[Q&A] AOSB - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Q&A for AOSB
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for AOSB. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

I've got the same problem as you. Even I use the latest release, which gives me error491, then replacing downloadprovider. apk will give me insufficient space. I tried clearing cache and delete accounts etc.
I love AOSB, hope it will work on 1+.

Hi, use experimental build which has fixed downloadprovider

Yes... I was looking for the experimental build you mentioned earlier in the post and I JUST found it (in the third post right?). Thanks for your reply! I will try it out first thing when I get home.
EDIT: Works very well. Thank you again.

I am pretty sure there's plenty of threads regarding dumps and progress can easily posted on sites like GitHub or the main ROM thread. Useless thread is useless.

Not Really. I've seen one thread on a dump for the 7.0 and I still haven't seen a thread pointing me in the right direction with the boot mount. There also have been comments on threads with people saying their starting to port stuff for the tab so I made the thread so people could post their work here and get more help.

[Q] Please help a total noob with updating my OPO

Hi guys,
Backstory: This is my first phone that I have ever rooted and kernel (franco). I was able to root my OPO with the links I have found on this subreddit (took me an hour because I am a noob). However, I am still new to "flashing, wiping, zip" etc terms.
Currently my OPO is: 11.0-XNPH33R
Kernel Version 3.4.0 franco.kernel #22
This is all that I have done with my phone. No other mods or customization. I want to update to the 38R.
I have seen the links in this subreddit on how to update without wiping data on the phone with modded 38Rs files and etc.
The thing is, I still feel uncomfortable with how to update my phone because the steps I see is "....flash this, boot that, reflash this..." etc.
I need some detailed directions, as if I am a total noob. Step by step directions.
I currently have the OTA update on my phone's update setting.
I am asking wholeheartedly to find someone who is willing to spend the time and effort to help a noobie like me in updating my phone. (I hope this will teach me on how to update my phone in the furture by using this as a reference)
What are my steps to update my phone? (Please be very specific)
Please forgive a noob like me. I thank you for taking your time to help me.

That's awesome. But, @PaoloMix09, why do it via PM? The whole point of having a q&a section is so that valuable information is readily available for those who are seeking it. The help you have given is of no benefit to the community if it's buried in an inbox where nobody can see it. In future could you please assist people in the threads? That way everyone benefits [emoji1]

Totally understand. I actually helped through hangouts. Reason being, since he is just learning, wanted to provide guidance and him being able to reply to me asap helps a lot. He was also asking many questions, best way was definitely on chat this time. Not only replying to him in here would've taken longer, but he probably wouldn't have understood some things. Just what I think.
I will try to respond on here more often.

Great job on the rom but I did find a problem when trying to enable ART. The device restarts and sits at the LG logo for a few minutes. Other then that your rom is very impressive in battery life and speed. Almost forgot At&t G3 850.
The Rom is deodexed and that could be why but can't say for sure. Are you saying ART doesn't work?

Can we nuke CarrierIQ at the source?
Would it be possible to disable the services and remove the libraries and the apk to disable CarrierIQ? There are those that would appreciate having all the tracky bits removed. Little scary for us noobs.

There are 3 big ones I want to tackle before releasing each would be tough. Stock message, phone and contacts. I had to pretty much redo the entire framework and layout for what I did so far and I'm afraid I would have to do the same for the rest.

[Q&A][FAQ][KERNEL] The Green Machine - v1.0.0

Just to relieve some stress from the dev, I've made this Q&A and troubleshooting thread where you can blast your problems and inquiries.
Here is the original development thread.
I'll be updating the OP with FAQs and stuff as and when I get a brainwave.
Not sure if you're aware but q&a threads are generated automatically these days.

I know about those, but they're never used because there's nobody to monitor the thread and answer the thread so the dev thread gets spammed.

Look. I don't want to get into an argument here. It's much easier if someone who's working with the dev created a thread for FAQ and preventing the development thread from getting spammed. I'm just trying to do my job here. If there genuinely is a problem, I'll close the thread.

I'm coming from multiple kernel/ROM threads, and I've always had users go over board with the feature requests, bugs, off-topic, etc.. I wanted this side thread so that it would answer most of those questions that come up. It gets annoying after a while if +10 users ask questions about things clearly in the OP.
It's a good idea in theory, but it still relies on people coming here in the first place, which unfortunately isn't going to be true for most of them. You'll most likely still get the same amount of crap in the dev thread and then a few people here too. But lets hope it works.

Yup. Since the dev and I are working together, he can give all questions the "silent treatment" and make sure others do to. Hopefully, it'll work.

That's usually the plan of attack, but it usually doesn't work. I've had a lot of experience with this, I've created heaps of these dedicated q&a threads in various device sections. People are lazy, they'll continue to post in the dev thread, they don't read the OP, they don't read instructions telling them to post in the separate thread, they don't read. They want answers yesterday and how dare we get in the way by attempting to keep XDA the way it was intended to be in the first place.

Just installed this kernel (literally, like 5 mins ago) and got a random reboot when trying to wake up the screen.
Using it with Blisspop (the 20 December build) with the stock kernel settings.

I did actually, while typing a message in Whatsapp.
I honestly have no idea what could have caused that reboot, since i ran the stock kernel settings

Hi everyone. I can't get the latest version of this kernel to boot. I'm using temaseks latest lollipop ROM, with an ext4 /system partition and f2fs data and cache partitions. Is this kernel fully f2fs compatible? Thanks
