Development for camcorder and 720p - Desire Android Development

The focus of this thread is to get 720p playback and camcorder working for desire on Kitkat ROMs.
tytung has successfully got camcorder and 720 playback mp4 for HD2 for Ics, Jellybean and Kitkat. I have manage replicate the code and will try to get it working on desire
I don't owe a desire so will need some user to actively test the ROM and kernel that I will compile and post.
Source code I have take in from spezi git and first working on cm11 ROM then evervolv
Instructions below is taken from spezi77 thread.
Tester should know how to flash kernel or ROM
Also know how to provide kmsg or last_ksmg and logcat
Installation notes
- Rooted
- At least 512mb ext4 sd-ext partition (1024mb recommended)
- Hboot with at least 250mb system partition (If not slimmed) -> please use AlphaRev Jelly Hboot (250/5/182) for best experience
- Use a newer recovery such as 4ext (credits madmaxx82 & jmcclue) or twrp (credits Chromium)
- Full wipe recommended
- Flash ROM
- In case you use Alpha Jelly hboot (250/5/182) flash GApps -- if not then boot ROM and enable A2SD before flashing GApps
- Boot ROM and let it settle down (3-5 min)
- Enable A2SD
Code:
1) run Terminal Emulator
2) type 'su' and press enter
3) allow root access in the popup query
4) type 'a2sd install' and press enter
5) reply to questions in this order
--> y n y (dalvik to card - yes, data to card - no, reboot - yes)
6) that's it
Enable Developer Settings
--> Open up "Settings > About phone" and tapping 7 times on "Build number"

Testing Logs
Download ROM (26Oct2014)
25/Oct/2014 - Above link ROM an kernel boots , 720p works but camcorder doesn't work
26/Oct/2014 - Uploaded new kernel for test. Result=No tested yet See Post
Hopefully the ROM boots fine.
I made the following changes in evervolv qsd8k kernel.
1. Used older venc driver.
2. Change PMEM_ADSP size to 0x02C00000
You can find it in the attached zip on this post. Add these files if
Do the following test.
For Playback 720p
First test playback the smaller resolution video files in Gallery. Playback a smaller resolution media files (mp4) 176 x 144.
If that is successful play this file http://www.h264info.com/clips.html serenity trailer 720p resolution.
Do the following test for camcorder
Open camcorder and record. If it fails go to setting and change audio from aac to amr or vice versa. Try both audtio setting. I have disable all other not working video setting so you will see only m4v

nickleby said:
I've selected the related files to 720p playback because I don't wanna flash a whole ROM for the moment (I can't), and I can confirm that 720p playback works fine (at least under Evervolv, I'm sure it will be fine for CM too). However, I haven't tested camcoder yet, I'll try to compile the kernel right now and test. Thanks macs18max!!!
Edit: I had the chance to flash the complete ROM. 720p works fine. Camcoder using AAC or AMR with MSM_PMEM_ADSP_SIZE = 0x02C00000 doesn't work. Using MSM_PMEM_ADSP_SIZE = 0x03200000 is the same. The phone/camera app hangs after pressing the record button.

Hi, I cannot have the ROM installed the whole day because I'm busy with an university assigment and basically I need to stay with my current ROM (Evervolv) to have all my information and apps... I tried the kernel with evervolv and camcoder is not working (same behaviour as with your ROM). I saw you've missed a flag in boardconfig.mk when compiling but I'm trying to download the new ROM and it's asking for a permission... I'm going to have like 2 hours free right now, so I can flash the ROM again and test...

I don't use Google Drive either. When I open the link it says I need permission to access the file. There's a button to request for a permission, I've pressed it and I guess it sends you an email to aprove my request. Somewhere in Google Drive must be an option to make the file available to all public.

Did not log anything, but.
Same as above, with/without kernel files. Once record is pressed, nothing happens.
Mount command in kernel zip is missing "yaffs" in the beginning, before "MTD".
With kernel files flashed, system looks more responsive, at least for me.
Cheers!

