Okay, I was just curious as to whether the change to disable fm radio was hardware based or not?
If not, should an international base rom (such as Cloudy G3) be able to reenable this functionality given the right app installation?

Unfortunately I think it's physically disabled by hardware.

hello..., i would like for somebody to please help me out..., i am new, and i had two questions....
1) i have an htc touch from alltel flashed to metropcs, but i have an issue the gps does not work on google maps, i have internet, but i just can't get my GPS to work..... is there any way i can fix this???????
also i use GPSID SETTINGS...... AND IT tells me "failed to update Gps driver"
and i have also used htc gps tools, and it also tells me unable to open com, my settings are com 4, baud rate 4800, and manage automatically by windows...........and it is runing the latest rom by htc...
i also wanted to try to reflash my phone to manufacture settings..... like hard reseting it, but i don't want to lose the Metropcs flah settings....because last time i did it i had to pay them for they could reflash it????
Did you check that you have a GPS enabled radio? What's your current radio version?
Yup
well my radio version is 3.42.30, and also i am currently using an task maneger, in which i see a whole bunch of settings..., and when i go to the Devices Option... it shows alot of like little processors(e.g. TAI, BAT1, BAT2)
AND IN THE VERY BOTTOM THERE ARE 3 THAT SAY UNLOADED AND THE RESTS SAY THAT THEY ARE LOADED..... TH 3 THAT AR NOT LOADED ARE GPD0, GPS1, AND SIM????? IS THERE any way i can load thes 2???
Did the GPS ever work on the MetroPCS ROM? The HTC Touch was never advertised with GPS so the guys on the Touch forum unlocked it with custom ROMs. Some carriers chose to hide the GPS feature (like Sprint I believe, and Bell Canada's stock rom doesn't allow GPS either) so maybe the MetroPCS rom has disabled the GPS.
Hmmm??
well to be honest, i don't have a metropcs rom, and i do not know how to get one, also the currently rom that i have installed on my touch VOGU100, is the Alltel rom, which is windows mobile 6.1, and is there any way i can enable gpsone on the touch?????? cause with the current rom it is disable, and the only thing for gps that is enabled is GPD0. I USE Task Manager 3.1 to verify this....
I have a very general question. Where is the GPS firmware located?
My first guess is that it is within the radio firmware, but other possibilities are that it, or at least some of its functionality, is actually in Android. Or perhaps there is no GPS firmware at all?
The background of my question is that the GPS in my Galaxy Nexus has a bug (fails in high and fast flight), and I'd like to know where to begin when trying to locate and fix it (if that is ever possible).
Hi, I'm too new here, but really need help for my LG optimus net (p690b), running 2.3.4 stock, anyone has the FM radio.apk for this?
The phone is brand new, stock 2.3.4 but without the FM radio app, software version v10i from virgin mobile, didnt change anything yet. Knowing most people who have this usually have FM radio even on stock, just need an apk if someone can help... well, ... me too new here.
It dose have internet radio and will cost your data plan, but that is not i want.
Tried Spirit FM radio already with no luck, the FM receiver did catch signal well as you can see it from the screen, but however there is no audio no matter how u adjust the audio setting
Thanks!

Ok. I've seen that it is not possible to have Stk app running under Nexus S under normal circumstances. So I noticed that Galaxy S and Nexus S have the same baseband chip and that Galaxy S comes with Stk.apk and it works fine. So I was able to flash a Galaxy S radio image on my Nexus S, and for my surprise, the Stk didn't work.
Could someone give me a link to a Galaxy S I9000 or I9000B radio image which responds to Stk.apk requests? I've tested some, but I refuse to believe that it is not working cause of black magic... I was sure it would work So this is my last try, if someone have a Galaxy S radio which responds to Stk, I would really appreciate the image name.
Thanks!

If you use CyanogenMod, STK works fine. It even initializes as you boot your phone or turn on then turn off airplane mode (you see the "default message" toast at the bottom of the screen).

I guess there's something else other than the radio image bugging communication of proactive commands. I've downloaded a CyanogenMod 10 build for galaxy s and flashed the modem.bin image on the Nexus. Baseband version is updated (can check trough logs and settings), but still the messages are not supported. I wonder what else could be interfering with proactive commands. Do you have any ideas?

Sadly, no. I don't need STK here.
But what is your goal? I have the feeling you might be hunting high and low trying to flash a Galaxy S radio, only to get STK working, when if you tell us what is your end goal someone might chime in with better and more precise advice.
As I mentioned, CM10 already has STK.apk working (by the way STK has to be built for the correct OS version and phone, can't just swap it around). Usually you just have to set a SIM pin to "enable" it.

My goal is to have the Stk running on Nexus S. For what I've searched the net, I haven't found anyone who was able to do it... You said CM10 already has STK working, but is this for Nexus S?
I didn't get what you said about setting up a SIM pin to enable it... As I see it, if the STK.apk is available in one phone (let's say motorola GB) this means the SIM is already configured to access sim menus and applications. So if I put the same SIM on Nexus S, the natural behavior would be to have Stk.apk pop up in the launcher...
The problem is that Nexus S doesn't show the app in the drawer, and the reason behind that is that the lower levels (proprietary ril) don't send specific messages. To be precise:
Frame work Stk sends a RIL_REQUEST_REPORT_STK_SERVICE_IS_RUNNING message to ril exepecting an ok answer.
What happens is that RIL respondes REQUEST_NOT_SUPPORTED.
My attempt of flashing a Galaxy S radio on Nexus was based on an idea after seeing this message being answered in a friend's GS.

As I said, go to the security option in CM, enable SIM pin. That usually makes STK popup after a reboot in the launcher.

I'll get my hands on a SIM with available pins to test this... I'll post back ASAP.

You don't have a SIM? You should be able to set a PIN password on any working SIM as far as I know.
Can somebody make unlock function of mi band in cm11? Any idea how is possible port this function to the OnePlus?

I'm curious too. I currently own a MiBand and everything works fine.
I think we'll have to wait for Android L which supports Bluetooth LE unlocking.
Currently, it works with a Tasker profile, though it's often a bit slow and can take up to 5-10 minutes untill it realises that the Miband is there / not there. On the other hand, if it's security you're thinking about, it may be a solution.

For now there's no solution for truly proximity-unlock as in MIUI.
But for other phones only near solution is Xposed-module No Lock Home (all other apps non-functional for reasons).
It will to enable secure lock-screen if no connection with bracelet e.g. you lost phone = distance over 10 meters.
When Mi Band connected in module settings once tap "plus" icon > Bluetooth (MAC address)
This will fill MAC-address in field below and auto-locking will work.
Experiment with other settings too and don't forget to donate to author of module.
Maybe sometime he will add unlocking based on signal strength from band as in MIUI: I posted feature-request.
Did no lock home work for you? I thought it didn't support bluetooth le?
Currently i'm using tasker profile but it's sloooooow
Will this work if we use MIUI ROM?
