[SIZE=+1]Q1: Why isn't Flashtool working?[/SIZE]If you are getting an error message about the header of your ftf, then you will need to copy loader.sin into your ftf file before flashing. Make sure that the drivers for your device are loaded and that you wait for Flashtool to ask you to connect your device. Your device should be in msc mode and USB debugging needs to be on. There is a thread dedicated to issues with flashing here.​
[SIZE=+1]Q2: How do I root my device?[/SIZE]Rooting is usually done by applying an exploit or sometimes it can be done with Flashtool. Rooting can be a little bit confusing because not every version of Firmware is vulnerable to the same exploits, so some rooting strategies require changing the Firmware as part of the rooting process. It is probably best to consult one of the rooting guides for your device. For example: here or here​
[SIZE=+1]Q3: How do I unlock the bootloader?[/SIZE]Unlocking the bootloader is essential if you want to use custom kernels. After unlocking the bootloader you will have to use Flashtool to update your device because PC Companion and SUS won't recognize your device, unless you relock your bootloader. You can use either the Official Sony Unlocking method or SE Tool to unlock your bootloader. See the guide here​
[SIZE=+1]Q4: Will --fill in the blank-- work on the Dual?[/SIZE]If it doesn't explicity say that it works on the Dual, it probably doesn't. Make sure to read the OP carefully and have a recovery strategy in place, for example a recent nandroid back up, just in case.​

Asking this question will most likely get you made fun of, and since it is against the rules, your thread or post will most likely be deleted. The best ROM or kernel will depend on how you use your device and what you are hoping to get out of it. So, only you can answer this question, have a little bit of fun testing different ROMs and kernels and then pick the set up that works the best for you.​

Thnking about buying an xperia tipo,
just wantd to know whether i can flash kernel from the phone itself in tipo? (does it have a dedicated recovery partition?)

No, all xperia phones have no recovery partitions, but it's easy to enter flashmode and fastboot mode, and using flashtool software on pc, you can fastboot kernel, flash roms etc.

I'm an Xperia tipo dual user, with current build number 11.0.A.6.5 updated using Sony PC companion. I just want to ask, does the tipo dual have physical RAM of 512 MB? That's what I thought before, because when I checked my Ram it only has a total of 404MB, wheres the other 100+MB? I'm very disappointed.pls.help. :|

I am thinking of buying a xperia J in India. Are there any custom Roms which have call recording enabled for this particular phone? I have tried to use the search feature on Xda prior to posting this query and have also tried a google search for xda and freexperia but have not found any pointed answers.

Hi!
First of, im not that bright as you will see:
What i've done on my miro is, well i had cwm and the gimlo custom rom, everything worked nice except my sound (it worked for a couple of days and then just stopped), as I wasn't sure if it was a hardware problem i tried to reflash the rom, and here comes the problem.
As I booted into cwm I did a system format so I can properly re-flash the rom, and as gitsy as I am i just pressed reboot phone now instead of flashing the rom first.
Now I can't get to recovery and I can't get it past the sony logo on boot. How do I fix this problem?
EDIT: Fixed! I got it to flashmode (plug in and hold the vol-) and flashed the original firmware via flashtool! Will keep the post if someone has the same problem. Feel free to ask a question or two if you need help from me ..aand not to forget, my sound works again!

you use vengeance with cm10 ? I thought it was for ics....anyways thats a bug which is still not fixed

Soo, does UltraGamerHD has already build the Zeus (or Zues?) kernel v3.1.2 (CWM) or v3.1.3 (TWRP)? Because in the first post, he stated that he already did, but when I check thecomputerparamedic.tk, only v3.1.1 (CWM) and 3.1.2 (TWRP) are available. Is it just me, or anyone else got it. Does anybody here have the latest version? Please share to me if you can

I have a ROOTED Sony Xperia E Dual C1605. I want to overclock it's CPU. Because I'm a gamer I have read that, to overclock my CPU I need to flash a custom kernel. I searched and found this. post.
My question is do I need to do some pre-steps before flashing this kernel? I mean, do I need to unlock my bootloader, install a recovery software or something that. Or do I just flash this kernel with flashtool??
And yes i have never flashed a custom kernel or Rom in my phone.So an easy answer will help me

if it's a ftf file put it on ur c:/flash tool/firmware folder or where u have ur flastool installed,connect ur phone in flash mode (volume -) and flash the ftf ..

first of all, thank you for posting this tutorial. I cant continue the installation because flashtool show me "Your device bootloader cannot be officially unlocked". i know only version D2203 can be officially unlocked. I am doing something wrong ?
PS: you said "ESPECIALLY FOR MODEL D2202 and D2212. "

I heard that some D2203 models have this problem. This method successfully works for D2202 & D2212.what's your firmware version?

The described steps worked fine 3 times for me (bricked for another reason ) on my D2212 Dual (Brazil). Now I am having a hard time to achieve a working init.d. Did try "universal init.d" and "init.d toggler" and none worked. Looking for flasheable zips found none E3 specific and so I didn't risk (yet).

Universal Init.d is working fine with my D2212 I am using latest 4.4.4 kitkat so try updating and then installing universal init.d.

So, since I've unlocked my bootloader to root I won't be getting updates from Sony. Checking XperiFirm there are two Brazil customized roms, one still on 4.4.2 (18.4.B.2.14/R5B) which I've used, the other missing files from Sony (18.4.B.2.14/R4B) and no US/intl there.
Any tip where can I find a 4.4.4 to flash?

I dont know whether your problem has been solved or not, I just try to help you and others who may have similar issue.
Installing flashtool driver in windows 8/8.1 need to disable driver signature in the computer setting:
Go to Settings
1.) Change PC Settings
2.) General
3.) Scroll down to Advanced Startup > Restart Now
4.) Trouble shoot
5.) Advanced options
6.) Windows startup options
7.) Restart
8.) Press F7
9.) Reboot
Now you can install the driver

Use the tool to root yr phone, its easy to use the tool if u hav problems, say here I will try to help u

this root method is not stable i have tried and got antutu benchmark score 15000 so i have removed it wait for a developer rom guys............

its absolutely stable and result for ur low score is many apps running in background, use greenify and closse all apps then try benchmark

i had to wait for "Android" driver to install automatically from windows update.

Will this method void warranty.

this usually happens if debugging is not enabled or drivers not present .Make sure proper drivers are installed. CHeck device manager any usb device is not showing exclamation mark. it should show as "android composite adb interface" .

i sucessfully rooted my mi4i as per above .Today my device got update and rebooting caused screen freezed at MI logo.as i am not aware how to open the phone and remove the battery.pl help me to come out of bootloop on update from mi server after rooting....

Also if we do this would all the data be wiped?

if u have enable usb debugging in developers option in mi4i and installed adb minimal there should not be any issue..