Ah,for 720p recording. Jorixine send me a PM with a possible method. I try,but failed. But I still want to post here.
The fix is somewhere within media_profiles.xml and build.prop
media_profiles.xml can be edited as you please, even for making the HD videos to size lesser than normal
For it to work, in the build.prop you have to change the following:
ro.media.capture.maxres=5m
ro.media.capture.fast.fps=4
ro.media.capture.slow.fps=60
ro.media.enc.hprof.vid.width=1280
ro.media.enc.hprof.vid.height=720
ro.media.capture.flash=led
ro.media.capture.useDFR=1
ro.media.capture.flashIntensity=42
ro.media.capture.torchIntensity=42
ro.media.capture.classification=classE
ro.mot.setuptype=1
ro.media.enc.aud.fileformat=3gp
ro.media.enc.aud.codec=amrnb
ro.media.enc.aud.bps=12200
ro.media.enc.aud.ch=1
ro.media.enc.aud.hz=8000
ro.media.dec.jpeg.memcap=20000000
r,o.media.dec.aud.wma.enabled=1
ro.media.dec.vid.wmv.enabled=1
He insists, recording 720p is working, the thing is that the phone reboots by itself a lot and some of those reboots are even when it never finished loading the OS, its very annoying.
Seems like the key question is to keep playing with these values. Moreover where it says ClassE, because in GB that comes as ClassH, but he changed it.
Maybe somebody with more expertise can playaround with these two files, get the correct configuration and avoid the rebooting issue.

Use winrar3.50 or latest 7zip. Because I use highest compress level.
I think I have fix the battery charging issue. Now I am on 4167 at 92%. No jumping during charing.
What about USB not working as in Stock? any update on that? i think its the MotoUSB.apk, ill try replacing it with stock USB.apk from Arg Movistar 2.2.2
(and yeah i already edited MIUI framework-res.apk)
Endless, your framework-res.apk included is the CM7 one right? cuz the one of MIUI usually is about 7 to 8 MB and your is 4/5 MB

So, have media playback besides mp3/mp4 been fixed?
Is this a complete CM7?
Because decompressed its only ~83 MB....
As the title says, they are fixes for applying on a defy's cm7 or miui, to make it work on milestone 2.
It's not a complete ROM.
ah ok and install logically in cwm "apply update from zip" ?

[ICS][ALPHA][02-03-2012]CM9 with camera support

This is a snapshot of my work on bringing camera support to Tezet's Milestone2 ICS port.
This is continuation of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1520572
- it's based on CM9 snapshot from March 2nd
- it may contain more (or less) bugs from Tezet's builds. It's simply different, newer etc.
- it should be possible to load this without factory reset on top of Tezet's CM9 builds and the other way around, though the last time I've tried this was early February...
- there's no need to wipe dalvik cache - the update script does this
- the fix for SIM lock pin is not included
- there's no Torch and file manager app. Don't ask
Camera notes:
The work is based on Atrix ICS camera support, with added overlay emulation.
What is working:
live preview
zooming
flash
focus
exposure compensation etc
taking photos
some 3rd party apps (Pano, CameraFX, Barcode scanner)
doesn't crash when enterinng video/panorama mode
generally much more stable
... probably not much more
What is not working:
panorama mode
video recording
a lot more
Other stuff: (compared to previous version)
- bluetooth should be OK (please test)
- aGPS should work
I highly recommend to do a nandroid backup before trying it.
Latest version available at http://code.google.com/p/cm9-milestone2/downloads/list
If your phone is stuck on Google logo, it means you have chosen a wrong version and you need to recover your phone from the SBF file.
Repository:
repo init -u git://github.com/rondoval/android.git -b ics
All the credits go to:
- Tezet, for the Milestone2 port
- tpruvot, Quarx2k, for their tremendous efforts on Defy support (and thus Milestone2)
- whole Atrix-Dev-Team, Raviprasad V Mummidi, zivan56 for their tremendous work on the camera driver
Just backing up my MS2 now. Going to flash it over CM7 Tezet and see how it goes.
Cheers for the efforts

Actually this would be a good test... I did that in december. I had some issues, bu I think that was mainly due to wrong version of gapps.
If you're still planning to try upgrading from CM7 to CM9: You may need to wipe telephony provider data and deskclock after upgrade.
/data/data/com.android.deskclock/databases/alarms.db
/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db
Please tell us how did it go

I know it is CM9 I said I was flashing (upgarding) FROM CM7.
As per your advice I cleared alarms.db and telephony.db and was going well.
I also was unable to find the fix for the SIM PIN lock, so I just disabled it.
I haven't yet tried the gapps for ICS because the download through multiupload.com is not working (seems as though multiupload in general is down).
I can confirm that the camera works (photos only) and was able to upgrade from CM7 with no issues without wiping my data.
The ROM is smooth and seems to handle most tasks I have thrown at it. However, I am finding 3D performance a bit lesser than that experienced on CM7 (not a major issue).
Cheers.
Good work, thx! Glad to see we have one more dev working on our MS2.

