually be fixed, but you'll need to do some searching first. Just search XDA for "missing WiFi mac address" and you'll find tons of usable information.

WiFi problem. Need help badly!

Hi so I recently flashed my buddies one s with cyanogen mod and pacman ROM and the ROMs both work flawlessly other then the problem with wifi. The wifi doesn't seem to want to hold a connection. Is there a radio I can flash to get this working? He keeps complaining about the wifi dropping right after connecting. The problem only happened after I rooted and flashed his phone. Any help would be appreciated.

I have also this problem with my One S. It seems that it doesn't want to connect to all WiFi networks since WiFi doesn't work in my home but it works in my school. Someone suggested to me that the problem is bad version of wpa-supplicant binary. I didn't have this problem until I flashed CM10.2 Stable. Sometimes WiFi won't connect before I switch WiFi off and back on. Currently the only solution seems to be changing the settings of the WiFi router if possible. Make sure that WiFi channel is 11 or smaller and try changing the encryption settings.

[Q] android 4.3 and 4.4.2 wifi issues

Hi,
Since I upgraded the ROM to 4.4.2, I'm unable to find my network/WIFI router.
I have currently KatKiss-4.4.2_022 installed. Before I used 4.3 and sometimes I lost connection, but since I installed 4.4.2 I'm not able to connect on 4.3 neither (saved backup), but if I roll back to the stock ROM, I have no issues at all. Also I have no issues to find and connect to the network with laptop or with my phone (GT-I9100 with CM 10.1.3-i9100).
I did try to reinstall the ROM, tried all the regulatory domains, but none of them works. I also made changes to the router settings (channels, etc.), but no success.
Does anybody else have seen this issue? Any help appreciated.
Thanks

See if your router has mac address filtering set, or if it has a button to allow discovering or such.
MAC address won't be the same between stock and 4.4, it was already the case on katkiss 4.3 though if it was katkiss that you were using as your 4.3 rom that was working before ?
Try also to reboot your router, I've seen a few with wifi that stopped working saying that rebooting their router fixed it.
Beside that I don't really see much else, just the usual, make sure you do a full wipe, format /system and cache before flashing 4.4
in case it's something left over from other systems.
Also make sure you don't restore settings or system apps from the previous rom.

I am also having issues with wifi, but in my case it is more the distance from the router.
in the bedroom, which is just 4 meters from the router (behind 1 wall) I used to get nearly full signal wifi, after updating to 4.4.2 i get no signal at all, to be able to use the tablet I have to be 1 meter from the router. I reverted back to stock ROM but it doesn't solve the issue !!
is it some kind of internal firmware corruption, or hardware issues?
Try switching WiFi optimization off.
Basically if you go to settings then wifi and the click on menu and select advanced, then you can switch wifi optimization on and off.
On most android devices like tf101 ot lenovo k900 it helps to get a good wifi connection.

[Q] WIFI Doesn't work after update

Hi everybody,
This is my first post, I hope you can help with this serious problem.
Many days ago I decided to flash my Moto G and installed cm11 nightly, yesterday I installed an updated, when my Moto G finish the reboot I noticed that the WiFi connection didn't work, so I reboot again, I type the password carefully, then I decided to change the password of my wifi but still not working, the problem is that my Moto G recognizes Wifi networks but cannot connect them.
Today I flash a new ROM, PAC-man ROM but still not working. I try app "Wifi fix" but not fix anything.
I found some thread that explain solution but I think it works in other smartphones but not Moto G
Sorry for my basic and bad english.
It looks more like a problem with your WiFi network because reflashing the ROM did not fix the issue...This can often be caused due to low WiFi signal...Try moving into an area with a high WiFi signal and then connect

Thanks for answer but.. I'm a few centimetres from my router, the singal is excellent. I can fix the problem:
- I flash my Moto G with PAC-man ROM.
- Download Root Explorer apk
- Download WCNSS_qcom_wlan_factory_nv.bin and replace in the "persist" folder
- within this *.bin I wrote the MAC of my Moto G and the problem solved
BUT it just works with PAC-man ROM, not with cm11 ROM
WiFi works fine for me on cm11...and for most of us...So that makes me believe that it has something to do with your WiFi network...

Wifi and Hotspot are broken in CM 13/08 nightly onwards. The Wifi Bug in CM 11 is there because of the ROM. Not your fault nor your's Wifi.
Try Flashing another ROM or reverting back to any stable version where Wifi was working earlier.
Cheers
