[SIZE=+1]Q1: Why isn't Flashtool working?[/SIZE]If you are getting an error message about the header of your ftf, then you will need to copy loader.sin into your ftf file before flashing. Make sure that the drivers for your device are loaded and that you wait for Flashtool to ask you to connect your device. Your device should be in msc mode and USB debugging needs to be on. There is a thread dedicated to issues with flashing here.
[SIZE=+1]Q2: How do I root my device?[/SIZE]Rooting is usually done by applying an exploit or sometimes it can be done with Flashtool. Rooting can be a little bit confusing because not every version of Firmware is vulnerable to the same exploits, so some rooting strategies require changing the Firmware as part of the rooting process. It is probably best to consult one of the rooting guides for your device. For example: here or here
[SIZE=+1]Q3: How do I unlock the bootloader?[/SIZE]Unlocking the bootloader is essential if you want to use custom kernels. After unlocking the bootloader you will have to use Flashtool to update your device because PC Companion and SUS won't recognize your device, unless you relock your bootloader. You can use either the Official Sony Unlocking method or SE Tool to unlock your bootloader. See the guide here
[SIZE=+1]Q4: Will --fill in the blank-- work on the Dual?[/SIZE]If it doesn't explicity say that it works on the Dual, it probably doesn't. Make sure to read the OP carefully and have a recovery strategy in place, for example a recent nandroid back up, just in case.
[SIZE=+1]Q5: What is the best ROM or kernel?[/SIZE]This is probably NOT a good question to be asking. Asking this question will most likely get you made fun of, and since it is against the rules, your thread or post will most likely be deleted. The best ROM or kernel will depend on how you use your device and what you are hoping to get out of it. So, only you can answer this question, have a little bit of fun testing different ROMs and kernels and then pick the set up that works the best for you.

No, all xperia phones have no recovery partitions, but it's easy to enter flashmode and fastboot mode, and using flashtool software on pc, you can fastboot kernel, flash roms etc.

I'm an Xperia tipo dual user, with current build number 11.0.A.6.5 updated using Sony PC companion. I just want to ask, does the tipo dual have physical RAM of 512 MB? That's what I thought before, because when I checked my Ram it only has a total of 404MB, wheres the other 100+MB? I'm very disappointed.pls.help. :|

First of, im not that bright as you will see:
What i've done on my miro is, well i had cwm and the gimlo custom rom, everything worked nice except my sound (it worked for a couple of days and then just stopped), as I wasn't sure if it was a hardware problem i tried to reflash the rom, and here comes the problem.
As I booted into cwm I did a system format so I can properly re-flash the rom, and as gitsy as I am i just pressed reboot phone now instead of flashing the rom first.
Now I can't get to recovery and I can't get it past the sony logo on boot. How do I fix this problem?
EDIT: Fixed! I got it to flashmode (plug in and hold the vol-) and flashed the original firmware via flashtool! Will keep the post if someone has the same problem. Feel free to ask a question or two if you need help from me ..aand not to forget, my sound works again!

I've managed to root my Wt19i(Sony Ericsson Live With Walkman) having the latest version of Android 4.0.4 but I have an unlocked bootloader using the information from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30465156#post30465156
I can give you assistance on unlocking the bootloader (using the testpoint method) if you're blocked. There are several threads on this forum describing how to do it. I will help you tomorrow when I'll be on my pc.

Download and install flashtool from here
Download the stock ICS firmware(ftf) from here
Download and install drivers from here
Flash the stock ROM using the procedure mentioned here
while flashing please see that you flash the kernel also since you are not on stock kernel

I have really got fed up with my xperia e dual. I have search many times on the internet but I did not get any custom rom , overclocking kernel ,swap,mod, not a single thing, I m really sad about that . I can't understand why there is not a single thing . I know the phone is new but at least one custom kernel..............
There is no developers man...
And for Xperia J there is no very much custom kernels,roms...
If i take Xperia X8 (phone from 2009 i think) for example, my previous phone has too much developers... Not so maby custom roms but all are very good,about 1000 custom roms... Gb,ics,floyo,JB,... Latest stock rom is 2.1 (very old...) but devs made a jelly bean for this tiny phone with 182mb of ram(175mb with stock kernel)... :

as 2010 matej said there are no developers at the moment you got to wait
Just wait patiently and dont complaint. Back then, tipo users also have to wait a long time just to get cwm for locked bootloaders. Since E is still considered new, even rooting it is hard, with updates that kills the root. You said X8 got many mods, even jb roms, its an old phone, with many users still using it, with android 2.1 stock. Its not easy to actually make rom, even cwm, and these devs do their awesome works for free, we cant just push them.

You are incorrect...
There us custom Rom like jjm34's cm10 and z fusion...
Overclocking kernel like vengeance( but it didn't work for me)
There are many mods available like yayakuya's collection for e...
There are guides to install cwm flash ftf.etc.....
Just search xda.....
But it is a fact that there are not many developers....but you cannot say there is nothing....
About tipo and miro....they too have same hardware..but they didn't get official jellybean....

I m not able to install the kernel with flashtool
I have followed all the steps but flashtool shows an error and says( remote device must be rooted)
but my phone is rooted as I m running many root apps like :- titanium backup , gamebooster

You need an unlocked bootloader to install custom kernels. Follow Sony's official guide to do so, remember if bootloader unlock says no you cant unlock it and if it says yes and you do unlock it you lose any remaining warranty.

Do bear in mind that I do own a Miro and not an E Dual. I had no problems unlocking mine with Sony's method.

In all honesty I don't even know how to use it
I haven't heard of any cases of a bootloop on a Miro, but you have a point. And I only made the point due to our phones being different.

firstly thanks for your fast responces and yes , when I connect my phone to flashtool it tells the model number ,busybox version , root acces and some other information but when I connect the phone In fastboot mode it does not give any information and just shows device connected in fastboot mode and when I select the kernel to flash and select open, it shows error (remote device must be rooted). what do this means , why I m facing this problem

I found a very similar issue report here.
Fortunately it was solved.
Hopefully this can solve your issue too.
If not, just ask in this thread again. The developers of both ROM versions (for the Miro and Tipo) are watching it and have already posted answers in this thread.
EDIT:
And make sure that you flashed this ROM version for your Sony Xperia Mico.

The described steps worked fine 3 times for me (bricked for another reason ) on my D2212 Dual (Brazil). Now I am having a hard time to achieve a working init.d. Did try "universal init.d" and "init.d toggler" and none worked. Looking for flasheable zips found none E3 specific and so I didn't risk (yet).

Universal Init.d is working fine with my D2212 I am using latest 4.4.4 kitkat so try updating and then installing universal init.d.

So, since I've unlocked my bootloader to root I won't be getting updates from Sony. Checking XperiFirm there are two Brazil customized roms, one still on 4.4.2 (18.4.B.2.14/R5B) which I've used, the other missing files from Sony (18.4.B.2.14/R4B) and no US/intl there.
Any tip where can I find a 4.4.4 to flash?

I dont know whether your problem has been solved or not, I just try to help you and others who may have similar issue.
Installing flashtool driver in windows 8/8.1 need to disable driver signature in the computer setting:
Go to Settings
1.) Change PC Settings
2.) General
3.) Scroll down to Advanced Startup > Restart Now
4.) Trouble shoot
