[TIP] How to apply as a Recognized Contributor on XDA

I thought of reposting this so that my family here on the i9003 forums may know how to apply as a Recognized Contributor. This is just a repost and some minor modification of what s.d.oconnor posted over at the General Forum
So over on the Recognized Contributors forum, it has become clear that most members of XDA don't know that you can apply for the title of Recognized Contributor (RC).
What is a Recognized Contributor?
Recognized Contributor is a role intended for members who produce some of the best original and helpful guides for users, as well as helping other users who have problems, in a friendly manner. Recognized Contributors will get a custom user title and the faster ad-free XDA template, as well as access to developer tools currently being created. Any Senior Moderator on XDA can add Recognized Contributors, should you feel deserving of this title.

How can i apply?
Well like it says in the text above, you can apply for this title by sending a PM to any Senior Moderator (list of Senior Mods below).
Best way on how to apply through Private Message (PM)
When you are writing you application to a S-Mod you will need to include:
* A polite hello
* Your username with a link to your username, they will want to check your history.
* Why you think you you would make a good RC, including a little about your time on XDA.
* Links to your work including Guides, Ref, Roms, Projects, Apps E.T.C
*A thank you for their time and good bye (Manners are free)
Note:
Please note only apply once to one S-Mod, do not send 3 aplications to 3 diffrent S-Mods. Also be patient, the S-Mods are very busy people and have other work on XDA and in personal life.

If you do get accepted as a RC then please come and visit the RC's forum and help contribute to our work and cause to make XDA a better place. If you have any questions then please ask, i will or other RC's will help in anyway we can.

I applied for RC post. But rejected because senior moderator feel that I am not eligible
Never mind... still I am happy that I am helping this community in my way as much as possible by calling new developers with help of i9003 members

RCs need to make stuff of their own, which is what vishal is missing I believe. I'm missing that too, so I'll make some stuff on my own before applying. Well vishal we're both still android noobs sadly

I think they make a difference between a Recognized Contributor and a Recognized Developer. I think the last one is more for People with own ROMs, Apps, etc...
Eventually that was the problem?

@vishal recognised contributor and developer is different if I'm not wrong

Not everyone is experienced / know stuff! So its just a way to prevent development section from being spammed. Just go to Q&A, answer some questions, finish 10 posts then it's all yours!

Q:Why are you being a sap and promoting your group?
A:Unfortunately, we have very little people in our group and, in order to be able to do the things we'd like to benefit the XDA community, need more to help us work on projects.
Q:Why can't I just submit something myself and get full credit for it?
A:First thing's first, if you alone created it, there's no need to give credit to others. However, if you had help from others members of Team Innov8, the member that put the most effort into the work/came up with the idea will OP the thread and properly credit the help he/she recieved. Second, the idea behind our group is basically taking "two heads are better than one" and applying it to a larger group of people to create something unique, to fill in blanks left by only one person working on that theme, rom, boot animation, or etc. Finally, having the backing of Team Innov8 means a better outcome for you. Any work you OP will be referenced or recommended by other members of the group, hence more people will view your work.
Q:What do I have to do in this group?
A:One of the standards of Team Innov8 is to have an active community. So, if you plan to join 'fo sho' and not contribute anything, well then think again. You must in some way contribute, either in the discussions or in the creation of a new project.
Q:I don't see anything for my device from this group D:
A:That's the point of all this. Because of our lack of people, we don' have much to work with. A larger work force means a larger coverage of devices. So if you join, you can help us make something for your device .​

Other member of this group here... We're a couple college students in engineering that'd like to start doing some development for devices, atm we simply have a theme for the US versions of the S3 called "CityScapeS3" using the VRTheme system and Morphology for the S3's if you've heard of it. We want to get much more technical (smali coding, inventing new mods/features, full ROMs created from scratch without the help of a rom building tool, custom kernels, etc.) for whatever devices we can, mostly devices with Qualcomm chipsets because that's what we have in the US. We believe the best way to do this is to get help from real people and hopefully also help those same members out when they're stuck, and this is why we are looking for additional team members. Right now we're definitely nothing big, but I'm ambitious to change that!

What happened to thanking the creator of this rom. Whether he comes on xda or not is irrelevant. Rules of xda to give thanks to the original maker. You don't even mention puremod in the thread

12. Using the work of others.
If you are developing something that is based on the work of another Member, you MUST first seek their permission, and you must give credit to the member whose work you used. If a dispute occurs about who developed / created a piece of work, first try to settle the matter by private message and NOT in open forum. If this fails then you may contact a moderator with clear evidence that the work was created by you.
Convincing evidence will result in copied work being removed. If there is no clear evidence you created the work then in the spirit of sharing all work will remain posted on the forums.
As an addition, developers have the right to hold exclusivity over their work for as long as it is deemed necessary by the dev or freely share it. However, if the work is claimed as exclusive, it must remain as such. No selective sharing will be allowed (ie allowing certain people to use it and not others). Should the dev decide to start sharing the work with others, the work automatically becomes fair game for all to use.
In regards to permissions, same rules remain for this but if permission was already given, unless there is a very valid reason, it cannot be revoked (same applies to major updates on the work). Under that same premise, permissions cannot be denied unless the work is exclusive or under severe circumstances.
In plain English: If you want to keep your work exclusive, go for it. However, if you are going to share your work, do it fairly.
These rules apply to all software posted on XDA (including but not limited to ROMs, RUUs, apps, games, kernels, themes, icons, etc) unless that software comes with a license that waives these rules.
