You see it's not that big different from app drawer if you don't put widget on it
I never use it my screen is always on app drawer
Well i will use home screen if app drawer have black background
Google play even automatically make icons on home screen for you
I set auto put to home screen off and remove all apps on my home screen afterward
Then i remove widget too i don't see any point of using clock widget if there's already one on my notification
So what's the point of home screen?
Just app drawer duplicated with widget?
btw stock touchwiz launcher

I find it is usefull to quickly access apps whilst not being packed with apps I rarely use
Do whatever you want with it. This is Android, after all, not iOS.
That's what makes us different than IOS Haha

Is there any way to show a launcher in the app drawer? I would like to get ADW to show so I can make a shortcut in Launcher7. If I can't do it through an app would it be possible to do it through editing the apk? If yes, then what would I have to change?
i want to know 2
I don't know if this helps but go launcher has an icon in the app drawer, it doesn't have much use but it's possible to put an icon there, if i click it, it just goes back to the main screen because the launcher was launched...
Is there a way to create an icon on my home screen, that when tapped, would act as a shortcut and open up a widget, such as a calendar widget?

Like what widget? You can add a widget to your homescreen by long press on the home screen. The menu will pop up and you can select from the widgets you have... you can also create a shortcut to any app by the same long press and selecting shortcuts...

If you're opening up something its an activity/app not a widget. You don't open a widget a widget opens an app.
I think OP is talking about having a shortcut that applies a widget to the home screen. I find that this would be useful if you say had a backup of your homescreen. Whenever I load a backup of a homescreen configuration I had, the widgets would always say "problem loading widget." The backup only restores shortcuts and placements. So this would save you from having to delete and readd widgets.
I have 2 suggestions.
Power Strip

or Quickdesk Beta/Pro
https://market.android.com/details?id=sg.ruqqq.quickdesk&feature=search_result
I use them both. here's a brief run down of how they each work
Power strip - it's a bar along the bottom of the screen with buttons for access to all your installed applications, shortcuts, widgets and whatever else you can figure out to put in it. i LOVE IT. It's 2 bux, but WELL worth the cost IMO. you can assign it to your home button or the hold search key (i use the home button for quick and easy access) but you can stuff as many widgets in there are you want and THEN SOME.. it's awesome! PLUS.. you can set it up to launch in ANY APP. say you're in maps.. but o snaps.. you forgot to turn on the wifi.. hold search and up comes powerstrip without even leaving maps.. you have your settings widget on the bar.. open it up.. tap the wifi button. slap the back key to exit powerstrip and voila.
Quickdesk - think if it as ONE of the panels from you homescreen. It's just one page that you can put widgets on.. on shortcoming... no scrolling widgets with this one. but likewise it can be accessed anywhere without leaving whatver app you're in.
These are both GREAT choices and i use them both... powerstrip is DEFINITELY the more flexible of the two though.

Ok just to confirm, a lot Widgets CANNOT be activated without being as widgets on the main screen. However, in launcher pro (not sure about other launchers), if you hard press and select "shortcuts">"application" then select the widgets (if u see any) that u like. It will also give u an option to customize the icon of your choice. This is one way to activate a widget by simply clicking the icon. Hope I helped.

Hey
I have question regarding adwlauncher ex.....
whenever you open app drawer and then you press the home button, the app drawer stays in that place and does not go back to the top.....
how can I change settings so whenever I close the app drawer, it goes back to the top automatically, and not stay at the same spot as last time?
To be more clear, I am using vertical app drawer, and for example, I have lots of apps in drawer, if I scroll up to view more apps and then close the drawer, the drawer stays at the same spot as how much i scrolled......I dont want it to stay there, I want the drawer to go back to the original position at the top....
hard to explain, but if someone know how to fix this please let me know
thanks
I know what you mean, but I don't believe there is a setting for this.
Hah, I was also thinking about this the other day and wish there was an option
Same with returning to the default homescreen after launching an app from a non-default homescreen.
With HC on my Xoom, when scrolling throught the app drawer, all I had were apps. With ICS, if I scroll past the end of the apps, it brings me into the widgets that if I tap them, will add to the home screen.
Is there any way to prevent this?
I guess what I'm asking is... With ICS how do I prevent my 3yr old son from being able to scrolling too far in the app drawer and ending up in the widget section where he is adding stuff to the home screens?

googling this just then... if your using cm9 the trebuchet launcher for cm9 doesnt seems to have the ability to lock the desktop (ie not add anything to home screens) see trebuchet features: http://geekprison.com/4472-download-cm9-cyanogenmod-9-trebuchet-launcher-for-android-4-0-3/
using a launcher such as adw ex... you can not only lock the desktop to stop ya boy from adding stuff, adding widgets uses a long press of the screen so the app list remains widget free
hope this helps
So 3rd party launcher is the only way?
and I guess I'm not as worried about adding stuff to the home screen, as he is getting to the widgets, tapping, and not understanding what its doing so he gets frustrated... unlike when he scrolls through apps, and taps, they launch.
Chrome..is there a way to shortcut my entire bookmaks list through 1 home screen icon? Im sick of going through the dots bookmark thing everytime i want to see a new site.
I used to use Cmarks before Google blocked the Api
With Nova launcher, yes.
(Using it for DuckDuckGo; no reason it cannot be done for Chrome)
Is it like a widget in the launcher?

Nope.
Just like a normal single icon on home screen (for the folder inside which are the shortcuts).
You can modify the icon for the main folder icon & the inside shortcut icons as you please.
Several shortcuts can be saved this way with either horizontal card panning or vertical scroll of shortcuts; background colour & transparency adjustable.
So that's close to what I've done as a temp. A folder with shortcuts in it. Cmarks was glorious cuz it had everything in a nice tight list and syncd with Google bookmarks automatically. It was like you bookmarks bar in 1 icon. I so miss this functionality.