Is there any bug for the touch?
Since when I am touching and holding on the screen, it displays I'm swiping horizontally instead of holding it (I enabled "Show touches" in Development Tools)
I believe i might have run into a bug, Im not sure if anyone has note this bug or not. In the apps menu, if you hold a application, you can drag it to Remove which will uninstall the app normally, however at the moment, dragging it to Remove does nothing. Does anyone have a idea whats wrong?
i have a huge problem. when my phone is booting up, it only shows the google logo, and.. nothing happend. only a black screen with backlights.
if i try the X factory reset, the screen with an exclamation mark pops up -
but if i press the @ key, nothing happen.
if i try to the connect my phone with RSD lite, the bootloader is loading but shows 'battery low
cannot program'
when i was trying to load the ROM my battery was ~50%...
what should i do?
after a few times failing with the @ - it works.. one time..pressed the factory reset - booted up - still bugged with the google boot up logo...
hi, aznsniper
i have the same problem,i have no idea to solve it. sorry... maybe rondoval will fix it in next build.
@jimbo0815
Did you factory wipe, cache wipe and dalvik wipe before installing the rom? If you did, is it possible that you installed the wrong version? Just my 2 cents worth.

[DEV] [ALPHA] CyanogenMod 7.2

Hi everybody!
Today I share my CM7.2 build and the device folder needed for build.
Firstly, here is the flashable zip:
http://depositfiles.com/files/3ppjnzlbd
Just put it to your SD card and flash with CWM.
What works:
- It boots.
- Theme chooser.
- Screenshot.
- Sound playing and recording.
- GPS
- Vibration (Sometimes buggy.)
What doesn't:
- Everything else. (Including for example camera, video player, wifi, bluetooth, network and mobile data, etc.)
It is going to be a very hard work to make it fully functionable. In the followings, I share my CM7.2 (and CM7. It is the same.) device folder. Here is a little readme for building. I assume the devs who are involved in the CM-development already know this (especially the first steps).
- Check out the latest CyanogenMod 7.2 sources:
repo init -u git://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git -b gb-release-7.2
repo sync
- Put the device files into device/samsung/galaxyr
- Move cyanogen_galaxyr.mk (from the attached zip) into vendor/cyanogen/products directory.
- Open vendor/cyanogen/vendorsetup.sh and add the following line:
'add_lunch_combo cyanogen_galaxyr-eng' (Without quotes)
- Open vendor/cyanogen/AndroidProducts.mk and add the following:
'$(LOCAL_DIR)/cyanogen_galaxyr.mk' (Without quotes)
- Go to your device folder (device/samsung/galaxyr), put your phone on USB and run extract-files.sh
(It is important to run in the device folder, because it works with relative paths!)
(Your phone must have a stock or stock-based rom to copy the necessary proprietary files!)
- In your top CM source dir, execute:
'. build/envsetup.sh' (Without quotes)
- Finally:
'brunch cyanogen_galaxyr-eng' (Without quotes)
- Wait for it to finish. Flash and enjoy!
Here is the link for the GitHub repository:
https://github.com/Adam77Root/android_device_samsung_galaxyr
Some information about the files:
- The files (especially galaxyr.mk) are bloated with options and settings. I have concerns about the usefulness of some of them. We may not need them in a final/stable build.
- The kernel is the stock ZSLE6 kernel.
- gpswrapper, libaudio, libexifa, libjpega and libsensors were copied from c1-common with little modifications.
Some notices I have come across during the development:
- If we set TARGET_HAVE_TEGRA_ERRATA_657451 to true, we get a plenty of segmentation faults. On CM9, I was able to trace back the problem to this setting! CM7 (and obviously 7.2, I didn't tried) doesn't show the segfaults, probably because init and adb can't load. That's why TeamGalaxyR's rom boots to Samsung splash screen. If you try 'adb shell' on that rom, it immediately closes, because it cannot connect. After I had set this option off, I was able to build working images.
I hope other developers will start working on CM as soon as they can. It is a great project. I will also put every effort into this project, but I won't have access to my files for a week from tomorrow. However, I will stay tuned and be able to post here.
I attach two screenshots I took yesterday.

(Your phone must have a stock or stock-based rom to copy the necessary proprietary files!)

this ROM is obviously not suitable for daily use.... but this ROM gives us a ray of hope that a fully functional CynaogenMod working on our galaxy r is just round the corner.... Kudos to the developer for such an outstanding development and hope he provides a fully functioning CM 7.2 very soon

Remember that it's not ready for daily use. Nearly everything doesn't work. You have to wipe everything in order to make it boot. And of course, flash gapps too.
how to get pass , the first boot setup ,
the gapps provided is too large for defy's data partition
so cant get specific needed files for setup , can any1 help ??

System Wizard stopped fixed
After installing CM10.1 with gapps you can't bypass Setup Wizard stopped. How bypass this error: 1.wipe all data 2.install CM10.1 nightly 3.Wipe all data 4.boot in 4.2, it will boot without errors. 5.Install your needed google apps from market. Error caused by gapps (I think its because low space in ROM - installing CM10.1 without gapps i getted only about 15mb free), so if we want to use future ROMS (4.3 - CM11 or CM10.3) we need to resize SystemROM, to resize SROM - we need unlock bootloader, to bypass bl - TI Board Conf tool & 16MB.bin or some future way )

[Rom] [4.4.4] Cyanogenmod 11 for Moto X

***Posting this on behalf of current CM developer for this device***
Source can be found at https://github.com/CyanogenMod
This is a unified build for Moto X
To build CyanogenMod for yourself you can follow http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Build_for_moto_msm8960dt
If you'd rather not extract files from the latest CyanogenMod build you can add vendor.xml to your .repo/local_manifests folder.
It's been confirmed to work on both the 4.3 and 4.4 bootloaders.
Details on Installing and downloading CyanogenMod can be found here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Moto_msm8960dt_Info
Official nightlies can be downloaded here: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=ghost

Known Issues: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Known_Issues_page_for_moto_msm8960dt
Changelog: http://www.cmxlog.com/11/moto_msm8960dt/
Before you post a bug report:
Please ensure you have done a full wipe of data and formated system under Mounts and Storage.
If you have flashed parts for other versions you may need to do a full flash of the factory software for your model and start clean.
Do not report bugs in nightlies to jira.cyanogenmod.org
Enjoy!
Already known bugs
So, already known bugs:
1. Speakerphone did not work.
2. GPS sometimes do not find satellites.

Yep, unlocked boot loader. It seems to happen with all of the CM11 based ROMs on the Droid Mini.
That said, headphone audio works fine. I haven't tested bluetooth audio, but I can test that later today.
I'd be happy to run any tests, or provide logcat info if you like. Just let me know.
I am not a dev. Post logcat here. Dhacker will see it and will be able to isolate the problem.

Codename: moto_msm8960dt
Also known as: ghost, obake-maxx
Vendor: Motorola
Release Date: 2013 Aug 23
Carrier: TMobile, International GSM, Verizon, US Cellular, Sprint
From the link in the OP it says it will: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Moto_msm8960dt_Info
Hi I'm using the new PA google camera and I found that de back camera has the CIF QVGA and QCIF resolution and front camera has 1080p resolution, this may addres the issues taking videos with the back camera.
Hope this helps to developers.
I'm using Liquid rom right now.
Videocamera fix
Hi, guys and girls. Seems like I have managed to fix video camera to recocord 1080p and 720p videos and also front video camera, wich can record up to 720p now. I was rying to make front camera record also 1080p videos as on stock ROMs it can do so, but did not find a solution at the moment.
Proof is in the screenshots.
How to;
1. Download attached media-profiles.zip and extract xml file
2. Copy to Sdcard
3. Using any root file manager (I use RootExplorer) go to /system/etc
4. Copy downloader media-profiles.xml to this location and agree with the replacement.
5. Set permissions rw--r--r--
6. Reboot
7. Enjoy fully functional AOSP camera
P.S. If anyone is familiar with gerrit and/or github, please, add this fix to msm8960dt cm source code.
P.P.S. Finaly managed to add 1080p front camera recording.

Appreciate the advice nevertheless.
Motorola driver decided to be a jerk, so the logcat took me longer than expected. This is the xt1030 Droid Mini, unlocked bootloader, running a clean install of CM11, no gapps package, as of a few days ago. Clean booted the phone, played with the volume controls, and sound ringtone selector.
The bug: No external audio at any point. Headphones work, however.

If someone takes a look, and wants further tests, please let me know. Be happy to dig into the issue.
Cheers!

Looking it over, since it seems to be horking out around here:

I've included the contents of that directory structure in case it's useful. Looks like the directory it's looking for is at:

But that's just a guess without looking directly at the code, which I may do.

Guess I found a solution for you. Open zip with CM11 nightly. Go to system and find a folder called xt1080. Open it. You will see 3 folders. Extarct them. Then using any root file manager copy files from every folder to /sytem/bin, /system/etc, /system/lib. Extracted folders have the same names. Set permissions. Reboot.
